When I first heard this story, frankly, I didn’t believe it. But it turns out it is true. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and seven members of her family were kicked out of The Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, VA last night. The owner kicked her out because of what he called ‘moral convictions’. Sounds like a total lack of them if you ask me. She was embarrassed and booted simply because she works for President Trump. That’s appalling and totally out of line.
The report first surfaced when Jaike Foley-Schultz, who says he is a waiter at the Lexington restaurant The Red Hen, posted on Facebook that his boss kicked out the press secretary and her party early this morning. “I just served Sarah huckabee sanders for a total of 2 minutes before my owner kicked her out along with 7 of her other family members,” he wrote. This happens just a couple of days after Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was chased out of a D.C. Mexican restaurant by Democratic Socialists of America protesters.
People from both sides of the political aisle bombarded the restaurant’s Facebook page after this came out. According to The Hill, the post went viral when the director of Clean Virginia, a left-leaning energy focused nonprofit, shared the post on Twitter, along with a handwritten note purportedly from the restaurant that reads, among other things, “86 — Sara Huckabee Sanders.” “86” is restaurant industry slang meaning “throw out” or “get rid of.”
Sanders later confirmed on Twitter the incident did indeed happen, “Last night I was told by the owner of Red Hen in Lexington, VA to leave because I work for @POTUS and I politely left. Her actions say far more about her than about me. I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so.” The Red Hen’s owner in D.C. panicked and let everyone know his restaurant does not hold the same views as the one in Lexington.
Many people blasted the owner as intolerant. “If you are a whining liberal feel free to eat here, if you are a TRUE AMERICAN stay away,” wrote one Facebook reviewer, while another wrote: “Thank you for not serving that liar.” “I won’t spend a dime in this place,” wrote another commenter. “The owner is a disgusting human being whose absurd liberalism has driven him to lunacy … Let’s hope your ‘moral convictions’ can pay your bills.” One five-star review on Yelp read: “The best. I’ve heard that they serve crow to those deserving of it.” “Everyone should boycott this restaurant. Put them out of business. Asking a paying patron to leave because she’s a Republican is repulsive,” one Yelp review said.
Sanders was also defended by her father, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who blasted the restaurant’s “bigotry.” “Bigotry. On the menu at Red Hen Restaurant in Lexington VA. Or you can ask for the “Hate Plate”. And appetizers are “small plates for small minds,” he tweeted. The voicemail is now full for the restaurant and I predict a severe drop in customers. Hopefully, they will go toes up over this hateful behavior.
The actions of this business owner are despicable and it is behavior like hers that is simply tearing this country apart. I’ve never seen so much hate against an administration before, not even when Reagan was in office. It’s political stalking. Sarah Huckabee Sanders was treated shamefully. If the left keeps this up, someone is going to get hurt or killed very soon. Then we’ll see how leftist moral convictions justify that.
