Watcher’s Forum: What Effect Did The Vice Presidential Debate Have On The Election?

The Watcher’s Council

Every week on Monday morning, the Council and invited guests weigh in at the Watcher’s Forum with short takes on a major issue of the day. This week’s question: What effect if any do you think last week’s vice presidential debate had on the election?

The Independent Sentinel: None, but it does paint the Obama-Biden ticket as condescending, arrogant and dishonest. They are willing to blame anybody for their failures – Biden threw the CIA under the campaign bus last night.

Some think Biden was setting the stage for a more aggressive Obama. To me, it gave Romney more ammo for the next debate. Ryan looked presidential, but Biden was frighteningly not.

The Razor: Given that far fewer people watched this debate compared to the one four years ago, I’d say very little. While I’ve always thought Biden was a buffoon, especially when I was one of his constituents in Delaware, his antics only confirmed my belief. I kept on waiting for him to shake his fist at Paul Ryan and yell, “Damn kids! Get off my lawn!” It did raise my opinion of Paul Ryan though. I’d really like to see him in the Oval Office someday.

JoshuaPundit: To answer the question directly, yes, but a very subtle one that could turn out to be bigger than thought.

Both men entered the arena with a certain task in mind. Chuckles the Clown’s main task was to re-energize the Democrat’s far left base. Paul Ryan’s main task was to present himself is such a way as to destroy the ‘pushing granny off the cliff’ caricature of him the Obama Campaign has spent millions pushing.

Both men achieved what they set out to do. However, Biden achieved a few other things as well.

Those whom watched the debate saw someone a heartbeat away from the presidency acting in such a bizarre, over the top manner that I guarantee it turned off independents and ‘soft’ Obama supporters and made many of them think twice about whom they were voting for. It’s anecdotal, but the majority of women I spoke to or whose responses I read about were particularly affected, and in close battleground states that could make a difference.

Another thing Biden achieved was to stick his foot in his mouth over Benghazi and claim the White House never received any intel from State on Benghazi. This alienated the Clintons when the White House had to cover for Biden and the president and openly blame the State Department Mrs. Clinton runs for the fiasco.

The Clintons are reportedly furious because tying Benghazi to Mrs. Clinton affects her chances for running in 2016. After President Obama tossed Hillary Clinton under the bus in this fashion, I doubt Mr. Bill is planning on doing any more major campaigning for the president. Again, a subtle effect, but one that might mean something in a close race with an election only a few weeks away.

The Noisy Room: I think it will have a minimal effect on the election. Having said that, it did highlight the crass, political tactics of the left and for those who fact check, it shows a profound penchant for lying. It highlighted the bias of the media as well in favor of the Democrats and the left’s Progressive agenda.

I believe last night’s debate will drive women away from the Democrat camp and toward Romney’s side. What was showcased was a blatant rudeness, a gleeful disconnection — bordering on psycho-something-or-other — with the constant inappropriate laughter, the gesticulation and the endless smarmy interruptions. Those whose personal emphasis lies more with style and “character,” as opposed to the “political wonk” crowd, will be turned off by Biden’s conduct. Ryan scored a major win with Independents and they will visibly swing towards the Romney camp now.

Biden was a brazen ass. For the women in the audience, they will have seen a young, polished, respectful and well spoken man facing a boorish, bombastic, even desperate has-been who couldn’t compete on actual facts and on the record. Biden was therefore compelled to just be nasty and condescending, liberally using smirking and eye rolling gestures to make up for lack of substance. Anyone who, until now, had been favorably inclined toward “Uncle Joe” will have seen him replaced by the crazy uncle you avoid inviting to family functions because he’s simply an embarrassment a minute. To summarize, I think the debate simply added to the Romney momentum, regardless of how the left spins it.

Bookworm Room: I do not believe that the Vice-Presidential debate will change minds amongst the diehards on one side or the other. However, I do think that, amongst independents, Biden’s brazen attempt to use buffoonery and bullying to avoid providing any substantive answers will backfire amongst independents and true undecideds. Lastly, I think a lot of women were turned off by the fact that Biden represented the worst kind of old fashioned male verbal bullies. I’m no shrinking violet, but I’ve certainly been on the receiving end of men like that, and I don’t like it.

Well, there you have it.

Make sure to tune in every Monday for the Watcher’s Forum. And remember, every Wednesday, the Council has its weekly contest with the members nominating two posts each, one written by themselves and one written by someone from outside the group for consideration by the whole Council. The votes are cast by the Council and the results are posted on Friday morning.

It’s a weekly magazine of some of the best stuff written in the blogosphere and you won’t want to miss it.

Candy Crowley and Obama Tag-Team vs. Romney

By: Sher Zieve
Gulag Bound

It began as a test for the Obama syndicate‘s approval. During the VP debates, “Moderator” Martha Raddatz would ask VP Candidate Paul Ryan a question, a seemingly increasingly-demented VP Biden would begin loudly berating and contemptibly smirking and laughing wile Ryan was trying to answer. Meanwhile, Raddatz continued to ask Ryan one follow-up question after another while Biden was still spouting off. Although it seems to have worked for few others, the Obama sophomoric base appears to have loved it. It seems the keg-party/DUI and doper crowd supports Obama hands down.

Now comes Moderator Candy Crowley; the same Crowley that daily offers her opinions as news on Radio for ABC as each time a story about either Romney or Ryan must be “reported” one can hear the contemptuous and condescending sneer in her voice. However, this time it appears to be worse. After both the Romney and Obama camps agreed to abide by the debate format–and their lawyers had agreed–Candy Crowley decided to change it…seemingly on her own.

