Will the European Union reindex stock markets to 100 points?

The introduction of the euro brought the citizens of Europe many advantages, including uniformity. It would be nice if that uniformity also applied to the comparison of the various stock exchanges. An index point is not a fixed unit in time and does not have any historical significance, so the European citizen may therefore not attach any significance for the future. Comparing index points to their history and also comparing the various stock exchanges makes no sense. The time is ripe to reindex European stock exchanges to 100 points.

Reindexing to 100 points has many advantages

After the introduction of a single currency for Europeans, it is important that the EU also creates uniformity in the stock exchanges. Because a stock market index has no relevant future value, the time is ripe to re-index stock markets to 100 points. The re-indexing of the stock exchanges to 100 points can be easily implemented.

For each stock market index, a so-called DIVISOR100-value is introduced.

The value of each DIVISOR100 is determined by the number of index points from the final position of a stock market at a certain date, eg. December 31, 2013 divided by 100. On December 31, 2013 the AEX ended at 401.79 and thus AEX_DIVISOR100 gets the value 4.0179 (401.79 divided by 100). The DAX ended December 31, 2013 at 9552.16 and thus DAX_DIVISOR100 gets the value 95.5216 (9552.16 divided by 100).

Dividing the number of points of each stock market by the DIVISOR100-value, the stock market is reindexed at 100 points. The AEX ended on December 31, 2013 at 401.79, and the number of points for the AEX is now divided by 4.0179, the value of the AEX_DIVISOR100. The DAX ended December 31, 2013 at 9552.16 and the number of points on the DAX is now divided by 95.5216, the value of the DAX_DIVISOR100. To this the indexes of these stock exchanges on reindex-date January 1, 2014 are at 100 points.
The advantage of this method of re-indexing is that each stock market retains its own characteristic properties, such as composition and calculation and that the history of the market chart also is retained. The technical analyst can still continue to apply the same methods to the stock market graph and recognize patterns in the graph.

For the citizens of Europe the stock markets are much more transparent with this reindexing.

Transition and costs

In order for the citizens of Europe to get used to the idea of re-indexing of the exchanges, the old index values can still be published alongside the new index values during a transition period. In due course they will only have a view for the new index values. The cost of this project for the European citizens will be nil; the formulas that calculates market indices are already changed several times annually.

Light the Lights

Tonight we light the first light in the eight day Festival of Chanukah. A time for joy and hope.

Actually, there are two stories of Chanukah: One has to do with the miracle of the oil, which burned in the Temple for eight days although there was only enough oil for one day. In commemoration of this, we eat foods associated with oil – potato latkes (pancakes) and sufganiyot (donuts).

In truth, if we are going to talk about miracles: the existence of modern Israel is a miracle. We should be ever mindful of this, and ever grateful.

Then there is the historical Chanukah story of the Maccabees battle against the Greeks – which enabled them to regain and rededicate the Temple after it had been defiled. There are lessons here in terms of determination and bravery (for the war was very long and bitter) and dedication to our traditional practices and our faith. All very much lessons for today.

A particular determination is required right now. For these are very tough times, no matter how you cut it.

I held off posting yesterday to see what would evolve with regard to the UN Security Council and anti-Israel resolutions to be brought forward. But there is nothing definitive to report yet.

Prime Minster Netanyahu, who met with Secretary of State Kerry yesterday, seems to be holding tough. He says he will not agree to any UN coercion.

Kerry himself is waffling, and this is very unsettling. Netanyahu put on a good front before meeting with Kerry, saying that there was no reason to believe that the US would diverge from its traditional position of vetoing Security Council measures that are anti-Israel. But that is not really the case. We know what a lame duck Obama is capable of.

At a press conference today, Kerry said that the parties themselves must resolve the Arab-Israeli conflict – it cannot be done from the outside.

Nu? That means it cannot be resolved via UN attempts to force Israel to move back to the ‘67 line. No?

But in that same press conference he offered no assurances about his readiness to veto what might yet be proposed.

Of course, it is possible that the Kerry “indecision” is a tactic aimed at getting Netanyahu to cave on agreeing to negotiate. So far I have no indication that Netanyahu has agreed to anything.

