Yesterday, a headline caught my eye at WaPo: D.C. Police to Check Drivers In Violence-Plagued Trinidad. I blanched… This violates the constitution in numerous ways and just makes a joke of individual rights – all in the name of making neighborhoods safer from gangs. I would point out that individuals probably have just as much to fear from the government as they do from gangs in many instances…
From The LawDog Files:
Anyone not providingpapersidentification or a “legitimate reason to enter the neighborhood” will be—and I quote—“forced to leave”.Anyone objecting to being refused entry into the “Neighborhood Safety Zone” will face arrest for failing to obey police.
This sort of bushwa is EXACTLY what you bloody well get when the sodding government is the only folks allowed to carry guns. This sort of absolute felching gradoo is EXACTLY what you get when the citizens are disarmed.
LawDog IS an officer and a damn good one. He is also very well versed in the Constitution and our individual rights… These gestapo tactics are obviously being test-run in DC - you can expect to see this behavior spread across the US. It is nothing less than horrifying and many will not submit to it without a fight. I certainly won’t…
Last time I looked this was a free country where you did not have to give a ‘reason’ for going into a neighborhood or region. These thuggish, fascist actions are a disgrace and anyone carrying them out should be ashamed. You need to study American history and world history. You have seriously underestimated all Americans as well, who will not lightly submit to the heavy handed tactics of a perverted governmental system that will try to control all within its grasp. Think again and chew on the outcomes that are possible… One more quote from LawDog (you really need to read it all):
Tell me, truly—are you going to train your cops to say, “Papieren, bitte” before demanding a “legitimate reason” to be about on a public road? Just to make the whole process complete?Or will you teach them the phrase in Russian? Maybe Chinese?
Why the lot of you haven’t been horse-whipped around the courthouse square for even daring to suggest this crap is beyond me.
Oh, and LawDog, if you see this, we live up near Coeur d’ Alene and would love to have you here: I wonder if Coeur d’Alene needs cops?
UPDATE: Police plan vehicle checkpoints in DC neighborhood (Sieg Heil)