Mark Halperin (Time-The Page) reports:

According to the town-hall format language in the agreement, after each audience question and both two-minute responses from the candidates, Obama and Romney are expected to have an additional discussion facilitated by Crowley. Yet her participation is meant to be otherwise limited. As stated in the document: “In managing the two-minute comment periods, the moderator will not rephrase the question or open a new topic … The moderator will not ask follow-up questions or comment on either the questions asked by the audience or the answers of the candidates during the debate or otherwise intervene in the debate except to acknowledge the questioners from the audience or enforce the time limits, and invite candidate comments during the two-minute response period.

The memorandum, which has been obtained by TIME, was signed by lawyers for the two campaigns on Oct. 3, the day of the first presidential debate in Denver.”

However, Ms. Crowley apparently didn’t like that and has decided to unilaterally (or with advice from the Obama syndicate’s?) decided to change that petty legal agreement to fit hers and Obama’s own agenda. Crowley has decided to disregard the “rules of engagement” and has announced that she will control both the candidate responses and will then follow up with her own penetrating questions of the candidates…make that “penetrating questions of the upstart candidate Governor Mitt Romney who is doing way too well in the polls for either the media or Team Obama to continue to allow.”

In order to appear not to be the obvious cause of this additional departure from sanity–if not the law–the Obama syndicate has yawningly announced in a rather feckless manner that it disagrees with Crowley on this…but ’what can one do’? ABC doesn’t appear to care about any lawsuits that may result from this breach because if Crowley is successful in brow-beating and berating Governor Romney and if she is single-handedly able to resurrect the Obama campaign from its downward slide…they believe that Crowley‘s planned illegal and unethical behaviors–coupled with rampant voter fraud–just might win them and their fellow Marxists another 4 years! If not, the media will simply continue to threaten Republicans with the ACLU–who will do anything for Marxists and a few big $$bucks.

Deceit and lies are the tactics of the Obama Game and the media has been in his camp since he first announced his candidacy. They still are. Mitt Romney will have to have his A+++ game at Debate 2, as Crowley will talk over anything he has to say and begin her confrontation towards him early on. Who knows? Obama may develop a Bidenesque toothy manic smile, smirk and call Romney a liar (despite all documented evidence to the contrary) while he is trying to field another pointed Crowley false charge. Then, of course, Crowley will turn and ask Obama “Would you like a pillow, Mr. President?”

“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin”

The Intensive TSA Groping of Dana Loesch, Again

Take just a scoop of what happened to Lara Logan in Egypt and you have what happens to people every day, at airports.

Dana Loesch was the subject and husband, Chris Loesch videoed, yesterday. Their report on the YouTube page is shown below the video here, as well.

Video, “TSA Tyranny: #Ladyparts Petting

Published on Oct 14, 2012 by

On the afternoon of October 14th, 2012, TSA agents in terminal four at the Phoenix Airport forced me into a private room where their “enhanced screening” included pressing down repeatedly upon the front of my vaginal area.

It began after I was “randomly selected” for an additional screening which consisted of swabbing my hands with paper strips. The strips were then taken to a machine for analysis and an alarm sounded. TSA agents determined that I had a suspicious, possibly explosive, residue on my hands and required another, “enhanced screening.”

Read here why these tests are unreliable:

I was, of course, aggravated, as we arrived two hours early and already 15 minutes had gone by due to the amount of time I had to wait on agents and the swab. During this time an elderly gentleman behind me and in front of my husband was forced to stand (despite having to use a cane and being unable to do so well alone) and not permitted to lean on anything or given a wheelchair, despite my husband requesting one.

The agents finally gathered my belongings and led me away from the populated security lines to a more secluded area near the private rooms. I asked twice for a public screening and was denied.

They performed the regular pat-down and then the agent informed me that she would be using the front of her hands to “sweep” my groin. She pressed and swept across my crotch three times horizontally and three times vertically. In any other circumstance this would be sexual assault.

The agents themselves were friendly and smiled, yet I was still denied a public screening and no witness of my own present for the screening itself (a second agent was in the room at the time). I had no reason to be angry with the agents themselves, yet I was angry, and still am, at the regulations which require them to routinely violate men, women, and children in the name of a false sense of security.

Read about my similar experience with Providence, RI’s TSA here:

After concluding that I wasn’t a terrorist hiding weapons in my vagina, the TSA agents allowed me to go. They also gave me information about pre-check, which they said would help me avoid such procedures.

Unfortunately, pre-check isn’t available in all airports and innocent Americans shouldn’t be subjected to a full FBI check simply to board a plane. Also, I doubt we would pass the test considering Janet Napolitano put conservatives like me (and many others) on the DHS domestic terror watch list back in April 2009:

They also did it to our vets:

The above is video of what happened this afternoon, filmed by my husband. He filmed it vertically so as to avoid detection. They forced me to stop filming, against their own rules (I wasn’t impeding the procedure and was not near monitors) last time.

Vote liberty.

Regulations require same-sex TSA groping. So what? Does the Obama administration not also give specific attention to the hiring of homosexuals, as has recently been seen as a sidelight of the Benghazi tragedy and scandal? We very highly doubt homosexuals are screened out of that job. So is it better to be groped by a same-sex homosexual, or by a stranger who may be, than by someone of the opposite sex? Mrs. Loesch is a quite attractive woman who happens to have a high batting average for receiving the vaginal feeley-feel. Huh.

I suggest the following:

Gulag Bound needs to follow-up the “Underwear Bomber” story. I would hope to interview the witnesses not long after November 6, or get their validation of a prior and exhaustive interview, if one has been done.
