Watching the alphabet soup of evening newscasts can be information and full of surprises at the same time. Take, for instance, stories that aired recently on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams and CBS Evening News with Katie Couric.

In a piece that aired Friday, Williams is shown bowing to President Barack Obama as they part ways at the White House. That’s right, he bowed to the president.

After watching the video, Larry Anderson at American Thinker expresses his feelings in a headline: “I Think I’m Going Japanese.” See what you think.

Couric’s effort Tuesday night shocked me even more. It was a hit piece — sure, it could have been more hard-hitting, but it was a hit piece nonetheless — on Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) and the so-called “charities” in his home town of Johnstown that have reaped billions in Department of Defense contracts without having paid any taxes. Perhaps, it’s a one-time shot at CYA in case Democrats decide to sacrifice Congressman Murtha before the 2010 election cycle.
