A Short, Communist History of “McCarthyism”

By: Diana West

It was one thing for the Communist Party organ, the Daily Worker, that pre-Twitter roadmap of every zig and zag of Kremlin directives, to have ramped up the information-war against Senator Joseph McCarthy in the early 1950s by turning the name of our greatest anti-communist hero into an epithet mouthed by the Left.

It is quite another for conservatives nearly 70 years later to keep pounding what was, after all, Stalin’s line. It was Stalin’s line not for his health, of course, but for his long war to destroy the USA at home: specifically, to destroy the anti-communist resistance, personified, circa 1950, by the fearless junior senator from Wisconsin. There are many markers attesting to the Kremlin’s mainly unacknowleged ideological victory in this same war, from our own Marxist college campuses, to a numbing list of cultural debasements, to Russian hypersonic missiles, courtesy the seemingly invisible “reset” tech transfer scheme called Skolkovo. To this list of markers I would add the quick-trigger, full-throated conservative chorus against “McCarthyism.”

It seems hard to imagine, but at some point long ago most Americans rejected the Daily Worker and everything it stood for outright — communism, Stalin, subversion, the works. Now, we don’t really know what any of it means (see capture of the US education system, already under communist siege by 1920). Even astute conservative commentators draw a blank on the entire battle that the Daily Worker & ilk very successfully prosecuted against us on our own home front. Manchurian-candidate-style, they go to veritable Marxist slogans for intellectual ammunition, as we see in the selection of best-brightest comments above.

Here’s an idea: How about reconsidering the origins of “McCarthyism” and understanding them for what they are — the very real seeds of our Marxian destruction and collective shambles.

To set the scene, imagine that post-WWII-time when Americans were still trying to assess the depths and toxicity of the original Swamp, which started to come into public view after nearly two decades of unchecked communist infiltration during most of the 1930s and 1940s. Presently, along came 41-year-old Senator McCarthy with that explosive list of federal security cases, which he presented on the floor of the US Senate in February of 1950.

No one knew it but the so-called McCarthy Era had dawned. Communists and pro-communists were terrified, petrified. To this day, the Pavlovian response is a group-shudder and scattered wails. But the McCarthy Era was a good thing — if, that is, you are a conservative or other proponent of liberty and justice for all, not just Politburo members.

It was not a good thing if you were a Marxist-Leninist-Stalinist engaged in treason and/or the federal bureaucracy.

On April 5, 1950, the Daily Worker wrote: “Communists are keenly aware of the damage the McCarthy crowd is doing.”

On May 4, 1950, Gus Hall, later Communist party chairman (1959-2000) and, bonus, John Brennan’s 1976 presidential candidate, wrote, also in the Daily Worker: “I urge all Communist Party members, and all anti-fascists, to yield second-place to none in the fight to rid our country of the fascist poison of McCarthyism.”

Note that neither the Daily Worker nor Gus Hall are common icons of the Right — but, weirdly, today’s conservatives, up to and including President Trump, continue to pay homage to their false definition of “McCarthyism.”

In 1945, Louis F. Budenz, a member of the National Committee of the Communist Party and managing editor of the Daily Worker, broke with communism, the party, and the Daily Worker and returned to the Catholic Church. With his store of knowlege and experience, he became an invaluable witness and guide to the communist movement, both open and underground. He also wrote five essential books about his life and our times. In his 1966 book, The Bolshevik Invasion of the West, Budenz went into the Communist origins of the campaign against the late McCarthy, who, by the way, was just 48 years old when he died in 1957.

The “battle against McCarthyism,” be it known, was concocted by the Communists and under their direction and guidance became completely dominant in American thinking and action. The “battle against McCarthyism” was originated in the March 1950 plenary or special session of the National Committee of the Communist Party.

That would be right after McCarthy and his “list” burst onto the national scene.

The birth of the “battle” is reported for the benefit of the comrades in the May, 1950 issue of Political Affairs [the Communist Party theoretical organ]. The “battle” was ordered to begin by Gus Hall, later a fugitive from justice, escaping to Mexico after being convicted of plotting for the overthrow of the American Government. In the March session of the Communist national committee, Hall opened the campaign against “McCarthyism” when he declared that “the McCarthys” must be put “into the un-American subversive garbage heap where they belong.” It was the orders of this Moscow agent and convicted proponent of the violent overthrow of the United States Government which helped eventually to rule American thought.

Including, alas, American conservative thought.

In a November 5, 1954 newspaper article, “Enter Sen. Joseph McCarthy; Moscow Decrees Rights Cry,” Budenz elaborated on what happened next:

During the three years from 1950 to 1953, I pored over hundreds of copies of the Daily Worker which fanned the flames of the attack on McCarthy.

