N. Korea Months Away from Ability to Strike U.S. with Nukes

Japan is taking defensive measures:

The Yomiuri Shimbun The government is considering equipping planned ground-based Aegis Ashore systems with the capacity to intercept cruise missiles, in addition to the ability to defend against ballistic missiles.

With Chinese bombers making repeated flights in areas around Japan, the government believes it should also prepare for attacks by cruise missiles, multiple government sources said.

The government intends to introduce two Aegis Ashore systems in Japan by around fiscal 2023 as part of the effort to boost the nation’s missile defenses.

These would be equipped with SM-3 Block IIA missiles, a new interceptor being jointly developed by Japan and the United States with the capacity to intercept ballistic missiles at altitudes exceeding 1,000 kilometers.

The government is also considering equipping the systems with SM-6 anti-air missiles, which are multifunction interceptors that also can take down cruise missiles.

United Nations (AP) — North Korea’s deputy U.N. ambassador said Tuesday the country plans to launch many more satellites and accused the United States of trying to block its efforts to help peacefully develop outer space.

Kim In Ryong told a U.N. General Assembly committee meeting on “International Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space” that the country’s five-year plan for 2016-2020 includes development of “practical satellites that can contribute to the economic development and improvement of the people’s living.”

As a party to several space treaties, North Korea’s space development activities are “all ground on legal basis in all aspects,” Kim said.

But he said the United States is “going frantic to illegalize our development of outer space,” claiming the effort violates U.N. sanctions.

“The U.S. is the country that launched the largest number of satellites and yet it claims that our launch of satellites is a threat to international peace and security,” Kim said. “This is a preposterous allegation and extreme double standards.”

The United Nations, the U.S. and other countries view the North’s space launch development project as a cover for tests of missile technology, as ballistic missiles and rockets in satellite launches share similar bodies, engines and other technology. North Korea is also openly working on developing nuclear-armed missiles capable of striking the U.S. mainland.

US: North Korea Months Away From Being Able to Hit US with Nuclear Missile

North Korea is likely just months away from being capable of striking the United States with a nuclear missile, according to two top U.S. officials.

CIA Director Mike Pompeo told a forum in Washington on Thursday he is “deeply worried” about the advancing threat from North Korea and the possibility it could spark a nuclear arms race across East Asia.

“We ought to behave as if we are on the cusp of them achieving that objective,” Pompeo said when asked about Pyongyang’s pursuit of missile technology that could launch a warhead to targets in the U.S.

“They are so far along in that it’s now a matter of thinking about how do you stop the final step?” he added.

McMaster: We’re running out of time

U.S. National Security Adviser, Gen. H.R. McMaster said later on Thursday that Washington was racing to resolve the situation, short of using military force.

“We’re not out of time but we’re running out of time,” McMaster said, speaking at the same event. “Accept and deter is unacceptable.”

The comments by Pompeo and McMaster come as tensions between the U.S. and North Korea have been steadily rising following Pyongyang’s latest nuclear test last month, it’s sixth overall, and repeated tests of what intelligence officials have assessed to be both intermediate and long range ballistic missiles.

But despite warning that North Korea is just months away from being able to target the U.S., the CIA’s Pompeo cautioned there are still questions about just how “robust” the North Korea nuclear threat has become, and whether Pyongyang will be able to deliver multiple nuclear warheads to nuclear targets.

“There’s always a risk. Intelligence is imperfect,” Pompeo said, adding there is evidence Pyongyang may be getting help from Iran, citing “deep conventional weapons ties as between the two countries.”

He also warned that each North Korean test makes an arms race ever more likely.

“You watch as North Korea grows ever closer to having its capability perfected, you can imagine others in the region also thinking that they well may need that capability,” he said.

Putin suggests force won’t work against North Korea

On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned against the use of force to eliminate the North Korean nuclear threat, suggesting it would not work.

“Talks about a preventative, disarming strike — and we hear both hints and open threats — this is very dangerous,” Putin said during a speaking engagement in Sochi.

“Who knows what and where is hidden in North Korea? And whether all of it can be destroyed with one strike, I doubt it,” he said. “I’m almost sure it is impossible.”

North Korean officials have also repeatedly warned the U.S. against any provocations.

Pyongyang’s deputy envoy to the United Nations, Kim In Ryong, warned Monday that war could break out at any moment.

