Washington Whispers

From: Blasted Fools

Full disclosure – I picked this whispering picture because the girls are cute and no other reason.

We’re pretty familiar with the visible players in the Comprehensive Immigration Reform (Amnesty) scam. There’s the Democrat Party, Barack Obama, Labor Unions, the ‘Gang of Eight’, the usual useful idiots that pose as conservatives – Bob Barnes, Hugh Hewitt, Grover Norquist, the Cato Institute, the United States Chamber of Commerce and so forth.

But there’s a relatively invisible force operating off the radar screen that is putting intense pressure on lawmakers concerning specific aspects of S744 – the so-called, ‘Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act’. These policy advocates largely hail from the executive offices of America’s largest corporations. With the help of Numbers USA, a group that has been in the forefront in fighting against amnesty and increased immigration – I am going to detail for you the identity of some of these secret conspirators (oh, there’s that word) and what they are telling each other in whisper mode.

A secret meeting took place at the Washington Marriott Convention Hotel in Dupont Circle, where a coalition of big-business oriented, pro-Open Borders dedicated groups, corporations, and lobbyists gathered to discuss strategy on how to persuade and coerce if necessary, lawmakers on both sides of the Hill to pass Comprehensive Immigration Reform. First, I should mention that the quotes I’m reprinting here only saw the light of day as a result of a defector taking notes at the meeting in question. The individual was a lobbying industry attorney, so for obvious reasons Numbers USA is protecting that source.

This is incredible stuff, but not particularly shocking when you consider the end game and desired outcome of this immigration bill. To boil it down to its essentials, it is a grand bargain between the two political parties and their largest campaign donors. Democrats get the legalized voters and add to the numbers of the social welfare recipient class. Big business gets the next wave of low skilled illegals that cross the border in the wake of the Green card giveaway and the Senators in the GOP camp get Golden Parachutes in the form of lucrative lobbying jobs when they retire or we retire them. You know what you get out of this deal? In Yiddish, they call it getting ‘shtupped’. Don’t ask me for the definition of that.

This meeting was called the “Storming the Hill National Summit”. The host for this infamous event was Ms. Tamar Jacoby, formerly a fellow of the Manhattan Institute, now with the New America Foundation and the President of ‘ImmigrationWorksUSA. Ms. Jacoby is thought of as a reliable asset in circles that include the Council on Foreign Relations, if that rings any bells. The New America Foundation, I have no particular issue with, as it seems to promote a range of independent thinking.

ImmigrationWorksUSA, however, is another story. ImmigrationWorksUSA is the combine in Washington that serves as a mouthpiece for the aims and designs of corporations that want to leverage public policy to maintain access to cheap imported labor, no matter the cost to you, the taxpayer. Ms. Jacoby sets the agenda of the conference thusly:

“We are having the conference because we failed last time [to pass amnesty in 2007] and we must change. We did none of the things the opposition did. Opponents sent over a million faxes. We need to learn to leverage grass roots power. The basic goal is to promote the free flow of labor into the USA.”

The ‘opposition’ she refers to, consists principally of two organizations – NumbersUSA and FAIR (Federation for American Immigration Reform). Other participants refer also to the Center for Immigration Studies, (CIS), which compiles facts and data points on the impact of illegal immigration. I plan to profile each of them in a future post.

It’s no coincidence that the conference was held at the Marriott. Marriott Hotels are a national employer of undocumented workers. One of the speakers, Deborah Marriott Harrison has a skin in the game to promote a further influx of cheap labor. Marshall Fitz, an attorney with the American Immigration Lawyer’s Association, provided us insight into their psychology for manipulating public opinion:

“Making undocumenteds legal taxpayers wins with Americans, 71% to 30%. We tested the American electorate and what irritated them is that illegals don’t pay taxes. So we adjusted the message. Since Nov 2008 the support for CIR has increased by 8 or 9 %.”

The tax angle is clearly a ruse. Illegal immigrants are not in the tax paying brackets. They are in the tax consuming brackets – in other words, they are eligible, based on their income, to receive credits. There is no factual basis to the notion that we’ll ever see a penny’s worth of taxes from these workers. Next is Craig Regelbrugge, American Nursery and Landscape Association Government Affairs Director. Regelbrugge laments:

“The contacts to most (Congressional) offices are staggeringly in favor of anti-immigration. We want to build a communication apparatus to balance out the anti-immigrants. Our side will never have the passion level. NumbersUSA has had twenty years to organize.”