One of the things I picked up today was a reference by Kerry about “the cycle of violence,” which invariably infuriates me. This is a false moral equivalency. There is no cycle of violence, only Arab terrorism and Israeli response.

The PA may bring forward a proposal this week that would require Israel to return to its situation prior to the 1967 war by February 2016; it would acknowledge eastern Jerusalem as the capital of the Palestinian state, and would make provision for the “Palestinian refugees.” There is no precise wording of this proposal available in its entirety yet.

The French are working on a different proposal that would, as I understand it, require that negotiations between Israel and the PA be completed in two years. Somewhat less horrendous than the PA version, but neither viable nor acceptable.

Please, dear readers, do not panic about any of this. It’s a long way from a PA-proposed resolution in the Security Council, which has not yet materialized, to a real shift in Israel’s situation.

Relevant to this, I believe, is the announcement by the PA that they would not be cancelling security cooperation with Israel over the death of Abi Ein, as had been threatened. A PA official now admits that they never intended to follow-through with the threats. They rely on Israel, said this official.

Hey, no surprise there. Abbas wouldn’t last a week if not for Israel’s control of Hamas in Judea and Samaria.

What we see then is that the PA leadership makes threats that it doesn’t necessarily intend to act upon. And that Israel has some leverage over the PA.

So…stay tuned.

The PA says that if its proposal does not pass in the Security Council it will go to the International Criminal Court and level charges of war crimes against Israeli leaders. This may be yet another threat. Abbas has already been warned by our leaders that this path would work two ways. In any event, there is no guarantee that the ICC would accept “a Palestinian state” as a member.

But see what one very wonderful legal warrior in Israel, Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, head of Shurat Ha-Din – the Israel Law Center, is doing: filing claims in the ICC against Abbas and Hamas leaders. She is taking the offensive and hopes to make Abbas think twice.

Let me turn here, then, to a brief update on the political circus:

Eli Yishai has made it official. He has broken with the Shas party and is forming a new party, Yahad – Together. It is being watched very closely, for it appears that it will not be just a duplicate of the haredi party, Shas, but will bring in national religious elements as well. It aims to be a party that, indeed, unifies people in their concern for religious values and political nationalism. Although it is early to make predictions, it carries genuine promise.

What we know so far is that Yoni Chetboun, who just left Habayit Hayehudi because of some deep discontents, will be joining Yishai. And now all eyes are on the relationship between Uri Ariel and Naftali Bennett. If Uriel walks out of Habyit Hayehudi with his Tekuma faction, he would very likely join Yishai.

There are very early predictions that when the dust settles this new party might bring in as much as seven mandates. Aryeh Deri, who now heads Shas, is having conniptions. But on Aryeh Deri, who is not exactly the model of an upright politician, it looks good. Apparently Yishai – who was pretty much shafted by Deri – will take a fair amount of support with him and has already received the endorsement of some significant rabbis.

Sorry Jeb, We Want Ted

As Senator Ted Cruz shrugs off the GOP establishment, some of whom actively, loudly and publicly fought against him this past weekend in his effort (along with others, notably Senators Mike Lee and Jeff Sessions) to force a vote on Obama’s disregard for immigration laws, the mainstream media again offered themselves up on the alter of Elizabeth Warren, who will likely be the presidential candidate for the ~~socialist~~ Democrat party.

In the meantime, Jeb Bush is positioning himself to run for president. The CBS affiliate in Washington reported Monday that Bush believes he would be a “good president.” The comments at the article say it all. At the time of this writing, not one positive comment was posted. Most of the comments indicate their distrust with the mainstream media and the establishment GOP.

“Here comes another presidential election where the corrupt MSM will work along with the corrupt DC establishment…” one commenter writes. Another laments, “We need a straight-talker who can out-shout the entire big media establishment and progressive influencers and speak directly to the people about rebuilding the country.” Still another asserts, “Another moderate republican? No thanks. They have done enough damage to the country along with the democrats…” This sentiment repeats itself over and over again.

