U.S. Open Golf Coverage: NBC Edits Out More Than Just “Under God” From Its Opening Segment

By: Dave Logan

I do not tune in to the former major networks of CBS, ABC, and especially NBC. This has been my policy for years. However, I do make exceptions when something major is being broadcast. The U.S. Open being one of them. I tuned in on Sunday and picked up the coverage around the 8th hole. Later I was informed that NBC ran an opening segment featuring a patriotic theme, coupled with children reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, editing out “under God” — twice. Read on because there’s more.

Obviously it was a video but it had two main sound tracks laid in, one stopping while the other begins, then back to the original one. One was the Pledge by the children, then some military commands interrupted, then back to the finish of the Pledge. But when they came back to the Pledge they removed “under God” and continued to the end of the segment. Again, they did this twice. The second time it happened, there were no interruptions in the sound track UNTIL they got to the “under God” part — but when they came back to it, no “under God.”

We’re supposed to believe that everyone involved in this multi-million dollar production — editors, sr. editors, and all the producers simply thought it ok to edit out “under God?” Right. But not to worry, folks, NBC has apologized for the decision.

Just another flippin’ bad decision by our overseers in the state-run media. NBC, and its parent company, GE, in my opinion, are enemies of our country and its culture. Gotta kill off God… gotta do it now. We’ll just apologize along the way and the peasantry will accept what words we offer up to them. Sheep.

By the way, does Bob Costas have a comment?

Below is the current Pledge from 1954. Listen to the video again and see if “under God” is the only thing that was edited out. I think you’ll find more than just “under God” missing — the two Pledges have two different edits:

I pledge allegiance to the Flag
of the United States of America,
and to the Republic for which it stands:
one Nation under God, indivisible,
With Liberty and Justice for all.

Here’s the story along with the opening video segment… and NBC’s statement to the peasantry.

**Side note: When I first heard about this on Sunday, I sent the story to a friend for comment. This is what my friend returned to me. Says it all, I think.

Aw, Baby. Ike didn’t mean it, Sugar. Ike’ll never do it again. You know Ike loves you, Baby.

Panetta Report 4: Leon Panetta’s Communist Friend and the Chinese Spy

By: Trevor Loudon

Panetta Report 3 here.

Hugh DeLacy, 1940s

From at least the mid-1970s until 1986, President Barack Obama‘s nomination for Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta, had a close personal friendship with Hugh DeLacy, a Santa Cruz, California activist and a life long Marxist-Leninist.

Then Congressman Panetta and DeLacy exchanged letters over many years – almost all of which dealt with defense and foreign policy issues. Many involved requests by DeLacy for information, policy papers, etc., which Panetta went out of his way to supply.

What Panetta hopefully did not know was that in the year before this correspondence began, Hugh DeLacy had been in the People’s Republic of China meeting with three men, all at one time accused of having spied for the Soviet Union. One of them, Solomon Adler, was at that time, reliably reported to be a senior advisor to the Chinese intelligence services.

In February 1972, Hugh DeLacy received a letter from California academic John (Jack) S. Service. Clearly a reply to an earlier communication, the letter remarked that the men had possibly previously met in 1945 and should reconnect in the near future.

In 1945, DeLacy had been a secret Communist Party USA member, serving as a Democratic Congressman in Washington. DeLacy had been infamous at the time for his speeches on the floor of the House, denouncing US support for the Chinese Nationalists and trying his best to tilt US policy in favor of Mao Zedong’s communist forces.

Jack Service, at the time, was publicly linked to the “Amerasia” Soviet spy ring, which was also trying to move US foreign policy in favor of the Chinese communists.

By April 1974, DeLacy was writing to the Chinese ambassador, as a “life long friend of China,” trying to arrange a free trip for himself and a delegation of fellow Marxists to the “People’s Republic.”

The Chinese did not wish to fork out for the entire delegation, but did graciously invite Hugh DeLacy and his wife and comrade Dorothy on an all expenses paid trip to China.