Also in attendance was a member of the board of CKE, Inc., better known to you as Carl’s Jr. in the Western states and elsewhere in the country as Hardee’s Restaurants – a combined national fast-food chain. Jason LeVecke, Grandson of Carl’s Jr. founder Carl Karcher spoke at length. Our mole summed up his comments in her notes:

“We forget that these workers are also consumers.” Talks about sanctuary cities being good. Argues that most are paid above the minimum wage, often Union wages, plus are paying taxes. Mentions privacy issues as reason to not check IDs—not the kind of America we want. “If we do this right, we can eliminate poverty in 20 years.”

‘Union wages’ – my this is interesting. No wonder the AFL/CIO feels it has a dog in the fight for this immigration bill – a number of their ranks have stolen someone else’s identity in order to work and affliate themselves with the union! I thought these were all jobs American’s wouldn’t do. Americans won’t do union jobs? Someone’s lying here. More notes from our informant:

Texas Cattle Association representative in audience — convinced that illegals do pay taxes — but must be able to convince Senator John Cornyn [R-TX]. Thinks that the tools and statistics do not overcome the perception that illegals and immigrants do not pay taxes.

Simon Rosenberg of the left-leaning think tank, New Democratic Network. “Passing CIR will help Democrats lock in the Hispanic vote.” Joe Sigg, Arizona Farm Bureau. “We need new 500,000 unskilled workers each year. 70 to 80% of the workers are undocumented.”

Ali Noorani, National Immigration Reform:

“20% are with us, 60 % are undecided or inactive, and 20% are against us. We need to work on those 60%. We will handle the 20% against by marginalizing them. CIS and NumbersUSA are funded by racists—so we constantly make them deal with that question, that they are funded by racists. Now the 60% we need to convince that CIR is in their best interests.”

A couple of attention grabbers here in the above notes. ”CIS and NumbersUSA are funded by racists”. I actually happen to be a contributor to NumbersUSA. Where does he get this information? The answer is that it is baseless and a reprehensible slur. But anyone who questions the sense of laying out the red carpet for illegals and giving a free pass to the companies that employ them is a ‘racist’, don’t you see? Then Mr. Sigg, of the Arizona Farm Bureau ‘needs’ 400,000 illegals because legal labor is too expensive.

That’s the bottom line of all of this from the standpoint of corporate America. The emerging reality on a lot of fronts is that Big business and Corporate America, broadly speaking, are not your allies and haven’t been in quite some time. They don’t share your ideals for Free Enterprise Capitalism and they don’t care about our culture, our freedoms, our national sovereignty or American values.

Your interests as a taxpayer and a citizen are not one and the same with the United States Chamber of Commerce. CEO Andrew Puzder of Carl’s Jr. / Hardee’s, will gladly sell you a hamburger combo then take your money and lobby Congress to gift citizenship to the invading force of illegal migrants. Incidentally, if you would like to let him know that you’re no longer going to be spending money at his fast food restaurant and why – you can email him at [email protected].

For these people profits are number 1 and the most they will do for America is put a flag outside their building. My point in writing this is not particularly to simply educate you about the forces arrayed against you and the America that past generations fought and sacrificed for. It is to motivate you to let them hear you in Washington D.C. Make a phone call, visit a Congressional office, send an email, a tweet – post on Facebook and let your friends know what is at stake. If we’re going to stop this train wreck, it is up to you and me.

Silence is complicity.

Our Last Stand for Freedom Is This Wednesday

Hat Tip: BB
By: Sara Noble
The Independent Sentinel

cartoon via CosnervativeDailyNews.com

I am not a member of the Tea Party, but I must support them and the rally they have planned for this Wednesday, June 19th at the Capitol.

It was originally supposed to be only an Audit the IRS rally. It is so much more than that now. We must now stand up for all our freedoms!

It is a last stand!

Mark Levin has pleaded for people to show up.

One of the issues is the immigration bill which is being passed off as a Conservative bill in the ads on Fox News and Talk Radio. Mark Zuckerberg, a liberal, is paying for the ads. They are an attempt to convince Conservatives to not oppose the bill.

If you search this site you will see a number of articles on this bill, which is anything but Conservative.

The bill puts amnesty before border security. If in five years the border isn’t secure, then a new government oversight agency will be formed to look into it.

The bill sets up chain migration and there are exemptions to every fee, to citizenship, and so on.

Illegal immigrants will be called “New Americans.” They will receive “legal” status within six months. They will be eligible for Obamacare and no one is going to deprive them of welfare or earned income tax credits despite what you have heard.