It is clear that the unpopular GOP establishment is actively thwarting the efforts of those who are genuinely interested in restoring a limited government as envisioned by America’s founding fathers, despite the fact that Americans have been consistently saying that they believe government has gotten too big. In a very real way, the so-called “RINOs” are even more frightening then the ~~socialist~~ Democrat party, with their big government, nanny state promoting, race-baiting, identity politicking and social engineering ways.

At least Americans know the Democrats put party over principle.

Jeb Bush, an advocate of Common Core, who evidently met with the unpopular John McCain to strategize about how to run for President “without pandering to the party’s conservative base,” is a carbon copy of George W. Bush, who added trillions to the national debt. It should be noted that President Obama added an additional 70 percent to the national debt. President Obama once called Bush’s contribution to the national debt “unpatriotic.” President Obama voted against a raise in the debt ceiling in 2006, along with Harry Reid.

It is always infuriating when the federal government squanders tax-payer money. This unsustainable rate of spending is gross negligence and this author would say, treasonous.

Squeaker of the House, Obama Doormat and RINO extraordinaire John Boehner!!

The Noisy Room: John Boehner for betraying his conservative base and aligning himself with Obama and the Progressives on the Left. In the CRominbus bill, he gave everything and more to Obama on every Progressive issue addressed. It was a breathtaking act of treason against conservatives and the Tea Party.

I agree wholeheartedly with Sean Hannity:

“John ‘Gruber’ Boehner, two days after the midterm elections, talking tough on the issue of amnesty, but unfortunately, that’s all it was. Because today it’s conservatives who feel like they’ve been burned as the Speaker aligned himself with the president, with Harry Reid, Steny Hoyer and Joe Biden to pass a spending bill a short time ago,” Hannity said.

“John Boehner ‘Grubered’ conservatives tonight and by that, I mean, the conservative base in particular, and Michele Bachmann hit the nail on the head,” he continued. “He never would have done this before the election. He has no inspiring vision and to me, he is everything that is wrong with Washington. He is a Democratic Party-lite. He doesn’t have those bold colored differences that Reagan talked about. And he should, in my view, he should not be the Speaker and should be replaced.”

Boehner would not even speak, much less negotiate with conservatives on this and he implemented a provision that would effectively raise the amount that high net-worth donors can contribute to political party committees from $97,250 to $777,600, which was an egregious slap in the face to the Tea Party and conservatives. It basically ensures that fat cats are the only ones who can afford to run and it is a blatant attempt to shut out Tea Party candidates.

Time to go RINO hunting as Sarah Palin put it. Lock and load.

The Independent Sentinel: John Boehner is unquestionably my choice for weasel of the week, perhaps for the month, no the year. He said he would stand up to Barack Obama before the election, but the only ones he has stood up to are conservative Republicans. When it looked as if the budget wouldn’t pass, he pressured conservatives and when that didn’t work, he went to the far-left Steny Hoyer and Barack Obama to get the bill passed.

Boehner tweeted this on December 11th: “By the House’s action, we are setting up a direct challenge to the president’s unilateral actions on immigration next month…″

Horse feathers!!!

Boehner pushed through a budget that funds amnesty. The Republicans have nothing to fight with next year. We can’t defund the DHS.

They won’t fight anyway.

Any fight is always pushed off into the future with this phony.

He betrayed the people who put Republicans in control of the House and the Senate. My second runner up for weasel is Karl Rove who is pleased that we are on our way towards having a budget as if that were the end all and be all. We passed an exorbitant spending bill that funds all of Obama’s lawless actions and neither Karl Rove or John Boehner appear to care about the Constitution in all of this.

VA Right: I’m going to go with John Boehner and his lead from behind deal with Barack Obama on the Omnibus bill.

The voters made this a wave election, not to get the Republicans to work with the Democrats, but to get them to push back. Boehner gave up an entire year of leverage and opportunity. He managed to prove that Republicans are not the answer either.

Sen. Elizabeth “Stands With Fistfuls of Corporate Cash” Warren!