In a letter dated December 16, 1974, Hugh DeLacy thanked Hu Hung-fan of the Communist Party controlled Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, for inviting himself and his wife to visit the country.

The DeLacy’s visited China for a month in April/May 1975. As guests of the Communist government, the couple visited factories, farms, political organizations and civic groups.

They also met with several Americans then in China – Jack Service and his old friends Solomon Adler and his wife Pat, and Frank Coe and his wife Ruth. This letter from Hugh DeLacy to Solomon and Pat Adler confirms the meeting.

The ” Wheeler” referred to above is Don Wheeler, a life long Communist Party member from Washington State.

Wheeler was employed during the late 1930s in the United States Department of Agriculture and the Treasury. From 1941 to 1946, he was one of many Communist Party members employed by the Office of Strategic Services, the forerunner of the C.I.A. While in government service, Wheeler was an active member of the Perlo spy group, run by another Party member, economist Victor Perlo.

Hugh DeLacy was also in correspondence with Victor Perlo in the mid-1970s.

The Perlo group was closely related to another Soviet spy ring operating at this time in Washington DC – the Silvermaster group, headed by another Agriculture Department and Treasury official, Nathan Gregory Silvermaster. Two key members of Silvermaster’s ring were fellow Treasury Department official Solomon Adler and assistant to the Executive Director, Board of Economic Warfare, Frank Coe.

Why was Hugh DeLacy hobnobbing in China with two identified spies – Coe and Adler, and one suspected spy, Jack Service? Was this an old commie’s social gathering? Unfortunately, it may have been more than that. Frank Coe and Sol Adler were both high level servants of the Maoist regime.

Albert Epstein, Sol Adler, Mao Zedong, Frank Coe in Wuhan, Hubei Province, 1965

Frank Coe had moved permanently to China to work for the Maoist regime during the Great Leap Forward, culminating in what Chinese history recalls as the Three Years of Disasters. By 1959, Coe was writing articles justifying the infamous Rectification campaign. He reportedly remained a government propagandist for many years.

After also moving to China, Sol Adler reportedly worked in various capacities in Chinese Communist Party Intelligence. According to the Cold War International History Project Bulletin, article: “Was Solomon Adler A Communist?” page 275, before his death in 1994, Adler was an “Advisor” to the “External Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the CCP, the department that handles such well-known figures as Larry Wu-tai Ching of the CIA, who was arrested by the FBI in 1983 for espionage – committing suicide in jail in 1986.”

Today, Leon Panetta is on the verge of assuming the most important defense post in the free world.

For more than 10 years, Mr. Panetta maintained a close friendship and regular correspondence with Hugh DeLacy, a long time Communist Party member and unrepentant Marxist-Leninist to his dying day. Panetta regularly supplied DeLacy with government reports and opinions on defense and foreign policy matters. A year before Panetta was elected to Congress and the correspondence began, his friend was in China as a guest of the communists meeting with several former and at least one reported active spy.

Mr. Panetta has apparently volunteered none of this information during any of his Senate confirmation hearings. Not one Senator has asked any questions about any of Panetta’s extensive history with communists and far left activists.

Does the American public deserve to know these disturbing facts about Leon Panetta’s background? What are the implications for US and Western security if Leon Panetta has been in any way compromised by his past associates?

Is that a risk that the US public should be forced to bear, without any obligation on Panetta to explain his past associations? What is the US Senate doing to safeguard US national security in regard to the Panetta matter? Will this situation become known in the history books as “Panettagate,” or will it be nipped in the bud now?

What do you think?

Panetta’s War on Reagan’s Defense Policies – A Time for Choosing

New Zeal

Call your Senator at 202-224-3121.

By: Cliff Kincaid, America’s Survival

Senate conservatives proudly call themselves “Reagan Republicans” because of Reagan’s “Peace Through Strength” military policies. But in Leon Panetta, whose nomination comes up for a full Senate vote for Secretary of Defense on Tuesday, they are being asked to endorse a man whose Congressional career was dedicated to fighting Reagan’s defense build-up and anti-communist policies. That is why the unanimous vote in favor of Panetta in the Senate Armed Services Committee is so mystifying.

