Trump Promises “Peace in Our Time”

By: Cliff Kincaid | Accuracy in Media

Trump

David Horowitz has decided to throw in the towel in the presidential contest. The former New Leftist turned conservative activist and deep thinker has apparently concluded that Donald J. Trump will be the GOP nominee and that conservatives have to rally behind him. But one strange omission in Trump’s “reassuring” speech continues to cause controversy and reverberations around the world. Trump failed to even mention Russian aggression in Ukraine.

How could Trump not mention the one country in Europe, Ukraine, which has been recently invaded by Russian forces and a part of which is under foreign occupation? Even if you are so callous as not to care about the freedom of the people of Ukraine, what about the fact that this is the country in which pro-Russian forces fired a missile that brought down a civilian airliner, Malaysian flight MH17, killing all 283 passengers on board? The blood on Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s hands was apparent when his nationvetoed a United Nations proposal to prosecute the perpetrators.

No wonder Trump boasted that Putin has called him a genius. The New York businessman can sound tough while articulating a policy of pandering to, and appeasement of, Russia. And some conservatives are buying it. This is not genius but deliberate deception.

Will Obamacare Collapse Before Obama Leaves Office?

By: Roger Aronoff | Accuracy in Media

Obama

Obamacare has turned out to be a massive boondoggle for the American people, despite the media’s consistent attempts to cover up this law’s failures. After all, to disparage Obamacare is to tarnish President Obama’s legacy. But as Marc Thiessen, a former George W. Bush speechwriter, points out in a recent opinion piece for The Washington Post, Obamacare’s, and therefore Obama’s, enduring domestic legacy will do “more to discredit big government than 1,000 Reagan speeches ever did.”

The typical mainstream media playbook stipulates that all opposition to liberal policies must be reported as originating with Republicans or conservatives. Thus, The Hill recently cast opposition to Obamacare as Republican presidential partisanship. “Health insurance companies are laying the groundwork for substantial increases in ObamaCare premiums, opening up a line of attack for Republicans in a presidential election year,” wrote Peter Sullivan for The Hill.

However, according to a January CBS News/New York Times poll, the reality is that a majority of Americans disapprove of Obamacare. That was reconfirmed in a Pew Research Center survey released this month, showing that 54 percent of Americans disapprove of Obamacare, while only 44 percent approve. Those angry about this law are not just a fringe group incited by Republican campaign rhetoric.

No, Ted Cruz was not ‘John Boehner’s lawyer’

By: Renee Nal | New Zeal

John Boehner via stanforddaily

John Boehner via stanforddaily

The media is working hard to convince you that they caught Ted Cruz in a lie about working with John Boehner. But they are lying, as usual.

During an interview hosted by Stanford in Government (SIG) and the Stanford Speakers Bureau, former House Speaker John Boehner referred to presidential candidate Ted Cruz as “Lucifer in the flesh.” He continued, “I have Democrat friends and Republican friends. I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch in my life.”

But Boehner did not “work” with Ted Cruz. Boehner only worked against Cruz as he golfed with Trump, who Boehner referred to as his “texting buddy.”

The comments are reminiscent of other nasty names Boehner has used to describe the constant anti-establishment thorn in his side. Last year, the failed Speaker referred to Cruz as a “jackass,” and still another time as a “false prophet.

As reported at TrevorLoudon.com, Cruz responded in part by saying that he “…never worked with Boehner, and he’s only met him two or three times.” During a 2014 interview at cincinnati.com, Boehner confirmed that he has “not talked to [Cruz]” since he was elected:

Ted Cruz Responds To John Boehner FULL Press Conference With Carly Fiorina In Ft. Wayne

Ted Cruz

From NewsMax:

On Wednesday, Boehner, during a chat with Stanford University, blasted Cruz as a “miserable son of a b****” and called him “Lucifer in the flesh.”

“I have Democrat friends and Republican friends. I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a b— in my life,” Boehner commented.