Other North Korean officials have accused the U.S. of making preparations for war, citing the presence of the USS Ronald Reagan, a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, conducting exercises to the east of the Korean Peninsula.

Russia Takes Over Kurds’ Oil Pipeline, Hillary?

By: Denise Simon | Founders Code

LONDON/MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russia’s biggest oil company, Rosneft (ROSN.MM), has agreed to take control of Iraqi Kurdistan’s main oil pipeline, boosting its investment in the autonomous region to $3.5 billion despite Baghdad’s military action sparked by a Kurdish vote for independence.

The move appears to be part of a strategy by President Vladimir Putin to boost Moscow’s Middle Eastern political and economic influence, which was weakened by the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Rosneft said it would own 60 percent of the pipeline, with current operator KAR Group retaining 40 percent. Sources familiar with the deal said Rosneft’s investment in the project was expected to total about $1.8 billion.

That comes on top of $1.2 billion that the Russian firm, which has struggled to raise Western loans due to U.S. sanctions, lent Kurdistan earlier this year to help fill holes in its budget. Rosneft also agreed to invest another $400 million in five exploration blocks. More here.

You remember Rosneft right? That Russian oil conglomerate that donated big dollars to the Clinton Foundation during the Uranium One deal and even the NYT’s reported it.

(Reuters) – A senior Iranian military commander repeatedly warned Kurdish leaders in northern Iraq to withdraw from the oil city of Kirkuk or face an onslaught by Iraqi forces and allied Iranian-backed fighters, Kurdish officials briefed on the meetings said.

Major-General Qassem Soleimani, commander of foreign operations for Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards, traveled to Iraq’s Kurdistan region to meet Kurdish leaders at least three times this month before the Baghdad government’s lightning campaign to recapture territory across the north.

The presence of Soleimani on the frontlines highlights Tehran’s heavy sway over policy in Iraq, and comes as Shi’ite Iran seeks to win a proxy war in the Middle East with its regional rival and U.S. ally, Sunni Saudi Arabia.

Soleimani met leaders from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), one of the two main Kurdish political parties in northern Iraq, in the city of Sulaimania the day before Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi ordered his forces to advance on Kirkuk, according to a PUK lawmaker briefed on the meeting.

His message was clear: withdraw or risk losing Tehran as a strategic ally.

“Abadi has all the regional powers and the West behind him and nothing will stop him from forcing you to return back to the mountains if he decides so,” the lawmaker quoted Soleimani as telling the PUK leadership.

The Iranian general evoked late Iraqi president Saddam Hussein’s massive attack on a Kurdish rebellion in 1991, when almost the entire Kurdish population fled northern Iraq to the mountains, the PUK lawmaker said.

“Soleimani’s visit … was to give a last-minute chance for the decision-makers not to commit a fatal mistake,” said the lawmaker, who like others interviewed in this story declined to be identified because of the sensitivity of the issue.

Commanders of the Iraqi Kurdish forces, known as the Peshmerga, have accused Iran of orchestrating the Shi’ite-led Iraqi central government’s push into areas under their control, a charge senior Iranian officials have denied.

But Iran has made no secret of its presence in Iraq.

“Tehran’s military help is not a secret anymore. You can find General Soleimani’s pictures in Iraq everywhere,” said an official close to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

“Now, beside political issues, Kirkuk’s oil is a very key element for Iran, which is an OPEC member. Control of those oil fields by Iran’s enemies would be disastrous for us. Why should we let them enter the oil market?.”

Kirkuk fell to Iraqi government forces on Monday. Their offensive followed a referendum last month in which the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region voted to secede from Iraq against Baghdad’s wishes.

Kurds have sought an independent state for almost a century, after colonial powers divided up the Middle East after the fall of the Ottoman Empire and left Kurdish-populated territory split between Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria.

But Iraq’s two main Kurdish parties have been at odds over both the referendum and the approach to the crisis in Kirkuk, which the Kurds consider to be the heart of their homeland.

The PUK, a close ally of Iran, accused its rival, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), of putting the Kurds at risk of military intervention and isolation by pushing hard for the vote, which won wide approval for independence.

Soleimani has been allied to the PUK for years, but the referendum has drawn him even closer to Kurdish politics and expanded Iran’s reach in Iraq beyond the Baghdad government.

The Iranian general is no stranger to conflicts in Iraq, which fought an eight-year war with Iran in the 1980s. He has often been seen in footage from the frontlines, and Iran has long helped Baghdad to carry out its military strategy through paramilitary Shi’ite militias which it funds and arms.