Can we afford this?

We are losing our economic freedom.

Our government is monitoring our Internet communications and spying on us. Government agencies are targeting everyday Americans. George Orwell was right!

This is the Brave New World unless we say enough.

Our Constitution and our Bill of Rights are being eroded and if we won’t stand and fight now we might never have a chance again.

Louie Gohmert, Rand Paul, Mike Lee, and Ted Cruz among others have asked for our help. They want us to show up in DC on Wednesday.

Please consider taking the day off and heading for DC. There are buses leaving from almost every location.

Show DC that we stand for liberty and for the Constitution!

You don’t have to be a Tea Party member or a Conservative, or a Republican to go and stand with the Patriots at this rally. This is a rally for individual freedom.

We are losing our country.

It’s A Family Affair

From: Blasted Fools

The typical ‘immigrant’ family, this ain’t.

Barbara Bush shocked listeners when she made her now famous comment to Matt Lauer on the Today show regarding the prospects of another Bush in the White House that, “There are other people out there that are very qualified and we’ve had enough Bushes.”

A speech given recently by former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, underlined the foolishness of even considering such a possibility. At the Faith and Freedom Coalition conference in Washington D.C., the Jebster flatulated:

“Immigrants create far more businesses than native-born Americans,” Bush said. “Immigrants are more fertile, and they love families, and they have more intact families, and they bring a younger population. Immigrants create an engine of economic prosperity.”

Bush doesn’t specifically identify which ethnicity or racial origin of immigrants he is referring to here, so we’re forced to read between the lines and assume that he means Hispanics. This would make the most sense, because the Bush family is prone to conflate the generic category of immigrants (legal or otherwise) with Hispanics, due to their presence within the Bush clan – Jeb’s wife is from Mexico.

Jeb dredges up a thread bare narrative that is part of the stock in trade of open borders leaning political writers and journalists – that of the ‘family values and family ethics of Hispanics’. It’s actually one of the three basic conventional motifs upon which arguments for more Latino immigration is based. As those who have followed the musings of the Bush family are aware – the ‘Latinos are worthy immigrants’ theme is shared by both brothers.

Pedro Celis, Washington state chairman of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly says,

“President Bush shares with the Hispanic community a strong sense of family values.” During the 2000 campaign, Mr. Bush announced that “family values don’t stop at the Rio Grande River.” Two years later, promoting amnesty for Mexican illegals whose relatives are here legally, Mr. Bush said, “I want to show our friends, the Mexicans, that we are compassionate … We believe in family values.”

So – what about Hispanic / Latino ‘Family Values’? He is obviously stating that immigrants (read Latinos) are superior in their family traits than American families. Are they as advertised or is Jeb Bush still in the I.Q. hunt, running neck and neck with a sack of nails? Or does he know differently and he is simply lying because he assumes we’re all gullible as the day is long?

Heather MacDonald, in the August 2006 edition of City Journal notes:

“Hispanic women have the highest unmarried birthrate in the country—over three times that of whites and Asians, and nearly one and a half times that of black women, according to the Centers for Disease Control. Every 1,000 unmarried Hispanic women bore 92 children in 2003 (the latest year for which data exist), compared with 28 children for every 1,000 unmarried white women, 22 for every 1,000 unmarried Asian women, and 66 for every 1,000 unmarried black women. Forty-five percent of all Hispanic births occur outside of marriage, compared with 24 percent of white births and 15 percent of Asian births. Only the percentage of black out-of-wedlock births—68 percent—exceeds the Hispanic rate. But the black population is not going to triple over the next few decades.”

Teen Pregnancy Rates: Approximately 70.4 Latina teens became pregnant out of every 1,000 teenagers between ages of 15 and 17 from 1995-2004, compared to only 14.5 White teens. In New York City, 55.9% of all teen births were Latinos in 2007, more than seven times the number among White teens (7.4%).

National Percentage of births to mothers under 18:

Mexican 6.2

Puerto Rican 7.4

Cuban 2.7

Central / South American 3.1

Other / unknown Hispanic 6.8

White 2.3

Black 7.3

Percentage female householder, no spouse present:

Mexican 21.1

Puerto Rican 35.8

Cuban 18.3

Central / South American 24.6

Other / unknown Hispanic 27.4

White 13.9

Black 45.1

Juvenile Justice and the Hispanic family?

