The truth about the Bundy’s vs. BLM

I had the privilege and opportunity to learn to make a calf suck a bottle to save her life. It’s going to take a lot to revive the calves that were nearly dead when they were returned to the Bundy Ranch because they had been separated from their mothers during the roundup, and a few most likely won’t make it.

I’m headed back to the Bundy’s today at 1:00pm. I hope you’ll meet me up there. Take I-15 North towards Mesquite, get off at exit 112, and I’ll be on the left-hand side of the road, about 2.5 miles down. Give yourself about an hour and a half for traffic.

This isn’t my normal, nice, politically correct email, so hang on to your seats. I can tell you that after everything I’ve seen, this roundup was not about grazing fees.

First and foremost, like all Nevadans, I love my country and support my government. I proudly support Nevada being home to military installations needed to defend our nation, the federal government test site to develop the equipment necessary for that defense, and any of the other federal lands and facilities needed to conduct the true business of our federal government. That said, I struggle to see the compelling federal issue of where cows eat.

I spent a majority of my time in Bunkerville over the last week with the Bundy family and their supporters. During my time in Bunkerville, I couldn’t help but think about Nevada’s upcoming 150th birthday and that the federal government continues to patronize our state by trying to overstep and police our Nevada citizens. I wonder when the federal government will think Nevada is mature enough to set our own grazing rules or enforce our own laws.

I didn’t meet one Nevadan supporting the BLM or their removal of the cows. If Nevadans don’t care about which land is used for grazing, why should a bureaucrat who works for the federal government get to trump that?

I had the opportunity to meet the American-minded Bundy supporters from all over our country. They were peacefully protesting the BLM’s actions, and I’m excited to report the Bundy family was successful in keeping the peace until the BLM stopped their roundup and returned the Bundy’s cattle.

I’ll also report the actions of some spineless, poor-excuses of BLM staffers. An armed BLM officer picked up Mr. Bundy’s elderly sister from behind, a total sneak attack, and body slammed her to the ground; there is video footage. This woman is the mother of 11 and just survived cancer. Following that brutal incident, another BLM officer ordered his dog to attack Mr. Bundy’s son, Ammon, and as Ammon Bundy was trying to get the dog off his leg, the Nazi-minded bully tazed him twice, once in the neck and the second one right above the heart. As if that wasn’t enough, the brutal BLM thugs beat up Dave Bundy, a pilot out of Las Vegas, detained him, stole his iPad because it contained the brutal footage, confiscated many other items out of his car, transported him to Henderson where he was further detained, then released him in the middle of street. They didn’t stop there. No, they detained two more young guys while they were herding some more cattle in Overton.

These men and woman are Americans attacking Americans. I’m speechless. If you saw the number of police agencies united, I’d hope you’d be curious. We are talking about dozens of our finest SWAT members from Metro, Metro black & white cars, EMT, fire rescue trucks, detention buses (a.k.a. Paddy wagons), over 50 Ranger and BLM vehicles, numerous highway patrol vehicles, and a Black Hawk Helicopter on the Moapa airfield, just to name a few. We watched the Waco Massacre and Ruby Ridge; was the BLM preparing for a “Bunkerville Slaughter”? I believe in my heart because of these last two disasters, Americans from all over our country traveled from afar to stand with the Bundys and let our government know enough is enough. I’m proud to stand with my fellow Americans.

The numbers do not calculate. The federal government had the authority and an open checkbook to spend 10 million dollars or more for a maximum return of $200,000. Here’s how I calculate that number: the BLM might collect maybe 400 heads of cattle, taking into account the number of cattle they would kill while rounding them up. From the round up, the cattle would go to auction. How much do you think you’ll pay for a half-dead, beat up cow? Let’s say they were able to successful auction off 400 cows for $500.00 each (I’m being very very generous). The brainiac head of BLM authorized 10 million dollars or more to maybe recoup $200,000. Really? As a CEO I’d fire that decision-maker immediately. In their minds, maybe it’s worth getting rid of the cows, or just killing them, so the cows won’t destroy equipment for a project they might want to implement.

The BLM tried to paint their actions as enforcing the law; however, there are several other reasons why the BLM chose to pick this fight. It cannot be a coincidence that the place where the Bundy’s have grazed their cattle for hundreds of years would suddenly become an animal refuge for desert tortoises; is it really desert tortoises? If so, why would the BLM be euthanizing them? That’s right, BLM has EUTHANIZED 700-800 desert tortoises. Trust but verify. Click here to read one of many stories about it.

We’re also seeing reports that the BLM land in Gold Butte is very desirable for energy projects, which may have prompted this sudden strong-arm tactic. Don’t trust me, verify it. Click here to read the BLM’s own report on the project.