Before the referendum, Soleimani suggested to Kurdish leaders that holding a vote on secession — which Iran feared would encourage its own Kurdish population to agitate for greater autonomy — would be risky.

“The Iranians were very clear. They have been very clear that there will be conflict, that these territories will be lost,” said one prominent Iraqi Kurdish politician who met Soleimani ahead of the Sept. 25 referendum.

On Oct. 6, barely a week after the vote, Soleimani attended the funeral of PUK leader Jalal Talabani. Again, he wanted to make sure even his closest Kurdish allies understood the dangers of not withdrawing from Kirkuk, officials said.

A senior Iranian diplomat in Iraq and an official in Iran close to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s office said Soleimani met with Kurdish leaders after Talibani’s funeral and urged them to withdraw from Kirkuk and in exchange Tehran would protect their interests.

Soleimani met with one of Talabani’s sons, Bafel, a few days after his father was buried, one of the PUK officials said.

“Soleimani said Abadi should be taken very seriously. You should understand this,” the official said.

An Iranian source in Iraq said Soleimani was in Kirkuk two nights before the Iraqi government offensive for “a couple of hours to give military guidance.” Iraqi intelligence sources said Tehran sent a clear signal to the PUK.

“We understand from our sources on the ground that neighboring Iran played a decisive role in making the PUK chose the right course with Baghdad,” one Iraqi intelligence official told Reuters.

Tensions over the referendum and Kirkuk have deepened divisions between the two main political parties in northern Iraq. The KDP accused the PUK of betraying the Kurdish cause by capitulating to Iran and striking a deal to withdraw.

“The Talabani clan were behind the offensive on Kirkuk. They asked Qassem (Soleimani) for help and his troops were there on the ground,” said a source close to Massoud Barzani, president of the Kurdistan Regional Government and head of the KDP.

“It is becoming clear that Iran is directing the operations to destroy the KDP.”

The PUK strongly denies this. Talabani’s son Bafel accused the KDP of missing a zero-hour chance to avoid losing Kirkuk by failing to reach a deal over a military base which Iraqi government forces had demanded to take back.

“Unfortunately we reacted too slowly. And we find ourselves where we are today,” Bafel told Reuters.

Two other Kurdish political sources gave a similar account.

Iran and Soleimani offered early assistance to northern Iraq’s Kurds in the fight against Islamic State, a rallying point for the Kurdish community. But after the devastating loss of Kirkuk, Iraqi Kurds have been left disillusioned.

“They (both PUK and KDP leaders) just make decisions on their own and play with people’s lives. In the end, we pay the price,” said pensioner Abdullah Ahmed in Sulaimania.  “This is a disaster for everyone. Everyone was united against Daesh (Islamic State). Now they are back just looking out for themselves.”

Living in Trump Country USA

By: Lloyd Marcus

For those of you who haven’t heard, Mary and I moved from Florida to a tiny town in West Virginia to be closer to our parents. We are experiencing wonderful culture shock. I am not a fan of the winding mountain roads. Supermarket and hardware stores are over 20 miles away. And yet, we unexpectedly love our new heavenly haven of Americana.

I am one of around 20 blacks in the population of 500. Everyone from the town hall to the bank, post office and country store knew we were the Marcuses who “bought the white house”.

Virginia brought us homemade bread. Ron brought us corn from his garden which he promised to be the sweetest we have ever eaten. Ron was correct. Old men Charlie and George stopped by to welcome us. Peggy knocked on our front door bearing a gift of a homemade apple pie.

Mary purchased 3 huge real tomatoes for $2 from a road side vendor’s garden. The old man told Mary she could take as many tomatoes as she wanted. From another small vendor, we purchased locally raised grass fed ground beef. The sales lady said it will taste 10 times better than supermarket’s.

Handyman Randy is a hunter. Randy said he’ll keep us stocked with venison. I thought Randy would be impressed that a member of my family hunts with a bow and arrow. Randy explained that he prefers using a gun because if the hunter’s arrow does not hit the perfect spot, the animal will suffer. Wait a minute, Leftists tell us that hunters are coldblooded SOBs who don’t care about animals. Randy obviously cares. While installing our ceiling fan, Randy said he needed to get more “wor”. Mary eventually realized he was saying “wire”.

