Does Government Watch Us On Social Media? Yes… So Does Business

By: Denise Simon | Mind Matters News

Discerning public opinion on political and national security issues via social media platforms showed its worth during the Arab Spring of 2010. The protests, which began in Tunisia, spread throughout the Middle East, where social media were the key platform for expressing anger about corruption, poverty, human rights violations, unemployment, and authoritarianism. These protests resulted in changes in leadership and policy in Libya, Egypt, and Yemen. They also resulted in immigration issues and sadly, even terror attacks, military conflicts, and civil war.

Social media not only enables coordinated action such as rallies, strikes, resistance, riots, and other methods of activism but also provides status reports and communicates outcomes. One research team has developed an AI metric for predicting such events:

We have shown that actual occurrences of protests are preceded by the growth of their probability estimated using our approach. In addition, our framework facilitates identifying the event(s) that caused the protest mobilization exploiting the fact that we use topically coherent clusters to produce our estimates. This enables us to identify particular grievances, group identities, etc., which may expose the social and cognitive factors explaining the empirical observations. Such explanations may result in the improvement of predictions, and, more importantly, a better understanding of the factors underlying these predictions will enable and inform the design of measures in response to the development of protest activity.

ROSTYSLAV KOROLOV ET AL., “ON PREDICTING SOCIAL UNREST USING SOCIAL MEDIA” AT 2016 IEEE/ACM INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ADVANCES IN SOCIAL NETWORKS ANALYSIS AND MINING (ASONAM) (OPEN ACCESS)The researchers will doubtless find many opportunities to test their metric.

Meanwhile, governments, bureaucrats, tech companies, law enforcement, militaries, and policymakers have all taken note. In the wake of the power of social media. technologies have emerged to test, apply, and score social media’s effects. The longstanding extent of this activity might surprise many:

Headlines swirled yesterday with the release of an ACLU report that showed American law enforcement using social media monitoring firm Geofeedia’s services to monitor protest activity. In the ensuing aftermath, Facebook, Instagram, and then Twitter all suspended Geofeedia’s access to their data feeds. Yet, lost in all this breathless tech press hyperbole is the fact that Geofeedia is just one of a myriad companies offering these services to law enforcement, military, and intelligence agencies both in the United States and abroad.

KALEV LEETARU, “GEOFEEDIA IS JUST THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG: THE ERA OF SOCIAL SURVEILLANCE” AT FORBES (OCTOBER 12, 2016) It’s not just law enforcement. Government agencies use these AI programs for tracking users’ activity on social media for risk assessment. Corporate marketers use them for brand management. The systems track and examine numbers of views, likes, favorites, replies, retweets, and shares of published information. Deeper examinations can assess user timelines, associated orbits of organizations and friends, crime spikes, fraud, and money trails.

Social media platforms like Google, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Tik Tok, Baidu, Facebook, Reddit, MeWe, Gab, Snapchat, LinkedIn, and YouTube, among others, have a worldwide reach. Thus, activism—and surveillance of activism—spread globally. AI surveillance is intended to correlate associations, predict violent incidents, and even help with global police cooperation and crime control. For example, several crime sprees in recent years are attributed to “incels” but one would need familiarity with social media culture to even know of the existence of these “involuntary celibates,” let alone understand their issues and motives.

Not only are users’ data harvested, but it is also sold. Tech managers sell real-time feed access to media and government for both domestic and international analyses of social issues. Their customers include businesses, manufacturers, and developers who want to predict emerging needs, develop new products, and manage existing brands. These new media listening tools look for keywords, hashtags, and photos, as well as locations, user information, and influences. Kodak, known for over a century for user-friendly cameras, recently announced, for example, that it would rebrand the company to better communicate the fact that it is now producing medical equipment. Social media presence is a key driver in such decisions.

They may all be getting to know you way better than you feel comfortable with.