The Razor: My pick of the litter this week is Sen. Elizabeth “Stands With Fistfuls of Corporate Cash” Warren. As Kevin Williamson writes in this week’s National Review, Sen. Warren has become a darling of the progressive community for her attacks on Wall Street yet at the same time has taken its cash. The New York Times has supported the narrative of Warren’s opposition to the federal bailouts, writing ““The liberal base of the Democratic Party, led by Ms. Warren, also found itself in an unlikely alliance with the Tea Party wing of the Republican Party. Both opposed the Wall Street bailout of 2008 and feared that the spending measure would not only provide a bounty for big banks but would also help cause another economic crisis.” Williamson writes, “Senator Warren is an energetic proponent of corporate welfare for Boeing, General Electric Bechtel, Caterpillar, and other such poor, defenseless little mom-and-pop operations.” Williamson also references the funniest movie ever, Blazing Saddles, referring to Warren’s claim of Cherokee ancestry (she’s 3.1%) “Senator Warren is as much an authentic champion of ordinary working people as she is an authentic Cherokee princess — and Mel Brooks and those Yiddish-speaking Indians from Blazing Saddles were more convincing in that role.”

Sen. Warren is the new face of progressives in the Democratic party, meaning she’s extremely wealthy, white and old – having turned 65 last June. She’s being considered as the youthful alternative to Hillary Clinton (who turned 67 in October). But being eligible for full Social Security benefits doesn’t deter her nomination for weasel of the week, especially for one as weaselly as Warren. Weasel Warren: it has a certain ring to it..

Cowardly attack in Pakistan’s Peshawar

PESHAWAR, Pakistan — Uniformed militants attacked a school, killing at least 126 people and taking hostages on Tuesday, an official said – an atrocity condemned by the U.S. as “senseless and inhumane.”

“The gunmen entered class by class and shot some kids one by one,” a student who was in the school at the time told local media.

Provincial official Bahramand Khan said at least 126 people were killed and 122 injured. More than 100 of the dead were school children, he added. The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the assault, which appeared to be targeting the the children of senior military officials.

Bombs planted by the attackers slowed rescue efforts, a military official said, adding that operations at the scene were “closing up”.

Commandos exchanged fire with gunmen who entered the Army Public School in Peshawar. Five “heavy” explosions were heard from the school at around 5 a.m. ET. The Pakistani military later said six Taliban militants had been killed.

About 500 students and teachers were believed to be inside the site when gunfire erupted, although it was unclear how many remained inside the school.

A military source who spoke on the condition of anonymity told NBC News that the attackers were wearing police uniforms and suicide vests. “They burnt a teacher in front of the students in a classroom,” he added. “They literally set the teacher on fire with gasoline and made the kids watch.”

Some child hostages were thought to be held at gunpoint by militants in the school’s main auditorium. The military-run school has students in grades one through 10.

Mark Levin threatens to leave the GOP

On Monday’s Mark Levin Show, The Republicans had an opportunity Saturday night to stand up and vote against this Cromnibus bill, which funds Obamacare, amnesty and President Obama’s radical agenda, and they didn’t. Mark says he is one inch away from leaving the Republican Party if this keeps up and there are thousands of people who feel the same. The Constitution is in tatters and the Republican Party doesn’t even realize they’ve ceded their power to Obama. Congress goes on about an imperial president yet do nothing about it. John Boehner and Mitch McConnell should resign but their egos won’t let them. Instead, they’re cutting deals with the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid behind closed doors, pushing their agenda to the Republican establishment in Congress, and anyone that speaks out against it like Mike Lee and Ted Cruz are attacked for not going along with the party. We are sick of voting for corrupt crony Republicans who won’t do what we voted for and continue to violate their oath of office and trample the constitution. Senators Mark Lee and Ted Cruz call in and speak with Mark to talk about the gridlock in Washington. They have to fight tooth and nail to vote on anything, while bills are negotiated behind closed doors rather than on the Senate floor.

Despite the fact that We-the-People gave the Republicans a mandate to stop Obama’s unconstitutional and country-destroying dictates, policies, and programs with a landslide victory in November, the current establishment majority–still in charge of the Marxist Democrat-Lite Party (aka Republicans)–still insists upon supporting Obama.

Message to the Congressional Republican Marxists: Your cover has been blown! You can no longer effectively use the excuse of, the media will be mean to us if we don’t support the first black president!

