Not sure when this advertisement appeared, but the shotgun in the painting appears to be a Winchester Model 1897 pump-action shotgun. 1897 denoting the year it was introduced.

Recall that after the Parkland school shooting in February we were inundated with a media blitz for more gun control by all the usual suspects – the gun control groups (and their behind-the-curtain backers), Democrat politicians, Progressive groups that have allied into a symbiotic relationship to publicly advocate for each others’ pet agendas … and a new AstroTurf poster-child for the movement, David Hogg.  For weeks afterward one could not turn on a TV without seeing Mr. Hogg and playing his scripted righteous victim shtick, and the scripted marches and school walkouts (mostly) intended to provide video for the collaborating media.

On May 15, 2018 in The Corporate Campaign Against Our Second Amendment this author explained how it was all “classic” community organizer and union organizing tactics were being deployed to (ultimately) rip our Second Amendment rights away from us.

Then, on June 28, 2018 there was a mass shooting at in the newsroom of the Capital Gazette newspaper in Annapolis, MD.  It received widespread media coverage for a couple of days – there was no avoiding covering it to some degree – but then largely dropped off the radar.  David Hoog appears to have been confined to his daycare center.  All of which begs the question: “where were the usual suspects; why weren’t they pursuing their media jihad against our Second Amendment this time?”

It’s not as simple as just the fact that Parkland involved students in a school, and this involved adults at a newspaper (which presumably, in accord with Progressive enlightenment, was declared a gun-free zone by management).  No, the explanation lies elsewhere; that is, it didn’t advance their short and intermediate term agenda.

It doesn’t require extraordinary insight to recognize that had the Annapolis shooter had been wearing a “MAGA” hat, we would have been drowned in a tsunami of media coverage, for weeks, regarding the violent and neo-fascist inclinations set loose by the Trump administration.  Oh, and how the “Fascists” were targeting Progressive journalists whose noble purpose in life was to share the truth with the American public.

Neither does in require extraordinary insight to recognize that had the Annapolis shooter used a semi-automatic, AR-style rifle, we’d have likewise been (again) inundated with calls for an “assault weapons ban” and ban on “high capacity” magazines.

Yes, but … but … this shooter used a pump-action shotgun.  Not a semi- automatic.  Not an AR-style “assault rifle.”  Rather, a classic “they’ve been around forever” firearm – one that is favored by many for home defense, and is commonly used for bird hunting. And, once upon a time, for the beneficial purpose of “shotgun weddings.”

From an NPR story and bearing the caption: “A man and a boy out hunting with shotguns, circa 1955.”

So we had gun shots in Annapolis, quickly followed by the “advocate” and media equivalent of “chirping crickets.” Yet the people were still as dead; if the goal was really about “making us safer” and “saving lives” should not the calls for more gun control been as strident and voluminous?  Yes, if that was the actual goal.  But it’s not.

For the Progressives, this shooting occurred a little too soon.

You see, ultimately they want to ban private possession of all firearms.  But the Left has long mastered the “boiling frog” strategy of incrementally advancing its agenda.  Had Annapolis occurred afterthey’d achieved their “assault weapons” ban, we’d have been subjected to a post-Parkland like advocate and media frenzy.  In fact, you can bet that they’re counting on post-“assault weapons” ban shootings occurring, to provide them the pretense of expanding the bans to ever-wider classes of firearms.  All in the name of safety and saving lives, of course.

Progressives have the best interests of the “bitter clingers” and “deplorables” at heart; we’re just too ignorant to recognize their superior wisdom and embrace their enlightened agenda. As for me, I plan on continuing to take heed of the historical lessons of Progressivism’s father Collectivism and its repeated record of tyranny and mass murder – and so to continue to embrace the enlightenment of our Founding Fathers; and to cling not bitterly, but passionately to my Second Amendment rights!

GRAND FINALE FOR THIS POST: Trigger alert for Progressives – this image contains captions of “Miss Rheingold” of 1945 and 1957 – with firearms! Promoting beer! ATF without the “T” … ahhh, the good old days.
