Buying Time For Putin: The Nuclear Card

By: Terresa Monroe-Hamilton

In A New York Nuke Minute” – nukes over Manhattan are what concern Barack Obama, evidently… Russia, not so much. From our Marxist leader who has done his very best to gut us militarily and destroy all our nuclear arsenal, so that we could not retaliate or protect ourselves, comes a sudden concern for nukes in New York. I sincerely doubt Obama has seen the radioactive light. Instead, this has the feel of another distraction either to lessen scrutiny on his failure to do anything meaningful over Russia and/or to buy his buddy Putin time.

In a twofer yesterday, headlines were thrown out over Obama’s new fixation with nuclear warfare.

In a scene out of War Games, and a very stupid one at that, David Cameron joined Barack Obama, Angela Merkel and Xi Jinping, as well as a host of other world leaders to play a “nukes on the loose” war game to see how they would cope with a terrorist nuclear attack. I kid you not. Supposedly, the game was to scare some reality into our intrepid leaders. Only the Germans dared to say anything at the table over this childish and idiotic farce. But, Merkel was put in her place and the game went on. I bet they were playing Nuclear Risk. There is such a game – I have it (come on… you’re not surprised are you?). Heads of State sat around seeing how many millions they could annihilate. Given the current team, it was probably a close call:

In the nuclear war game, demonstrated by actors in a series of videos, a “dirty bomb” attack is set to take place in a major western city, perpetrated by terrorists from an unidentified international terror organization, who stole nuclear material from a country with poor security on its nuclear stockpile. “It could be the City of London, or Wall Street, Milan or anywhere”, summit leaders were told.

The game challenged the world leaders to take action in the face of a nuclear attack and prevent the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people.

“They had to give an answer on their own, in real time. It was like a test. It put them on the spot. Should they inform the public or keep them in the dark,” the Telegraph quoted a diplomatic source as saying.

“Should they work with other countries or stand alone to try to thwart or minimize the attack? How should they make the cold calculation of how to get a more sustainable human cost in terms of deaths?” the source added.

The leaders entered their answers on a touch-screen tablet against a ticking clock. They later discussed their responses.

US officials stated that they intended to give the leaders a “scare you to death” shock in order drive home the importance of nuclear security.

“Leaders had their doubts about participation on their own without their expert civil servants. It was about discussion and problem solving without leaders relying on written statements to read out. At the end the leaders were more enthusiastic,” the Telegraph quoted a spokesman for the summit as saying.

I don’t know whether to roll on the floor laughing, or bang my head on a wall and cry. I mean, come on! Does anyone take the US seriously anymore? They couldn’t scare a rabbit on nuclear security. They certainly don’t scare our enemies. While Obama is playing games with imaginary dirty bombs and imaginary dead bodies, Russia, China and Iran are wearing their big boy pants and readying the real deal. If we let this go on much longer, death will be very real to Americans. Very.

As if this wasn’t the most ridiculous thing you have ever heard, it gets worse unbelievably. Obama then takes center stage and utters this:

“With respect to Mr. Romney’s assertion that Russia is our number one geopolitical foe, the truth of the matter is that America has a whole lot of challenges,” said the president.

“Russia is a regional power that is threatening some of its immediate neigbors, not out of strength, but out weakness.

“Ukraine has been a country which Russia had enormous influence for decades, since the break-up of the Soviet Union, and we have considerable influence on our neighbors, we generally don’t need to invade them in order to have a strong cooperative relationship with them. The fact that Russia felt compelled to go in militarily and laid bear these violations of internationl law indicates less influence not more.

“So my response then continues to be what I believe today, which is: Russia’s actions are a problem. They don’t pose the number one national security threat to the United States. I continue to be much more concerned when it comes to our security with the prospect of a nuclear weapon going off in Manhattan,” said Obama.

I am absolutely speechless over this idiocy. Obama knows full well that those nukes could very well come from Russia, her proxies or her allies. What’s more, answering in this manner eludes to a known potential threat currently out there. Did someone call for an apocalypse? I never got the memo. If there is a credible threat as Obama is evidently hinting at, shouldn’t the country be on heightened alert? Is this really the time to downsize the military? Questions, questions… but insanity rules the day and here we are.

