Forum: Does Anything Need To Be Done To Strengthen The Second Amendment Nationally?

The Watcher’ Council

Second Amendment

Every week on Monday, the Council and our invited guests weigh in at the Watcher’s Forum with short takes on a major issue of the day, the culture or daily living. This week’s question: Does Anything Need To Be Done To Strengthen The Second Amendment Nationally?

The Daley Gator: A national CHL bill perhaps, at the least a national carry reciprocity act.

Laura Rambeau Lee, Right Reason: Let’s see – The Second Amendment states: “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” Nope, that pretty much covers our absolute inherent right to protect ourselves, our families and our property, and if need be to fight against an out of control tyrannical federal government. The simplicity of the language in asserting the rights of We the People would only be diluted by additional legislative measures. We need to make sure we elect people who understand these rights and who will faithfully follow the law established by our Founders.

Support for Trump Backfires on CPAC

By: Cliff Kincaid | Accuracy in Media

Donald J. Trump has been pouring tens of thousands of dollars into the coffers of the American Conservative Union (ACU), the sponsor of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). But the financial bribes went for nothing, as Trump cancelled his CPAC speech last Saturday amid reports that hundreds of conservatives were preparing to turn their backs and walk out on the billionaire businessman’s remarks.

The reason for the threatened walkout was apparent in the results of the CPAC straw poll, a survey of CPAC participants, showing Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) in first place with 40 percent, Senator Marco Rubio second with 30 percent, and Trump getting only 15 percent.

Trump’s massive financial investment in the ACU and its chairman, lobbyist Matt Schlapp, didn’t pay off in the end.

Idaho Pastor Brutally Shot, Critically Wounded After Praying Over Ted Cruz Rally

CDA4Residents of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho are in shock this morning as the pastor of the Altar Church remains in critical, but stable condition after being shot up to six times in the back. Pastor Tim Remington had just left a service yesterday… one day after saying the invocation over a Ted Cruz rally. Mr. Remington, an outspoken advocate for conservative and Christian causes in the Gem State, delivered a prayer for Ted Cruz at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds on Saturday with 3,000 supporters. This didn’t hit the media and no one seems to be tying it to Ted Cruz, but my mind immediately went there. If this had been Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders it would have been all over the news.

Kyle Andrew Odom, who is 30 and comes from Coeur d’Alene, is now the suspect in this case. He fled after shooting the pastor and is considered armed and dangerous. Odom was a Marine – one of his shots hit the pastor’s head, another hit his lung. I’m not sure how Remington survived the attack, but by the grace of God he did and it looks like he’ll make a full recovery. Odom fled the scene in a silver 2004 Honda Accord with Idaho license plate K578519, police said. Odom has blond hair and blue eyes, is 6 feet tall and weighs about 170 pounds. This all happened in the parking lot of the church. Odom was a corporal in the Marine Corps and studied biochemistry at the University of Idaho, according to his Facebook page.