From my experiences in the conspiracy, I realized in 1950 that the Reds’ organized hysteria against McCarthy and McCarthyism would soon pass easily into non-Communist opinion-forming organs.

In a comparitively short time after Gus Hall’s order, what the Communists ordered to be said about McCarthy was being repeated by outstanding public figures, certain leading newspapers, and television and radio commentators. The same “transmission belt” method which had led the United States to betray Poland, China and other countries was now working successfully to prevent this country from defending itself.

A rare insight, which enlarges our understanding of all of these events.

Budenz continues:

Moscow officially threw fuel on the flames. In October, 1952, Joseph Stalin gave an important directive to his agents in non-Communist countries. He called upon the Communinsts in the “bourgeois” nations to raise higher the banner of “bourgeois civil liberties.” This call was dutifully published here in Political Affairs, the official Communist theoretical organ, and hailed as a momentous declaration.

The arrogance and insincerity of this call were apparent to all who read it.

Obviously — since there were no “civil liberties” in the Soviet empire.

Most unfortunately, very few Americans bothered to examine it at all, and this was true of most of our national leaders. The effect of this call was even greater frenzy against “McCarthyism” in the Communist press, and consequently among the friends and puppets of the Communists. They all followed the order to attack McCarthy in the name of “civil liberties.”

In The Bolshevik Invasion of the West, Budenz continues:

By June 1, 1953, the Daily Worker could report in a leading editorial, “Our Crusade Hits Home,” that it was making tremendous progress is this battle. Many conservative organizations were following the Communist lead, it said,

In the same month — June, 1953 — Political Affairs, official theoretical organ of the Communist Party, ran an important article, “The Anatomy of McCarthyism.” In that important directive article, it was declared that this battle was not against an individual alone but against all those who would seek to declare the Communist Party in the United States a “conspiracy.” So successful has this campaign been, that the United States today cannot do much against the Communist conspiracy in its midst …

This same directive — in effect, to expand “McCarthyism” into a universal weapon against all anti-communist defenses against communism  — would, of course, be repeated, as in this March 17, 1954, Daily Worker screed, “Stamp Out McCarthyism,” by former party chairman Willam Z. Foster, author of Toward Soviet America

What is wanted is not … more gentlemanly red-baiting and Soviet hating as so many in labor and political circles have been doing. This line only feeds McCarthyism. The whole program of warmongering [read: anti-communism] must be knocked out and the country embarked upon a realistic policy of peaceful coexistence between the United States and the Soviet Union. This alone can basically end the menace of McCarthyism. …

McCARTHY must be driven our of American public life completely. …

In the coming November elections the labor and progressive forces should defeat every McCarthyite who appears on any ticket and elect strong anti-McCarthy candidates …

One thing is clear. The organs and agents of godless communism, that creed of blood, servitude and pain, were obsessed and existentially threatend by this one American patriot, Senator McCarthy, and the larger anti-communist tradition he so quickly personified.

And America blinked.

“McCarthyism,” not communist subversion, was defeated.

Thus, today, from across the political spectrum, we continue to decry bad, old “McCarthyism,” having forgotten all about communist subversion.

I wonder if the day will come when conservatives, at least, notice that when they decry “McCarthyism,” they put a big, happy face on Stalin, wherever he is burning.

Russia Love-Fest: Alex Jones Completely Loses It In Epic Profanity-Laced Meltdown Over Syria Strike

By: Terresa Monroe-Hamilton

Last night, President Trump ordered precision military strikes on Syria for the use of chemical weapons against their own people. It was the right thing to do. Both Russia and Iran are involved in this up to their necks. I’m just sadder it wasn’t days before this. We gave them too much time to move their weapons and people. Now, we wait and see if Russia will retaliate. For a great write-up on last night’s strike, go here.

Meanwhile, as I was cheering John Bolton, General Mattis and President Trump on, Alex Jones was having a total meltdown over the attack. I watched it several times and I’m impressed. I have never seen so much profanity and outrage in defense of our number one enemy, the Russians. Some thought Alex was drunk or just nuts. He now does spots for RT… Russia Today is the propaganda arm for the Russians. I sometimes wonder if he is a master propagandist for the Russkies. One thing for sure is, he’s a lousy actor.

In-between using the ‘F’ word and crying, Jones was furious. Jones said Trump’s decision, which came in conjunction with France and Great Britain, made him “sick.” “But he was doing good and that’s what makes it so bad,” Jones said. “If he had been a piece of crap from the beginning, it wouldn’t be so bad. We’ve made so many sacrifices and now he’s crapping all over us. It makes me sick.”

