Urgent – Death Panels Here, Doctors Plea For Help

Doctors across America are sick. A new and desperate plight has surfaced in emergency rooms across the nation for both patients and doctors alike. The following blog by one valiant doctor speaks for thousands of doctors being forced to go against their natural instincts and abilities to allow further hospital care and re-admit patients.

Effective October 2012, doctors at hospitals across the land are being forced by the Obama administration to break their Hippocratic Oath. Obama’s revamped Medicare has now begun forcing doctors at hospitals to turn their backs on patients no matter how critical their need for re-admittance. Obamacare has activated a mandate through Medicare that will cost thousands of lives and serves as the precursor to Obama’s inhumane and authoritarian Death Panels.

The following excerpts are used with permission from the blog of Dr. Thomas Hamilton (LINK/LINK), an American doctor who speaks truth to power. Dr. Hamilton describes how he was torn between providing medical help to a very sick senior or turning her away to face a certain and tragic fate without treatment.

“It was my plan to admit this woman to the hospital. I found out a little later that this same woman had been a patient here just slightly more than 2 weeks ago with a DIFFERENT DIAGNOSIS. I was told that if this woman was admitted, the hospital would not be paid.

The new Medicare rule now is that if the same Medicare patient is re-admitted to the hospital within 30 days, the hospital will not be paid. When they first started this nonsense they said this only applied to patients with the same diagnosis. Now they have “expanded” the rule to include re-admissions for any reason. So if you’re in the hospital for pneumonia, and 3 weeks later, you break your leg…….too bad. Medicare will not pay the hospital to fix your leg.

A little later a man was brought in by ambulance, very sick, in pain, and near death. I did my usual evaluation and treatment, doing my best to ease pain and stabilize this man’s illness. He needed to be admitted. To my chagrin I found out that he had been treated for the SAME problem at a DIFFERENT HOSPITAL about 10 days prior. If I admitted this man, our hospital would be paid nothing. I admitted the man.

My friends I am caught in a terrible position. I could have given treatment to both of these people and sent them out. There is no doubt that both of them would have died. Oh, I could also be sued for malpractice, but nobody cares about that.

The good doctor goes on to explain:

“As more and more are added to the Obamacare rolls, there will be less and less access. People will get sicker and yes, people will die because of it. I had a sick and sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach today after both of these incidents. We have a good hospital. Our nurses, technicians, and support staff work very hard and they deserve to be paid for their efforts. I am not so worried about myself as I am near retirement, but I worry for all the younger folks in the healthcare business and I worry about our seniors who are in the long run going to be sacrificed as the government implements cost cutting shenanigans to cover up their broken promise made way back in 1964.

In a recent article, SICK – NO APPEAL – IT’S OBAMACARE, I wrote:

“Slashed doctors’ pay, reduced services to patients of all ages and medical devices and testing equipment made by cheap overseas labor are cutting-block initiatives by the Obama government. Already targeted are our most defenseless — our mentally and physically disabled in institutionalized care who require the most medical assistance at a higher cost? Obamacare is not about care. It is not about using America’s advanced medical skills and technology, the finest in the world, to save lives of Americans regardless of race, age or class. It is about control. It is a power play that takes over one eighth of the U.S. economy. If not repealed, it is the unveiling of how a once great medical system became an ugly and deadly government-run ‘business’ in America.”

It is incomprehensible how Barack Obama can throw billions of dollars at political cronies, irresponsible unions, failed and bankrupt “green” projects, elaborate vacations, contraceptives, sterilizations and abortions-on-demand when those critical dollars could go towards improving medical care for all Americans from newborns to seniors. Under Obamacare, average Americans and their families are targeted. Where is Obama’s oft-repeated demand for “fairness” and an “equal playing field” when he cunningly exempts himself, his elitist friends and political cronies from the perils of his signature law — Obamacare?

  1. I am an old man who has lived enough, more than enough, really.
I am also dying one breath at a time.
The VA covers me and it’s more than adequate.
There are millions like me – the Baby Boom.
You cannot possibly take care of us at any cost …
… reason tells us that is impossible.
Let us die but make sure it’s comfortable.
Like that one scene in Soylent Green where they crank up the Beethoven and wheel Edward G. Robinson into the hopper.
To paraphrase a line from a favorite movie …
“I’m not dead yet. Really, I feeling much better now.”