First of all, we-the-voters are well aware of media bias in favor of the Left. It has been that way for hundreds, if not thousands, of years dating back to–probably–even ancient Babylon. There, where diversity of opposition to God and tolerance for everything caused segregation of different cultural groups that entered the huge city-state and brought with them different languages and different gods. It’s likely the “liberal” scribes of the time–human nature hasn’t really changed over millennia–thought this was just wonderful and wrote about it. As Babylon became more impressed with itself, it built huge structures to glorify its work. And, then the kings began allowing more and more non-citizens (aka “illegals?”) who brought beliefs that were counter to the survival of the once Hebraic Babylon to enter and set up shop. And Babylon did not survive.

So, yes Republicans. Any of us who was born when real history was being taught in US schools knows why we are being destroyed and that the leftist media is helping. They will always be bitter towards anyone and anything that encroaches upon their Luciferian lust for power over humans. Their nature hasn’t changed. either. It is greed, corruption and all of the other accouterments that accompany an unquenchable thirst for power and money…our money.

Obama-constrained Again, Republicans, get rid of the, they won’t like us if we try to save the country and its people excuse. Not only did Republicans and Independents vote for you but, a large number of Democrats did too. Republicans who ran for the Senate won fully 40 % of the Hispanic vote, so you rationally can’t use the, Hispanics won’t like us excuse anymore either. That is, unless you’re referring to the illegal ones coming into our country via Obama’s now fully-open southern border. The Hispanic voters told you in Congress that they don’t want illegals in the country. However, too many of you have decided to supplant our loud and clear message of “STOP Obama!” with, the voters are telling us we have to work together to push through Obama’s anti-American messages and policies. Are you people insane or just too drunk with your new-found power to care what we want?

Or–on a more sinister note–have you been Democrat Marxist and Fascists all along—aka RINOs?

If you don’t start working for us and the reestablishment of our country–as founded–recall petitions to remove you from your newly-won offices will begin in all states that allow them; for Republicans as well as Democrats. Note: Very unfortunately, Ohio–which again placed Obama-lackey John Boehner into office–doesn’t have a recall process for federal offices. But, we plan to put pressure on all of our Senators to replace Obama’s Boehner as Speaker of the House.

Obama, Eric Holder and Valerie Jarrett have used their operatives to foment one riot after another in order to begin a race war. And they have been successful in their early ventures into California, New York, and–of course–Missouri. They are also bringing at least many thousands of gang members, Islamists, Africans, Muslims in general, as well as the Hispanic poor into our country illegally. This, as we know, is being done to replace the current legal American white majority with illegals. They are continuing to decimate our country and we elected you to stoop them. What about, stop the dictator in our White House who is destroying our country, is still unclear to you in Congress?

Obama-followers-and-truth There is little doubt–if one truly observes what’s going on in the United States of America under Obama’s increasingly iron-fisted rule–that the USA is being “transformed” into something it was never intended to be…a non-country composed of multi-cultured, non-English speaking, un-or-under educated and America-hating miscreants from anti-USA countries around the world. These are “Obama’s people” and we Americans are being pushed out of our own country by the Obama syndicate’s dark and dystopian vision for us.

My own ancestors were here in the 1500s and fought in the American Revolution for the establishment of the United States of America. These great human beings vowed their wealth and all of their holdings to establish a country that was free for its citizens to own their own property, have the liberty and freedom to pursue their own dreams, and to worship God. Now, that country is being turned into a cesspool…by purposeful design brought about from a group of people bent upon destroying said freedom and liberty and raising their own flag of oppression and forced obedience to it. I predict that if this is allowed to continue, the Islamic flag will soon fly over the White House…establishing the personal prophecy Obama has set for himself. Obama was not born to build but, to destroy.

Short of a shooting civil war, we have tried everything else to rein in this despotic government. For too long, way too many of us paid little to no attention to what Obama really meant by his definition of the word “transform.“ We sat back and shook our heads while the Obama government was buying up thousands and thousands of assault rifles and billions of rounds of ammo–hollow point–to arm multiple branches of what was once our government. Against whom do you think they plan to use them? Is it time for us to move to the next level? Better think and answer quickly…we’re just about finished as a country and a people.