Another video was uploaded to Twitter by WikiLeaks. The video shows Jones absolutely losing his mind in a profanity-laced rant. Enjoy:

“I’m f**kin’ pissed right now,” Jones said. “F**k Trump and f**k these f**king people.” At the end of the epic rant, Jones suggested his staff turn off his live feeds and delete the preceding two-minute rant. Not fast enough though… it got out. Wow… what a performance. And there was even more:

Unhinged doesn’t quite cover it here. And there is more:

I’m speechless. Such love for Russia is humbling… truly. Not. Describing them as a white knight? WTH? Beyond delusional and sick. I don’t always agree with President Trump, but he did the right thing here and should be commended for it. Alex needs to decide whose side he’s on… Russia’s or America’s. Trump is not the fraud here, but the same cannot be said about Jones.

EXCLUSIVE: Who is helping Diamond and Silk?

By: Renee Nal | New Zeal

Facebook’s Neil Potts and Sheryl Sandberg meets with hard-left activists over Russia propaganda on Facebook in October 2017

The pro-Trump comedy duo Diamond and Silk experienced censorship on Facebook. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg acknowledged the censorship, and referred to it during his testimony on Capitol Hill this past week as an “enforcement error.”

In an update to supporters, the pair tweeted a letter referencing Facebook employee Neil Potts, who, along with Facebook Chief Operating Officer (COO) Sheryl Sandberg met with leftist activists Deray Mckesson, Blair Imani, Brittany Packnett, Sam White, Samuel Sinyangwe and others to discuss “safety, activism, Russia, & a host of ideas about moving forward” in October last year.

Diamond and Silk were censored on Facebook after being labeled “unsafe.” After being grilled about the censorship by Rep. Joe Barton of Texas, the Facebook CEO conceded that it was an “enforcement error.”

‘Congressman, in that specific case,’ replied Zuckerberg; ‘our team made an enforcement error. And we have already gotten in touch with them to reverse it.’

It is highly unlikely that this repeated injustice to conservatives would have ever been exposed if not for the recent congressional hearing on Facebook privacy featuring CEO Mark Zuckerberg, where several Senators – mainly Senator Ted Cruz – pointedly interrogated the Facebook CEO about political bias on the platform. Diamond and Silk are one example of many conservatives whose pages have been deemed to be incompliant with the vague and inconsistent “Facebook Community Standards.”

Watch Senator Cruz at the 1:46:12 minute mark:

Before the hearing, Diamond and Silk posted the following after a long battle with the social media giant, as reported at the Daily Wire:

Here is the reply from Facebook. Thu, Apr 5, 2018 at 3:40 PM: “The Policy team has came to the conclusion that your content and your brand has been determined unsafe to the community.” Yep, this was FB conclusion after 6 Months, 29 days, 5 hrs, 40 minutes and 43 seconds. Oh and guess what else Facebook said: “This decision is final and it is not appeal-able in any way.” (Note: This is the exact wording that FB emailed to us.)

Here is their announcement on Twitter (see thread):

On Friday, Diamond and Silk posted an update on Twitter from Neil Potts of Facebook. According to his LinkedIn profile, Potts is a “Public Policy Manager at Facebook.”

A quick Twitter search showed Neil Potts, referenced in Facebook’s letter to Diamond and Silk, at a meeting with highly partisan activists including Deray on October 13 2017.

Here are some of the people at the meeting with Neil Potts, who is working with Diamond and Silk:

Blair Imani Brown meets Bill Clinton at a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton in April 2016

Brittany Packett was an appointed member of the Ferguson Commission and was selected by Obama to serve on the White House taskforce to study “21st century policing”

Facebook COO Sheryl K. Sandberg formerly endorsed Hillary Clinton for President and even shared “research” with Hillary’s campaign, as was revealed by emails published by Wikileaks.

Former President Barack Obama kisses Facebook COO Sheryl K. Sandberg

On 9 Aug 2017, Samuel Sinyangwe tweeted about a meeting he and five others, including Brittany Packnett, had with then-presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.

And interestingly, here he is again, conducting a counter-terrorism presentation at the Germany-based “George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies.”

It should be noted that Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg officially endorsed Hillary Clinton for president in 2016 and was revealed by emails posted by Wikileaks to have shared research with the Clinton campaign.

This is worth repeating. Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, whose net worth is 1.54 billion USD, shared “research” with Hillary Clinton’s cronies. While it is unclear whether Sandberg gained that “research” from Facebook, it would not be a stretch to make such an assumption.