Admissions to Juvenile Facilities: 28% of youth admitted to New York City juvenile facilities in 2010 were Latinos, while Whites constituted only 4%. In New York State, 26.2% of the 1,632 youth admitted were Latino (428) in 2008, while only 9.6% were White (157).

Child Welfare?

Foster Care Placements: 28.7% of the children in foster care were Latino in New York City in 2008 compared to 4.1% White. In New York State, 20.5% children placed in foster care in 2008 were Latino compared to 18.5% White. (These statistics were compiled by the Committee for Hispanic Children and Families.)

Sexually Transmitted Diseases?

New Cases of HIV/ AIDS: In New York City, Latinos were 31.8% of persons living with HIV/AIDS in 2009, in contrast to the 20.9% that were Whites. In New York State, 30.5% (approx. 1,393) of all newly reported cases of HIV/AIDS in 2009 were Latinos, while White represented 19% of the total of new cases.

Racial Crime?

A study of federal crime statistics by the New Century Foundation (2005) showed that:

  • Hispanics commit violent crimes at roughly three times the white rate.
  • Hispanics are 19 times more likely than whites to be members of youth gangs.
  • Hispanics are three times more likely to be incarcerated than Whites.

Lawrence Auster writes:

‘The claim that Hispanics have more cohesive and responsible families than white Americans turns out to be largely a myth. The truth emerged in an exchange a decade ago between the neoconservative scholar Francis Fukuyama and Michael Lind, who by then had become an immigration critic. Fukuyama had written an article for Commentary in which he celebrated Hispanic family values as a boon to America and urged continued non-European immigration.” Lind wrote in response:

“Hispanic immigrants, even in the second and third generation, are significantly more likely than white Americans (and East Asian immigrants) to drop out of school, go on welfare, and end up in jail, nowithstanding their (exaggerated) greater “family values” and the (equally exaggerated) moral rot “right in the heart of American’s well-established white, Anglo-Saxon community.”

The American value of education is in wide measure, not shared by Latinos. As an example of the national problem of youths dropping out of high school – a dropout rate of 47%, consider San Diego schools as representative. Vince Vasquez in San Diego Source, notes:

Where trends appear especially bleak is the drop out rate among Latino teens. Though they make up less than half of all students in San Diego County public schools (44 percent), Latinos composed more than half (56 percent) of all county dropouts in 2007-08, a rate which increased from the previous school year.

Is child abuse an admirable Latino family trait? Administrative data from Texas find that the share of Latin American immigrant children who had to be placed in protective custody because of sexual abuse committed against them was three times as high as the share of non-immigrants.

Substantiated Cases of Child Abuse and Neglect, by Race/Ethnicity: 2012 – California / Rate per 1,000:

African American/ Black 22.7

American Indian/Alaska Native 21.9

Asian / Pacific Islander 2.6

Latino / 9.2

White / 8.0

39.8% of substantiated abuse reports in New York City were Latino children in 2008, while 6.4% were White children. In 2008, Latino children comprised 24.2% of these reports in New York State.

How about Sexual assaults on male Latino children?

The Center for AIDS Prevention Studies, University of California, San Francisco concluded that Latino men are twice as likely to report a history of childhood sexual abuse than are non-Latino men. Given the association between childhood sexual abuse and increased risk for HIV and other negative health outcomes, health providers must remain vigilant to the possibility of childhood sexual abuse histories among their Latino patients.

How about domestic violence?

Raul Caetano and Craig Field of the University of Texas’s School of Public Health found that Hispanic (and black) couples exhibited three times the frequency of male-on-female violence and twice the frequency of female-on-male violence than did white couples. [Longitudinal model predicting mutual partner violence among White, Black, and Hispanic couples in the United States general population. Violence and victims 2005;20(5):499-511.]

In a separate study, Dr. Caetano, John Schafer of the University of Cincinnati and Carol Cunradi of the Prevention Research Center at Berkeley, California found that Black, Hispanic, and White couples reported violent incidents within the previous 12 months at respective levels of 23 percent, 17 percent and 11.5 percent. [Alcohol-Related Intimate Partner Violence among White, Black, and Hispanic Couples in the United States.]

In 2005, the University of South Carolina’s College of Nursing released the results of a survey of more than 300 Hispanic women across South Carolina. Fully 70 percent of the respondents had experienced domestic abuse during the previous year.

Tena Hunt, one of the study’s principal investigators, admitted that around 95 percent of the women surveyed were “undocumented” (PC-speak for illegal).

I’d ask Jeb if we really want to import more Hispanic family values with respect to spouse battery.

