Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton took credit for getting presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on-board the gun control train Wednesday, claiming she and others “essentially forced” Trump to consider unpopular and some would argue, unconstitutional legislation that would ban Americans from having guns if they were on the “no-fly list.”

Clinton’s remarks came after Donald Trump announced on Twitter that he would be meeting with the National Rifle Association (NRA) about “not allowing people” on the no-fly list to exercise their second amendment rights.

“Welcome to the cause,” Clinton said. “This is something I’ve been talking about for a long time…”

Ted Cruz on Orlando Atrocity: ‘OUR NATION IS AT WAR…’

Hat Tip: The Right Scoop

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) Addresses The Media At The Capitol

From Ted Cruz:

“Our nation is at war. From 9/11 to the Boston Marathon, from Fort Hood to Chattanooga, from San Bernardino to last night’s horrific attack in Orlando, radical Islamic terrorism has declared jihad on America,” Sen. Cruz said. “Early reports indicate the Orlando terrorist had pledged his allegiance to ISIS, and he had previously been investigated by the FBI. And yet, as with the prior attacks, we were not able to act to stop this act of vicious terrorism that has now murdered 50 and injured more than 50 others.

“Our hearts go out to those killed and wounded last night. Our prayers are with their families, and with all their grieving loved ones.

“It is a time for action. We need a Commander in Chief who will speak the truth, and who will unleash the full force and fury of the American military to utterly destroy ISIS and its affiliates. We need to pass the Expatriate Terrorist Act, so that known ISIS terrorists cannot use U.S. passports to return to America and wage jihad. We need a President who is serious – who will identify the enemy by name and do everything necessary to defeat it.

“The next few days will be sadly predictable. Democrats will try to use this attack to change the subject. As a matter of rigid ideology, far too many Democrats – from Barack Obama to Hillary Clinton – will refuse to utter the words ‘radical Islamic terrorism.’ They will claim this attack, like they claimed every previous attack, was isolated and had nothing to do with the vicious Islamist theology that is daily waging war on us across the globe. And they will try to exploit this terror attack to undermine the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms of law-abiding Americans.

“Enough is enough. What we need is for every American – Democrat and Republican – to come together, abandon political correctness, and unite in defeating radical Islamic terrorism.

“ISIS doesn’t just target soldiers. They don’t just target Republicans. Or Jews. They also target Christians and fellow Muslims. They target each and every one of us. As we saw this morning, they target the gay and lesbian community. Their objective, which they broadcast worldwide, is to murder or forcibly convert every single American.

“For all the Democrats who are loud champions of the gay and lesbian community whenever there is a culture battle waging, now is the opportunity to speak out against an ideology that calls for the murder of gays and lesbians. ISIS and the theocracy in Iran (supported with American taxpayer dollars) regularly murder homosexuals, throwing them from buildings and burying them under rocks. This is wrong, it is evil, and we must all stand against it. Every human being has a right to live according to his or her faith and conscience, and nobody has a right to murder someone who doesn’t share their faith or sexual orientation. If you’re a Democratic politician and you really want to stand for LGBT, show real courage and stand up against the vicious ideology that has targeted our fellow Americans for murder.

“Today, all of America stands in solidarity with the people of Orlando. All of us should lift them up in prayer, demand action, and if you have any information about the Orlando shooter or potential radical Islamic terror plots, please act to keep us safe by using the FBI tips website: https://tips.fbi.gov.”

Below is a painstakingly detailed timeline surrounding the events and the people involved in the gun-walking program which leaves this author with absolutely no doubt that the purpose of the Operation was to justify a so-called “assault weapons ban.”

In the wake of the revelation that Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman was in possession of a .50-caliber rifle (that can “take down a helicopter“), a reminder is in order about the TRUE nature of Operation Fast and Furious.

Fast and Furious Scandal Resurfaces—Media Ignore It

By: Roger Aronoff
Accuracy in Media

The liberal media avoid reporting on President Obama’s many scandals at any cost, and Fast and Furious is no exception. Despite the media’s studied avoidance of these scandals, their impact continues. When Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents discovered that a weapon from Fast and Furious was found in Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman’s Mexican hideout, there was virtual silence from the mainstream media.