I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about. Nope. Just another run on the banks in China this morning. Just the very real threat that Russia and China will remove the US as the world’s reserve currency. Just the fact that Poland called up 7,000 reservists for the first time and Russian troops are amassing on Moldova’s border right after their annexation of Crimea in the Ukraine. Just the small issue that letters were sent to Poland, Romania and Hungary offering territory to them in the Ukraine by Russia if they would join the old Soviet gang again. Just the issue that North Korea test-fired two medium-range ballistic missiles on Wednesday. Never mind the Iranian Supreme leader once again denying the Holocaust ever happened and his revving up the Iranian masses with chants of ‘Death to America!’ It’s no biggie that Russia, China and Iran are setting up bases in South and Central America, or that China will have nukes on their submarines this year. Peshaw! Nothing to see here — quick, watch American Idol… emulate morally bankrupt American celebrities… freebies anyone! Who gives a damn if we are broke and defenseless? Just our enemies within and without, that’s all.

As Obama is buying time for Putin and our other enemies, he is busy throwing out the nuclear card and petulantly claiming that Russia is nothing to worry about:

“In China, in Syria, in Egypt, and now in Russia, we’ve seen you make strong statements, issue warnings that have been ignored,” Karl began. “Are you concerned that America’s influence in the world, your influence in the world, is on the decline?”

“In light of recent developments, do you think that Mitt Romney had a point when he said Russia is America’s biggest geopolitical foe?” Karl continued.

“Russia is a regional power that is threatening some of its immediate neighbors, not out of strength but out of weakness,” Obama asserted, as though he was talking about the psychological insecurities that plague the average playground bully.

“The fact that Russia felt compelled to go in militarily and lay bare these violations of international law indicates less influence, not more,” Obama insisted.

Here’s a flash for Obama… nukes don’t come from heaven, they aren’t delivered by Unicorns and Russia is not a ‘regional’ power, you collectivist, weak asshat. If and when the nukes are delivered by a myriad of methods, you can bet that Russia, China or Iran will be behind the ultimate gift of death to us. Obama is not interested in the motivations of Putin, because he has the same motivations and they are evil.

By 1986, Velázquez served as the Director of the Department of Puerto Rican Community Affairs in the United States.

In 2008, Nydia Velazquez served on candidate Obama’s National Latino Advisory Council.

Congresswoman Velazquez is a Ranking Member of the House Small Business Committee. Communist Connections

Ackerman Connection

As campaign manager for Nydia Velazquez in 1992, Karen Ackerman ran a successful campaign against incumbent Steven Solarz for the newly created Congressional seat in the 12th District of New York. Moving to Washington, D.C. after the race, Ackerman served as Chief of Staff for Congresswoman Velazquez until 1996.

Ackerman had once been active with the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) youth wing, the Young Workers Liberation League and in 1970, was a member of the second Venceremos Brigade to Cuba, where she cut sugar cane for Castro.

Praised Puerto Rican Communist

In her speech to the Rainbow Coalition Leadership Summit, February 19, 1993, Nydia Velazquez paid tribute to the late Jesus Colon, a garment worker, CPUSA member and author of: “A Puerto Rican in New York.”

Said Velasquez, “the plight of the America today, particularly the nation’s people of color, reminds me of the stories of Jesus Colon, a writer, who with piercing accuracy, poignantly chronicled the struggles of early Puerto Rican migrants in this country. Sixty years after the experiences of Colon, I would arrive in New York, and like him, would be shocked at the unbearable conditions of the people. I too would be subject to harsh and threatening words, merely for the olive tone of my skin, or the sound of my name. I too would feel the sting of discrimination.”

Article Re-Printed in the People’s World

A speech Velazquez gave to Rev. Jesse Jackson’s communist heavy Rainbow Coalition in February 1993, was re-printed with full credit in the CPUSA’s People’s Weekly World of March 6, 1993.

Asian Americans for Equality

Nydia Velazquez has long-term ties to Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE), a powerful and very wealthy (thanks to U.S. taxpayers) Chinatown, New York based organization, founded by former members of the pro-Communist China and North Korean Communist Workers Party (CWP).

Freddie Mac Funding for AAFE

U.S. Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Rep. Nydia Velazquez joined AAFE, June 2, 2003, to announce Freddie Mac’s $1.5 million grant to the newly created Lower Manhattan Affordable Housing Trust Fund. The fund supports the development and preservation of affordable housing in the Lower Manhattan neighborhoods most affected by the September 11th World Trade Center disaster.

“Rebuilding and revitalizing Lower Manhattan is one of my top priorities,” said Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez. “Increased home ownership has been shown to promote community development through increased neighborhood involvement and investment in local businesses. Freddie Mac’s generous contribution is an important step towards this goal and will help place more local residents on the road to home ownership.”