A major concern in all of this was how the BLM treated the cattle. It is completely irresponsible that after years of conversations, the Feds would begin their roundup during the season when calves are being born. In this mess, newborn calves were separated from their mothers; some were trampled in their holding pens and left for dead. A helicopter acted as a cowboy to herd the cows, causing a few to have heart attacks and die. The conditions of the holding pens where they kept the cows for days were heartless and cruel. Where was PETA?

I do want to comment about the upstanding citizens who came to show their support, including the Oath Keepers, a non-partisan association of current and formerly serving military, police, and first responders who are committed to defending the Constitution. They are honorable men and women who acted professionally and respectfully. There were many groups of freedom fighters who traveled from all over our country to stand together. I have a very serious request to all agency officers and that request is, “not to obey your superiors when given a direct order to attack your fellow Americans fighting for the freedoms granted to us by our Constitution”. Take a sick day or a vacation.

I didn’t become an elected official to join an elite club; I ran for office to protect the people and be a true voice for the people. I take my oath seriously. It’s time for Nevada to stand up to the federal government and demand the return of the BLM lands to the people of Nevada. BLM has shown their true colors and agenda. As elected officials in Nevada, it is our responsibility to be leaders on this issue and work together, Republicans and Democrats, to make sure this doesn’t happen ever again. Together we need to write legislation to protect our state’s rights from the Feds.

Never forget, “This land is your land, this land is my land”…

Yours truly,

Michele Fiore

  1. This was my first thought-how can so many fellow Americans be so evil? What if the roles were reversed? Who are these henchmen? So disgusted with the whole thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. As usual just follow the money. Harry Reid’s son needs the land for a Chinese solar energy project, A shyster lawyer trying to make a bundle out of public lands. Hey, dad can you help throw a few people out for me? “Sure son, I just make a few calls and sic the dogs on them.”
It is high time we let the states manage public lands within their borders, and defund these federal institutions, they are no longer needed and cannot be afforded. Where are our elected officials? Oh the Reids and their ilk are lining their pockets.

Keep up the good work, and let’s put a stop to the jack booted thugs in Washington.

  4. It is about time a politician stood up for what is right. It makes me want to move to Nevada just to be around people like Michele.

  5. As a former U.S. Marine who took that same oath to “Protect angainst enemies both foriegn and DOMESTIC…”and now a DE Sworn Law Enforcement Officer, who to an oath to protect the citizens of this state and obey the Constitution of this state, I was just about ready to pack up the pick up truck with supplies and stand in the line against the Federal bullies. History repeats itself time and time again. So it’s the Bundy’s this time, when will it be your turn because some politician wants your property or livestock to say “feed the poor” and redistribute your wealth. The American revolution began becuase of an oppressive government and I say its time to stand up and be heard as a group of American citizens. What happened at Concord and Lexington can most certanly happen in Texas. Remember the Alamo, The Nazi’s, The Gestapo, Rhawanda, Mogadishu and the generations of war weary vets returning home to no jobs, pay cuts, loss of resources and benefits. Once a Marine Always a Marine. Our mission was to protect those who could not protect themselves and I most certainly would defend the Bundy’s. The check I wrote for my life is still uncashed, but I wouldn’t have written it had I not meant to live by it. SEMPER FI!

  6. Throughout this mindless show of unconstitutional force, the BLM will now be remembered for their aggressive and unnecessary tactics. We are enthused however to see a representative like Michele Fiore stand up, and speak out against tyranny. Thank You to all of the Patriot Supporters and Oath Keepers who stood strong!, who traveled far!, and who made a difference! We at ASW Honor YOU!.

I pray the Bundy’s sue those responsible for this savage senseless attack on the Bundy’s including any Politicians directly or indirectly responsible for the invasion!

  9. I think its about time that anyone that has a BLM and/or USFS alotment stop paying the fees until the federal government stops using this money wastefully. These fees are to pay for wages and range improvements not for a BLM police force to bully Americans. The BLM and USFS do not own these lands we the people of these here United States of America do. The feds need to be stopped before real bloodshed happens. There were over 600,000 casualties in our last civil war. How many will the next one have? I think its fair to say it will be in the millions. Do we really want this???

  10. So where was our Governor, our state Attorney General, our elected officials who should have been on top of this?

They were either too cowardly, too lazy or to in debt to Hairy Reid to get involved.

The Reno Gazette Journal and the Las Vegas Sun should be all over this story, especially Reid’s part in it.

Where was Heller? Probably taking Harry Reid to lunch so they could extend some more benefits to the mooch class.

I think Ms Fiore could replace the Governor or the Senator and do a lot better job.

Proud to be an Oath Keeper.

  11. Thank you Michele! I am so very happy to hear a politician, and a true patriot, stand up and speak about our ever-intrusive, and oppressive US Government. I am thrilled to know that there are people like you as serving to represent the citizens. I am not from Nevada, but if I was, you would have my vote based upon your principles. In fact I would volunteer to work on your campaign! Thank you again!