In early 2019, President Trump signed an Executive Order, Executive Order on Maintaining American Leadership in Artificial Intelligence (February 11, 2019). Later that year, the FBI got funding to hire AI talent for its field offices, primarily to manage existing data streams but also possibly to enhance areas such as facial recognition, fingerprint identification, DNA matching, and insider threat identification. It will become more urgent than ever to be sure, as a society, what exactly we want our police forces to do.

Democrats Are Preparing the (Coup) Battlespace

By: Thomas Wigand | New Zeal

Going back as far as Sun Tzu’s The Art of War – circa 500 B.C. – military and political strategists have recognized the value of intelligence and propaganda in preparing for battle – and indispensable for that, preparing the field on which the battle will take place in order to maximize the odds of victory.

The “field of battle,” in turn, is not solely what we now call “kinetic,” involving the use of weapons on physical terrain.  Before, during and after a kinetic – and perhaps in lieu of kinetic conflict – the field of battle (or “battlespace” in the current lexicon) can involve the “hearts and minds” of an adversary population, and can even encompass an entire culture and its history (e.g., Cultural Marxism).

After all, if one can convince the adversary and its forces and people that “resistance is futile” – or even deserved (e.g., “systemic racism”) – one can win the war. Possibly without having to resort to kinetic measures at all, or just relatively minimal ones (e.g., Antifa).

We already know that the Deep State and its Democrat Party minions have attempted multiple coups in order to defeat President Donald Trump; first by preventing his election, and then attempting to expel him: Obamagate a/k/a Russiagate, followed by the impeachment Schiff-show.

Thus far their treasonous actions have been blessedly unsuccessful; the point is that it would be naïve to assume that such conspirators would not also work to form a coup to prevent his reelection.

In fact, it would be out of character for that evil kind, who now would be even more motivated to commit treason, since under a second Trump administration they likely (and deservedly) face severe forms of justice for their previous coup attempts (not to mention previous acts of immoral, unethical and criminal kinds).

Meanwhile, the risks if they execute a coup-like scheme to steal the election are manifold, including civil war.  This civil war may not involve secession of states, but patriots, American citizens rising up as counter-revolutionaries defending our Constitution from the coup plotters.

This is not hyperbole.  It is now inarguable that the Democrat Party is masquerading as a venerable and legitimate political party, yet serving as a front for revolutionaries – revolutionaries who are playing for all the marbles.

The ultimate identity and goals of the puppet-masters behind the revolution may someday become public.  Some believe them to be Marxists (Communists / Socialists).  Others believe that they are secretive, elite financiers pushing a globalist “new world order,” for whom the Marxists (Antifa / Black Lives Matter / Democrats) are mere tools, mere classic “useful idiots.”

This writer leans toward elite financiers intending a hybrid Progressive-Fascist (i.e., Corporatist) model controlling the entire globe.  One in which they control the multinational banks, multinational corporations and unelected NGO’s – that will “sustainably” control the global population in a reprise of feudalism, albeit “high tech” feudalism.

No matter who is controlling the revolutionary agenda, no matter their ultimate aims, our nationalist President Trump presents an existential threat to their plans – just as the continued existence of our Divinely-inspired nation as-founded presents an impenetrable roadblock to their (ultimately Satanic) plans.

So how do we know that they’re planning on stealing the election, and what might be their plan to accomplish that?

Engage people with what they expect; it is what they are able to discern and confirms their projections. It settles them into predictable patterns of response, occupying their minds while you wait for the extraordinary moment — that which they cannot anticipate. – Sun Tzu, The Art of War

Well, they have to condition the public in advance to “accept” the rationales they offer for their desired election result – for if the result appears to be too implausible, questions will be asked, and the resulting doubts may propel the counter-revolutionary forces.

But by engaging in this advance conditioning, they’ve had to compromise some operational security – and not just by their transparent push for universal mail-in balloting (that, as we’ll see, is but one element).