Based on the facts about Panetta’s record and curious connections to a major figure in the Communist Party, which are only lately starting to get the attention of the conservative media, a vote for Panetta can only be viewed as trashing the Reagan legacy.

At a time when Reagan had said, “In virtually every measure of military power the Soviet Union enjoys a decided advantage,” Panetta sought to undermine Reagan’s pro-defense policies at every turn:

  • Panetta in 1983 endorsed the nuclear weapons freeze, a concept backed by the Soviet Union which would have frozen in place a Soviet nuclear advantage in Europe.
  • Panetta supported a ban on the testing and deployment of new nuclear ballistic missiles.
  • Panetta opposed CIA covert operations to undermine the Communist Sandinista regime, calling Reagan’s support for the Nicaraguan freedom fighters a “dirty war.”
  • Panetta opposed the neutron bomb, an enhanced radiation weapon designed to counter a Soviet tank build-up in Europe.
  • Panetta opposed the B-1 bomber, which was funded under Reagan and is today a key part of the fleet.
  • While most members of Congress were saluting Reagan and our troops for liberating Grenada, Panetta criticized the Reagan action and warned against the dispatch of a U.S. naval task force to the vicinity of Cuba. “This is not a time to seek out new targets to flex our military muscle,” Panetta said.
  • Panetta opposed the MX “Peacekeeper” missile, arguing it would jeopardize arms negotiations with the Soviets. Reagan had warned that defunding the system would “weaken our ability to deter war”

When the Senate approved Panetta’s nomination as CIA director, Senators were denied important information about his relationship with Communist Party figure Hugh DeLacy and DeLacy’s ties to Soviet and Chinese intelligence operatives. It is not clear if Senate investigators or the FBI, or both, failed to investigate Panetta’s background. However, Diana West writes about this sensitive topic in the Washington Examiner. Regarding the lack of attention to this critical matter, she writes, “Our legislative branch is falling asleep on the job over stories that should be giving them — and us — night sweats.”

DeLacy, one of only two Congressmen exposed as a member of the Moscow-funded Communist Party, was under suspicion when he was in the Congress (January 3, 1945 – January 3, 1947), having been elected as a Democrat who gave outspoken pro-communist speeches on the House floor. At the time, in response to his remarks in favor of the Chinese Communists, Republican Rep. Clare Boothe Luce had called him “Communist-fed,” one of the “Moscow-tuned voices,” a darling of the Communist Party publication the Daily Worker, and source of “Communist propaganda.” DeLacy, she said, had “a definite Communist bias,” after citing several cases of him belonging to Communist Party fronts. For his part, DeLacy would sing the praises in the Congressional Record of Harry Bridges, the “west coast labor leader” who was in fact a member of the Communist Party. He also attacked the House Committee on Un-American Activities, which exposed communists.

To cite just one example of DeLacy’s pro-Communist propaganda, he declared, “The Chinese Communists stand for a simple program which has long ago been achieved in Western nations, a program of simple land and tax reforms and of free elections.”

Years later, in 1974, DeLacy would cite his pro-Communist speeches on the floor of Congress in a successful bid to have Communist China pay for him to visit the country. There, DeLacy would meet with identified communist spy Solomon Adler, a former U.S. Treasury Department official later identified in Chen Hansheng’s memoirs as working for Chinese intelligence. He also met with another identified communist spy, Frank Coe, and accused spy John Stewart Service.

Eventually, DeLacy would move from Washington State, where he was elected to Congress, to California, settling in Rep. Panetta’s district. The DeLacy papers at the University of Washington feature a series of friendly exchanges between them, including requests for sensitive documents and Panetta’s eager desire to provide the information. Panetta paid tribute to DeLacy at a private party and in the Congressional Record, even hailing DeLacy for standing up to anti-communist “McCarthyism.” This was apparently a reference to DeLacy’s desire to keep his communist affiliations secret.

