TODAY’S NN&V HEADLINES
- Mike Wiley is a Crazy Irrational Angry Paranoid Conspiracy-Kook Blowhard Nut! (Dullard Mush) – Let’s face it, fringe candidates can be kind of fun to watch. The favorites are almost always so scripted and on-message even the most casual political observer can predict with Carnac the Magnificent-like accuracy what they will say to any given question. But for the fringe-dwellers, who knows what will come forth.
- Navy SEALs Face Assault Charges for Capturing Most-Wanted Terrorist (Rowan Scarborough/Fox News) – Navy SEALs have secretly captured one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq — the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. And three of the SEALs who captured him are now facing criminal charges.
- State Pensioner Thinks He’s Blameless for Pension Mess (Warner Todd Huston) – The Chicago Tribune printed a letter to the editor that perfectly describes the disconnect that state workers have between their pensions and the political process.
- Senate Health Care Bill: The Five Paragraphs You Must Read (Sue Blevins and Robin Kaigh) – Whether you’re for or against federal efforts to help people buy health insurance, you should know that the reform bill before the Senate would mandate a healthcare system that is definitely “not free.”
- Ten Reasons Public Won’t Buy Senate Health Care Plan (Grace-Marie Turner) – At a time of record deficits and a $12 trillion national debt, President Obama and the Democrats are pulling out all of the stops to pass a plan that dramatically expands government powers over health care.

MINI-MUTHS TRUTHS
- Talk about adding insult to injury. It’s bad enough three heroic Navy SEALS are being court-martialed because the terrorist scumbag they caught in September claims he was punched in the stomach and given a bloody lip while in custody. But to arraign these Navy SEALS on December 7th, Pearl Harbor Day? What jackass is running the circus at the Defense Department these days anyway?
- As if John Ensign doesn’t have enough problems, now he’s being linked to Uganda President Yoweri Museveni’s campaign to make gay sex punishable by death. It’s a stretch, but Queerty.com makes it HERE.
- U.S. Senate candidate Mike Wiley (R-Alpha Omicron VII) is claiming this morning that an online poll featured on the website of our good friends over at the Nevada Policy Research Institute is “proof” that he’s a viable U.S. Senate candidate and not a nutjob. Wiley says his 12 percent share of the poll of NPRI readers shows that while “the media in Clark County tries to discount Wiley’s campaign, the voters of Nevada are not.” This guy ought to run on a ticket with Nathan “Li’l Nate” Taylor.
- Since this appears to be “Mike Wiley Day” here at Nevada News & Views, catch the gadfly’s attack on Sharron Angle in the comment section at the end of Sharron’s column published HERE two days ago.
- Geoff Schumacher makes a strong case for Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman possibly becoming Nevada Gov. Oscar Goodman in his Las Vegas Review-Journal column this morning. “It’s not simply that Goodman is a celebrity,” Schumacher writes. “It’s that he’s seen as someone who can make things happen, or at least will work tirelessly to try to make things happen. Downtown Las Vegas remains a work in progress, but where would it be today without Goodman’s tenacious efforts?” Read the rest HERE.
- While most of us were sleeping off a fully tummy of turkey and pie this morning, Republican Assembly candidate Elizabeth Halseth was driving around her district handing out cups of hot chocolate to folks waiting in line for stores to open for the annual Black Friday shopping ritual. No rest for the weary.
- Seniors were already breaking in opposition to ObamaReidPelosi-Care by a healthy (no pun intended) 2-1 margin, with the scheme’s most ardent supporters coming from the largely non-voting under 30 crowd. But new polling indicates even the young-and-foolish are turning against this plan the Democrats are hell-bent on shoving down our collective throats. A huge electoral opportunity awaits Republicans next November….if they don’t blow it.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS
- “In the Republican Party particularly, there is a fatigue with RINOs and moderate Republicans.” – Rush Limbaugh
- “And what is Thanksgiving without pointing out the weighty wattle of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s pending health care bill? Nowhere in the behemoth bird’s 2,074 pages does it mention who will pay for the hernia you will get just trying to lift the lardy legislation.” – Columnist John L. Smith
- “It is incredibly difficult to be governor right now, and many incumbents once thought to be safe now face difficult races, according to early polls. . . . (P)olls have showed NY Gov. David Paterson (D) and NV Gov. Jim Gibbons (R) virtually assured of defeat, most likely in their respective primaries.” – Hotline On Call, 11/26/09
- “Democrats aren’t inclined to wait for the free-market economy to get back into gear — there’s an election next year, after all. So if Wall Street is even part-way back on its feet, naturally, it’s time to tax the heck of out it.” – Las Vegas Review-Journal editorial, 11/27/09

The perfect gift any time.

Hey thanks for having a day just for me. Especially after your day, Turkey day.
You turkeys are amazing. I guess the NPRI poll, prior to the Parson squad loading it up once they found out about it, proved that left alone the citizens of Nevada chose me more then your girl Snow White the missing ballot girl.
I guess not too many people pay attention to your foolish comments. Muth and Mushmouse a couple of cartoon characters who bet the ranch on a loser. Why not attack candidates who were lower than I in the poll. You people would say it was raining on a sunny day.
What a pair of fools you guys are going to look like when this campaign is over. Maybe the NY Times will call and ask you to write for them. HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