Conceal your dispositions, and your condition will remain secret, which leads to victory;  show your dispositions, and your condition will become patent, which leads to defeat. – Sun Tzu, The Art of War

Start with July 20, 2020, and Nancy Pelosi’s not-even-cryptic comments about “fumigating” Donald Trump out of the White House, and her being “second” (sic) in line for the Presidency: HERE

Then consider two separate pieces that appeared online on August 3, 2020.  First, an opinion piece by Professor Jonathon Turley, in which he stated:

Trump objected that a shift to mail-in voting will cause delays and challenges after Election Day. I have covered presidential elections as a legal analyst for several decades; each election has had challenges, including the lingering controversy over the 2000 Bush-Gore contest ultimately resolved by the Supreme Court. While we have long used absentee balloting, we have not used mail-in voting on such a massive scale. It will, inevitably, add a new layer of problems and potential challenges. Trump also is right that it will likely delay the final counting of votes.

There is every reason to be worried. We have a relatively short window for challenges and recounts before the Electoral College meets on Dec. 14 to certify the results. While that date also could be changed, it would soon collide with another statutory date — Jan. 6 — when Congress must meet to certify the results. There is a real possibility for floor fights on the certification of the votes from given states and the possible failure to certify some states caught up in litigation.

It is even possible that such challenges could continue to Jan. 20. What is not in doubt, however, is Trump continuing in office: On that day, he is no longer president unless he is reelected.

Indeed, for Trump, the only thing more nightmarish than losing would be if no duly elected president can be determined. Pelosi could theoretically become the acting president as the next in succession.

In other words, Donald Trump would not be President, and Mike Pence would not be Vice President (Pelosi mentally lumping them together would explain her “second in the line of succession” error).

Now consider this August 3, 2020 story from Big League Politics titled: “John Podesta ‘Refused to Concede’ In Democratic Election Wargame While Roleplaying as Joe Biden.”  The article reported thus:

One result of the election simulation wargame involved an electoral college simulation in which President Donald Trump secures a strong electoral vote victory while losing the popular vote to Biden, who was played by the former Clinton operative Podesta.

Podesta refused to concede the presidential election in that scenario, citing what he maintained was voter suppression in Wisconsin and Michigan. Podesta, within the confines of the scenario, convinced the governors of the states to send the votes of pro-Biden electors to the House in an attempt to inaugurate Biden as President, despite losing the states.

Mass fraud through mail-in ballots would ensure that the “popular vote” went to Biden.  Moreover, who’s to say that once the matter is in the House, someone other than Biden or his running mate would be selected?  For example, could the House have a deliberate impasse so as to default Nancy Pelosi into the Oval Office?

Yes, it sounds audacious, even unbelievable.  But then, before being exposed, so too would have the Obamagate and impeachment coup attempts.

The Democrats’ long-established mantra of deriding the Electoral College while falsely portraying “winning the popular vote” as the “legitimate” form of victory is one of the rationalizations that they have been using to condition the public; the recent (obviously false polls) showing Biden being ahead is more conditioning intended to render “plausible” that idea that Biden could actually win the popular vote.

Not to mention that the (misnamed) “mainstream” media is already peddling supporting talking points for the scheme.  For example: HERE

To translate from Pelosi and media-speak: Donald Trump using legitimate legal means to contest the Democrats’ desired election results will constitute him “refusing” to leave the White House. Again, more of the advance conditioning of the public, so that the elements of the coup’s execution won’t suddenly shock.  (Similar to how Adam Schiff falsely characterized President Trump’s legitimately accessing the court system in defending against the fraudulent impeachment scheme as “obstruction of justice.”)

We must accept the reality that we are already engaged in a non-kinetic civil war – after which our Constitutional republic will prevail, or will perish. The possibility remains that before the final outcome is determined, this civil war could go kinetic. God willing, we patriots will save our nation, and without a kinetic battle. Coupled with prayer, there is a way.

For the evil side’s electoral coup to ultimately succeed, it is critical that the rationalizations and fabrications being propagated to support it be seen as plausible by a critical mass of the people.  We are able to thwart that, and perhaps cut the coup off at its knees!