The meeting with left wing activists was one of several referenced in Politico last year, including one with the Congressional Black Caucus, who “confronted” Sheryl Sandberg over “the lack of diversity on the Facebook board and the Russian bought ads which positioned Black Live Matter as a divisive wedge:”

“Seeking to address concerns over Russian-linked ads that ran on Facebook during the 2016 election, COO Sheryl Sandberg met this week in Washington with leaders from Latino, Muslim-American and African-American rights groups, an unprecedented outreach for the company…Facebook declined to say which African-American and Muslim groups met with Sandberg…”

Watch and circulate Trevor Loudon’s shocking documentary The Enemies Within as widely as you can before November 2018. It is a vote-changing experience.

10 Key Insights From Today’s Deep State Coup News

Doug Ross @ Journal

For your review:

10. Lisa Page, Cooperating Witness Against the Deep State
Lisa Page, the DOJ special counsel for the FBI during Obamagate, is a cooperating witness with Inspector General Horowitz. Her testimony — and text messages — are laced throughout today’s IG report on Andrew McCabe’s lies that led to his firing. Page’s evidence is very likely instrumental to the more complete IG report due out in May.

9. Andrew McCabe Freaked Out About Reports of His Conflict of Interest
When The Wall Street Journal‘s Devlin Barrett reported on Andrew McCabe’s conflict of interest with respect to the Hillary Clinton email investigation, the then-deputy director had a panic attack.

Barrett reported that the state senate campaign of McCabe’s wife was funded to the tune of more than half-a-million by Clinton proxy Terry McCauliffe. In fact, just days after revelations that Clinton operated an illegal email server for all State Department business became public, McCaullife visited Jill McCabe and encouraged her to run for office. Her husband Andrew would, under normal circumstances, have led any investigation into Hillary’s illegal actions.

Andrew McCabe, according to recorded testimony, forced his subordinate Lisa Page to secretly leak reports to the WSJ that he was not conflicted and that he, in fact, wanted to continue the Hillary probe. This, it would appear, was a lie.

8. Andrew McCabe Is a Sleaze-Bag
After ordering his subordinates to leak to the Journal, McCabe then denied said leaks to his boss (James Comey) and, as part of his peronsal cover-up, actually ripped other DOJ officials for the leaks that he had orchestrated.

7. Why Hasn’t McCabe Been Indicted?
As Brit Hume points out, “The term ‘lacked candor’ emerges in the IG report on McCabe as an FBI/DOJ euphemism… the meaning seems clear: he lied.”

And since lying to the FBI is the kind of grievous crime that Michael Flynn and Martha Stewart were charged with, why hasn’t McCabe?

6. Priorities
The raid on Trump attorney Michael Cohen was said to be precipitated by illegal activities related to New York City taxi medallions, a business with which Cohen has been involved.

The priorities of the DOJ seem clear: taxi medallions over the Boston Marathon bombers, the San Bernardino terrorists, the Pulse Nightclub shooters, and Florida school shooter Nikolas Cruz, to name but a few.

5. J. Edgar Comey
Then-FBI director James Comey briefed President-Elect Trump on the existence of the “salacious and unverified” Russian dossier. He admits in his book that he never informed Trump that the Hillary Clinton campaign and the DNC had paid for the “dossier”.

4. J. Edgar Comey, Part II
In his book, Comey asserts that it is the job of law enforcement “to keep our leaders in check”. Funny, that key fact never turned up in any of my Civics classes.

Comey’s statement reads, “It is… wrong to stand idly by, or worse, to stay silent when… a president brazenly seeks to undermine public confidence in law enforcement institutions that were established to keep our leaders in check”.

And here I thought that our law enforcement institutions were supposed to enforce, you know, laws.

3. Obama vs. Trump on Executive Privilege
Hey, remember when Barack Obama claimed “executive privilege” on his communications with then-Attorney General Eric Holder regarding his operation to ilegally distribute thousands of firearms to Mexican drug cartels? Good times, good times.

At least two U.S. law enforcement personnel — not to mention hundreds of Mexican nationals — were murdered as a direct result of Holder’s actions.

Hundreds dead vs. Michael Cohen and Stormy Daniels. Seems legit.

[Note: As an aside, I actually made the Obama “enemies list” for my reporting on Fast and Furious. I wear that as a badge of honor.]

2. Edgar Comey, Part III
In his book, Comey compares President Trump to a “mob boss”.

He does not, in fact, compare the Clinton syndicate to anything. You know, the folks behind the Loral/China missile deal, the Uranium One scandal, the Clinton Foundation pay-for-play scams, the inflated price of speeches, the election-rigging against Bernie Sanders, the passing of debate questions by confidante Donna Brazile to Hillary, and a litany of other skulduggery.

Seems legit.

1. Cohen and Fusion GPS

I’m patiently waiting for the indictments of the entire cast of Deep State actors who attempted to overthrow a duly elected president.

Tar and feathers may be a good start.
