From Bob McCarty Writes:
I was right. In my post earlier, I estimated the earthquake that awakened me this morning was at least a 3.5 to 4.0 on the Richter Scale. News accounts at 5 a.m. confirmed it, saying that a preliminary 5.4 measurement is being given to the tremblor that was centered approximately 120 miles east of St. Louis near Evansville, Ill. More later!
UPDATE 4-18-08 7:25 a.m. Central: Officials with the U.S. Geological Survey have updated the information about the earthquake, estimating it measured 5.2 on the Richter scale with an epicenter closest to Bellmont, Ill.