NeighborWorks America Event

On November 25, 2009, at a press conference in Chinatown, AAFE announced it has become a charter member of NeighborWorks America. A non-profit created by Congress. On hand to celebrate the occasion, were several elected officials including Rep. Nydia Velazquez, AAFE Executive Director Chris Kui and Margaret Chin, District 1’s new city council member, former AAFE President and one time CWP member.

Rep. Velazquez offered her congratulations to AAFE. “By joining forces with NeighborWorks, AAFE will have additional funding and support for their efforts to create equal opportunities for all New Yorkers. I am committed to working with AAFE to address the shortage of affordable housing, increase financial literacy and improve lending practices. With unemployment rising above 10 percent and families struggling to make ends meet, this help is needed in New York City now more than ever.”

Asian Americans for Equality, 38th Anniversary

Dignitaries including U.S. Rep. Nydia Velazquez, New York City; Comptroller John Liu; and City Council member Margaret Chin came to Chinatown, March 2012, to help Asian Americans for Equality celebrate its 38th anniversary. A fundraiser for more than one-thousand supporters was held at the Jing Fong restaurant on Elizabeth Street.

AAFE honored San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee, a former pro-China student radical who was elected November 2011, as that city’s first Asian-American mayor.

Velazquez has been a past recipient of the annual AAFE award, in her own right.

New York DSA Awards Dinner

On June 24, 1993, New York City DSA held its annual Debs-Thomas-Harrington Awards Dinner. Local 1199 President Dennis Rivera and DSA member Deborah Meier of the Central Park East Secondary School received awards. Featured speakers included New York State Comptroller H. Carl McCall, Manhattan Borough President; DSA member Ruth Messinger and DSA Honorary Chair Cornel West. U.S. Rep. Nydia Velazquez, who was unable to attend because of Congressional commitments, sent greetings.

Working Families Party Co-Chair

In 1998, Co-Chairs of the Democratic Socialists of America initiated Working Families Party included DSA member and former New York Mayor David Dinkins and Brooklyn Rep. Nydia Velazquez.

Supported Puerto Rican Rebel Prisoners

In 1999, eleven imprisoned Puerto Rican Marxist independence fighters were released on parole from long prison terms in the U.S.

The clemency offers came after a long campaign that saw 75,000 people sign a petition in Puerto Rico and the U.S. The campaign, led by the Pro-Human Rights Committee of Puerto Rico, involved such activists as Coretta Scott King, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Bishop Desmond Tutu, Rigoberta Menchu and Dr. Aaron Tolen, President of the World Council of Churches.

Political leaders who supported the prisoners included Nydia Velazquez (D-NY) and two DSA members, Ron Dellums (D-CA) and former New York City Mayor David Dinkins.

Foreign Policy/National Security

At the event, peace activists “converge[d] from all around the country in Washington, D.C. to send a strong, clear message to Congress and the Bush Administration: ‘The people of this country want the war and occupation in Iraq to end and we want the troops brought home now!’”

WIDF Affiliated United States “Regional Workshops”

Circa 2007, Nydia Velazquez – “Congressista,” was a member of the United States “Regional Workshop” of the former Soviet front Women’s International Democratic Federation.

Watcher’s Council Nominations – March Madness Edition

The Watcher’s Council

Yes… honest, law abiding leadership… that.

The sort of leadership that would rewrite the Freedom of Information Act secretly without consulting congress. The sort of leadership that would gut an existing law to shield himself and any ‘White House equities’ – which are anything this president says they are – from being lawfully released under the FOIA Act for as long as he chooses to stonewall them. The kind of honest, transparent leadership that would commit an illegal and unconstitutional act three months after he was sworn in and violate his oath of office with impunity.

The fault isn’t in Caesar, but in ourselves in that we choose to be underlings. Yes, the shame is ours, in that we choose to we put up with this without screaming bloody murder and insisting justice be done.

Sheer madness.

Welcome to the Watcher’s Council, a blogging group consisting of some of the most incisive blogs in the ‘sphere and the longest running group of its kind in existence. Every week, the members nominate two posts each, one written by themselves and one written by someone from outside the group for consideration by the whole Council. Then we vote on the best two posts, with the results appearing on Friday morning.

Trevor’s new book, The Enemies Within: Communists, Socialists and Progressives in the U.S. Congress,” has been a blockbuster since its launch in August of 2013. In Trevor’s last interview with Glenn he discussed, Barack Obama and the Enemies Within,” published in 2011. Glenn had made the book part of “The Glenn Beck Book List.” Rightly so. Both books are impeccably-researched and they are unlike any other book about American politics. Trevor said that he tried to keep the second book to 700 pages, “…but the communists just kept coming and coming.”