The wider the sharing of our suspicions and the sound reasoning behind it – particularly if we proactively do so before the election, so that our efforts aren’t portrayed as “bitter loser” conspiracy theories – the harder it will be for the Democrats to achieve a critical mass of the gullible.  Indeed, with enough light thrown upon their schemes, they might even be forced to abandon them altogether.

The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting. – Sun Tzu, The Art of War

So, for our Constitutional order to be saved, we must alert as many people as possible to this (at present) unprovable, but very probable Democrat-Deep State plot.  In this way, we might win without a battle (much less a second kinetic civil war).

Obama, China, and The Great Reset

By: Cliff Kincaid

In a 2007 address titled, “Rethinking the History and Future of the Communist Party,” the eminent left-wing historian Gerald Horne made two very important observations about what would take place in our country and world. First, he predicted the rise of Barack Hussein Obama and identified his mentor, Communist Party member Frank Marshall Davis. This was before Obama was elected to his first term. Then Horne predicted the rise of Communist China.

The outcome looks ominous. The establishment journal Foreign Affairs is out with an article that carries the title, “Beware the Guns of August — in Asia.” The author, Kevin Rudd, a former Prime Minister of Australia, says, “The once unthinkable outcome — actual armed conflict between the United States and China — now appears possible for the first time since the end of the Korean War.”

China’s rise was made possible by Obama. After eight years in office, Obama visited with Chinese dictator Xi in China, in a meeting of “veteran cadres,” or communist officials, discussing current events. “Xi made a positive appraisal of Obama’s efforts in promoting China-U.S. relations during his presidency,” said the Chinse press. It was more evidence, if we needed any, that Obama was a Marxist mole doing the bidding of China while he was in office.

The China virus now provides the springboard for what Obama and now Joe Biden are calling the “transformation” of the United States. Fear of the virus is driving many to accept this version of socialism in America. Trump has not been able to dispel the fear and has 90 days to turn around the perception that he has lost control of events.

If Trump does not succeed, plans will proceed on what globalists at the Rockefeller Foundation, Brookings Institution, World Economic Forum, and IMF are calling “The Great Reset,” a new term for achieving a United Nations-dominated New World Order.

The Plan

Regarding the future president, Barack Hussein Obama, Horne had said back in 2007, “At some point in the future, a teacher will add to her syllabus Barack’s memoir and instruct her students to read it alongside Frank Marshall Davis’ equally affecting memoir, ‘Living the Blues’ and when that day comes, I’m sure a future student will not only examine critically the Frankenstein monsters that US imperialism created in order to subdue Communist parties but will also be moved to come to this historic and wonderful archive in order to gain insight on what has befallen this complex and intriguing planet on which we reside.” He was speaking at the reception of the Communist Party USA archives at the Tamiment Library at New York University.

What Horne was predicting was not only the Obama presidency but the victory of communism in America – and the world.

But the media were not interested. Even the Drudge Report rejected my paid ads about the Obama-Davis relationship. The fix was in.

Obama, who served two presidential terms, is back in the news, using a John Lewis memorial service to raise the stakes in the political crisis. He suggested a Democratic Party takeover of the presidency and the Congress with changes to Senate rules, leading to statehood for Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C., and the packing of the Supreme Court with more liberal justices.

But with the release of the China virus, what Horne had to say about Communist China back in 2007 is worth reviewing.

Kissinger’s China Ploy Backfires

Horne quoted former New York Times columnist William Safire as saying before Richard Nixon died, that his “opening” to Mao’s China might backfire. “Before Nixon died,” Safire said, “I asked him – on the record – if perhaps we had gone a bit overboard on selling the American public on the political benefits of increased trade with China. That old realist, who had played the China card to exploit the split in the Communist world, replied with some sadness, that he was not as hopeful as he had once been: ‘We may have created a Frankenstein [monster],’ said Nixon.”

