TODAY’S NN&V HEADLINES

  • CANDID CANDIDATE: An e-Interview with Todd “Taxpayer” Bailey (Nevada News Bureau) – Todd “Taxpayer” Bailey is a candidate for Nevada Senate District 4 and did an e-interview with Nevada News Bureau’s publisher, Chuck Muth this week.
  • Conservatives Don’t Need a Litmus Test for RINOs (Richard Viguerie) – In an interview with the Baltimore Sun this week, Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele publicly rejected the candidate “litmus test” proposed by a group of national conservatives. The concept behind the proposal is to force a certain “conservative ideological purity” on to candidates and elected officials in the Republican Party so that Republicans don’t end up supporting socialist-statist policies. The RNC will vote on the proposal next month when it holds its annual meeting.
  • Why Do We Need A “Jobs Summit” If Harry Reid’s So-Called “Stimulus” Is Working? (National Republican Senatorial Committee) – As the White House hosts its “jobs summit” and discussions heat up surrounding a potential second stimulus bill, Democrats appear to have conceded that their $787 billion “stimulus” debacle has failed at providing the much-needed economic recovery that President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) promised when they rammed the bill through Congress in February 2009.
  • Gibbons: Legislature Acted Irresponsibly By Failing to Approve Unemployment Regulation (Sean Whaley/Nevada News Bureau) – Gov. Jim Gibbons is rejecting the suggestion made by a lawmaker that his administration delayed action on regulations needed to ensure the continuation of unemployment benefits for out-of-work Nevadans beginning Jan. 1.
  • Domenici: Yucca No, Recycling Yes (Pete Domenici) – More than 12 years ago, at Harvard University, I proposed a new energy paradigm: resurgence of nuclear power. At that time, interest in nuclear power in the United States was stagnant. That is no longer the case.
