On the Rally to Restore the Constitution, 11/11/11 in Washington DC

“Patriotism is supporting your country all the time,
and your government when it deserves it.”

Mark Twain (1835-1910)

“The Constitution matters. The truth matters.”
Col. Terry Lakin (before being stripped of his rank and thrown into prison — 2010) Link

“Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force;
like fire, a troublesome servant and a fearful master.
…The Constitution is the guide which I never will abandon.”

George Washington (1732-1799) First President of the United States of America

In his essay on civil disobedience Henry David Thoreau wrote “that government governs best that governs least.” I concur with Mr. Thoreau, as does any freedom-loving American. The Progressives, as is their wont, have it all bass ackwards, and feel that an ideal government is that which governs the most, and forces people to do as they are told. Such a doctrine is anathema to the American spirit.

Unfortunately, due to decades of mis-education and propaganda the “American spirit” appears to be in short supply these days — among the intelligentsia, MSM, entertainment industry, and our own federal government it would seem to be missing altogether, or close enough so as to make no difference. They are, to put it bluntly, anti-American traitors (rather than practicing “free speech;” they are promoting sedition). These “freedomphobes” are terrified of liberty, and want nothing more than to have “we the people’s” every move monitored and controlled by an oppressive, monolithic nanny state. Link

The middle-class — the backbone of any republic — is disdained and ridiculed by Marxists, Fascists, and Elitists alike. The elimination of America’s middle-class has been underway for quite some time now, and we are rapidly approaching the end game. The bourgeoisie have been feared and despised by The Powers That Be since the days of the French Revolution — and with good reason. The middle-class comprises a strong bulwark against the encroachment of totalitarian over-reach; much as capitalism acts as a freedom promoting counter-weight to fiscal monopolies and elitism. Link

You do not need a Ph.D in economics to see that the financial policies that liberals have forced on this country do not work. Look at many of the urban areas that have been under long-term liberal control, and you are likely to see the same result — catastrophic failure. Do not take my word for it, look it up, study the results. Most of the areas that have been under liberal control for extended periods have suffered as a result. Do not listen to their twisted logic and verbal gymnastics; check out the facts and they will speak for themselves. Link Link Link

If these places were not constantly having their fiscal fannies pulled from the fire by the more conservative parts of the country, things would look much worse than they do. How much longer will the responsible citizens, cities, and states put up with having to bail out the fiscally irresponsible (i.e. “progressive”) ones? Link

Corrupt politicians (take your pick), corporate “players” (think Solyndra, GE, et al.), and certain union leaders make out like bandits while the local (and national) economy goes down the drain. I should mention the various liberal “think-tanks,” foundations, NGOs and GSEs (Government Sponsored Enterprises) that rake in money (much of it our money) as well. Link Link

Question: Your cesspool has sprung a serious leak in the basement, and the level of sewage is rising rapidly. Do you (A) plug up the leak and pump out the sewage, or (B) raise the ceiling? Congress thinks that raising the ceiling is the answer — “we the people” know they are wrong. It is well past time to stop raising the debt ceiling, and instead fix the leak and pump out the c–p. Link Link

Lately the media have treated us to the Kafkaesque absurdity of millionaire entertainers, and billionaire radicals, vociferously supporting protesters carrying placards saying “Eat the Rich.” Hypocrisy, thy name is “Liberal.” Democrats would be an endless source of bemusing entertainment were they not so self-righteously dangerous. Faux–conservative Republicans are no laughing matter either. Link Link Link

All of this would be bad enough, but our federal government, which should be acting as a watch-dog and preventing such perversions of capitalism, is one of the worst culprits in this never-ending shell-game of Ponzi schemes, kick-backs, and “tax and spend” policies. (That the intent of Keynesian economics was to destroy capitalism all along is the subject for another article — one that will look into the Fabian Society, John Maynard Keynes, the Frankfurt School, Harvard, Columbia, and the other usual suspects). Link Link

I say “never-ending,” but it is all about to end one way or another is it not? Unless you are willfully ignorant or apathetic, you are no doubt aware that it is all unraveling around us — on a global scale. Time is of the essence. Link Link Link

So to cut to the chase, I will skip over the multitudinous troubles that America currently faces, and get to the main point of this article — the status of the “Restore the Constitution Rally” being held in Washington DC this upcoming Veteran’s Day, 11/11/11. Link

First, let me say that I am heartened by the positive response that the rally has garnered from around the country. A group from California writes that they are bringing “the world’s largest instamatic camera” to take photos of the event. A mother in Michigan writes “There are many folks from MI attending this event. I will be there standing tall with these brave veteran’s and [other patriots] on 11/11/11 with my four children.” The response has been positive and passionate.

