Republican U.S. Senate candidate Danny Tarkanian today asked the following question of Senator Harry Reid regarding President Obama’s statement that he was not involved in the “Cornhusker Kickback” or any other health care deals. here is what the President said in the Weekly Standard:

“Let’s just clarify. I didn’t make a bunch of deals,” Obama told ABC. “There is a legislative process that is taking place in Congress and I am happy to own up to the fact that I have not changed Congress and how it operates the way I would have liked.”

DANNY TARKANIAN: “President Obama today said that he had nothing to do with cutting the infamous “Cornhusker Kickback” deal in order to pass Harry Reid’s version of the Senate health care bill. Today I ask Senator Reid to be clear with the people of Nevada. Is the President correct? The people of Nevada need to know that you are working in their best interests, and the ‘Cornhusker Kickback’ is a perfect example of your leadership position compromising – not benefiting – your ability to help the people of Nevada. The President now says you essentially did that deal on your own. Do you agree with his assessment? Did you negotiate the ‘Cornhusker Kickback’ on your own to the detriment of the people of Nevada?

“On this State of the Union day, it’s your word versus the President’s.”