If all of this were not bad enough, Obama now wants Panetta to move from his super-sensitive CIA job to take over the Department of Defense. In the same way they overlooked the DeLacy connection, Senators are failing to take a look at what then-Rep. Panetta did to undermine the Reagan defense buildup.

There is also the matter of Panetta dramatically changing his position on the War Powers Act. He recently told Senator John McCain that “I believe very strongly that the president has the constitutional power as Commander In Chief to take steps that he believes are necessary to protect this country and protect our national interests. And obviously, I think it’s important for presidents to consult, to have the advice of Congress. But in the end, I believe he has the constitutional power to do what he has to do to protect this country.”

This was in response to McCain’s question: “Does it worry you if the Congress begins to tell the commander in chief as to exactly what the president can or cannot do in any conflict?”

But in 1983, then-Rep. Panetta declared (Congressional Record, September 28, 1983, page 26163) that the War Powers Act was “the law of the land” and that the Reagan Administration was in “brazen disregard” of the law by using military force and troops in the Middle East. Panetta said the law “was designed to provide enough flexibility for a President to respond to attacks, yet limit his ability to use troops abroad in hostilities or in potential hostilities without congressional authorization or a declaration of war.”

“It is incumbent upon this body to protect the integrity of our legislative process by asserting its legal and constitutional role in deciding the extent of our commitment in Lebanon,” Panetta went on. “Congress must not abdicate its authority to participate in foreign policy decisions.”

Panetta’s flip-flop on the War Powers Act suggests he is more than willing to carry out Obama’s policies, including what are likely to be major defense cuts.

It is tragic that the Senate has not been made aware of Panetta’s record. The record even shows that Panetta was so far to the left that he praised a pro-Soviet “peace activist,” Lucy Haessler, and asked President Jimmy Carter for clemency for Leonard Peltier, the radical American Indian activist serving life in prison for killing two FBI agents.

There is still time, however, for the Senate to do the right thing and get the facts before taking a reckless vote. A vote on his nomination as Secretary of Defense is scheduled for Tuesday. Any member of the Senate can place a hold on the nomination until the questions about his relationship with DeLacy and his opposition to Reagan’s “Peace Through Strength” policies are answered. It is a “Time for Choosing,” as Reagan once famously said.

Bernanke to Invent New Term for Printing Money

From: The National Inflation Association

When the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) reported their latest consumer price index (CPI) inflation data last week, everybody in the mainstream media worked tirelessly to spin the data in order to proclaim that U.S. price inflation is not a problem. Most articles in the media reported that inflation slowed in May due to falling gas prices. The truth is, gas prices rose last month and U.S. price inflation is spiraling out of control.

Price inflation based on the CPI on a year-over-year basis rose during the month of May to 3.57%, up from 3.16% in April, 2.68% in March, 2.11% in February, 1.63% in January, 1.5% in December, and 1.1% in November. The official rate of price inflation has more than tripled over the past 6 months. Yes, maybe the rate of year-over-year price inflation rose by slightly less in May over April, than it did in April over March, but this isn’t good news at all. This U.S. dollar is still rapidly losing its purchasing power and the rate at which it is declining in purchasing power is accelerating.

On an unadjusted basis, gas prices rose 3.6% in the month of May. The media is reporting gas prices based on the BLS’s seasonal adjustments. Only with the BLS’s deceptive seasonal adjustments did gas prices decline by 2% in the month of May. The BLS’s seasonal adjustments will actually reverse starting in the month of July and add to reported gasoline prices. NIA predicts that come August when the BLS releases its July CPI report, the media will begin focusing on unadjusted gasoline prices because the unadjusted gain will be less than the adjusted one. The media always reports the data that supports their agenda and ignores the data that works against it.

