Somewhere in heaven, the victims of the Parkland shooting are smiling. Former Broward County Sheriff’s Deputy Scot Peterson was taken into custody today after a 15-month investigation into his actions, or should I say ‘inactions’, during the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. His cowardice got students and faculty killed that fateful day and this is justice that has been a long time coming.

Peterson now faces seven counts of neglect of a child, one count of perjury and three counts of culpable negligence. As far as I’m concerned, he should have been charged as an accomplice to those murders – all of them. I have no doubt he’ll be found guilty on all charges and is going away for a very long time… and we all know just how well a disgraced cop does in prison. There will be more justice coming his way behind bars.

“The FDLE investigation shows former Deputy Peterson did absolutely nothing to mitigate the MSD shooting that killed 17 children, teachers and staff and injured 17 others,” Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Rick Swearingen told WCTV. “There can be no excuse for his complete inaction and no question that his inaction cost lives.”

From The Daily Caller:

“On February 14, 2018, seventeen people were gunned down at the high school despite Peterson being on campus at the time of the shooting. There is video that shows him waiting outside the building instead of trying to confront the shooter.

“I was pleased the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in conjunction with the State Attorney’s Office conducted a thorough investigation that yielded the arrest of Scot Peterson. All the facts related to Mr. Peterson’s failure to act during the MSD massacre clearly warranted both termination of employment and criminal charges. It’s never too late for accountability and justice,” Sheriff Gregory Tony said to WCTV.”

And from TheBlaze:

“On Feb. 14, 2018, 14 students and three adults were murdered at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, and 16 others were injured. While the attack was ongoing, Peterson, then a school resource officer, was on campus. He chose to take cover instead of trying to confront the attacker, a disgruntled former student. He also ordered other police officers to stay back away from the building.

“Peterson would later defend his actions, telling NBC News in June 2018 that he was “sorry” about what happened but that he had been “trying to do the best I could with no information or intel at the time…and it was just happening so fast.”

“But evidence released later that same year, including audio from Peterson’s police radio, and a video that tracked the relative positions of both Peterson and the shooter painted a different story. At a Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission meeting in September, commission chairman and Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said that this proved that Peterson not only made no effort to help but also slowed the response of other law enforcement units.”

Peterson was both fired and arrested today which calls for a Snoopy Dance. Then he was booked into the BSO Main Jail. He deserves everything he gets for hiding while those students, staff, and teachers at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida were gunned down. No sympathy here for such a craven coward.

Fourteen students and three adults lost their lives that horrible day. Not only did Peterson not help them, he actively hid and kept others out as well while the massacre took place. Peterson’s case will be handled by Assistant State Attorney Tim Donnelly. Let’s hope they throw the book at the guy… in fact, throw all of them at Peterson.
