MUTH’S TRUTHS

  • Our first-ever Kids Happy Hour & Deck Party is tonight from 5 to 7 pm at Joe’s Crab Shack on Sunset & Green Valley Pkwy in Henderson/Green Valley. Meet up on the outdoor deck next to the playground. $2 kids meals – $3 margaritas! Plus….a clown!
  • If, as reported today, Obama plans to bury Yucca Mountain once and for all in December…what reason will there be left for re-electing Harry Reid next November?
  • The far left-wing DailyKos picked up on our GOP gubernatorial poll yesterday, referring to the illustrious Jerry Dorchuck – Chairman and CEO of PMI, Inc. which conducted the poll – as a “mystery pollster” and maintaining that surveying almost 5,000 people was “overkill.” Fact is, Jerry Dorchuck is no mystery; he’s been doing polling in Nevada and around the country for over a decade and is well-known among political types. And as for surveying 5,000 people instead of 500…we call that, um, accuracy.
  • “If you want to get your rear-end chewed out over political pronouncements from Harry Reid, Jan Jones, or Brian Greenspun, just chat up any Harrahs employee, especially at Caesars, where Harrahs is all but destroying that iconic brand!” writes NN&V contributor and Democrat blogger extraordinaire Mike Zahara. “You see, what neither of The Three Amigos is telling you or anyone else is that yes, Harry Reid paved the way for a huge corporate welfare tax break for Harrahs and do you know what Harrahs did with their big fat gift from Senator Harry Reid? They went ahead and bought Planet Hollywood’s debt with your tax money!!!” Your tax dollars at work.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

“(I)t’s important to be clear about what the (health care) reform amounts to. . . . The U.S. government is making a costly and open-ended commitment. Let’s not pretend that it isn’t a big deal, or that it will be self-financing, or that it will work out exactly as planned. It won’t. What is really unfolding, I suspect, is the scenario that many conservatives feared. The Obama Administration…is creating a new entitlement program, which, once established, will be virtually impossible to rescind.” – John Cassidy of the New Yorker

Headed Towards Defeat In Afghanistan

By: Nancy Morgan
RightBias.com

Under The Radar:

The Obama administration is headed down the irrecoverable path to defeat in Afghanistan, and appears to be waving the white flag in the global ‘war on terror.’

It has now been more than seven long weeks since the top U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan, General Stanley A. McChrystal, reported on the desperate need for more troops in Afghanistan, warning that defeating the insurgents will not be possible if the United States fails to “gain the initiative and reverse insurgent momentum” over the next 12 months.

McChrystal’s confidential report was leaked to the Washington Post on September 21, 2009. It was met with silence from the White House. Well, not quite… On October 4, nearly two dozen House liberals introduced a bill that would prohibit an increase of troops in Afghanistan. And the Senate rejected an attempt to have the top commander in Afghanistan testify about the increasingly volatile situation.

As our public servants worked feverishly behind the scenes to deny support to our fighting men in Afghanistan, hundreds of terrorists armed with automatic rifles and rocket-propelled grenades stormed a pair of remote outposts near the Pakistan border, killing eight U.S. soldiers and capturing more than 20 Afghan security troops in the deadliest assault against U.S. forces in more than a year.

Following this attack, U.S. Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates stated that the Taliban now have the momentum in Afghanistan “because of the inability of the United States and its allies to put enough troops into the country.”

Our President was otherwise occupied accepting the Nobel Peace Prize. The mainstream media was so excited that they kinda forgot to report Gate’s dire warning. 24/7 media coverage of the latest Messiah of Peace was followed by news of the exciting Michelle Obama ‘action figure.’ And the President’s exciting ‘date night’ with Michelle.

Continuing to ignore the worsening situation in Afghanistan, President Obama and the First Lady instead rolled out the red carpet while a group handed out white coats to a select group of doctors, in a staged photo-op designed to further Obama’s proposed health care reform. In his televised speech, Obama expressed deep concern for the health of any Americans that aren’t covered by government health care, and trotted out several heartbreaking stories to prove it. These stories were later proven false.

Meanwhile, our State Department addressed the terrorist problem. They just renamed terrorists “refugees.”

Obama remained extremely busy in October, making a trip to Copenhagen to lobby for the Olympics to be held in his hometown of Chicago, and appearing on the Letterman Show. But he did take the time to stage a nice little photo-op with a midnight trip to Dover Airfield, along with photographers, to show the nation his concern for our returning war dead. (Concern that was sorely lacking for the victims of the recent Fort Hood massacre.)

At the end of this busy month, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs informed the nation that Obama has spent “close to 20 direct hours” in meetings on Afghanistan since Gen. Stanley McChrystal’s request for tens of thousands of reinforcements was submitted over two months ago.

Gibbs went on to say that Obama also spends “quite a bit of time” thinking about the war in Afghanistan, after it was revealed that Obama had spent more time with Oprah than with General McChrystal.

Our NATO allies saw that Obama was busy waging war on Fox News and the Chamber of Commerce instead of sending reinforcements to our brave warriors who are fighting and dying in Afghanistan, and started following his cue.