  2. I believe it should have also been in the law that the turned away should have it personally explained to them by their elected representatives, but I’d hate anyone having their last sight in this world be Nancy Pelosi. As incredible as this may seem, it’s only the beginning.

  3. The last person we want to piss off are those who left a bit of themselves in a foreign country doing what our government told us to do. Death becomes acceptable whether our own or someone else. Never desirable nor agreeable nor easy to accept, but we live with it and do our job. Knowing if we didn’t it could get a whole lot worse in a heart beat.

Read and print out the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, and The Constitution. This is “our nation” not his, nor hers, and the Constitution can NOT be changed by an executive order, a law written or passed in congress. The most dangerous person in the world is one who had everything taken except their freedom.

Forget the damn birth certificate. Obama is not a legal president as per the Constitution. BOTH parents must be United States citizens. It was debated and proven in the SCOTUS. Learn your laws. Every law, every executive order, every appointment Obama has passed or done has been illegal.

Obama and ALL his enablers need to be tried for treason of the highest kind. Every paper that has supported him needs all the staff to be tried for sedition. If you are waiting for the White Knight to ride in and save you then you can kiss it all goodbye. We gave the convicts the keys to the WH.

  7. What you have cited is an issue, but it has nothing to do with ObamaCare. It’s a Medicare decision to stop paying for treatment that results from medical errors. The Medicare decision was made in 2007 and took effect in 2008 before Obama was elected to office. According to AMA studies, between 150,000 – 300,000 people die every year from preventable medical mistakes. That is the doctors own studies. That’s the equivalent of taking two full airplanes a day and crashing them into the ground. That’s how many people die. The study doesn’t count people who have been injured. The problem was that doctors or hospitals would make mistakes that would injure a patient to some degree and then bill Medicare for the costly treatment to fix their mistakes. I’m pretty certain we can all agree that as taxpayers we *don’t* want to pay doctors and hospitals good money to fix their mistakes. The main problem is in determining the difference between a poor outcome (something bad happening) because of a mistake by the hospital or doctor, or as a natural result or complication of the procedure. These are the types of issues that were initially targeted.
“The issues targetted by the plan include:
    1. Catheter-associated urinary tract infections.
    2. Bed sores.
    3. Objects left in after surgery.
    4. Air embolism, or bubbles, in bloodstream from injection.
    5. Patients given incompatible blood type.
    6. Bloodstream staph infection.
    7. Ventilator-associated pneumonia.
    8. Vascular-catheter-associated infection.
    9. Clostridium difficile-associated disease (gastrointestinal infections).
    10. Drug-resistant staph infection.
    11. Surgical site infections.
    12. Wrong surgery.
    13. FallsThe proposed regulations are open for comment and are planned to take effect in October 2008.”

What was happening was that someone would come in for heart surgery and the surgeon would do a good job. However, the patient would end up with a MRSA infection. These can be prevented or reduced to practically zero by the hospital. Medicare finally decided that the hospital was making mistakes and they weren’t going to pay extra to fix the hospitals mistakes. That’s actually a good thing and saves the taxpayers money.
It has nothing to do with Obamacare.

What happens when that UTI via catheter turns into sepsis re: being turned away?

We’re to believe the hospitals (they’ve noted person seen at another hospital, not even the same one was refused), will eat the cost of fixing their mistake? They’ll be turned away.

Those aren’t conditions I would want to work under.

  10. When I heard that this ‘president’ was against providing any medical care to a baby who survived an abortion I knew he’d care as much for us as he did for that baby. That’s the root of all of this folks….

  11. After much thought, I am ready to be put to sleep, if this country can’t afford medical care the least they can do is give me a painless (hopefully) morphine overdose. Heck I did for my last two dogs to put them out of their misery. Where do I go to do this? Tmorrow seems like a wonderful day to die. Let’s get this show on the road and quit whining about it. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are millions of folks just ready to end this slow death that once was a great country. Death with some dignity seems more appealing than death by homelessness, benign neglect, starvation, or a combination of all all of the above.