But U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson’s ruling that President Obama cannot use executive privilege to prevent the release of records to Congress has the potential to breathe new life into this ongoing scandal. “Berman Jackson limited her order to information not covered by other protections and told the Justice Department to produce it by Feb. 2,” reports Bloomberg. The judge is an Obama appointee, and yet none of the network evening news shows found this story to be newsworthy. The only mention of it in The Washington Post was in an online blog, PowerPost, under the heading “Hot on the Right,” that linked to a Politico story. You see, it’s a story that only appeals to conservatives, so why bother to put a reporter on it?

Don’t expect reporters to suddenly start reporting on Fast and Furious’ ongoing death toll.

The weapon retrieved from El Chapo’s hideout was a .50 caliber capable of destroying a helicopter, according to Fox News. A weapon of this size could have, undoubtedly, led to many more lives lost. Yet this has received scant coverage.

Instead, the mainstream media are riveted by the discussion of President Obama’s executive orders. As we have recently reported, California has some of the strictest gun laws in the union, yet Tashfeen Malik and Syed Rizwan Farook were able tokill 14 people and wound many others in San Bernardino.

USA Today and other news organizations are particularly concerned with the background check backlog that has burgeoned since October 2015. “The enormous stakes are not always apparent, until the first reports of a new mass shooting echo across social media or cable television,” wrote Kevin Johnson for USA Today on January 20. He pointed to Dylann Roof’s Charleston Church shooting as an example of how faulty background checks could result in American deaths.

This is the height of hypocrisy. Mainstream media reporters are worried about the consequences of faulty background checks—but not the approximately 2,000 weapons sold through Fast and Furious.

During Fast and Furious, members of the ATF told gun sellers to look the other way during suspicious transactions. “A number of Federal Firearms Licensed (FFL) gun dealers in the Phoenix area routinely contacted ATF when they noticed suspicious customers attempting purchases; for example, someone ordering large numbers of …’weapons of choice’ used by the Mexican drug cartels, and paying with large sums of cash brought in a paper bag,” reported Sharyl Attkisson when she was still at CBS. “But starting in fall 2009, instead of stopping the transactions or questioning the customers, ATF often encouraged select gun dealers to go ahead and complete suspicious sales.”

Attkisson received Accuracy in Media’s Reed Irvine Award for Investigative Journalism in 2012 for her excellent coverage of the Fast and Furious scandal, and for following leads where others shied away.

“ATF’s internal Public Affairs Talking Points show the agency was using Fast and Furious to help justify new gun control regulations—without telling the public that ATF was actually facilitating the delivery of weapons to Mexican drug cartels,” reported Attkisson on her website.

Those talking points, issued in January 2011, state that “These cases demonstrate the ongoing trafficking of firearms by Mexican [drug trafficking organizations] and other associated groups operating in Arizona and the need for reporting of multiple sales for certain types of rifles in order to ferret out those intent on providing firearms to these criminal groups.”

Not only have Fast and Furious guns resulted in hundreds of dead Mexicans, these weapons have also traveled back across the border and been used to attack or kill Americans, such as Border Patrol agent Brian Terry. The weapons have also been connected to an Islamic terror attack.

“…the scandal took on a new dimension with the revelation that Nadir Soofi, one of two Muslim terrorists killed attempting to murder attendees of a ‘Draw Muhammad’ cartoon contest held in Texas in May, had acquired one of the guns he owned as a result of the Fast and Furious operation,” reported John Fund for National Review last August. “This meant that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms was in the position of indirectly selling Islamic terrorists one of the weapons they may have used in an attack on Americans on American soil.”

“See, this all occurred at a time when reining in out-of-control, unaccountable law-enforcement officials wasn’t a priority to the Left,” noted Jim Geraghty of National Review on January 20. “It is now, but, eh, sorry, you missed the news cycle.”

Obama’s gun control measures mean little if the administration has already let those who should never have received access to American guns simply walk away with everything.

Investor’s Business Daily summed it up this way:

But don’t expect the White House to suddenly become cooperative. Jackson gave the administration until Feb. 2 to turn over the documents, which happens to be Groundhog Day. And like the classic movie, the administration will likely repeat its foot-dragging efforts in the hope that it will be safely out of office before anyone really knows what happened and why.

Republicans in Congress and the public at large should demand that the administration come clean now, if for no other reason than to honor Brian Terry’s service.