Horne understood that all the talk about conflict and divisions in the communist world, including the “collapse” of the Soviet Union, did not slow the advance of communism. Horne said that Nixon, thinking he was exploiting a split in the communist world between Moscow and Beijing, “exchanged one Communist antagonist in Moscow for a far larger, far stronger Communist antagonist in Beijing. Future dictionaries may well illustrate the definition of the phrase ‘Pyrrhic victory’ with a picture of Nixon’s trip to Beijing in 1972.”

All of this is true beyond doubt, as we see in the current headlines.

The idea that the Red Chinese were potential allies was sold by Secretary of State Henry Kissinger under President Nixon and adopted by our intelligence agencies. It was carried forward during the Clinton, Bush, and Obama Administrations and resulted in decades of cooperation with China, even in medical research.

A 1965 communist Chinese publication, “The Polemic on the General Line of the International Communist Movement,” was based on the perceived “differences” between the Chinese and Soviet Communist parties. These differences were real in the mind of a communist, since they always preach and practice ideological “struggle,” but irrelevant in terms of their ultimate goal. This is why former Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev would still, in the midst of glasnost and perestroika, declare his goal to be the ultimate triumph of world communism.

The Marxist Dialectic

Our 2015 book, The Sword of Revolution and the Communist Apocalypse, features an interview with a former U.S. intelligence agency official who explained how the Sino-Soviet split, a development in the strategy known as Marxist dialectics, deceived U.S. policymakers and weakened the Free World. His perspective was a dissenting view in the CIA and intelligence community bureaucracy.

Chinese Red Army Commander Lin Biao called Marxist dialectics, the communist ideology of struggle and deception, a spiritual atom bomb, far superior to the real thing. Lenin called it the living soul of Marxism. It was evident in the so-called Sino-Soviet split, under which world communism still remained the ultimate goal.

Unleashing the coronavirus and then claiming to be the world’s savior from it is an example of Marxist dialectics.

Gerald Horne’s 2008 book, Blows Against Empire, includes a chapter on China that has always excited the communists. They understood that China’s goal was always world domination, a fact just recently confirmed by FBI Director Christopher Wray but known for decades to anyone with a rudimentary understanding of communism.

In the Communist Party USA newspaper. Norman Markowitz reviewed the Horne book and wrote that China is too big and too strong to be the target of a “containment/encirclement” strategy, as was the case with the Soviet Union. He wrote, “Horne deals with a world in which the U.S. government and military are constantly frustrated by China’s refusal to toe its line, constantly seeking to make its rise anything but peaceful, China works with Iran and Venezuela. China maintains friendly relations with North Korea. While China is presented by U.S. media as an economic and potential military threat, the U.S. can’t really mobilize an economic and military bloc against it in Asia or globally, although it continues to try.”

In his 2008 article, Markowitz predicted that the U.S. would not be able to mobilize an ideological “holy war” against China because of China’s economic progress, power, and wealth.

At this point, according to the “official” statistics, the China virus has infected about 4.7 million Americans and killed more than 157,000. Equally important, government actions at the federal, state and local levels have decimated the American economy and thrown tens of millions of people out of work. With “The Great Reset,” the power grab goes global, with China taking advantage of the crisis it created.

On foreign policy, freedom in Hong Kong has been lost. The State Department seems preoccupied with China’s claims to the South China sea but it’s doubtful that the American people would support a war with China over these claims.

“Is Taiwan the next Hong Kong,” many are asking.

Increasingly, China looks like a Red Dragon gobbling up the world.

But the U.S. also has advantages, as noted by analyst J.R. Nyquist, such as arable land and considerable food exports, while a Department of Homeland Security report indicates that China is likely unable to replace U.S. soybean exports needed for meat consumption. Nyquist discusses these trends in the context of what is called the solar minimum, a cyclical weakening of the Sun’s electromagnetic field that results in changes in earth’s weather, including a shortened growing season and a significant decrease in world food production in countries like China.

This makes America, the leading food exporting country, a strategic and tempting target for communist control.
