Zanesville, Ohio – Through day, through night, through rain, through heat, through cold, and without Congressman Zack Space throughout, Coach Dave Daubenmire has managed to keep smiling.

The Fairfield Christian Academy football coach has been spending twenty hours a day for the last week camped out in front of Democrat Congressman Zack Space’s Zanesville office, beseeching the Ohio 18th District Representative to hold an open town hall to hear his constituents concerns. “Coach” only takes breaks between 2 and 6 pm, just long enough to get to football practice and back.

“It’s been trying at times,” says Coach. “But I feel like this is my duty as a citizen. We have a constitutional right to petition our government. If we don’t exercise those rights, we will lose them.”

Yesterday at 10 AM, Coach exercised his right to petition nationally on the Fox News channel’s “America’s Newsroom” with anchor Megyn Kelly. The segment lasted for several minutes and can be viewed at http://www.foxnews.com/video2/video08.html?maven_referralObject=8980166&maven_referralPlaylistId=&sRevUrl=http://www.foxnews.com/americasnewsroom/index.html

Congressman Zack Space has been largely silent on Coach’s round-the-clock vigil. His website still lists no plans for a town hall. http://space.house.gov/

“I’ve been sleeping here for no other reason than to ensure than my generation passes a representative government onto my children’s generation,” insists Coach. “I’m not representing a party or any narrow interest group. I’m trying to stand for our republic and our God-granted freedoms. If a government doesn’t act in the interests of its constituents, it falls upon the citizens to inform the government of its failure. Unfortunately Zack Space won’t listen.”

And because Zack Space hasn”t listened, Coach is throwing a town hall of his own.

“The voices of the citizenry will be heard,” says Coach. “We have a moral obligation to petition our government, and if Zack Space won’t come to us. We will come to him.”

Coach’s town hall will be held at 6 PM tomorrow, Thursday, September 3rd on the courthouse steps in downtown Zanesville. All are welcome to attend. Zack Space has been invited, but his office has yet to return Coach’s calls.

Tonight will be Coach Dave’s seventh in a row sleeping on his makeshift cot, assembled from the removable backseat of his red 1999 Plymouth Voyager minivan, set up beneath the stars and the gilded Congressional Seal hung outside Representative Zack Space’s office.
