Democratic Congressman Tim Bishop representing CD-1 on Long Island told a concerned audience at a LIMBA meeting Friday of last week that of the approximately 100 Americans who went to fight with ISIS, 40 have returned.

DHS, the State Department, Jeh Johnson, John Kerry and other key government officials are completely unaware that these terrorists have returned if one can judge by their comments made before Congress on Thursday.

Mr. Bishop is currently being accused of exaggerating the number or exposing secrets. He would not “come to the phone and explain where he got it” when a Newsday reporter called him.

When Rep. Peter King was asked about it, he said he couldn’t discuss it.

When he made the comments, Mr. Bishop reassured the LIMBA audience by saying that the FBI is tracking them. However, unless the FBI has 40 agents assigned to them 24/7, it’s hard to feel reassured.

Apparently DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson and Secretary of State John Kerry have no idea the 40 are back.

In testimony Thursday before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Secretary of State John Kerry argued that the U.S. must stop foreign fighters with U.S. passports from returning to the homeland.

Kerry said the following according to the Daily Mail:

What I want to make certain, Kerry told the congressional panel, ‘is that anybody who has a passport [and joins with ISIS] ‘who returns, returns in handcuffs – not through customs with their passport.’

‘I don’t think these guys are ten feet tall,’ he said later.

Committee chairman Rep. Ed Royce, a California Republican, agreed.

‘I think we need a way to approach this to make certain that their ability to come into the United States is made a hell of a lot more difficult than it is right now,’ Royce told the secretary.

But Kerry warned about the possibility of interfering with law enforcement, saying that canceling a passport could give suspected terrorists a heads-up that they’ve been identified in Washington.

‘We … need to do that with sensitivity to certain investigations that may be going on,’ said Kerry, ‘because you don’t want to flag something.’

In the same hearing, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said that ‘the suspension of passports should be considered on a case-by-case basis,’ not with a law that drives every circumstance toward a single outcome.

‘Suspension and revocation of passports can be done on an expedited basis when the situation warrants, in a matter of hours or days,’ he said.

How is it that Jeh Johnson, John Kerry, Ted Cruz, DHS, the FBI, the State Department don’t know but Tim Bishop does?

John Kerry did also say that it is sometimes useful to let these people back in the country and track them. Hopefully, that’s not a program similar to Fast & Furious.

Our country is being run by the gang that couldn’t shoot straight and people are going to get killed.

Bishop was somewhat cavalier during his speech because immediately after he warned the audience, he said, “…but at the present time, the intelligence is that ISIS does not present a threat to the homeland.”

Both Rep. Michelle Bachmann and Sen. Ted Cruz have sponsored bills to strip U.S. citizenship of ISIS fighters who have returned to the U.S. but they have been rejected by Democrats who want to protect the constitutional rights of the traitors.

These are people who betrayed their country and fought with the most evil force on earth. Did they behead people, rape women and children, what did they do over there?

Does anyone really believe they are all going to be model citizens?

Anyone who leaves to join an enemy army can have their passport revoked but people are playing with semantics and claiming that they can’t because ISIS isn’t a foreign state. Of course they think they are a state. They call themselves a state.

Townhall posted this on September 11th:

For months intelligence agencies, lawmakers and everyday citizens have been sounding the alarm and voicing concerns about hundreds of Americans fighting for ISIS who still hold valid U.S. or western passports. At this point, the State Department still has not confirmed that passports belong to Americans knowingly fighting for ISIS have been revoked, boosting concerns ISIS fighters will use them to regain entrance into the United States. Now, officials inside the Department of Homeland Security are finally admitting that Americans fighting with ISIS and in possession of U.S. passports do in fact pose a threat.

The admission to the threat came yesterday during a hearing held by the House Homeland Security Committee. Chairman Michael McCaul expressed concerns about Americans fighting for ISIS returning to the United States undetected.

They pose a threat!!!

It is unknown how Rep. Bishop got this information. He is not on any intelligence committees. Was this top secret information? Were the terrorists being investigated for leads?

The Daily Beast’s Greg Sargent said perhaps a dozen are already in the US.

Hello, no one’s listening – Tim Bishop says there are 40.

Meanwhile the government is acting as if no one has returned.

Watch:

How can Rep. Bishop say 40 terrorists have returned and there is not yet a threat to the homeland, all in the same sentence?

The politicians are not putting our best interests first. Everything they do is political. They are putting us in danger for ideology’s sake, not because they give a hoot about the Constitution. They believe the Constitution is a “living” document that can be manipulated according to how they “feel”.

This is pure politics and we are unsafe.

The video has been copied and reposted to youtube. The story flashed by on the Ticker this evening on the O’Reilly Show.

Newsday also reported it, stating that “a U.S. official familiar with the estimates told Newsday that the figure of 40 was ‘wildly inaccurate,’ indicating it was much lower but refusing to be specific.”

When Newsday attempted to contact Mr. Bishop, he would not come to the phone. Specifically, the reporter said, “he won’t come to the phone to explain where he got it.”

People care but the politicians are not serious about this threat.
