Black First, Then American

Retired General Colin Powell raised the specter in the media, unintentionally or otherwise, that when it comes to voting — skin color matters. It is no surprise that Powell supports President Barack Obama since he did so in the 2008 election. What is surprising is that the General can lend his support to a Commander-in-Chief who refuses to identify the enemy. With Obama reluctant to publicly admit it, Powell knows that Iran funds radical Islam’s war on the West and that Al- Qaeda is reconstituted and represents a rapidly rising danger throughout the Middle East.

Incomprehensible, however, is that any General could support a President who did not answer the call for back-up from Navy Seals under fire in Benghazi. Fighting for eight long hours, they waited for their Commander-in-Chief to send support. None came. Expecting back-up, the Seals radioed that they had laser-targeted the enemy. Aerial gunships had clear targets in order to avoid collateral damage to citizens. Though the President and his top security advisors reportedly watched the battle live — in real time as those pleas continued for eight long hours, no one came. Barack Obama had both the time and the military assets to rescue those valiant warriors, but did not. Our troops risk lives to defend the American way; giving General Powell the right to vote for anyone he chooses. In regard to Bengazi, most Americans would have made a different call.

A Liberal Democrat in a televised interview attempted to get political mileage out of Powell’s endorsement by stating that Colin Powel is “one of the most admired men in America.” Whites are included in that assessment of Powell. Yet, on the other hand, Whites are supposedly racists if they are anti-Obama — so claims the Democrat-Left. Last checked, both men are Black. A White majority ensured that both men rose to two of the highest positions in the land. No racism there. Though they desperately try, race-baiting Democrats can’t have it both ways.

There are patriots who are Americans first, then Black. Some remain quiet whether in the workplace or at large family gatherings. They know that all Americans have suffered under the Obama administration; none more than friends in the Black community. Others have long voiced their opposition to the despotic ideology that dominates the Obama administration. Among them are the great American Economist Thomas Sowell, Libertarian Educator Walter Williams, prolific writer Star Parker and the fearless and popular broadcaster Larry Elder. All of whom stand as Americans first, then Black.

On the topic of terrorism, in his column in RealClearPolitics, Thomas Sowell writes: “In Barack Obama’s case, the potential for catastrophe is international in scope, and perhaps irretrievable in its consequences, as he stalls with feckless gestures while terrorist-sponsoring Iran moves toward the production of nuclear bombs.”

In his website column, Walter Williams highlights issues in regard to race: “Last year, in reference to President Obama’s failed employment policies and high unemployment among blacks, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO), who is chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, said, ‘If Bill Clinton had been in the White House and had failed to address this problem, we probably would be marching on the White House.'” That’s a vision that seems to explain black tolerance for failed politicians — namely, if it’s a black politician whose policies are ineffectual and possibly harmful to the masses of the black community, it’s tolerable, but it’s entirely unacceptable if the politician is white.”

Star Parker, columnist and business owner, describes how she escaped the welfare system and came to understand that government dependence is a life of desperation. Parker appears in the UrbanCure.org YouTube Video: “STAR PARKER CRITIQUES OBAMA.”


There are those, with less recognition who tirelessly carry their messages in an effort to save a nation and its people. One of them is Bishop E. W. Jackson who says that, “It is not about party, but principle. It is not about race, but righteousness.” Bishop Jackson states his case in his YouTube Video.

Another who steps forward to spotlight the fraud of an administration that tramples on Blacks and the American taxpayer is Eddie Slaughter. Slaughter represents a group of Black farmers who are endorsing a Republican in Georgia’s 2nd District. The group grew frustrated, then irate when Democrat and Congressional Black Caucus member Sanford Bishop reportedly ignored their complaints about government fraud in regard to payments made as a result of the Pigford Black Farmers class action lawsuit (Pigford V. Glickman). The final verdict rewarded minority and women farmers who were denied loans based on bias. The Obama government began distributing settlements of a reported $50,000 each to tens of thousands of people who reportedly never farmed, but submitted fraudulent claims. Breitbart News reported that Bishop warned the farmers to stop complaining about the fraud or they would “shut this thing down.” In the following YouTube Video Slaughter explains how the Obama administration has punished Black farmers and levied harsh financial penalties through the IRS as a result of their lawsuit.

Then there is Lloyd Marcus, a tireless campaigner who seeks a better America for all of God’s people. Lloyd Marcus describes himself as an “Unhyphenated American” and “Proud Black Conservative.” He cites that his personal story of triumph serves as a reminder of what a great nation we live in. Marcus tells his story on YouTube Video about socialist programs and their impact on his community as a young boy in the projects and the triumph of his father’s conservative values that shaped him into the man he is today.

The race card cannot be played with these Americans who are “Americans first.” The reason it is called race-baiting is because it is a trap. God bless. Vote wisely.

A Cooling Down Period

Early last July, I wrote an open letter to anyone involved in the locksmith industry and followed that up by sending a copy of the letter to the Department of Public Safety/Private Security Bureau (DPS/PSB). It was sent certified mail, so I’d have a signature proving they’d received it; which they signed for on July 13th, a full 10 days to read my letter and plenty of time before the quarterly meeting on the 23rd of July.

