Meet your new Green Jobs Czar: Van Jones…

Green Jobs Czar – Van Jones

Jones’s official title is “Special Adviser for Green Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation” at the White House Council on Environmental Quality. However, as you can see from this piece at NRO, he has other interesting qualities:

Jones was a co-founder of the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, a San Francisco–area organization that once focused exclusively on so-called social-justice issues but now sees the pot of gold at the end of the green-jobs rainbow. In a 2007 entry on the Huffington Post, Jones marked the 15th anniversary of the riots that followed the acquittal of the four LAPD officers accused of beating Rodney King. Attached to the post is an essay he wrote in those heady days of 1992, which includes this account of the genesis of his revolutionary ardor:

Our rallying cry was for justice; our demand was that the System be changed!

Yes, the Great Revolutionary Moment had at long last come. And the time, clearly, was ours!

So we stole stuff.

Y’know, stole stuff. Radios, tennis shoes. Well, not everybody, of course.

The vast majority (me included) just marched around and chanted slogans. But some set trash cans on fire. And smashed in car windows. And some kids stoned a few passing cars pretty good.

And stole stuff, like I said.

Inspiring – you know, in a criminal sort of way… One more quote from Officer Jack Dunphy of the LA Police Department who wrote the article at NRO:

But now, who needs to steal when you’ve been appointed to a post where your hand is on the spigot from which all those federal green-job dollars flow? Green is indeed the new red, and you’re paying for it.

From Moonbattery:

Green Jobs Czar Van Jones Is a Communist and Black Nationalist

John Holdren — the guy who wanted to put a sterilizing agent in our water supply and is now in charge of federal science policy — is hardly the only dangerous radical to attain “Czar” status in the Obama regime. NewsBusters reports:

The administration’s “Green Jobs” czar, Van Jones, has a “very checkered past” deep-rooted in radical politics, including black nationalism, anarchism, and communism. The broadcast network newscasts have mostly failed to report on Mr. Jones’s past political affiliations which are lock-step with the network’s downplay of coverage regarding President Obama’s associations with the former radical and terrorist William Ayers during the election.

Jones is a San Francisco extremist who admits to having been “radicalized in jail.”

You really should read ALL of Moonbattery’s post. Very enlightening to say the least…

Basically, Obama has brought together a cadre of radicals to be his Czars. As I said before, they answer to no one but Obama (unless he delegates oversight to Biden or his Cabinet). Obama decides their pay and their power limits. There is NO Congressional oversight here folks. Nada… The media and the left are adamant that Jones’ title does not technically include the term ‘Czar.’ Well, if he wields power like a Czar, uses money however he likes just like a Czar and conducts his affairs in a Czar-like manner, I’d call him a Czar. Semantics folks – don’t let them blind you with bullshit.

From the Examiner:

Van Jones, ‘Green Jobs Czar’, a self-described ‘communist’ arrested during Rodney King riots

The 41-year-old Yale Law School graduate and civil rights lawyer is also the founder of California’s Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, “a non-profit agency for justice, opportunities and peace.”

Sounds idyllic, but Jones’ past isn’t so pastoral.

The Ella Baker Center was connected to STORM (Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement), a “multi-racial activist collective with Marxist influences” with which Jones was involved.

In 1992, Van Jones founded another STORM project, Bay Area PoliceWatch, a “hotline and lawyer-referral service for victims and survivors of police abuse.” This is fitting, perhaps, since Jones was himself arrested and detained briefly during a protest after the Rodney King verdict that same year.

There’s that Marxist theme again. Wow, big coincidence there… And this is priceless:

Like a character out of The Big Chill, Van Jones seems to have evolved from radical activist to Establishment insider. Perhaps only a left-wing administration incapable of recognizing irony would put a self-described communist in charge of creating jobs.

Luckily for Van Jones, and Obama’s many other “Czars” with dubious credentials and troubling backgrounds, his new job was not dependent upon making it through Congressional hearings.

Van Jones was a Community Organizer in Oakland before being tapped as the Green Jobs Czar. That sounds familiar. I sense a recurring theme here: Community Organizer (check), Marxist (check), radical (check)… Makes you go, hmmm… But it’s okay – he graduated from Yale.

Jones is really pushing Cap and Trade and if successful, in my viewpoint, will destroy our economy and business structure – not to mention, you know, our country and Constitution. From I Hate The Media:

One would think it newsworthy if the President of the United States appointed an admitted communist to a key position in his administration. Wouldn’t one?

Then how can it be explained that the media has given virtually no attention to the political beliefs of Van Jones, the man President Obama has named “Green Jobs Czar”?

Jones is William Ayers without the bombs. He’s the ultimate watermelon: green on the outside, red on the inside.

There is no end to fodder on this guy from the web. I’ll leave you with one last quote – RightPundits:

Obama sure can pick em’, tax dodgers, communists, anarchists, liars and thieves. But I’m sure Obama has no idea about Van Jones checkered past. So the question remains; is Van Jones Green Jobs Czar a Communist? I suppose you’d have to ask him, problem is nobody will.
