Campus Conservatives and Pro-lifers Fight for Truth

By: Cliff Kincaid | Accuracy in Media

Campus

Discrimination against conservatives on campus is a dramatic story being told by Peter Fricke and other great reporters at CampusReform.org. In many cases, however, pro-lifers at colleges and universities across the country are pushing back. Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, has been reporting not only on how “progressives” are running rampant, but how pro-life students are making their views and presence felt. Her organization has sponsored more than 900 student groups on campuses representing all 50 states. Here are some recent examples of where conservative and pro-life students and faculty are fighting back:

  • Notre Dame will be giving pro-abortion Vice President Joe Biden the oldest and most prestigious honor accorded to American Catholics at their graduation ceremony this spring. The Notre Dame Chapter of University Faculty for Lifeopposes the University’s decision, saying it’s “a scandalous violation of the University’s moral responsibility” and that Catholics should never honor “those who act in defiance of fundamental moral principles about the sanctity of life.” It notes that Biden “has for decades conspicuously rejected Church teaching about life. He has rejected it repeatedly and consistently in the context of abortion, where (he has been quoted as saying) he would not want to ‘impose’ this teaching upon a woman and her doctor. He also favors killing embryonic human beings for research purposes, even to the extent of committing taxpayers’ money to support it.”
  • Loyola Marymount University, another well-known Catholic university in California, has asked disgraced, pro-abortion former President Bill Clinton to give their 2016 commencement address. The Cardinal Newman Society called it “a new low in the University’s repeated betrayal of its Catholic mission.”
  • At the University of Iowa, the school administration decided that Students for Life sidewalk chalk messages were too “offensive” and had them removed. Themessages included “abortion stops 3200 hearts each day in the US,” “women deserve better than abortion,” “Students for Life supports pregnant and parenting students,” and “Smile, your mom chose life.”
  • At Southern Methodist University, the Students for Life group created a cemetery with 3,000 crosses to represent the number of lives lost to abortion every day. Members came out the next day to find out their entire display had been taken down.
  • The University of North Georgia Students For Life revealed photographs of decapitated baby cookies taken at a pro-abortion rally held by the North Georgia Skeptics Society, an atheist group on campus. The pro-abortion table includedbaby-shaped cookies, some with their heads cut off to signify dismemberment. The North Georgia Skeptics Society said it was a misunderstanding and that “many of the fetus shaped cookies broke of their own accord.”
  • The University of Colorado at Boulder initially rejected funding for the campus Students for Life group to host Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood Director and now pro-life advocate, as a speaker. The funding to the group from the university’s Cultural Events Board was denied because the Johnson speech was not considered “educational” and balanced. The Alliance Defending Freedomwas consulted for help in the case, and noted in response that speakers that the Board had previously funded included one-sided lectures from Angela Davis, recipient of the Lenin Peace Prize and former leader of the Communist Party USA; transgender activist Janet Mock; Bernie Sanders’ socialist buddy Cornel West, and Jose Antonio Vargas, a pro-illegal immigration activist. Eventually, the event received full funding and Johnson was able to come and give her speech.

Generals Warn of Russian Aggression As Trump Cozies Up To Putin

By: Cliff Kincaid | Accuracy in Media

generals

While Republican presidential candidate Donald J. Trump is talking about cooperation with Russia, The Wall Street Journal is reporting that one of America’s top generals, NATO Supreme commander General Philip Breedlove, is saying that the United States and its allies have to immediately address Russian military aggression.

“We see that Russia has not accepted the hand of partnership but has chosen a path of belligerence,” Breedlove is quoted by the paper as saying. “We need to readdress where we’re heading.” Breedlove is retiring as NATO supreme commander and commander of U.S. European Command.

By contrast, Trump recently gave a foreign policy address that completely ignored Russian aggression in Ukraine, leading to a warm reception in Moscow for the Republican candidate.

Goodnight Republican Party… the Conservative Fight Continues

By: Terresa Monroe-Hamilton

Ted Cruz1

I have not seen a true constitutional conservative in politics since Ronald Reagan… Ted Cruz is cut from the very same cloth that Reagan was. It was with shock and great sadness last night as I watched Donald Trump sweep Indiana and then Ted Cruz suspend his campaign. I have never wept over a political race, but I did so last night. I wept for the Republic and for the freedoms my grandchildren will never know now. But after I got over the sorrow, I got mad and decided the fight goes on.