I wanted the DPS/PSB board to address my concerns regarding journeymen locksmiths being required to take basic remedial courses to obtain the mandated State Continuing Education hours to secure their licensing requirements. According to a letter I got back, a letter dated July 29th, the board didn’t get a chance to review that letter in time for the July 23rd meeting. John E. Chism, Presiding Officer, Texas Private Security Board, claimed they couldn’t act; but let me quote directly from his letter:

“I will furnish copies of your letter to the two locksmith associations that attended this meeting for their information. In order for the Private Security Board to consider changes to Board Rules concerning licensing fees, continuing education, or any other Board Rule, the proposed changes must appear on the Board Agenda. Any proposed Board Rule changes must be discussed publically with input from the regulated industries and the citizens of the State of Texas.”

I started to write my thoughts down immediately after receiving this artfully crafted line of crap; but remembered some advice from long ago, “Take a deep breath and cool off before you say something you’ll regret later.” While that’s good advice, and certainly worth following; it doesn’t fit my personality most of the time. I like to jump right in with both feet securely in my mouth. (I was once suspended from the Houston Police Department for 40 days, insubordination; but that’s a whole other story.)

So here I am, several months later writing down my thoughts on why the DPS/PSB should stay out of the free market system. I don’t think I’ve cooled off enough; but here goes…

Mr. Chisum mentioned he’d given a copy of my original letter/proposal to two locksmith associations; but I’d already sent them copies well in advance of the July 23rd Quarterly meeting. My suggestions were ignored; gee I wonder why?

The two locksmith associations mentioned in Mr. Chisum’s letter are the Texas Locksmith Association (TLA) and the Greater Houston Locksmith Association (GHLA).

The TLA established the original locksmith industry legislative package and sent it off to Austin. Legislation which mandated locksmith licenses in order to protect the public from unscrupulous fly by night operators. The package sent to Austin was not the same legislation which locksmiths had been shown and worked on; instead it was a package which the Alarm Industry had suggested in order to regulate locksmiths, a long standing economic feud which the Alarm Industry eventually won; not exactly water under the bridge.

I happen to be a member of GHLA and find it interesting they are listed as one of the few recognized official schools which locksmiths may attend to obtain State mandated Continuing Education hours in order to remain licensed. Remarkable that GHLA wouldn’t propose a rules change that would affect a cash cow like mandated Continuing Education, even for journeyman locksmiths who could easily teach courses in basic locksmith work. Don’t hold your breath waiting for this topic to come up in front of the DPS/PSB.

I found a copy of Ronald Reagan’s speech, A Time for Choosing, given while he was supporting Barry Goldwater’s bid for the presidency. Reagan expressed the principles of self governance clearly and succinctly; a reminder and a warning that is timeless.

“This idea — that government was beholden to the people, that it had no other source of power — is still the newest, most unique idea in all the long history of man’s relation to man. This is the issue of this election: Whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American Revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capital can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves.

You and I are told we must choose between a left or right, but I suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only an up or down. Up to man’s age-old dream — the maximum of individual freedom consistent with order — or down to the ant heap of totalitarianism. Regardless of their sincerity, their humanitarian motives, those who would sacrifice freedom for security have embarked on this downward path. Plutarch warned, “The real destroyer of the liberties of the people is he who spreads among them bounties, donations and benefits.”

The Founding Fathers knew a government can’t control the economy without controlling people. And they knew when a government sets out to do that, it must use force and coercion to achieve its purpose. So we have come to a time for choosing.”

Those serving on the DPS/PSB board have little or no understanding of the American concept of a nation ruled by self governance. God given rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are just words on a piece of paper waiting to be sorted out and issued to the people via some sort of mandated entitlement which must first be earned by jumping over fences, through hoops and landing on the indicated mark as set down in a manual created to provide a safety net for the uninformed, easily fooled public.

The DPS/PSB board needs no permission to alter their own arbitrarily mandated rules; they write them with or without the consent of the governed.

My dad used to tell a joke which ended with the line, “…and that goes for the horse you came in on.” Some folks might think I wasn’t joking, so I won’t include that line while addressing the DPS/PSB. I wonder what the time frame is for a cooling off period.

Canada’s Organic Certification System is an Emperor with No Clothes

Dr. Patrick Moore and Mischa Popoff expose the organic industry in Canada in an in-depth report written for The Frontier Centre for Public Policy.

If you thought you could trust the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) to oversee the $2.8-billion organic industry, think again.

  • The CFIA took over regulation of the organic sector in 2009 but failed to include testing
  • Organic goods are certified for sale in Canada based only on paperwork
  • The CFIA lacks any meaningful definition of organic
  • This makes Canada susceptible to unscrupulous foreign importers of phony organic goods

With no tests being performed to ensure prohibited substances are not being used on goods sold in Canada as CFIA-certified-organic, the majority of sales turn out to be imports from countries like China, Mexico and Brazil.

And, as Moore and Popoff reveal, staff at the CFIA did some behind-the-scenes tests on organic foods that the CFIA had certified, and were so taken aback that they tried to suppress the results!

Popoff has a standing offer to debate anyone, anywhere, anytime on this topic. A lot of people are being duped, and honest Canadian farmers are among them. But so far, no one from the Canadian organic sector has taken Popoff up on the offer.
