Media Influencing the Democrat Party Nomination

By: Roger Aronoff | Accuracy in Media

As the election rolls on it is becoming clear that the current favorites to win the two major party nominations are Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. But favorites don’t always win. There are still many Republicans and conservatives determined to undermine Trump’s candidacy at a brokered, or open, or contested convention. Call it what you will. Such a move could lead to civil war in the GOP. And Hillary’s path may be even less certain than it appears.

Both candidates—Hillary and Trump—have considerable clouds hanging over them. In this column, I will look at the situation with the Democrats.

Much has been made of the notion that if Trump gets the Republican nomination, many Republicans will stay home or vote for the Democrat. But there hasn’t been nearly the same amount of speculation about what the Democrats will do if Hillary gets the nod.

Forum: What Do You see As America’s Greatest National Security Challenge?

The Watcher’s Council

National Security

Every week on Monday morning, the Council and our invited guests weigh in at the Watcher’s Forum with short takes on a major issue of the day, the culture or daily living. This week’s question: What Do You see As America’s Greatest National Security Challenge?

GrEaT sAtAn”S gIrLfRiEnD: During the Cold War, the Soviet Union was the center of U.S. foreign policy and comprehensive strategy. Today’s Russia is not important enough to merit that role. But Russia is important, hostile, and active enough to take seriously.

A long time enabler of uncool regimes, Russia has the ability to totally queer the mix on a global scale. Just lucky perhaps, the Commonwealth’s ginormous size guarantees global consequences whenever She acts out.

Cruz: Finally, A President Committed to Really Fixing It!

By: Lloyd Marcus

Ted Cruz1

Our Conservative Campaign Committee team has been traveling state-to-state, boots-on-the-ground campaigning for Ted Cruz in caucuses and primaries. After campaigning for Cruz in Fayetteville, North Carolina, we joined a rally led by Heidi Cruz.

In her speech Heidi shared how Ted fell in love with and memorized the U.S. Constitution as a teenager. Ted also memorized large portions of the Bible. Against all odds, experts and polls, Ted resoundingly won his bid for the U.S. senate.

Heidi cited her husband’s courage. He went to Washington as a Texas Senator fully committed to staying loyal to the Constitution and the voters who sent him. This is why it drives me nuts when I hear clueless voters say Cruz is a part of the problem or Cruz is disliked in DC. I want to yell, “Cruz is NOT a part of the corrupt system. Cruz is disliked because he is a powerful leader and advocate for We the People who refused to go-a-long to get-a-long. Of course, the DC politics-as-usual crowd are going to hate him.”

The Missing Holiday

By: T F Stern | The Moral Liberal

Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane

During Sunday School a question was asked, “Of all the holidays during the year, what’s your favorite?”  This being the third week in March several answered, “Easter”, while Christmas, Thanksgiving and the 4th of July were also in the running.  Then the instructor asked if anyone celebrated this coming Thursday; something I hadn’t considered as a ‘holiday’.

As Easter weekend comes around perhaps this Thursday should be celebrated; if not as a holiday then surely it falls into the category of important and significant.

Number of refugees coming to Michigan expected to climb

By: George Hunter | The Detroit News

Michigan is expected to take in more than 5,000 refugees this year, the highest number since 2002, amid renewed concerns about security and the latest effort in Congress to overhaul the U.S. Resettlement Program.

Since 2002, the earliest year for which U.S. officials say they have reliable state-by-state data, Michigan has resettled between about 500 and 4,500 refugees annually. State social service agencies say they plan to take in about 5,100 this year.

The expected influx comes as intelligence officials warn Islamic State members posing as refugees will likely launch an attack on U.S. soil this year. A bill seeking to cap the number of refugees and strengthen security measures was approved Wednesday by the U.S. House Judiciary Committee.
