RNC Co-Chairman Sharon Day Statement on South Carolina Union Boss Piñata of Gov. Haley

WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Co-Chairman Sharon Day released the following statement regarding the video of South Carolina AFL-CIO leader Donna Dewitt bashing a piñata effigy of Gov. Nikki Haley:

“Democrats and their Big Labor allies in South Carolina have sunk to a new low, with the president of the state AFL-CIO bashing a piñata effigy of Gov. Nikki Haley with a baseball bat,” said RNC Co-Chairman Sharon Day.

“The Obama campaign, the South Carolina Democratic Party, and the DNC should immediately denounce this crude and unwarranted behavior. It’s no secret that Democrats’ campaigns have long been bankrolled by the AFL-CIO. But now that we see how Big Labor truly feels about leaders who stand up for the right to work, the Obama campaign’s ongoing assault on free enterprise is less surprising.

“Republicans will continue to make this election about substantive issues and putting unemployed Americans back to work, even if Democrats’ allies want to resort to ugly, juvenile public displays of hatred.”