Opposing “we the people” is the giant corporate/banking/political machine that is grinding away our freedoms day by day. They give out Nobel Peace Prizes, hand out Oscars, and anoint our leaders. They are The Powers That Be (TPTB), and they despise “we the people” and feel that we are stupid, clueless, and powerless. Are they right? I guess we’ll find out on 11/11/11. Link

Unlike the Soros-funded astro-turf productions put on by The Machine, “we the people” do not have access to mega-money and fancy media pulpits. We make do with what we have, and pass the word along amongst ourselves. We hear it through the grapevine, and by coconut telegraph; we send out batch emailings, and share the truth via radio blogs and websites. The word may at first filter out slowly, but filter out it does.

Col. Harry Riley (US Army Ret.) of Patriots For America (PFA) and Veteran Defenders of America (VDA) is asking folks to make donations to the rally ($10 on up) if they can, so that the cost of permits, stage set-up, and the like may be met. We do not have the deep pockets that The Machine has, so any contributions are much appreciated. After the rally a full accounting of where the funds went will be posted, and any money that may be left over will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project. Link Link

B/Gen Charles Jones (USAF Ret.) recently pointed out that “It is apparent, based on many indisputable facts, that individual liberty, possession of property, national sovereignty, national security, and freedom will not survive if the present political power base prevails.”

Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely

In a similar vein, M/Gen. Paul Vallely (US Army Ret.) has proclaimed that “We cannot permit the current leaders in the White House, the halls of Congress and many judicial courts to continue in their efforts to lead us down this road of Progressive Socialism and chaos.”

When asked how people were reacting to news of the 11/11/11 rally, Col. James Harding (USAF Ret.), one of America’s most decorated pilots replied, “Every red blooded American we reach is on board, except those who will never be on board — leftists who have a very anti-American vision for America….” Link

(I am left to ponder where the US Navy and Marine Corp officers are on this. Are they waiting to see which way the wind blows before deciding whether or not to honor their oaths to defend the Constitution? A long and illustrious history running from John Paul Jones, to Admiral Farragut, to “Chesty” Puller, to Murphy, Monsoor, and Dakota Myers should tell them that now is the time to come to America’s defense). Link Link Link Link Link Link

Let me say that if disagreements over the statements made in “A Declaration to Restore the Constitutional Republic” have left anyone sitting on the fence; know that you do not have to agree with every point in the Declaration. There is no need to concur with every item — it is enough to understand that America is in grave danger on many fronts, and that the time for decisive action is now. As the saying goes, “you are not just one; you are one more.” Consider it emergency triage for America, and “medics” (i.e. patriots) are urgently needed.” Link

While some may choose to quibble over minutia, procrastinate over perceived imperfections, and dither over details, those of us who know the value of action will be gathering in Washington DC on Veteran’s Day, in order to throw a gauntlet down before America’s political elites. Whether or not there are still enough freedom-loving patriots left in this country to save America, or make America worth the saving, is something we will find out on 11/11/11, won’t we?

Laus Deo.

P.S. Please contact Patriots Union and/or Veteran Defenders of America for more information. Patriots Union and VDA patches are now available.

P.S.S. From Col. Riley: “You can mail your contribution payable to The U.S. Patriots Union (11-11-11 Event) mailed to The U.S. Patriots Union – P.O. Box 783 – Hermitage, TN 37076-0783 Mail donations are requested to be sent right away..

You may also contribute on-line at Patriots Union. On-line payments require personal information. In the name block, in addition to your name add (11-11-11 event) so that funds specifically identified for the 11-11-11 Declaration event day program can be identified and properly accounted.