The media is obviously just saying what the U.S. government wants them to say. Larry Summers, a Keynesian economist who served for 5 years last decade as President of Harvard and was up until late-2010 director of President Obama’s White House National Economic Council, just said last week that, “the underlying rate of inflation is still trending downwards”. The media’s favorite economist Paul Krugman, a Keynesian who has an op-ed column in the New York Times, said last week that, “There’s really nothing here to shake my view that deflation, not inflation, is the threat.”

Krugman, who has been calling for massive price deflation the whole entire time that NIA has been predicting massive price inflation, is refusing to admit he has been wrong and is telling all Americans to ignore rapidly rising food and energy prices because he claims they are too volatile. He is telling the world to focus solely on the core CPI, which ignores food and energy, the two items that Americans need most to live and survive. Core CPI is weighed heavily by rents and America’s Real Estate bubble still isn’t done deflating. The only purpose of having a core CPI is for Keynesian economists like Krugman to use it to mislead Americans and deceive them into believing that inflation is not a problem.

Core CPI was an invention of the Nixon administration, which right there should tell you all you need to know about it. President Nixon’s idea for creating core CPI, was to deceive Americans about price inflation by excluding the items that were rising the most, which he would justify by calling these items “too volatile”. NIA has predicted from the very beginning that inflation will not effect all goods and services equally and that as inflation begins to spiral out of control, inflation would gravitate most towards the prices of the items that Americans need the most, and there is nothing that Americans need more than food and agricultural products, and to a lesser extent energy.

Whenever the mainstream media reports about global inflation and they show a map of the world, the map always shows massive inflation in Middle Eastern and Asian countries, with the U.S. having the least price inflation. The truth is, inflation in Middle Eastern and Asian countries isn’t many times worse than the U.S., it is just that their governments are many times more honest and aren’t as advanced in manipulating economic statistics as our government is. While all of the headlines from major American news organizations about U.S. inflation said last week that inflation is slowing and not a problem, those same news organizations wrote articles about Chinese inflation being at a new 34-month high of 5.5%. The fact is, official U.S. price inflation is also at its highest level in nearly three years and our real price inflation rate is actually higher than China’s reported rate of price inflation.

Based on the BLS’s CPI, year-over-year U.S. price inflation in the month of May of 3.57% was the highest year-over-year price inflation rate since October of 2008, right before the global financial crisis. If it wasn’t for the global financial crisis of late-2008/early-2009 and the world’s mistake of liquidating real assets and hoarding fiat U.S. dollars as a safe haven, it is likely that the official rate of U.S. price inflation would already be in the double-digits today. NIA estimates the real rate of U.S. price inflation, minus geometric weighting and hedonics, to currently be approximately 7.5% on a year-over-year basis. It is possible that the real U.S. price inflation rate will reach double digits in the second half of 2011. That will be devastating to the U.S. economy because at that point it will just about guarantee that the Federal Reserve will have to raise the federal funds rate to north of 10% by the middle of this decade.

The Federal Reserve’s balance sheet just reached a brand new record of $2.832 trillion, up from $2.815 trillion in the prior week, as we approach the end of QE2 at the end of June. The stock market is already anticipating the end of QE2 with the Dow Jones currently down over 900 points from its high at the end of April. The declining stock market is pretty much sowing the seeds for a QE3. After all, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke doesn’t want to see the phony U.S. economic recovery blow up in smoke.

Bernanke will do everything possible to disguise QE3 and will never admit to there being a QE3. Remember, this is the same Federal Reserve Chairman who lied to every single American on ’60 Minutes’ when he said, “We’re not printing money.” That is exactly what QE2 is, printing money, but just like how Bernanke won’t admit to printing money, Bernanke is now going to retire the term “quantitative easing” and come up with a new term for the Fed’s latest destructive policy of creating massive monetary inflation.

It is important to spread the word about NIA to as many people as possible, as quickly as possible, if you want America to survive hyperinflation. Please tell everybody you know to become members of NIA for free immediately at: http://inflation.us.
