We were out for a nice drive on a Saturday. Something we do frequently.

We live in Northwestern Idaho. And today, we drove a short distance to Hauser Lake where we were looking at homes. We were almost done for the day, when my hubby slammed on the brakes and uttered an, “Oh, my G-d!” At first, I couldn’t tell what he was looking at and then I looked up at the flag.

We are used to seeing American flags up and around Coeur D Alene, ID. It’s a beautiful and patriotic slice of heaven here. We frequently see the Marine flag, the P.O.W. flag, the American flag, our Kootenai county flag, the Idaho flag and since we are about 100 miles from the Canadian border – the Canadian flag. But, this is a first. Flying proudly over a beautiful Hauser home was the Soviet Russia flag:

I was stunned and horrified. We both felt it collectively like a slap across the face. You won’t find a bigger supporter of the Constitution, Freedom of Speech and the Bill of Rights than me. But I have to tell you – That’s. Just. Not. Right.

It’s come down to this. The insidious importation of corruption, Marxism and evil into the American dogma has taken hold. Communists/Marxists/Progressives have nothing to fear in their minds now – their platforms are the norm pushed by our government and are considered chic. They’ve come boldly out of the political closet and are flying their colors for all to see.

I just felt like crying, because I could imagine a similar flag waving in place of the American flag I love so dearly as our once great nation is swept by the Progressive movement into a dictatorship and abject slavery. What will it take to bring Americans to their feet and to wake them up? The hammer and sickle over the White House? Where are my fellow patriots? Idaho, is this the change you wanted?

One wonders just how widespread it is. How deep the rot is and if the evil can still be lanced…

Update:

The actual pic from a well-to-do neighborhood near Hauser Lake. Taken with a cell phone and the wind would not cooperate, but that is it. We’ll try and get better ones tomorrow. No other flag was flown. There was no other sign. For those out there who are mad at me for not taking it down, here is my statement on that:

I am not in the habit of trespassing and taking down others’ flags. Constitutionally they have the right – that doesn’t mean I have to like it. I also don’t particularly want to get shot…

You know, North Idaho has been notorious for being home to white supremacist groups.

That may have been true at one time, but any more they’ve wandered off in search of other places where their presence is less obvious, and in their place the North has been infested with a collection of left-leaning busybodies more interested in managing their neighbors’ lives than in protecting each other’s freedoms and liberties.

Today’s political climate makes the closet socialists and fascists much more comfortable with flaunting their allegiances, so it’s perhaps not entirely amazing that some misguided fan of total government flies the flag of Josef Stalin, Europe’s greatest murderer.

While I find it offensive that someone displays the symbol of the Bolsheviks, I also know that 1) it’s not my place to infringe his right to free speech or expression — remember, the 1st Amendment exists primarily to protect political speech — and 2) he wouldn’t pull a stunt like this unless he believed society as a whole was unable to reject that symbol and what it represents.

The total government cheerleaders — whether justified or not — sense that this is their moment.

I disagree. And, though I do disagree, I remain true to the principles in the Bill of Rights: he can fly his cursed flag, and I can use his slap in the face to help revive and inspire those who love this country for what it was created to be, not what they hope to subvert it to become.

Keep your stinking flag, comrade.