This request is extremely urgent, necessary, and solely in support of the Restoration of Constitutional government in America and the removal of politicians leading our nation toward destruction. Would you please take the requested action today?”

The Transformation of Government

Where did governments — at every level — get the idea that they are supposed to manage the affairs of their citizens? Governments were first created in America to serve their citizens. Now, citizens must ask their government for permission to build a house, to drive a car, to open a business, or to buy a gun. The role and authority of government has changed over the years from an entity that serves the needs of its citizens to an entity that manages the affairs of its citizens.

In recent years, especially since the emergence of Agenda 21 in 1992, government has assumed the role of forcing its citizens into lifestyles that government dictates. Agenda 21 is a set of policy recommendations designed to achieve what it defines to be “sustainable development.” The document claims that this transformation of society is necessary to save the planet.

One of Agenda 21’s first policy recommendations is to “…ensure sustainable management of all urban settlements…” (Article 7:15), which means to force people off the land and into high-density, planned communities. Consequently, government decided that it is a bad thing for citizens to move to the suburbs. Government labeled this practice as “urban sprawl,” and condemned it. Moreover, government continues to enact laws to prohibit or severely discourage people from moving to the country.

Local governments are encouraged, or forced, to adopt Comprehensive Land Use Plans that often create “Urban Boundary Zones,” beyond which municipal services will not be provided. To discourage “urban sprawl,” some local plans even require up to 40 acres to build a single home outside a UBZ. Even then, the government often dictates the maximum size of the structure, the percentage of the land that must be left in its natural condition, and the location of the structure in relation to any stream or hill. In some instances, government can even require a home builder to purchase open land and dedicate it to the government as mitigation for despoiling what government says is a wetland or critical habitat.

Why does government think it has either the wisdom or the right to dictate to a private citizen where he should live?

Government management of lifestyles doesn’t stop with dictating where its citizens must live. With the introduction of the International Green Construction Code, government will be able to force private citizens to use the paint and building material it dictates, as well as the plumbing fixtures and appliances it dictates. Moreover, under the specifications of this onerous code, government can require “Smart Meters,” and even specify the level of natural light that must be available in the building.

This transformation of the function of local government is partially the result of requirements dictated by state governments, but primarily, it is the result of pressure from the federal government. The federal government gave the American Planning Association more than $5 million to produce model legislation for state governments to adopt. The APA produced “Growing Smart: Legislative Guidebook.” The federal government offered states a variety of grants to adopt and implement the legislation promoted in the APA’s guidebook. The federal government has provided a variety of grants to local governments and to non-government organizations, to promote and implement the recommendations set forth in Agenda 21.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development offers a “Partners for Sustainable Communities” grant program that has Agenda 21’s sustainable development projects working in 49 of the 50 states. The Department of Transportation and the Environmental Protection Agency also has grant programs that promote the implementation of Agenda 21’s sustainable development recommendations.

Perhaps more than any other influence, Agenda 21 is responsible for transforming government from a servant of the people to the master of the people. Agenda 21 is the outgrowth of a fundamental transformation of philosophy established in 1976 at the United Nations Conference on Human

Settlements. That conference adopted a document which said:

Land… cannot be treated as an ordinary asset, controlled by individuals and subject to the pressures and inefficiencies of the market. Private land ownership is also a principal instrument of accumulation and concentration of wealth and therefore contributes to social injustice…. Public control of land use is therefore indispensible.

The United States government accepted and endorsed this document with signatures provided by William K Reilly, who was to become the Administrator of the EPA, and by Carla A. Hills, who was to become U.S. Trade Representative who negotiated the World Trade Organization and the North American Free Trade Agreement.

The United States also endorsed “Our Common Future,” the report of the 1987 U.N. World Commission on the Environment, as well as Agenda 21, produced by the 1992 U.N. Conference on Environment and Development. Since the 1970s, the United States environmental policy has been guided by the United Nations. These policies are constructed on the Marxist idea that government exists for the purposes of ensuring that all people benefit equally from the earth’s resources. Marx says that government should abolish private property, and should take from those who have the ability to produce wealth, and give it to those people who do not produce wealth.

