OBAMA’S HUG-A-THUG FOREIGN POLICY

“North Korea launches a missile and it takes Barack Obama and the UN five days to respond. Iran holds fraudulent elections, kills protesters and it takes weeks before Barack Obama can stand up and say that he is ‘concerned’ about the situation. Then the people of Honduras try to uphold their constitution and laws of the land from being trampled by a Chavez-wanna be..and it takes Barack Obama one day to proclaim that this was not a legal coup.”

THE ANTI-SURGE STARTS IN IRAQ

“Today is a milestone in Iraq. Under the terms of the Strategic Framework Agreement, U.S. troops will withdraw from Iraqi cities. In retrospect, however, June 30 will likely mark another milestone: the end of the surge and the relative peace it brought to Iraq. In the past week, bombings in Baghdad, Mosul and near Kirkuk have killed almost 200 people. The worst is yet to come.”

- Michael Rubin of the American Enterprise Institute

ALL AND THANKS FOR NOTHING?

“Former Vice President Dick Cheney on Monday expressed concern that the pending pullout of U.S. troops from Iraq’s cities could reverse the military progress made by American and Iraqi forces there since the George W. Bush administration’s 2007 surge. Iraqis have already been celebrating ahead of Tuesday’s pullout, which the Iraqi government has declared National Sovereignty Day, a public holiday.”

KENNEDY SLAPS DOWN SONIA

“No individual should face workplace discrimination based on race.”

- Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy reversing Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s appellate panel ruling in Ricci v. DeStefano against New Haven firefighters who sought relief after the city threw out the results of a test for promotion

SUPREMES GET ANOTHER ONE RIGHT

“Writing for a 5-4 majority in Ricci v. DeStefano, Justice Anthony Kennedy said that the city of New Haven violated civil-rights law when it threw out firefighter promotional exams because more whites than blacks or Hispanics had passed the tests. New Haven claimed it had to junk the tests because certifying the results would lead to an avalanche of lawsuits by black candidates who hadn’t passed. In other words, the city claimed it had to intentionally discriminate against white candidates out of fear that the tests unintentionally had a ‘disparate impact’ against minorities.”

- Wall Street Journal editorial, 6/30/09

BUT IT SHOULDA BEEN UNANIMOUS

“Although New Haven’s firefighters deservedly won in the Supreme Court, it is deeply depressing that they won narrowly — 5-4.”

IS PREZ SMARTER THAN A SIX-YEAR-OLD?

“From a freedom-loving perspective, it appears President Obama has the economic sense of a six-year-old child.”

PREDETERMINED OUTCOME

“Almost all of the House members surveyed Friday by CNSNews.com had not read the entire 1,200-page climate-change bill before they were to cast their vote Friday evening. But almost all of them knew how they were going to vote.”

- CNS News, 6/29/09

ALICE IN MEDICAL CARE

“Most political and media discussions of medical care have an air of unreality reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland. There is an abundance of catch-phrases but remarkably few coherent arguments.”

- Columnist Thomas Sowell

FED-EXCESS UPDATE

One of FedEx’s hired guns has been outed after foolishly using his real email address while posting an anti-UPS comment on a blog using a fake name. Read all about this bawk-bawk-bawker HERE in “Who’s Afraid of the Big, Bob Wolfe” on FedExcess.info.

Another anonymous FedEx supporter argues that FedEx Express drivers rightfully should be covered under the Railway Labor Act because a regional strike by said drivers would shut down national commerce. I blow that baby out of the water HERE.

Meanwhile, state attorney generals in eight states are sniffing around FedEx Ground’s vaunted “independent contractor” employment practices. Not good. Not good at all. Read about it HERE.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

“I write to apologize and ask for your forgiveness.”

- South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford in an email letter to supporters yesterday
