Are we being played?

These past few weeks have been interesting to watch from the Peanut Gallery, a reference to a television program from back in my youth, The Howdy Doody Show.  While the Buffalo Bob entertained, there were kids seated off to the side on the set to cheer, laugh or otherwise add to the moment.

During this circus, the one called a Supreme Court nomination process, have we been treated, is it our turn in the Peanut Gallery?  Booing and clapping, wringing our hands or spitting on the floor in disgust while Congressmen and Senators line up for photo opportunities in the hope of gaining enough votes to get re-elected when mid-terms come in November.  It’s all one big show.

Never mind the lynching of Kavanaugh, that’s to be expected.  It’s called collateral damage by those who really don’t give a hang about individuals.  Kavanaugh and his family were selected to be sacrificed, it goes with being a public figure according to those who live inside the Beltway.

But others were also handpicked to be sacrificed on the altar of public opinion.  Dr. Ford and her remarkable, fantastic lack of critical details regarding a life-changing event that may never have happened?  …And yet she was held back as the Ace in the Hole, the power play reserved to have the floor drop out from underneath Kavanaugh during this very public lynching?

It doesn’t make sense; but somewhere behind the scenes, all of this has been planned out, right down to the last scheduled train leaving town; that’s how disturbing this whole political game has gotten.  Only a few highly placed elitists actually know how it’s supposed to play out.

Brett Kavanaugh was picked to replace Justice Kennedy, a moderate who sometimes ruled in favor of the Constitution while other times came across as an activist judge in favor of interpreting words more progressively.  Kavanaugh was packaged and sold to conservatives as if he were an Originalist, one who would base his rulings strictly on the exact wording found in the Constitution.  He’s gone to great lengths to make sure everyone saw his pocket version of the Constitution.

Is that really an accurate assessment?  Are we being played for saps, spectators in a much larger Peanut Gallery?

During his televised interview in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Kavanaugh said “…his job is to follow the precedents of the Supreme Court, not decide what is “the best policy”’.

…But aren’t precedents of the Supreme Court interpretations, rulings from other Supreme Court Justices, some of whom are clearly activist judges determined to undermine the very Constitution which they supposedly swore an oath to uphold?

That would make Kavanaugh a moderate, …as he shows us his pocket-sized Constitution, that contract which We The People depend upon, the exact words written down to hold government in check.

The Constitution isn’t a living breathing ever-changing document to be interpreted depending on the political powers in control at the moment.  That’s the lie which has been repeated over and over by those who desperately want to destroy the Constitution and all those lovely individual God-given rights which are protected from powers of government.

I don’t claim to be the sharpest pencil in the box; but why would the Democrats be upset that Justice Kennedy’s replacement would be just another moderate?  The fireworks and vitriol don’t match with the battle lines that have been erected, padded and reinforced as if Kavanaugh was going to upset the balance of powers.
