This week has been Gov. Sarah Palin’s week. And she deserves it!

After months of jabs from the news media, the Hollywood elite, political pundits, and even some disloyal campaign aides, Palin finally got her shot to have her say on things.

With the release of her book, “Going Rogue,” and her appearance on Oprah Winfrey’s talk show this week, Gov. Palin has returned to the national spotlight with a vengeance.

People frequently ask us if we’ve endorsed Gov. Palin for president in 2012, and the answer is no we haven’t. We’re not supporting any candidate at this point. Our focus is on the 2010 elections and defeating dozens upon dozens of left-wing congressmen who have supported the socialistic policies of Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

But what we will do is support conservative leaders or advocates when they come under unfair attack from the media or liberal politicians or groups. This is the same reason we’ve stood by the side of Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Mark Levin, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and others when they have come under attack. We are saddened when we see ‘circular firing squads’ where conservatives sometimes join in the firing squad against fellow conservative leaders and individuals who share our beliefs and are fighting for the same great results for our country that we also seek.

Gov. Sarah Palin has been an inspiring figure for millions of conservatives. She deserves respect for her work in advocating conservatism in a gentle-hearted, decent manner. She conducts herself with a grace and dignity that is sorely lacking in modern political culture.

It was exactly one year ago that we here at the Our Country Deserves Better Committee were producing and broadcasting ads thanking Gov. Palin. The purpose of the ad campaign was to provide a positive response to all the negative criticism leaked to the press by a handful of scornful campaign aides. With the Thanksgiving holiday, we were going to express to the nation what we were thankful for: the public service of Gov. Sarah Palin.

Some people called the ads “cheesy” or “too sickly sweet.” We didn’t care, because for us the ads were done out of sincerity. The individuals who participated in the ads did so because they had a profound respect for Gov. Palin and wanted there to be some goodness cast forth in her direction. We were tired, as conservatives, of always sitting on the sidelines and letting the media or liberals smear and attack one of our leaders. It was a privilege for us to ‘fire back’ with kindness and appreciation and not follow our opponents’ trek into the gutter of American politics.

The version of the ad below ran on Thanksgiving Day itself. We decided to inject a little good-natured humor into the spot to bring a smile to the faces of viewers:

Those ads – which were paid for by donations from thousands of our members and supporters – ended up being historic. Political observers could not recall a previous time that ads supporting a defeated vice presidential candidate were run after Election Day had past.

We loved that the ads got under the skin of liberals in a major league way. Liberal political pundits sneered at the ad campaign.

We ignored the contempt from the Left as doing ads in support of Gov. Palin was not something new for us at the Our Country Deserves Better Committee.

During the 2008 presidential campaign we ran one of the most prominent national TV ad campaign in support of Gov. Palin specifically. Here was the ad we spent hundreds of thousands of dollars airing in the final weeks of the campaign:

And finally, as we stated above, Gov. Palin is a nearly unstoppable force when she is center-stage and is allowed the chance to make her case for herself. Here is that fantastic acceptance speech she gave at the Republican National Convention that serves as the best representation of who Sarah Palin is and what kind of fighter she is for the issues we as conservatives care about:

Sarah Palin deserves at least this week to find support and appreciation, then please forward this on to others and do your part to help push back against those who are once again trying to smear and undermine a great conservative leader. Let’s show them that we stand by our own, and won’t allow them to win these games of political sabotage that those on the Left and in the media seem to love to play.