The post office and public library closes for lunch. I stopped in the town hall to purchase a permit for the fence I planned to have installed. The clerk looking a bit puzzled said, “We’re pretty laid back here. You don’t need a permit.” The police department consists of two patrol cars. The school’s marching band of about 15 students marches past our house practicing. They sound good.

On Sundays from our front porch, we sometimes hear the choir of one of the five churches in town. The Potomac River is in walking distance from our house, past the guy’s place with the horses.

I haven’t gone fishing yet, but a kid schooled me on the best fishing spots.

Driving around town, we shamefully laughed seeing a lawn sign that read, “Trump that B****!” Yes, this is definitely Trump country.

Mary and I attended a fundraiser at the fire hall for a needy family. The elderly husband has terminal cancer and wants to make sure his wife has a new roof on their home. The fire hall was pretty full.

Contrast my daily heartland experience with the putrid smelling Leftist hate dominating the airways and national political arena. Leftists bombard us daily with vitriolic poisonous lies for the sole purpose of removing Trump from office. It is truly amazing watching Leftists behave as if their entire existence is to create hatred for Trump.

Leftists’ relentless 24/7 efforts to brand Trump a racist wears me out. How on earth can Trump stand it? The answer is millions of Americans are praying for him. Despite Leftists’ best efforts, Trump is still popular and winning; dismantling Obamacare http://bit.ly/2yzAuZe and more.

Trump is using legal executive orders to undo Obama’s illegal executive actions. Trump is simply defending the law and our Constitution. http://washex.am/2yShw3l This has further enraged Leftists, making them even more committed to politically ripping Trump’s head off.

Leftists’ evil is glaring when placed side by side with the decent everyday Americans in my new hometown.

Mary and I are experiencing wonderful culture shock; friendly people who appear to love God, family and country. Trump country!

Freedom’s Safest Place | The Ultimate Insult

Dana Loesch

We are witnesses to the most ruthless attack on a president and the people who voted for him, and the free system that allowed it to happen, in American history. From the highest levels of government, to their media, universities and billionaires, their hateful defiance of his legitimacy is an insult to each of us.

But the ultimate insult is that they think we’re so stupid that we’ll let them get away with it. These saboteurs, slashing away with their leaks and sneers, their phony accusations and gagging sanctimony, drive their daggers through the heart of our future, poisoning our belief that honest custody of our institutions will ever again be possible.

So they can then build their utopia from the ashes of what they burned down. No, their fate will be failure and they will perish in the political flames of their own fires.

We are the National Rifle Association of America. And we are Freedom’s Safest Place.

The Wall Of Worry Is Rising

By: Kent Engelke | Capitol Securities

The “Wall of Worry” is rising. Goldman warns there is an 88% chance of a bear market in the intermediate future. Morgan Stanley stated today is an appropriate time to short the market. Vanguard and Fidelity have both issued bearish pronouncements. These are just the bearish comments of the last three days. The warnings issued the last 9 months are bordering on infinity.

The reasons are well known. Valuations. Lack of breadth. Historic change in monetary policy. Geopolitics. Socio-economic issues, etc.

The difference between today’s Wall of Worry and past “Walls” is that in era’s past equities were plunging.

Perhaps the only definitive comment to make is that if equities enter into a bear market as the largest firms are repetitively suggesting, this will be the most forecasted bear market in history.

Speaking of bear markets, the oil narrative is still extremely negative. Crude prices however are rising as inventories are declining at a pace greater than expected. The geopolitical risks are gargantuan, risks in years past that would create an incredibly bullish narrative.

Conversely to rising crude, oil equities are still languishing, internalizing this never ending bearish narrative, a narrative which in my view that is devoid from reality. It has been suggested oil stocks are priced for $35 oil not $52.

I am certain one can write a SAT question surrounding the negative equity narrative… rising equity prices and a negative crude narrative, but rising crude prices and languishing oil equity prices. But I do poorly on standardized tests.

In my view, the market that is entirely devoid from reality is the Treasury market. The FOMC is projecting an additional 100 basis points of tightening in the next 12-13 months boosting the overnight rate to around 2.25% or to the yield on today’s 10-year Treasury.

If the 14-year average of a 180 basis points spread between the overnight rate and the 10-year Treasury is maintained, the 10-year would rise to a 4.0% yield. If this relationship was to be maintained, the 10-year would decline in price by over 28% in the proceeding year according to Bloomberg.

