Our Weasel Of The Week!! – 03-10-16

The Watcher’s Council

Yes, once again, it’s time to present this week’s statuette of shame, The Golden Weasel!!

Every Tuesday, the Council nominates some of the slimiest, most despicable characters in public life for some deed of evil, cowardice or corruption they’ve performed. Then we vote to single out one particular Weasel for special mention, to whom we award the statuette of shame, our special, 100% plastic Golden Weasel. This week’s nominees were particularly slimy and despicable, but the votes are in and we have our winner… the envelope please…

Mitt Romney Falls Apart When Pressed On His Previous Support For Donald Trump
Failed GOP Candidate Mitt Romney!!

The Noisy Room: My nomination this week goes to Mitt Romney. Romney really stepped in it over Donald Trump. Sean Hannity came out and slammed him on being willing to maul someone in his own party, but wasn’t willing to go after Barack Obama. There are a couple of reasons for that. One, none of the weenies in the GOP dare to go after someone who is black. They are terrified of being called racist. Second, Romney is a Progressive just as Obama is. He’s not as much of one, but he quietly agrees with a number of stances of those on the left. Third, he views Donald Trump as a direct threat to the power structure of the GOP. So, hypocritically he goes out and attacks one of our own in a way he would never savage the left. It’s despicable.

While I am not a fan of Donald Trump’s currently, you just don’t do this. I also think this is a calculated move on Romney’s part and that is even worse. He asked people to vote for any candidate but Trump that they figured could win their state. That move was meant to fracture the party even further and to deliberately result in a brokered convention. He didn’t call for Cruz and Rubio to unite over Trump… he called for party divisiveness. This is exactly the type of thing that has resulted in the rise of Donald Trump. The manipulation, the corruption, the underhandedness, the dishonesty on both sides of the political aisle is epic. Trump is a Frankenstein of the GOP’s own making. Romney’s lambasting of him was disgraceful and showed the true face of Republican elitists. If we have a two-faced weasel, it should go to Romney.

Forum: Does Anything Need To Be Done To Strengthen The Second Amendment Nationally?

The Watcher’ Council

Second Amendment

Every week on Monday, the Council and our invited guests weigh in at the Watcher’s Forum with short takes on a major issue of the day, the culture or daily living. This week’s question: Does Anything Need To Be Done To Strengthen The Second Amendment Nationally?

The Daley Gator: A national CHL bill perhaps, at the least a national carry reciprocity act.

Laura Rambeau Lee, Right Reason: Let’s see – The Second Amendment states: “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” Nope, that pretty much covers our absolute inherent right to protect ourselves, our families and our property, and if need be to fight against an out of control tyrannical federal government. The simplicity of the language in asserting the rights of We the People would only be diluted by additional legislative measures. We need to make sure we elect people who understand these rights and who will faithfully follow the law established by our Founders.

This week’s winning essay, Bookworm Room’s Self-reliance — the all-American virtue, is her fascinating look at an old fashioned, long ingrained American virtue and tradition… and the attempts to undermine it.

The custom each week is to entice you with a slice of the winning article. This week, In spite of my best efforts, I keep getting a database error message when attempting to access Bookworm’s site. Such things are normally temporary, so the upside is that you will have no reason not to go to the link and read her entire essay! Highly recommended.

Here are this weeks’ nominees…

http://d35brb9zkkbdsd.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Lindsey-Graham.jpg
Senator Lindsay Graham!!

The Noisy Room: The nod for weasel this week goes to Lindsey ‘Dancing Queen’ Graham for joking that the GOP is batshit crazy and then at the #WPCFDinner: “If you kill Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial is at the Senate, no one will convict you.“ What a vile thing to say. The man should hang his head in shame and slink out of politics permanently for that snipe. Remember, Graham is the acolyte of John McCain who hates Ted Cruz with a passion.

Graham is now predicting Hillary Clinton will be president. Heck, he’s probably rooting for her as he never met a Progressive he didn’t adore.

Graham mocked the rest of the 2016 GOP field going through the remaining candidates. He cited “moderate” Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s recent comments about “women leaving their kitchens,” “nice guy” Dr. Ben Carson having “tried to kill his cousin” and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio changing his positions. “How did I lose to these guys?” Graham asked at one point. Oh, I don’t know… maybe because you are an effeminate incompetent boob?

With Donald Trump, however, Graham shifted to a more serious tone. “I don’t think he understands what makes America great. Our party and our country is going to have to up its game. You’re going to have to ask him harder questions,” Graham urged the reporters in the room. “And I don’t mean to turn a funny thing into a serious thing.” First off, Graham wouldn’t know what would make America great if he was trout smacked with it. And is it just me or does that sound suspiciously like he is grudgingly supporting Donald Trump? I don’t find it funny in the least.

For joking about the murder of a sitting senator and a good man, Lindsey Graham should get a Golden Weasel. In fact, he should be clubbed with it.

Twitter CEO And Anti-Free Speech Gauleiter Jack Dorsey!!

Nice Deb: I’m going to nominate Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey for saying in extreme weasel-like fashion, that “Twitter stands for freedom of expression, speaking truth to power, and empowering dialogue. That starts with safety.”

His emphasis was on “safety” (for special SSW snowflakes) over freedom of expression, truth to power, etc.

Our Watcher’s Council Nominations – Birthday Edition

The Watcher’s Council

http://a57.foxnews.com/img.foxnews.com/static/managed/img/fn2/Health/health/660/371/900_george_washington.jpg

George Washington’s birthday was February 22nd, 1732. His birthday used to be celebrated as a special day, separate and unique to him, as befitted the man who was the Father of our country. Nowadays, he’s lumped in with all the others in something called ‘President’s Day’ while lesser men have special days of their own. I have never quite gotten used to that ingratitude.

Our Revolution was unique in that it was not class based, but anchored on the simple principle that Americans were entitled to G-d given rights and liberties as free men, not mere subjects of a foreign crown. Contrary to popular belief, there was not universal support in the American Colonies for that position.

George Washington was a man of wealth and property in what was then considered middle age. He could have chosen to sit things out, as many others in his position did. Instead, like the other Founders, he chose to risk his life, fortune and sacred honor to join in what then must have seemed a lost cause, sheer fantasy, the idea that a hastily mustered and ill-financed colonial army could win a war against a major world power.

Had the fortunes of war gone against him and the Rebellion put down, George Washington, along with the other Founders knew full well he would have been hung as a traitor to the British Crown. He didn’t hesitate to risk everything for what he thought was right.
