In recent months, I’ve published posts about a Missouri dad who has spent more than $100,000 so far in a long fight to save his children from their violent, ex-con mother and about a Missouri mom waging a similar fight to keep her children out of the hands of their father — her estranged husband — who she says molests them. I published those stories as part of my ongoing series, Family Court Nightmares.

Today, however, I share news about corruption within the nation’s child protective services agencies that appears to have claimed at least three adult victims, including two in Georgia who were fighting to expose its dark underbelly to the public. I understand it’s long, but I think you’ll find it worth your time.

I begin with the work done by Nancy Schaefer, a former state senator and president of Eagle Forum Georgia, prior to a day in late March 2009 when her efforts came to an abrupt, unplanned and permanent end. Justin Gray of Fox 5 News in Atlanta gave this report.