A special thank you here to those who have fought so hard in this battle with me. My thanks to Senator Ted Cruz and his family… I will always be thankful for your efforts here and I look forward to fighting for conservatism with you in the future. Ted Cruz is a man of faith and principles. A good man and one I deeply admire. To my friend and fellow patriot, Trevor Loudon, who never wavered and never quit fighting, thank you for being my battle buddy and friend. To Denise Simon, who is not only a friend and a patriot, but one of the most brilliant national security analysts I have ever known – you are someone who I lean on and trust implicitly. To Arlen Williams of Gulag Bound… a friend through thick and thin and someone who is far above my pay grade intellectually… I owe him more than I can ever repay. Lloyd Marcus was one of the hardest working patriots out there and a true man of faith and principle. I am also honored to call him my friend.

I’m also going to echo Trevor here and thank others: Rep. Steve King, Greg Cummings and Steve Deace from Iowa. Garry Hamilton, Ben Shapiro, John Hawkins, Jenny Beth Martin, Ann-Marie Murrell, Dana Loesch, Benjamin Weingarten, Shona, Thomas, Jack and Danita, Mike Michaels, Manny Roman, Pastor Greg Young, John King from Florida, Bryan from Idaho, Bill and Regina from Colorado, our New Hampshire friends, Curtis Bowers and his amazing family, Renee Nal and Sparky & Angela from the TK Radio Network!

To others I consider friends and fellow conservative patriots – Eric Erickson and the crew from Red State, Mark Levin, Michael Harrington, Torin Archbold, Mark Prasek, John Daniels of TavernKeepers and SooperMexican from the Right Scoop.

A huge shout-out too to Glenn Beck and his team. True American heroes all. All of you are the very best and I am honored to stand with you. There are many others I didn’t mention and I haven’t forgotten you. I thank all of you and I will still fight alongside you.

In case anyone has any doubts out there, I will never, ever vote for Trump. Not after all that has happened. Not after the massive shifting of positions on every subject. Not after the nastiness, the lies and the vileness. No way, no how. I will be joined by millions as well. People say, ‘then you are voting for Hillary’. No, I’m not. I’m choosing not to be a part of the final nail in the coffin of the Republic. I will not vote for a monster to keep a demon out. I view Trump as Hillary in drag. To me, there is just about no difference.

Thank you Senator Cruz and all who stand with him

By: Trevor Loudon | New Zeal

I met Senator Cruz for the third or fourth time two nights ago in La Porte, Indiana. It was both exhilarating and poignant for me, as I knew the polls were not looking good.

cruzo

I shook Senator Cruz’s hand and touched his shoulder to wish him luck.

Now that Senator Cruz has stepped down from the race, I wish to thank him for the hope he has given me and millions of other freedom lovers all over this world.

I never thought I’d see a leader like Senator Cruz in my lifetime. A man of the deepest integrity, humility kindness, faith and courage. It was an honor for me to support Senator Cruz in any small way I could.

During the campaign, I got to meet Ted’s Dad Rafael on a few occasions and was extremely impressed by his courage and commitment to America and the Constitution. The apple did not fall far from the tree. I never met Heidi Cruz, but I saw her at several rallies. She was always impressive – whether tending to her lovely little girls, or wowing the crowd with her impassioned speaking.

You can judge a man by the company he keeps. The Cruz people were always great and the supporters around the country were amazing.

Right up front were stalwarts like Rep. Steve King, Greg Cummings and the super astute Steve Deace from Iowa. Terresa Monroe-Hamilton, Lloyd Marcus, Ben Shapiro, Jenny Beth Martin, Ann-Marie Murrell, Dana Loesch, Benjamin Weingarten, Arlen Williams, Shona, Thomas, Jack and Danita, Mike Michaels, Manny Roman, Pastor Greg Young, John King from Florida, Bryan from Idaho, Bill and Regina from Colorado, our New Hampshire friends, Curtis Bowers and his amazing family, Renee Nal and Sparky & Angela from the TK Radio Network!

Many that I’ve never met I like to consider friends – Eric Erickson and the crew from Red State, Mark Levin, Michael Harrington, Torin Archbold, Mark Prasek, John Daniels of TavernKeepers and SooperMexican from the Right Scoop.

A huge shout-out too to Glenn Beck and his team. True American heroes all.

There are many more, but I’m dog-tired as I write this, so please forgive me if I forget you temporarily.

I cannot begin to imagine how Ted and his family must feel right now. I wish them all the sound sleep of the righteous.

Ted Cruz has made an impact that will be felt for centuries. He has flown the flag for liberty like no other political aspirant I’ve ever seen.

I don’t think this election cycle has delivered all its surprises yet. Whatever role you play in the liberty movement Senator Cruz, I offer you and your family my humblest thanks and very best wishes for the future.

The fight for freedom moves to it’s next phase.