Wow! All must remember the Committee missed its “central tendency” (which is different than a projection) from 2010-2015 when a comparable increase was suggested. Because of history, I think there is total complacency in the Treasury market.

Perhaps the only definitive statement to make is tomorrow will be interesting where fortunes can potentially be made and lost.

Last night the foreign markets were up. London was up 0.28%, Paris was up 0.23% and Frankfurt was up 0.29%. China was up 0.80%, Japan was up 0.04% and Hang Sang was up 1.17%.

The Dow should open nominally higher on tax cut optimism. The 10-year is off 11/32 to yield 2.36%.

Subpoena Tim Geithner About the Uranium One Deal for Starters

By: Denise Simon | Founders Code

Ever wonder where any Hillary emails are with regard to this case both as Secretary of State or through the Clinton Foundation? Perhaps Huma knows all…did Obama’s OFA take any kickbacks? What else is out there that the Obama administration hid from congress and oversight? Anyway read on for context and the people line-up.

Related reading: Judiciary Committee calls on former FBI informant to testify about Uranium One

Under the Treasury Department is also the responsibility of sanctions and where waivers to those sanctions occur.

Composition of CFIUS in 2010 the Chairperson was Tim Geithner.

The Secretary of the Treasury is the Chairperson of CFIUS, and notices to CFIUS are received, processed, and coordinated at the staff level by the Staff Chairperson of CFIUS, who is the Director of the Office of Investment Security in the Department of the Treasury.

The members of CFIUS include the heads of the following departments and offices:

  1. Department of the Treasury (chair)
  2. Department of Justice
  3. Department of Homeland Security
  4. Department of Commerce
  5. Department of Defense
  6. Department of State
  7. Department of Energy
  8. Office of the U.S. Trade Representative
  9. Office of Science & Technology Policy

The following offices also observe and, as appropriate, participate in CFIUS’s activities:

  1. Office of Management & Budget
  2. Council of Economic Advisors
  3. National Security Council
  4. National Economic Council
  5. Homeland Security Council

The Director of National Intelligence and the Secretary of Labor are non-voting, ex-officio members of CFIUS with roles as defined by statute and regulation.

Of note for the Uranium One transaction to happen, unless there was a waiver:

What steps can be taken with respect to information required by § 800.402 to further facilitate CFIUS review?

Suggestions include:

  1. Section 800.402(j)(1) requires submission of organizational charts showing control and ownership of the foreign person that is a party to the transaction.  CFIUS’s review would be aided if the parties provide such charts for the U.S. business and if the charts for the U.S. business and the foreign person diagram the ownership chains for the acquirer and target before and after the transaction being notified to CFIUS.  These should be as extensive and detailed as possible.
  2. Sections 800.402(c)(1)(iii) and (v) require submission of information related to the foreign person and its parents.  CFIUS’s review would be aided if the notice identifies whether the actual party in interest is the party to the transaction or one of the parents of the party to the transaction.  CFIUS does not consider special purpose vehicles, wholly-owned subsidiaries established for the sole purpose of the transaction, or other shell companies to be the actual parties in interest in a transaction.
  3. Sections 800.402(c)(3)(iii) and (iv) require information regarding certain United States Government contracts.  Parties are advised to update and verify United States Government contact information for such contracts. Private sector entities not party to the notice are not acceptable points-of-contact for contracts in question.
  4. Filers should ensure that all files in the electronic version of a notice are less than five megabytes (5MB) in size.

What steps, though not required for a notice to be determined complete, may facilitate CFIUS review?

  1. CFIUS agencies have found it very helpful in the past for filing companies to provide the following additional information, even if the activity is not the primary focus of their commercial operations.  CFIUS often requests this information after a voluntary notice has been accepted if it was not included in the initial filing.
    1. Cyber systems, products, services:  Identify whether the U.S. business being acquired develops or provides cyber systems, products, or services, including:
      • Business systems used to manage or support common business processes and operations (for example, enterprise resource planning, e-commerce, email, and database systems); control systems used to monitor, assess, and control sensitive processes and physical functions (for example, supervisory control, data acquisition, process and distributed control systems); safety, security, support, and other specialty systems (for example, fire, intrusion detection, access control, people mover, and heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems); or
      • (ii) Telecommunications and/or Internet or similar systems, products or services.
    2. Natural resources:  Identify whether the U.S. business being acquired processes natural resources and material or produces and transports energy, and the amount processed, produced, or transported annually.
  2. Discussion in the notice of the business rationale for the transaction may be useful.
  3. The regulations require parties to provide information regarding any other applicable national security-related regulatory authorities, such as the ITAR, EAR, and NISPOM.  Some of the regulatory review processes under these authorities may have longer deadlines than the CFIUS process, and parties to transactions affected by these other reviews may wish to start or complete these processes prior to submitting a voluntary notice to CFIUS under section 721.