He further said that he and front-runner Donald Trump play golf together and are “texting buddies,” but he would not vote for Cruz even if he does get the GOP nomination.

But on Thursday, Cruz said he’s never worked with Boehner, and he’s only met him two or three times.

“If I said 50 words in my life to John Boehner, I’d be surprised,” said Cruz, nothing that “every one” of those conversations “has consisted of pleasantries like ‘good to see you, Mr. Speaker.'”

“I’ve never had any substantive conversation with John Boehner in any respect,” said Cruz, but he did comment that during the government shutdown, he and Utah Republican Sen. Mike Lee reached out to Boehner.

“I offered to come over and work with the speaker,” said Cruz. “I asked him, ‘can we resolve this and actually get something meaningful done to stop the disaster that is Obamacare?’ John Boehner’s response was ‘I have no interest in talking to you. What possibly could be accomplished by having a conversation? No, I will not meet.'”

So, said Cruz, “when he says I’m the biggest SOB he’s ever worked with, he’s never worked with me.”

And Boehner is angry, said Cruz, because conservatives said that if they promised to repeal Obamacare, that meant “let’s actually stand up and fight Obamacare. What Boehner is angry with is that we said if we promise to stop amnesty, let’s actually honor our promises.”

Further, said Cruz, Boehner is angry because the “American people are holding him accountable.”

And over the years, said Cruz, Trump has been “writing checks to Boehner, writing checks to Hillary, funding the corrupt system.”

Boehner is angry, said Cruz, “because I led a movement of the people to hold Washington accountable. Donald Trump is playing a part or playing a role to use the word of his lobbyist campaign manager, pretending to be an outsider.

“Donald Trump is the ultimate Washington insider. He is a lobbyist who has gotten rich exploiting government power to hammer the little guy.”

The Prayer of Enos for Our Time

By: T F Stern | T F Stern’s Rantings
Prayer

Our studies in Sunday School took us through the Book of Enos this past week.  It’s only a page long; but holds a wealth of information, information which applies to our day, perhaps more so than when it was written.

Enos prayed unto the Lord for a remission of his sins and during the conversation, prayer being more than a casual acknowledgment of the Lord’s hand in our lives; during that conversation Enos poured out his concerns regarding his people as well as those who stood in direct opposition to them.  After carefully reading the text it becomes evident that the people Enos pleads for at first are his own; but that they have become complacent and headed down a troublesome road.

In verse 10 we get a better idea of the dilemma Enos faced as he pleaded for his people to be worthy of blessings while at the same time well aware that those who understand their responsibilities, having decided not to follow the Lord’s way, those people must face the consequences of their actions.

Trump’s Incoherent, Inconsistent, Russian-Loving Foreign Policy

By: Terresa Monroe-Hamilton

Trump Foreign

Far be it from me to agreed with a Marxist, but CNN’s Fareed Zakaria did a great job listing just how incoherent and inconsistent Donald Trump’s foreign policy is.

He listed everything except for the gem where Trump touted that 9/11 was a tragedy because Italians died in it.

Trump used a prepared speech and teleprompters yesterday. He mispronounced ‘Tasmania’ and stumbled left and right. He talked about reducing weapon stockpiles. He talked about not getting in further conflicts, but he would still defeat ISIS. That makes no sense. He chooses a slogan of ‘America First!’ that was a slogan in the 1930’s for the Nazis in America to keep us from fighting the Germans. No one knows how to use Google in the Trump camp evidently. He also talks about the Cold War ending… it never did… it shifted. Trump’s speech was a disaster all in itself.

My friend Denise Simon noted several things yesterday… I have no doubt that Donald Trump is firmly in bed with Russia. He had the Russian Ambassador sitting in the front row of his speech. He has a campaign manager who represented Russian interests. He has foreign policy advisers that are friendly to Russia. Trump himself is fond of Putin and can ‘negotiate’ with him. You see, Trump is even more flexible than Obama was.