  12. Good to actually see an elected officer stand with the folks that put that representative into office.

Just a “head-up”. The part of the report/statement “…for the freedoms granted to us by our Constitution”.” The Constitution does not “grant” We the People anything. The Constitution is used to instruct our representatives as to secure these unalienable rights, period (see DOI). The Constitution lists the “LIMITED” authorities for very specific purposes that the General Government has been allocated authority by “We the People” and no others.

Thanks for standing with the “People” for with out the Creator and us there is literally nothing.

  13. I read the response from the former MARINE. As a former member of SEAL TEAM 1 AND DEVGRU (TEAM 6} I echo his thoughts. I took an oath to defend this country from enemies foreign and domestic. At the agiticse of 71 I still adere to that oath, with my last breath. Reid needs to get out of politics and he and his family investegated. It should come as no suprise that so many people from over the country showed up to support this family. We here in NEVADA are tired of these low lifes in politics and certain government agencies pushing us around. I will not give up my rights to speak out, protect my land and family, and the rights of others. Thank you Assemblywoman FIORE.

  16. This action by our goverment is discusting, and what’s even more discusting is Harry Reid! If Harry had a real job like ranching he could not servive lifting more that a pen or a phone for more than an hour. The same goes his peckerwood son. Furthermore, the White House should be utilizing these armed goverment employees on the borders and they should point their M16s at the drug cartel and runners, maybe body-slam a few.
    Hats off to Assemblywoman FIORE!!
    Respectfully, U S Army M P / Fort Hood TX. 1969-1970

  17. It is time to identify all agents of blm etc that participated in the raid depose all and try them for their crimes.

The public needs to know their names and who they actually work for.

Public servants do not need to be armed to be of service to us, they only need to be armed if they intend on doing things people do not like. If they have a problem in the field they need to do what we do call 911.

The sheriff needs to be recalled or thrown out for not doing his duty.

It is time to shake the tree folks and see what bad apples fall out.

It needs to be done now without hesitation and not drawn out in courts and hearings for years.

  18. In no way am I offering excuses for (individual acts of indiscreet) violence By BLM (or others), but I am very curious to know why it is that the public never hears ‘the name’ of individuals involved in making ‘the decision’. It’s always blamed on ‘this agency’ or ‘that dept’. Our gov’s ability to ride roughshod over the public is because of anonymity. We can thank mainstream media for protecting those individuals from taking responsibility for their actions. Oh, I guess that’s not a PC attitude. Imagine, if we were all required to be personally responsible. Other than just a few overzealous (there’s always a few), I don’t have a problem with officers doing their job: isn’t that the responsible thing to do for your employer, even if you don’t agree (or understand). Point is, let’s get the name(s) of the person(s) that made the decisions. ie: Holder / Pelosi / Reid, etc. WHO MADE THE CALL?

  19. Great synopsis! I wrote a letter to Governor Sandoval expressing the same sentiments. BTW, did someone put a gag in his mouth. His blurb about the 1st Amendment was spot on ,but I don’t think he went far enough. Let’s get the Feds the hell out of Nevada! And Harry Reid….he’s up to his eyeballs in this!

  20. I am a 70 year old retired Marine Viet Nam vet. I too took the oath to defend the Constitution (NOT that Incompetent moron illegally occupying our White house) against all enemies, foreign and domestic. These liberal Democrats have pushed the people to the brink of another revolution. If they want a fight – I predict they are going to get one.

There are over 600,000 hunters in Wisconsin alone. Add to that the number of hunters in the other 49 states (another 56 states if you are our Muslim King).. Add to that the number of veterans across this great country that have guns but do not hunt; and we have the largest army in the world. How about it Obumble – is this what you fear and why you gave yourself to call martial law with the stroke of your Communist pen ? I fought for my country in Viet Nam and will gladly do so again against these idiots that are running and ruining our country. Remember all that is going on and all of the Obama scandals (especially Benghazi) when you vote this November and again 2016. Semper Fi and God Bless America. “I do not give a damn where Obama was born; the problem is where he is living now”.

  21. There are many people in Washington that need to be rounded up like the cattle and tried for their crimes against the United States of America. We have a bunch of crooks running this country and getting filthy rich while doing so. The hard working American is paying the bills for the all the people on the FREE BEE programs and still getting taxed even more for everything else too. These rich politicians do not care about the people they are suppose to represent anymore, it is all about themselves . We need to take out the trash in the coming election and get our country back.
Just how much more bull*hit are the people going to take from these commie son of a b*tches……….?

  22. Can you read maps? I was wondering because if you look at the map in the PDF you linked to about the solar energy project it shows the project isn’t close to where Bundy’s property is, or even close to where he’s been trespassing. But hey, don’t let facts get in the way of your argument. Teabaggers will never check it out anyways, so carry on. ‘Murica!