The FBI has a network of informants domestically and it did the job it is tasked to do, that is until the Holder Justice Department ensured it could no longer do the job with regard to the Uranium One Case.

Before the Obama administration approved a controversial deal in 2010 giving Moscow control of a large swath of American uranium, the FBI had gathered substantial evidence that Russian nuclear industry officials were engaged in bribery, kickbacks, extortion and money laundering designed to grow Vladimir Putin’s atomic energy business inside the United States, according to government documents and interviews.

Federal agents used a confidential U.S. witness working inside the Russian nuclear industry to gather extensive financial records, make secret recordings and intercept emails as early as 2009 that showed Moscow had compromised an American uranium trucking firm with bribes and kickbacks in violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, FBI and court documents show.

They also obtained an eyewitness account — backed by documents — indicating Russian nuclear officials had routed millions of dollars to the U.S. designed to benefit former President Bill Clinton’s charitable foundation during the time Secretary of State Hillary Clinton served on a government body that provided a favorable decision to Moscow, sources told The Hill.

The racketeering scheme was conducted “with the consent of higher level officials” in Russia who “shared the proceeds” from the kickbacks, one agent declared in an affidavit years later.

When this sale was used by Trump on the campaign trail last year, Hillary Clinton’s spokesman said she was not involved in the committee review and noted the State Department official who handled it said she “never intervened … on any [Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States] matter.”

In 2011, the administration gave approval for Rosatom’s Tenex subsidiary to sell commercial uranium to U.S. nuclear power plants in a partnership with the United States Enrichment Corp. Before then, Tenex had been limited to selling U.S. nuclear power plants reprocessed uranium recovered from dismantled Soviet nuclear weapons under the 1990s Megatons to Megawatts peace program.

Vadim Mikerin was a director of Rosatom’s Tenex in Moscow since the early 2000s, where he oversaw Rosatom’s nuclear collaboration with the United States under the Megatons to Megwatts program and its commercial uranium sales to other countries. In 2010, Mikerin was dispatched to the U.S. on a work visa approved by the Obama administration to open Rosatom’s new American arm called Tenam.

The kickbacks were known by the FBI, they had to happen to advance the case and to allow them as evidence of wrong-doing.

His, Mikerin’s, illegal conduct was captured with the help of a confidential witness, an American businessman, who began making kickback payments at Mikerin’s direction and with the permission of the FBI. The first kickback payment recorded by the FBI through its informant was dated Nov. 27, 2009, the records show.

In evidentiary affidavits signed in 2014and 2015, an Energy Department agent assigned to assist the FBI in the case testified that Mikerin supervised a “racketeering scheme” that involved extortion, bribery, money laundering and kickbacks that were both directed by and provided benefit to more senior officials back in Russia. More here.

Mikerin indictment document here.

The plea deal and 2 associated cases here.

Mikerin was sentenced to 4 years and forfeited $2,126,622.36  :

According to court documents, Mikerin was the director of the Pan American Department of JSC Techsnabexport (TENEX), a subsidiary of Russia’s State Atomic Energy Corporation and the sole supplier and exporter of Russian Federation uranium and uranium enrichment services to nuclear power companies worldwide, and the president of TENAM Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary and the official representative of TENEX. Court documents show that between 2004 and October 2014, conspirators agreed to make corrupt payments to influence Mikerin and to secure improper business advantages for U.S. companies that did business with TENEX, in violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). Mikerin admitted that he conspired with Daren Condrey, Boris Rubizhevsky and others to transmit approximately $2,126,622 from Maryland and elsewhere in the United States to offshore shell company bank accounts located in Cyprus, Latvia and Switzerland with the intent to promote the FCPA violations. Mikerin further admitted that the conspirators used consulting agreements and code words to disguise the corrupt payments.

Condrey, 50, of Glenwood, Maryland, pleaded guilty on June 17, 2015, to conspiracy to violate the FCPA and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Rubizhevsky, 64, of Closter, New Jersey, pleaded guilty on June 15, 2015, to conspiracy to commit money laundering. Condrey and Rubizhevsky await sentencing.