The sad fact is that most of the media have been so dishonest that they refuse to acknowledge any scandal as being tied to President Obama or his administration. David Brooks, the supposed conservative at The New York Times, commented last year that President Obama had run “an amazingly scandal-free administration.” Sure. Maybe if you don’t count Fast & Furious, using the IRS for political purposes, Benghazi, Solyndra, the Veterans Administration deprivation of timely health care, resulting in many deaths, and the State Department mishandling of classified materials, just to name a few. And each of those has included stonewalling by the administration, lies and cover-ups.

WATCH: Obama wasn’t the only politician to get emotional this week (video)

fake tears

We all know that Obama shed some crocodile tears this week, but you may not be aware of an inspirational speech given by Congressman Greg Walden (R-Ore.), who emotionally called out government overreach and the situation in Oregon, where patriots are fighting to bring attention to the plight of the Hammonds’, as discussed at TrevorLoudon.com (see here and here).

Waldon gave an impassioned speech on the house floor, as excellently reported at OPB.org. While he does not agree with the patriots, who are currently occupying a federal building in the remote Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, he called on Congress to “understand what drives people to do what’s happening tonight in Harney County.”

“This is a government that has gone too far for too long,” Walden declared. Discussing yet another land takeover in a neighboring county posing as a proposal for a “monument,” Walden says “This is outrageous! It flies in the face of the people!”

Here is an excerpt:

Walden spoke about the frustrations of ranchers and rural citizens in Oregon, pointing to what he sees as mismanagement of the Steens Mountain Cooperative Management and Protection Area.

“I have seen what happens when overzealous bureaucrats and agencies go beyond the law and clamp down on people,” said Walden.

Walden said he thinks the armed protesters at the refuge have gone too far.

“Now, I’m not condoning this takeover in anyway. I want to make that clear,” he said. “I don’t think it’s appropriate.”

He said he’d rather the armed occupiers realize that they’ve made their case and go home. “But I understand and hear their anger,” said Walden.

Walden also defended the Hammonds, the ranchers convicted of arson on federal rangelands, and said their punishment was too harsh.

Dwight and Steven Hammond were both convicted of arson for a 2001 fire that burned into the Steens Mountain Cooperative Management and Protection Area. Prosecutors allege the Hammonds set that fire to conceal evidence of deer they had illegally slaughtered on federal land. The Hammonds said they had been burning to control invasive species, and the fire spread accidentally.

Dwight Hammond was also convicted for a 2006 “back-burn” fire that he set in an effort to protect the family’s ranch from wildfire. That fire also spread onto federal land, and was reported by nearby firefighters.

“They’re longtime responsible ranchers in Harney County,” Walden said. He advocated for changes to the law under which the Hammonds were sentenced.

Walden also said people too often ridicule rural Americans, rather than try and understand their way of life.

“To my friends across Eastern Oregon, I will always fight for you,” said Walden, choking up at the podium. “But we have to understand there’s a time and a way.

Obama’s Back Door Attempt to Intimidate Americans Through Gun Control

By: Terresa Monroe-Hamilton

Barack Obama

Shameful. Obama wiped away more fake tears as he announced further gun control measures today. He is absolutely sidestepping Congress and this is a clear Constitutional overreach. This comes at a time that terrorism is growing exponentially here in the US due to Obama’s open border’s policy and his refugee resettlement program.

On Monday, Obama vowed to proceed with new executive actions on gun control after huddling with top law enforcement officials. He claims he has the “legal authority” to act. The president spoke after meeting with Attorney General Loretta Lynch, FBI Director James Comey and other top officials to review their proposals and finalize his plans. Obama also said their recommendations are “well within my legal authority” and would be supported by “the overwhelming majority of the American people, including gun owners.” Uh no… they won’t and he knows that is a lie. “The recommendations that are being made by my team here are ones that are entirely consistent with the Second Amendment,” Obama said, claiming they could “potentially save lives.” What they will do is cost lives as he strips even more Americans their best means to protect themselves and their families.

The details on Obama’s new gun control executive order started leaking last night. Barack Obama claims his actions are to “reduce gun violence and make our communities safer.” Right. The statement went on to say: “Gun violence has taken a heartbreaking toll on too many communities across the country. Over the past decade in America, more than 100,000 people have been killed as a result of gun violence—and millions more have been the victim of assaults, robberies, and other crimes involving a gun. The President and Vice President are committed to using every tool at the Administration’s disposal to reduce gun violence,” the statement added.

