MCCAIN AND THE GOOD EPA

OK, one wouldn’t expect Hillary or B.O. to support a measure limiting the role of the federal government to…well, the limited role established by our Founders. But what about John McCain? Why has he never supported this bill? Read all about it HERE at Muth’s Truths.

A RECORD WORTH SUPPORTING?

“Here they go again; all those emails from people who are upset with Bob Barr running for president on the Libertarian Party ballot… These people are concerned that Barr’s candidacy are going to give us another Ross Perot situation, where votes for Perot essentially put Bill Clinton into office.

“Frankly, I’m really not going to be upset if the Republicans get their hats handed to them in this election. During the Bush years the only bright moments for the Republican Party were tax cuts and fighting Islamic fascism. Beyond that, what have they done?

“Well, they doubled the size and the cost of the federal government for one. How’s that for a record of accomplishment? In 2007 Republicans were the pork champions in Washington; more pork spending than Democrats. Oh yeah—- let me get my checkbook out and make a huge contribution to the Republican Party right now.”

OBAMA AND HIS GRAND-MAMMA

“For those keeping score, Obama is aghast at his grandmother’s alleged racism, but had no problem with Jeremiah Wright’s manifest racism. If Obama is sent reeling by the mere words of an elderly white woman, how is he going to negotiate with a guy like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad? What if Ahmadinejad calls him ‘booger-face’? Will he run crying from the table?”

IMITATION DEMOCRATS

“If Senator John McCain needed to prove that he is a real Republican, he did it when he continued an old Republican tradition of utterly inept attempts to appeal to black voters. Senator McCain was booed at a recent memorial on the anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. In typical Republican fashion, he tried to apologize but the audience was not buying it and let him know it…

“The Republican strategy for making inroads into the black vote has failed consistently for more than a quarter of a century. Yet it never seems to occur to them to change their approach.

“The first thing that they do that is foredoomed to failure is trying to reach blacks through the civil rights organizations and other institutions of the black establishment. The second proven loser is trying to appeal to blacks by offering the same kinds of things that Democrats offer—token honors, politically correct rhetoric and welfare state benefits. Blacks who want those things know that they can already get them from the Democrats. Why should they listen to Republicans who act like imitation Democrats?”

FIGHT OVER GANG BABY

“Commerce City (Co.) police were called to a disturbance Saturday at a Hollywood Video on East 64th Street, where a man reportedly was harassing his ex-girlfriend, who was working there. . . . When officers questioned the woman, they learned that the two had been together for four years and were the parents of a child.

“When police asked the woman why the two had separated, she said they have ‘different ideas about how the baby should be raised,’ according to a police report. When officer Daniel Swift asked the woman what she meant by that, she said that the two belong to different street gangs. ‘They could not agree on which gang the baby would claim,’ Swift said.”

THE OINK REPORT

We Oink Reporters understand the desire for things. We gadgetheads are always lusting after the latest and greatest in personal electronics and feel the same way about the iPhone as Tom Cruise felt about Rene Zellweger in Jerry McGuire. It would complete us. But despite our rampant materialism, we have always felt that one should fund his/her “things” budget with personal money, not money purloined from taxpayers. THE UNION LABEL

“Organizers of a ballot initiative to make Colorado a right-to-work state filed signatures Wednesday to put the issue before voters in November despite pleas from Gov. Bill Ritter (D) and others to stand down. . . . The initiative, which is backed by a group called A Better Colorado, would ask voters to amend the state constitution to say that union membership and the payment of union dues or fees could not be mandatory. Unions have opposed the measure and have filed their own ballot proposals.”

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

“No Child Left Behind legislation has left troublesome, unintended consequences. When the legislation imposed rigid standards, teachers began to “teach to the test” instead of imparting actual knowledge.”
