Nope, sorry! These are not new house party dance moves, these are the moves that President Roosevelt pulled off in the name of the greater good for America and knowing progressives they way I know them now, I don’t think so. Today we will look at the massive amount of federal agencies, business regulations and anti-trust harassment laws that were in effect at this time. Then I will expose FDR’s so-called ways that he protected American liberties and freedoms – in this case, mostly a lack thereof. I will show Roosevelt’s talent for creating a manufactured crises (you know, that whole burning of farm surplus to cause a food shortage and price controls).
Looking at today’s pile of government agencies and regulations, and with the governments budget shortfalls, you’d think they would want to cut back and slim a lot of them down to save money and streamline operations. But no… just recently DHS was reported as buying – get this – 450 MILLION rounds of .40 S&W pistol ammo with a hope of an unlimited supply and possibly a 4 year contract. That breaks down to 3 rounds for every man, woman and child in the U.S. Even the FBI doesn’t use that much ammo in a year.
This next set of facts are in a nutshell the many alphabet agencies that Roosevelt created and passed on as the so-called protection of America.
Let’s do the Roosevelt alphabet agency dance, yeah!
1. NRA – NATION RECOVERY ADMIN: In 1933, this agency’s job was to “stimulate” the economy by ending wage and price deflation and to control what it deemed unfair competition. They also wanted to control work hours as well and to not follow the NRA regulations meant jail time.
Example: A dry cleaner in New York City named Jacob Maged, went to jail for 8 months for charging – get this – a whopping 35 cents instead of the NRA price regulation of 40 cents!
Roosevelt believed wrongly that the NRA would serve well his belief in the under-consumption theory of economics. That artificially higher wages meant greater purchasing power… this alone would pull America out of the Great Depression; if people earned more, they would buy more and this might “stimulate” industrial and economic recovery.
Final thoughts on government price controls from Adam Smith:
“People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public or in some contrivance to raise prices.”
Two years later in 1935, cooler heads at the Supreme Court declared the NRA unconstitutional.
2. AAA – THE AGRICULTURAL ADJUSTMENT ACT: In Roosevelt’s first 100 days in office, he wanted to restructure all American farming programs. Some farmers were picked out and paid not to grow any crops and crop price controls were retroactive back to 1910 with millers and processors paying for much of the program. And with centralized power given to the Secretary of Agriculture, he would: set the process tax, set targeted pricing of many commodities and tell farmers how much land they could or couldn’t use. This was a way for Roosevelt to control the American food supply and the United States became the largest food exporter of the time.
The AAA destroyed and plowed under 10 million acres of cotton, killed 6 million piglets and also burned out millions of acres of useful farmland. Welcome food shortages and soup lines everyone.
3. PWA – PUBLIC WORKS ADMIN: This was the first “shovel ready” relief program in 1933. Over 4 billion dollars were spent for only a lousy 34,000 projects.
4. NYA – NATIONAL YOUTH ADMIN: Another “make work” public works program targeted at young people. It claimed to have put 4.5 million young people to work.
5. SEC – SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION: In 1934, the SEC was made out to be a so-called “Watch Dog” on the federal level to protect against stock market and securities fraud, but… in 2001, it was tarnished forever by the Enron scandal.
6. CWA – CIVIL WORKS ADMIN: This was designed to employ 4 million people in 1933 in government civil service jobs, but… was found to be useless and got nothing done. It was disbanded almost a year later.
7. FERA – FEDERAL EMERGENCY RELIEF ADMIN: This was a program in 1933 that expanded to include funding for over 5 million households each month and works projects for the unemployed. This included free vaccinations and free adult reading classes.
8. FHA – FEDERAL HOUSING ADMIN: This program in 1934 was to ‘stimulate’ the downtrodden building industry, by providing small loans for home building.
9. NLRA – NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS ACT: In 1935, this program gave special protection to all labor unions.
Now, let’s go do the FDR anti-liberty shuffle! You put your right foot forward, your head bowed down and put your wrists together and the sound of a door slam! Is this fun, or what folks?
This is how it is in the world of the lamestream media and history teachers with radical agendas that keep yacking about how FDR was the great protector of America’s freedoms and saved us all from ourselves through his wonderful and enlightened programs. Let’s take a real look at Roosevelt’s civil liberties record for the time being, shall we?