How about Elder abuse as a desirable family trait? According to a new study published in the Journal of the American Geriatric Society, there are high rates of elder abuse in the Latino community, but it goes largely unreported. The study found that 40% of the Latino seniors studied had been abused in the past year, but fewer than 2% reported abuse to the authorities.

Then there’s the uncomfortable truth that contrasted with their numbers in the population, Latinos account for a drastically inordinate number of fatalities on our roads and highways due to Driving While Intoxicated. This is a well established cultural trait brought by Latino immigrants to this country. National Public Radio reported:

The influx of Hispanic immigrants to some parts of the U.S. has led to a problem on the highways. In many states, Hispanics account for a disproportionate number of drunk driving deaths. In North Carolina where the Latino population has grown by more than a third in this decade, alcohol-related crashes have become a leading killer of Latinos. And as NPR’s Adam Hochberg reports, community groups are trying to reverse that trend.

Nationwide, Latinos rank second only to Native Americans and their alcohol death rate on the highway. The extent of the problem varies from state to state, but community leaders say it seems worse in places where Latinos have newly immigrated. At Al Pueblo, a Hispanic advocacy group in North Carolina, safety director Tony Ascion(ph) says Latino drunk drivers tend to be young men in the U.S. without their families, people who have a lot of free time and a lot of what Ascion calls, machismo.”

Further, police records show arrest rates for drunkenness of 138 and 38 (per 100,000 population) among Hispanic and non-Hispanic youth, respectively (Maddahian, Newcomb, and Bentler, 1985). Such rates likely affect the greater concern expressed by Hispanic respondents, relative to non-Hispanic respondents, that teenage drinking is a major societal problem.

Let me be clear about the purpose behind this post and the data points I’ve placed in it. The purpose was not an anti-Latino screed. I do not look at people as statistics, I look at them as individuals. I don’t believe in ‘White Supremacy’, nor do I support Racial Identity Politics. I believe in the Melting Pot and real diversity, not the White liberal / progressive guilt ridden concept of diversity that threatens to divide Americans, not unite them. But, since Jeb Bush introduced a logical and a factual fallacy in his speech – one that we’ve heard repeated far too often, I had no choice but to offer objective statistics as a rejoinder.

Jeb Bush is either knowingly perpetrating a lie about the favorable and preferred characteristics of Latino families or he is frighteningly ignorant of the facts. Either one, it seems to me, disqualifies him from any consideration as presidential material. Barbara Bush is right.

Whatever justifications the GOP establishment, Corporate Capitalists and the Democrat Party have, to incent another influx of illegal immigrants from Mexico and Central America – superior family characteristics and virtues, is demonstrably not among them.

Socialism Through Immigration: Leading Marxist Immigration Activist Admits it’s All About the Votes!

By: Trevor Loudon
New Zeal

On the eve of the immigration debate, the video below really needs to go viral.

Eliseo Medina speaking on "immigration reform"

Eliseo Medina speaking on “immigration reform”

One of the US’ top “immigrant’s rights” activists, labor leader and Democratic Socialists of America Marxist, Eliseo Medina, admits that illegal immigrant amnesty has nothing to do with compassion or economics – it’s all about permanent political power for the left.

Medina sees illegal immigrant amnesty and voting rights as the beginnings of a “governing coalition for the long term.”

At the “progressive” America’s Future Now! conference in Washington, D.C. on June 2, 2009, SEIU International Executive Vice President Eliseo Medina addressed attendees on the necessity of comprehensive immigration reform.

Speaking of Latino voters, Medina said “when they voted in November, they voted overwhelmingly for progressive candidates. Barack Obama got two out of every three voters that showed up.”

So I think there’s two things that matter for the progressive community. Number one, if we are to expand this electorate to win, the progressive community needs to solidly be on the side of immigrants, that we’ll expand and solidify the progressive coalition for the future… When you are in the middle of a fight for your life you will remember who was there with you. And immigrants count on progressives to be able to do that. Number two. “We reform the immigration laws, it puts 12 million people on the path to citizenship and eventually voters”. Can you imagine if we have, even the same ratio, two out of three? If we have eight million new voters who care about …… and will be voting. We will be creating a governing coalition for the long term, not just for an election cycle…

If illegal immigrants are given voting rights, there will probably never be another Republican (or conservative president) in America again.

The Democrats and their Marxist masters in the labor unions will become America’s permanent ruling class.

Every GOP legislator needs to see this video before they cast a vote on “immigration reform.”