This is the objective of Agenda 21. This is the ultimate goal of sustainable development. This is happening in your community.

Planning 101 is American, Planning 102 is Agenda 21 is anti-American

By: Henry Lamb

Local governments have two fundamental responsibilities: (1) protect the rights of the citizens; and (2) provide the services the citizens authorize. To meet these responsibilities, local elected officials must look to the future and anticipate what services their citizens may want, and construct plans to meet those needs. This kind of planning will be referred to as Planning 101.

Since 1992, with the emergence of Agenda 21, the entire concept of planning has undergone a major transformation. This new kind of planning will be referred to as Planning 102. Planning 102 is not concerned about protecting the rights of citizens. Planning 102 is not concerned with what services the citizens of a community might want in the future. Planning 102 is the art of transforming existing communities into the utopian communities envisioned in Agenda 21, and shoe-horning local citizens into them.

This process began in 1993 with President Clinton’s Executive Order that created the President’s Council on Sustainable Development, which focused primarily on transforming urban centers into “sustainable communities.” The process continues now, with President Obama’s Executive Order that created the White House Rural Council, which focuses primarily on the 16 percent of the population who live on 80 percent of the rural landscape.

This process is being advanced by the Department of Housing and Urban Development through its $95-million Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant Program. To receive a HUD regional planning grant, all the counties and major cities within the region must sign a Memorandum of Agreement to implement the grant according to the dictates of HUD. It is no accident that the MOA requires the participants “…to support multijurisdictional planning efforts that integrate housing, land use, economic and workforce development, transportation, and infrastructure investments.” These goals are the same goals specified in Chapter 7 of the U.N. Agenda 21 document adopted by the U.N. Conference on Environment and Development in 1992.

The Meramec Regional Planning Commission, which is a part of the Missouri Association of Council of Governments, wants a hefty Sustainable Communities grant from HUD. Dent County, Missouri, is one of the counties that must sign a MOA in order to get this grant.

Fat chance! No way! Forgetaboutit!

A September 26 letter to Bonnie Prigge, Executive Director of the MRPC, begins: “The Dent County Commissioners this morning voted unanimously and without reservation NOT to sign the Memorandum of Agreement for the Sustainable Development Consortium as requested by the MRPC…”

The letter continues:

This Sustainable Development Program of HUD, DOT, and EPA is directly, and irrefutably connected with the United Nations Agenda 21. Both President Bill Clinton and most recently President Barack Obama have signed Executive Orders directing all agencies of the Federal Government to work with state and local community governments in a joint effort to “reinvent” government using the guidelines outlined in the United Nations Agenda 21. The tenets of Agenda 21 undermine private property rights and propose extreme environmental, social, economic and educational policies to be implemented worldwide by National, State and Local governing bodies through the use of Sustainable Development planning, programs and policies.

read the complete letter

The “planning” required by the HUD grant is Planning 102. Fortunately, the Dent County Commissioners know the difference between Planning 101 and Planning 102, and have sent a clear message to the professional staffs of the relevant bureaucracies and to the federal government.

Dent County is not the only county in Missouri that knows the difference between the Planning 101 and Planning 102. Organizations such as the Property Rights Congress, with chapters in several counties, and Citizens for Private Property Rights, have been busy educating voters about the consequences of sustainable development as defined in Agenda 21. They have been busy educating candidates for public office and elected officials as well. That’s why it is now impossible for slick, professional facilitators and bureaucrats to pull the wool over the eyes of many, if not most, of Missouri’s county commissioners.

Missouri has 19 Regional Planning Commissions. The staff of several of these bureaucracies would like to have HUD grants to help advance Planning 102 within their region. Despite the strong and growing push-back by well-informed citizens and elected officials, HUD has been very successful in spending tax dollars to implement policies that originate in the U.N.’s Agenda 21.

With a deficit of $1.65 trillion dollars, growing by billions of dollars every day, why are HUD, DOT, and the EPA trying so hard to spend money the nation does not have, on a program that the nation does not need, that will impose government-mandated restrictions on behavior, that the people do not want?