COURT PACKING – In 1937, Roosevelt pulled off an almost perfect court packing con to place judges that would only side with his ideas and issues. This would enable him to strong arm anyone who would oppose him through the court system.
ILLEGAL WIRETAPPING AND UNWARRANTED SURVEILLANCE – During all of Roosevelt’s time in office, he truly hated anyone that disagreed with him. I mean, how could that narrow minded ba^&%d disagree with me? I am the president of the United States! One of his favorite tools was wiretapping both friend and foe. Can you believe there were newspapers and reporters of that time that were not shills of the White House? Reporters like Walter Trohan and his editor Robert McCormick, both of the Chicago Tribune. They got under Roosevelt’s skin because they wrote an article opposing FDR’s ideas. I mean, how dare they, right? So, he sent the IRS after them and their families. Wiretapped their homes and offices and sent the FBI to harass them.
Roosevelt claimed the reason McCormick hated him was because he had stolen a girlfriend from McCormick.
IRS AUDITS – He used audits as personal weapons against both the opposition and friends that were of no use to him anymore. Almost all of the audits Roosevelt ordered found mostly nothing at all.
RANDOM CHARGES OF SEDITION – Later on, Roosevelt thought he would use an old Woodrow Wilson trick during times of war. Let’s charge anyone that opposes me or the war with sedition and accuse others of having “subversives minds” and ruin them
FDR’S OWN PERSONAL SPY NETWORK – Roosevelt also had his own little spy guys he would send out to dig up dirt on anyone and maybe blackmail them, or embarrass the opposition into quitting. He even used the Secret Service as his goon squad for certain jobs. Have you ever heard of the Boy Spies of America? I did about 2 years ago from Glenn Beck. This was a very subversive group of kids who were recruited by FDR to watch out for people speaking out against the war or maybe talking against the president or disagreeing with his ideas. They were to report it as fast as possible.
CONTROL OF THE FREE PRESS AND THE MEDIA – In 1934, Congress passed the Communications Act of 1934. This was the first real fairness in media bill. This was to force radio, TV and movies to propagandize government content as many times a day as possible. To get the masses onto the right train of thought. Does this at all sound familiar to you? Just like George Orwell.
THE JAPANESE-AMERICAN INTERNMENT CAMPS – This should have been the most poisonous chapter in Roosevelt’s history in office. This was the most disgusting civil rights violation in American history. I don’t care if it was a time of war or peace. You never do that with proper procedures as stated in the Constitution period! This was wrong then, just as it was wrong when Andrew Jackson pushed the Indians onto worthless reservation land. This story starts a little after Pearl Harbor.
During this time, most Japanese-Americans were living in the western states, mostly in California. They were earning a quiet living as farmers. They were hard working and loyal to America, always doing their part. But there was this jealous group of racists known as THE NATIVE SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF THE GOLDEN WEST who opposed Japanese immigrants.
One congressman – Leland Ford of L.A., shared this racist view and said this:
“We may as well be honest, we do. It’s a question of whether the white man lives on the coast or the brown man.”
I was born in California and I thought Californians were supposed to be sooo enlightened and be beyond such things.
General John Dewitt was tasked with looking into the Japanese-American’s situation and after working closely with them after Pearl Harbor, he reported that there was absolutely no danger from these loyal Americans and they should be left in peace. After just two whole months, pressure from wild and unproven rumors had changed his mind. Then he went around saying the dumbest thing, “that a Jap is a Jap.” I guess we could change this guy’s name to DEWITTLESS.
Roosevelt then signed Executive Order 066 and in one fell swoop put a whole class of honest Americans in prison camps with no recourse. He denied those Americans their freedom for reasons of “Military Necessity,” without the right of Habeas Corpus. No protection from search and seizure and no protection of their property.
These poor people were stuffed in barren, dusty and filthy fairgrounds areas (like the one in Merced, CA), or placed in the middle of nowhere. Housed in basically thin-walled wooden boxes, surrounded by barbed wire, guard towers with machine guns mounted, filthy community bathrooms and charged with no crimes.
So, this was the legacy of the country’s greatest president of all time… really? A man that was such a progressive minded socialist, who disregarded the Constitution on every occasion, who stomped down on the lives of businessmen, hard working average Joes and a whole race of American citizens thrown in prison for no reason. Yep, sounds like the greatest… as in dumb ass.
