Do We, the Sovereign People of the sovereign nation of the United States of America want the International Criminal Court to rule over us? Perhaps to convict our politicians, when they do not abide by global laws and standards? Perhaps any of the rest of us?

Today, that is happening to Charles Taylor, the former elected leader of Liberia. CBS News reports the following:

(CBS/AP) LEIDSCHENDAM, Netherlands – In a historic ruling, an international court convicted former Liberian President Charles Taylor on Thursday of aiding and abetting war crimes and crimes against humanity for supporting notoriously brutal rebels in neighboring Sierra Leone in return for blood diamonds.

Taylor is the first head of state convicted by an international court since the post-World War II Nuremberg military tribunal.

Presiding Judge Richard Lussick said the 64-year-old warlord-turned-president provided arms, ammunition, communications equipment and planning to rebels responsible for countless atrocities in the 1991-2002 Sierra Leone civil war. Lussick called the support “sustained and significant.”

“Mr. Taylor, the trial chamber unanimously finds you guilty” of 11 charges including terror, murder, rape and conscripting child soldiers, Lussick told Taylor.

Of all the reactions to this, around the world, this is what CBS chose to report:

Human rights activists hailed the convictions as a watershed moment in the fight against impunity for national leaders responsible for atrocities.

“Taylor’s conviction sends a powerful message that even those in the highest level positions can be held to account for grave crimes,” said Elise Keppler of Human Rights Watch. “Not since Nuremberg has an international or hybrid war crimes court issued a judgment against a current or former head of state. This is a victory for Sierra Leonean victims, and all those seeking justice when the worst abuses are committed.”

This particular U.N. court, The Special Court for Sierra Leone, has its own Web site. It indicates that Liberia did not ask for this trial.

The Special Court for Sierra Leone was set up jointly by the Government of Sierra Leone and the United Nations. It is mandated to try those who bear the greatest responsibility for serious violations of international humanitarian law and Sierra Leonean law committed in the territory of Sierra Leone since 30 November 1996.

Our tax money contributed to it, as reported there.

The Special Court is the first international criminal tribunal to be funded entirely from voluntary contributions from governments. The Special Court has so far received contributions in cash and in kind from over 40 states, representing all geographic areas of the world. Canada, the Netherlands, Nigeria, the United Kingdom and the United States have provided strong support. In 2004, 2011 and 2012, the Special Court has been funded by subventions from the United Nations.

To borrow from a well-known meme:

Then….

Evidently, Charles Taylor needed to be brought to justice, for massive iniquity and atrocity. It could have happened by the sovereign government of Sierra Leone (or Liberia) perhaps with a little help from international friends, with a singular arrangement made. Instead, a very dangerous precedent has been confirmed. Globalists and transnationalists are bent upon vastly expanding such United Nations powers – powers in direct contradiction to our national charter, the Declaration of Independence, thus the U.S. Constitution built upon its foundation.

A goal has been set in America that by 2025, United States intelligence, thus our policing powers, are to be centrally coordinated, as an international or one-world operation. And after police work comes trial, conviction, and execution.