To one degree or another, since 1993, the federal government has been dominated by people who believe that “government control of land use is indispensible;” that government-control of the economy is essential; and that sustainable development is only government-approved development.

People who hold these beliefs have no place in any government in the United States. Voters put them in office, unaware of their beliefs; voters who have now seen the consequences of these beliefs can remove them from office on Election day.

Chad Kent Speaks

If you watch the news regularly then you’ve probably heard of Four Loko – a caffeinated alcohol drink that became enormously popular over the last couple of years. Of course, that brought it to the attention of the nanny-staters in the federal government because apparently adults can’t be trusted to drink caffeine and alcohol at the same time:

“On November 17, 2010, the [Food and] Drug administration (FDA) sent a warning letter to the company that essentially advised Phusion Projects to remove Four Loko from the marketplace or else face potential product seizures, injunctions, and prosecutions.”

After receiving this letter, the makers of Four Loko agreed to take out the caffeine altogether… and that still wasn’t good enough for those who want to see the product banned altogether. For example, an influential advocacy group called Alcohol Justice said that caffeine-free Four Loko and it’s competitors:

“may be just as dangerous as their caffeinated predecessors because of the combination of high alcohol with sweet flavors.”

In other words, the problem isn’t that the product poses a health risk… it just tastes too darn good. So now American citizens aren’t responsible enough to enjoy alcoholic drinks that have caffeine or that taste too good. Thanks to the FDA and the busy-bodies at Alcohol Justice, we’re about one step away from requiring a government monitor be present while you drink alcohol to make sure you are doing it properly.

Of course, they wouldn’t even be happy stopping there. Everything I’ve seen from the opponents of Four Loko leads me to believe that they won’t be happy until it’s banned completely.

If you’ve known me for any period of time, you know that I’m not a fan of banning much of anything. The reason for that is, it violates our God-given right to liberty. Every time some over-active politician bans something he is taking away your ability to do what you choose with your body.

For example, let’s say the politicians pass a law that bans hitting yourself in the head with a hammer (don’t put it past them). Believe it or not, I have no current plans to hit myself in the head with a hammer – at least not intentionally.

Does that ban still violate your right to liberty? Yes it does – it has taken away a choice in how I live my life. Once that law is passed, I’m no longer choosing not to hit myself. I’m doing it because the government has told me I cannot do it.

Whether or not I had plans to do whatever activity is being banned is incidental to whether or not the ban violates my right to liberty. Freedom means having the ability to choose how I live my life to the greatest extent possible – and this ban removes one of the choices for how I live my life.

So even though I had no intention of ever trying the caffeinated Four Loko, I am a little less free today thanks to our nannies in the FDA. Frankly, it’s insulting that they believe the American people aren’t responsible enough to make our own choices when it comes to alcoholic beverages.

“Let People alone, and they will take Care of themselves, and do it best; and if they do not, a sufficient Punishment will follow their Neglect, without the Magistrate’s Interposition and Penalties.”

HR 1505: Giant Land Grab for the Police State

HR 1505: giant land grab for the police state

By Chuck Baldwin

Montana Republican Congressman Denny Rehberg lent his support for ceding more power and authority to the federal government’s emerging police state by supporting HR 1505, the “National Security and Federal Lands Protection Act.” This monstrous bill empowers the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to confiscate to itself tens of thousands of acres of land across the US northern border. This is for “national security” reasons, of course. Gag!

My friend, Dr. Ed Berry, has written a very astute summary and analysis of HR 1505 on his web site, PolyMontana.com. I am going to be borrowing heavily from his research in this column.

Dr. Berry rightly notes that the DHS is the giant head of no less than seven federal agencies: Transportation Security Administration (TSA), US Customs & Border Protection (CBP), US Citizenship & Immigration Services (CIS), US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), US Secret Service (SS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and US Coast Guard (USCG).

Dr. Berry says pointedly, “FEMA is the one with the small cages to put you in if you do not behave. TSA is the one that gives you a useless body scan before you get on an airplane, bus, etc. DHS is the one adding its sensors to streetlights around America and the promoter of E-Verify and Real ID as a cradle-to-grave biometric tracking system for every American.” And it is CBP that the DHS is using to seize property along the US northern border.