Mark Levin has come out and slammed Obama’s executive order as sheer intimidation. The White House is broadening the definition of what a gun seller is in an attempt to bully collectors and hobbyists who sell firearms privately. Obama is going after not just gun show dealers… he’s going after individuals who are privately selling guns. Levin is also saying that this is a new broader definition, which will include factors such as how quickly collectors and hobbyists sell guns they acquire, whether they sell guns for more than they paid for them and how often and in what quantity they sell firearms. Bureaucrats and politicians will decide whether the law is being violated as they deal with people individually. That isn’t law or justice, that is blatant tyranny. Levin calls this proposal shameful and says they are pushing this without any statutory basis whatsoever.

Gun Measures1

Some of the proposals from Obama include overhauling the background check system in gun sales and investing $500 in mental health care. 200 new ATF agents will be hired to enforce gun laws. President Obama is also directing the Departments of Defense, the Department of Justice and Homeland Security to conduct or sponsor research into gun safety technology. I’m sure that has to do with trigger locks, etc. If you are a gun dealer at a gun show or on the Internet, you will have to be licensed and conduct background checks on clientele. There is no threshold on who is considered a gun dealer.

Tucked into the mental health provisions of Obama’s plan is the inclusion of “information from the Social Security Administration in the background check system about beneficiaries who are prohibited from possessing a firearm.” If an individual is deemed incapable of handling his own finances, his right to bear arms will be stripped. This means that information on beneficiaries who meet the criteria of mental impairment – demonstrated in part by an inability to manage their own benefits – will be added to the National Instant Criminal Background System (NICS) so that the beneficiaries cannot buy a gun. Also making good on its promise to deliver “common sense” gun control, the Obama administration on Monday finalized a rule that enables health care providers to report the names of mentally ill patients to an FBI firearms background check system. Gee, they’ve made doctors into snitches. Don’t people see how this could be used to lock up those that are not politically correct? Every communist regime out there has done this and is still doing this.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch also warned today that the federal government would be actively searching out those firearms’ owners who want to sidestep registration. This threat refers to the part of the executive action having to do with sales made by gun stores, gun shows and online. She is actively threatening gun sellers here. This mandate is being left wide open to legal interpretation and it could easily be applied to one individual selling a gun to another. We’ll see if they take it that far, but I would not be surprised if they do. Lynch vowed the feds, through her Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, would be on the watch for violators.

Gun Measures2

Mostly what Obama is doing here is lying and manipulating. He’s threatening and deceiving. All his pontificating will do one thing for certain… increase gun sales and make weapons even more popular. Obama has no intention of stopping gun crime. If he could get away with gun confiscation, he would. But he can’t and therefore he makes theater out of proposed gun control. The other thing his overreach does is ensure that either Donald Trump or Ted Cruz will become president. It’s all part of that unintended consequences thingie.

Obama’s appearance today was nothing short of a hissy fit. He was royally ticked off.

Per Bearing Arms:

He brought out victims of crimes that would not been saved by any of his proposals, mentioned crimes that could not be stopped by any existing or proposed law, and vilified the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization the National Rifle Association… and those were the least objectionable parts of his act.

Obama pointedly lied about “gun violence,” gun shows, internet sales, background checks, and so-called “smart guns,” while lashing out at hundreds of millions of American citizens and the Constitution itself for daring to stand in his way.

All the water works and grandstanding in the world won’t get him his way on gun control. But he’ll say that he did more than any other president to enact it. It’s all propaganda and for his so-called legacy. Pathetic. It’s not just gun control that is ticking off America… it’s Obama’s brazen lawlessness in play. You can also be sure that Obama is not finished with regards to gun control and will keep poking this badger.

I’m with Ted Cruz on this. Cruz said that President Obama thinks he can work around Congress because he’s got “a pen and a phone.” “He can abuse his power all he wants,” Cruz said in a stump speech in Iowa on Monday. “Well, if you live by the pen, you die by the pen. And my pen has got an eraser.” When Ted Cruz or Donald Trump becomes president, there will be a whole bunch of erasing going on. I can’t wait.