“Non-Communist” Putin Opens Major International Communist Youth Festival

By: Trevor Loudon | New Zeal

“Non-communist” Russian President Vladimir Putin has just opened a mass international communist youth festival in Sochi, Russia. The week long event, timed to coincide with the hundredth anniversary of the Bolshevik revolution, was personally endorsed by the Russian President. Putin  personally intervened so that the organizers could secure the Sochi venue.

Various reports have put attendee numbers between 10,000 and 60,000, with 30,000 the most often cited number. That includes a significant number of young Communist Party USA supporters including, Sara Ladino Cano (New York), Yennifer Mateo (Forida), Chauncey Robinson (New York), Emiliana Sparaco (California), Cameron Orr (New York) and Al Neal (Missouri) among them.

The Festival is organized by the decades old and still very much alive Soviet international front organization World Federation of Democratic Youth, and has drawn communist youth from more than 180 countries.

Not surprisingly, veteran US communist and New York based professional Russia propagandist Caleb Maupin and Kremlin financed TV channel RT have been publicizing the event.

Why would Vladimir Putin be putting his considerable political weight behind the largest international communist gathering in decades?

Why are communist youth from all over the world listening in rapt attention to the leader of a country that has allegedly repudiated their Marxist ideals?

What do they know that we don’t? Putin is the conservative movement’s friend now, right? Right???

The Mysterious Death of Joe McCarthy

By: Cliff Kincaid | America’s Survival

The new book Betrayal at Bethesda looks at the death of anti-communist Senator Joe McCarthy and others. The author J.C. Hawkins asks, how is it that McCarthy could go into Bethesda with a knee injury at five o’clock in a Sunday afternoon and be pronounced dead five days later from acute hepatitis. Hawkins speculates about a CIA role in the Senator’s demise, noting that McCarthy had wanted to investigate the infiltration of the agency by Soviet and Chinese intelligence operatives.

NFL: Blame the media for inflaming tensions

And liberal policies for creating the problems that caused them.

Incongruously, the media has been more focused these days on the NFL/national anthem flap than the most deadly shooting in U.S. history that occurred a mere two weeks ago in Las Vegas, Nevada. That by itself should say something. The media has been curiously incurious to dig too deeply into the past of Nevada shooter Stephen Paddock. What are they afraid they will find, another James Hodgkinson?

But the NFL controversy would not exist if the grandstanding Colin Kaepernick had not decided to lend his name to the Black Lives Matter movement by sitting down for the national anthem. And that wouldn’t have happened if a bunch of St. Louis (now Los Angeles) Rams had not made a “hands up, don’t shoot” gesture at a football game shortly after the acquittal of the police officer who shot Michael Brown in self-defense. And that wouldn’t have happened if the media hadn’t promoted the notion that Brown, Freddie Gray , and Trayvon Martin were simply innocent victims, instead of the criminals they were.

The media deliberately inflamed tensions in minority communities by promoting the lie rather than telling the truth. Facts were ignored, suppressed, or misconstrued as simply defensive reactions to the “racist” charge. The resulting outrage sparked riots that turned entire inner-city neighborhoods — where black families live and work — into cinders. An unprecedented rash of police assassinations followed.

The media has blood on its hands. But did that stop it?

Media expanded the narrative by using President Trump’s very wise and responsible actions on immigration to smear him and anyone associated with him as “racists,” “bigots,” and “Islamophobes.” This in turn signaled the radical Left antifa communists to weaponize the “racist” charge, taking to the streets to protest this “Nazi” takeover by Donald Trump. This calculated message of hate has in turn encouraged the Black Lives Matter crowd to become even more sanctimonious than they were before (but no less violent).

Victimhood is the new heroism in America.

Leftists now lunge at any opportunity to attack public messages of support for the president and this country. A restaurant in Phoenix posted a Facebook message supporting Trump and opposing “political correctness.” The restaurant promised not to show NFL games “until the organization got it together.”

The post went viral and the restaurant was forced to close its doors on October 9 following threats it received. According to owner Ron Sanchez, “People threatened to burn down the restaurant with the owners in it. It’s a crazy world we’re in.”

Local ABC News reporter Jennifer Martinez tweeted with perhaps a bit too much enthusiasm: “This was the viral FB post that Cup It Up American Grill posted & deleted after backlash. Restaurant is closed indefinitely.”