On November 6, Canada’s top general issued instructions for his officers to start making their plans to pull out of Afghanistan.

The UK is also drawing up plans to withdraw British troops from outlying bases in Afghanistan. And the United Nations has relocated 600 of their Afghan staff out of harms way.

The media remains silent on this shocking abrogation of leadership, reporting only that Obama is considering his options and weighing them, as a good President should. Meanwhile, the Taliban grow increasingly powerful and our young men in Afghanistan are left wondering if their fight, and their comrades lives, have been in vain.

Americans are assumed to have forgotten that Barack Obama campaigned on a promise to reinforce U.S. troops in Afghanistan, which he described as a war we “have to win.” I guess he’s changed his mind.

To my nephew Christopher, and all our brave young men in Afghanistan, I’d like to say on behalf of most Americans, that I’m so very sorry your lives are being used as political fodder. And unlike Obama, most Americans support you and will keep raising their voices in outrage at the shameless lack of support and leadership being shown by your Commander in Chief.

For Release: November 10, 2009
Reno, NV

Political and Business Strategic Consultant, now candidate for the US Senate Mike Wiley, who is the only Republican Candidate to have ever run in a US Senate Race before and the only candidate to have ever led a major rally to defeat gun control, will be speaking at the North Valley Republican Women’s Club at Hobey’s Casino, 5195 Sun Valley Blvd. in Sun Valley, Nevada on Tuesday November 10, 2009 at 6:00pm.

He will discuss his ideas for this and his request to President Obama to give the American Taxpayers a 90 day moratorium on payroll taxes for the first quarter of 2010, which he believes will create a surge in the economy.

Wiley believes that his experience in developing strategies to save failing businesses and start ups is just what the American people need at a time when government has failed so miserably.

Korean Navies Exchange Gunfire

Hat Tip: Gateway Pundit

YouTube:

Naval gunfire exchange
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091110/a…
SEOUL, South Korea A badly damaged North Korean patrol ship retreated in flames Tuesday after a skirmish with a South Korean naval vessel along their disputed western coast, the first such clash in seven years, South Korean officials said.

There were no South Korean casualties, the country’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement, and it was not immediately clear if there were any casualties on the North Korean side. Each side blamed the other for violating the sea border.

The exchange of fire occurred as U.S. officials said President Barack Obama has decided to send a special envoy to Pyongyang for rare direct talks on the communist country’s nuclear weapons program. No date has been set but it would be the first one-on-one talks since Obama took office in January. Obama is due in Seoul next week.

“It’s a regrettable incident,” South Korean Commodore Lee Ki-sik told reporters in Seoul. “We are sternly protesting to North Korea and urging it to prevent the recurrence of similar incidents.”

North Korea’s military issued a statement blaming South Korea for the “grave armed provocation,” saying its ships crossed into North Korean territory.
The North claimed that a group of South Korean warships opened fire but fled after the North’s patrol boat dealt “a prompt retaliatory blow.” The statement, carried on the official Korean Central News Agency, said the South should apologize.

President Lee Myung-bak, who convened an emergency security meeting, ordered the South’s defense minister to strengthen military readiness.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement that a North Korean patrol boat crossed the disputed western sea border about 11:27 a.m. (0227 GMT), drawing warning shots from a South Korean navy vessel. The North Korean boat then opened fire and the South’s ship returned fire before the North’s vessel sailed back toward its waters, the statement said.

The clash occurred near the South-held island of Daecheong, about 120 nautical miles (220 kilometers) off the port city of Incheon, west of Seoul, the statement said.

The North Korean ship was seriously damaged in the skirmish, a Joint Chiefs of Staff officer said on condition of anonymity, citing department policy. Prime Minister Chung Un-chan told lawmakers the ship was on fire when it fled north.

Lee, the commodore, said the shooting lasted for about two minutes, during which the North Korean ship fired about 50 rounds at the South Korean vessel, about two miles (3.2 kilometers) away. He said the South Korean ship was lightly damaged.

Protest on Nancy Pelosi’s home turf, San Francisco, November 15, noon ’til 4 *UPDATED*

Reposted from Bookworm Room

To protest against the Healthcare Bill, instead of a 60s sit-in, Bay Area Patriots will be having a

“SICK-IN”

We are sick to death of being ignored;

We are sick to death over what the Health Care bill will do to us and our children;

We are sick to death having this govt intrude on our G-d given liberties;

This Health Care Bill sickens us all;

This Health Care Bill is Gonna Kill Us!

When: Sunday, November 15th

Time: 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm

Note: We will be setting up, chatting, meeting one another and selling merchandise from 12:00 until 1:00 when the SICK- IN will officially start. Amplified sound needs to stop by 3:00. We can hang around until 4:00 but without amplified sound.

Place: Adjacent to Justin Herman Plaza, the Embarcadero, San Francisco. Technically, at the South Lawn Music Concourse (between Steuert and the Embarcadero/Mission and Market).

When you face the Ferry Building and are standing at Justin Herman Plaza, it is directly to your right…a rectangular patch of grass! If you Google Justin Herman Plaza, click on satellite image and move the cursor to the right, you can see it clear as day.

