CAIR wants to silence dissenting viewpoints

The Iowa chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations Iowa Chapter (CAIR-IA) is advising their members to shut down an event held by the Cedar Valley Patriots for Christ, referring to it as “hateful toward Islam and Muslims.” The event, according to the Facebook invitation, features “Author and Historian Bill Federer” who has intensely studied the Qur’an and Islam.

Cedar Valley Patriots for Christ founder Judd Saul, also the director of Trevor Loudon’s films, told the author that his organization exists to “bring truth to the lies presented by the left.” He further stated that his group “will not be intimidated.”

Here is the text of the invitation:

Cedar Valley Patriots for Christ is proud to bring Author and Historian Bill Federer to Waterloo for a special event!

Bill Federer is a nationally known speaker, best selling author and president of Amerisearch, Inc., a publishing company dedicated to researching America’s noble heritage. As an accomplished historian, he has published many books including What Every American Needs to Know About the Qur’an – A History of Islam & the United States and Change to Chains-The 6,000 Year Quest for Control -Volume I-Rise of the Republic. His radio show called The American Minute features historical events “on this day in history”. Possessing a near encyclopedic knowledge of American and European history, his talks on Islam give a fascinating perspective on Islam’s 1400 year war with the West.

Bill be speaking on the truth and history of Islam. This is something that every American needs to hear.

The event is free of charge and we encourage you to bring your friends, family, and pastors.

CAIR is not impressed with the event and is calling on their members to contact the venue and get the event shut down. While nobody is asking CAIR to agree with Bill Federer or the Cedar Valley Patriots for Christ, the idea that CAIR’s default impulse is to shut down dissenting viewpoints is contrary to the spirit of the First Amendment. The better approach would be to read and seek to understand Bill Federer’s research and to dispute what CAIR believes to be false via a civil debate.

Watch a video of Bill Federer discussing his findings on Islam. This author would invite CAIR to respectfully address the author’s points.