The media has deliberately fanned these flames. But all of it is based on a lie. Police do not oppress blacks. In fact, an opposite case can be made. The following chart shows that while blacks comprise only 13 percent of the U.S. population they represent almost 40 percent of fatal attacks on police.Meanwhile, black crime is off the charts in comparison with every other racial group in this country. Critics argue that blacks’ 40 percent share among U.S. prison populations is direct evidence of institutional racism (see table below). In a color-blind society, they charge, incarcerated black populations would reflect their 13 percent share of the general population.

Source: http://www.prisonpolicy.org/reports/rates.html

However, if black crime rates were the guide, it would seem that blacks are, if anything, underrepresented in prison populations. Take homicides for example. The table below shows that, despite representing 13 percent of the American population, blacks commit by far the majority of murders. Stats for 2015 are the latest available. Prior years, however, show similar results. Blacks also commit a disproportionate number in all other categories of violent crime.

There are many more statistics that reinforce this point. I could go on and on. Blacks are not over-represented in prisons because of institutional bias, they are over-represented because they commit more crimes. It is high time we get honest about that fact. Doubtless the SJWs will call me a racist for even mentioning it. But there is nothing racist about telling the truth. You can’t fix a problem until you are willing to admit you have one.

But the sad truth is that inner-city blacks do have plenty to be angry about. The media understands this and knows it can count on black anger so it rubs salt in the wound and misdirects the anger toward the media’s political opponents — i.e. conservatives, the one and only group consistently willing to stick its neck out to offer solutions that work.

But we rarely get the chance. The swamp doesn’t like real ideas, because they usually involve some kind of sacrifice. Just think about what happened with Obamacare. The GOP offered multiple proposals to abolish it when they knew it wouldn’t happen. But the minute they had the majority, and a real opportunity? Well, there were too many lobbyists to disappoint. Don’t get me wrong. The swamp is all about sacrifice — our sacrifice, but not theirs. And Democrats? Perish the thought!

Inner cities are falling apart before our eyes. Buildings are abandoned and crumbling. Schools teach much about how blacks have been wronged, but little that will help them get right. Massive amounts of drug abuse, prostitution, and violence plague inner cities. More people were murdered in inner-city Chicago last month than the total killed in the Las Vegas shooting. Meanwhile, to add outrage to injury, immigrants, both legal and illegal, are welcomed into the inner city to take those jobs that do exist. All this can be laid at Democrats’ feet — but they could never get away with it without a complicit press.

If I were black I’d be seeing red.

But not because of police brutality or excessive police shootings. If anything, there needs to be more police present in inner-city neighborhoods, and those black residents who understand this have been intimidated into stony silence while the left-wing fanatics among them rage and burn. Even Black Lives Matter people don’t buy this. Their real objection is capitalism. Why? Because the leaders of that movement are communists!

Not because of phony “white privilege (a concept invented by a hardcore Communist),” or “unequal access.” Blacks have been given more “access,” — more special grants, racial preferences in hiring and lending, and more welfare as a percent of their population than any other group, except refugees and certain other immigrants, (and what’s with that?)

I’d be seeing red because of the horrible way blacks have been used by the establishment Left, black and white, to entrench itself in power. Chicago, New York, Detroit, Baltimore — name the city. If a Democrat runs it, it’s a mess. They have entrenched themselves in power and suck tax resources like a bottomless sinkhole.

The only politician in recent memory who has offered to help actually remedy this problem is… wait for it… Donald Trump. If you recall, candidate Trump famously asked “What do you have to lose?”

The Democrats have failed completely in the inner cities… year after year, failure after failure, worse numbers after worse numbers; poverty, rejection, horrible education, no housing, no homes, no ownership. Crime at levels that nobody’s seen! You can go to war zones, in countries that we are fighting, and it’s safer than living in some of our inner cities! They’re run by the Democrats. And I ask you this… What do you have to lose?

Really, what do they have to lose? The media has abandoned the American people, and the lies they promote have had the most profound effect in inner cities, deliberately! The Democrats and establishment Republicans have abandoned the American people, and the lies they promote have had the most profound effect in inner cities. The hard left protesting in the streets and shouting “shut it down!” could care less about the issues they protest. Their real goal is anarchy, and the lies they promote have had the most profound effect in inner cities, deliberately!