You can take the Ferry or BART or drive and park.

What to bring:

· Signs

· BAP shirts if you have them…otherwise red…

· Crutches, slings, walkers, wheelchairs, bandages for around your head…whatever you can bring that is simple and easy to make you look sick…we will do some filming so we can prepare a video called “Killer” to the tune of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” video. Be ready to line up and look like a sick ghoul or zombie…masks are discretionary…looking like regular sick folk is just fine.

· We will use quiet time to work: Be prepared to send and write letters to senators, thanking the reps who voted against the bill, and letting the reps who voted for the bill know how we feel about that. We’ll try to have some computers set up so you can BLAST FAX them as well.

· Bring your sense of humor, determination and patriotism.

RSVP: to Sally at [email protected]

Please spread the word…and bring friends…as the weather gets more challenging it will be more difficult to have these outdoor tea parties.

We will be selling T-shirts ($15-$20), tote bags ($5), bumper stickers ($3) and wrist bands ($2). All proceeds help defray the costs associated with the tea parties. Thanks for your support during these very difficult economic and emotional times.

UPDATE: The above text comes directly from Bay Area Patriots. This is me, Bookworm, speaking: We all had a lot of adrenalin going in August. People all over the country were attending Tea Parties, and it was tremendously exciting to be part of a mass movement. Now, the days are shorter, the air is colder, and Nancy ignored us completely. It’s as if the air got sucked out of our protest balloon. That’s a significant problem because we conservatives and independents, unlike liberals, are not practiced or professional protesters. We don’t roll out of bed every morning and grab the Marxist signs that live perpetually in the back of our closets. Instead, we need to be fired up and now we’re not only not fired up, we’re demoralized.

All of which makes it that much more important for us to dig within ourselves and find the energy to holler out “NO!” to a bill that will bankrupt our economy, insert the government in every area of our lives, destroy our medical system, criminalize us for not purchasing a product and, for those pro-Lifers amongst you, inevitably mean that you bankroll abortions.

As for me, I love the idea of the first resounding NO taking place on Nancy Pelosi’s home turf. I live with the Pelosis of this world and I understand how they feel about a rally in Wichita — they don’t care, because fly-over country is made up of hicks. (If you doubt me, just cast your mind back to Obama’s insulting speech about Pennsylvanians, whom he includes within the fly-over country category.) A rally at home, a massive, charged up, in your face rally at home, shakes the liberal politicians, because it upsets their world view.

One more thing: Please, please, please, if you show up, keep your signs and your slogans focused tightly on the health care bill. A reality in our world is a hostile mainstream media, and one “Hitleresque” sign will occupy 100% of the media’s focus. No one outside of the protesters themselves will see the hundreds of straightforward, or brilliant, or witty signs directed at the insanity that is the Pelosi/Obama health care bill. I viscerally appreciate that it might feel good for you, personally, to vent your spleen, but it’s a short lived pleasure, with long term negative consequences for a very, very important issue.

Papers Please…

(AP / CBS)

From CBS News – Justice Dept. Asked For News Site’s Visitor Lists

Key excerpt:

In a case that raises questions about online journalism and privacy rights, the U.S. Department of Justice sent a formal request to an independent news site ordering it to provide details of all reader visits on a certain day.

The grand jury subpoena also required the Philadelphia-based Indymedia.us Web site “not to disclose the existence of this request” unless authorized by the Justice Department, a gag order that presents an unusual quandary for any news organization.

The article goes on to say that the Justice Department would not at any point disclose ‘why’ the subpoena was issued or what they were investigating. They also issued a gag order. I would wager that Indymedia will win this contest, but who knows any more… More:

Under long-standing Justice Department guidelines, subpoenas to members of the news media are supposed to receive special treatment. One portion of the guidelines, for instance, says that “no subpoena may be issued to any member of the news media” without “the express authorization of the attorney general” – that would be current attorney general Eric Holder – and subpoenas should be “directed at material information regarding a limited subject matter.”

Still unclear is what criminal investigation U.S. Attorney Morrison was pursuing. Last Friday, a spokeswoman initially promised a response, but Morrison sent e-mail on Monday evening saying: “We have no comment.” The Justice Department in Washington, D.C. also declined to respond.

For those of you who don’t believe that this administration is getting ready to clamp down on the Internet (since they already control the rest of the media except for Fox News), you are in for a rude awakening. Blogs like this one may very well be yesterday’s news so-to-speak within a year if Obama and his cronies get their way on media diversity and Net Neutrality. This is just a taste of the jackbooted tactics of the White House Mob – papers please!

Now, the subpoena was withdrawn (no explanation) and so was the gag order that was issued (which would never stand up in court any way). What the hell? The Justice Department wanted the IP address of EVERYONE who visited the Indymedia site on a particular date. This is totally unconstitutional and an infringement on our freedom of speech and freedom in general.

These thuggish tactics have to be stopped – whatever it takes folks. I don’t visit Indymedia much, but one by one, every blogger who disagrees with Dear Leader has a target on their forehead. Don’t wait to see the brain matter, stop the government from swinging their sledgehammer.
