Walt Minnick is a political opportunist extraordinaire. Yup I said it. There have been many who have alluded to this fact but none have come out and publicly said it. The most recent round of insinuations regarding this point is aimed at Minnick’s latest campaign ad. The ad has been called misleading by various organizations from factcheck.org to a prominent left leaning Idaho blogger. But the accusations are just symptoms of the actual problem. A closer look at Walt Minnick’s opportunistic behavior needs to occur so voters can understand who Minnick really is.
Minnick’s reputation of being a political opportunist can be traced back starting in 1996 when he switched from being an Independent (Minnick had left the Republican Party in 1974 believing that it had moved too far to the right despite his being a part of the Nixon Administration), to becoming a Democrat for his ill-fated race against then Senator Larry Craig. Having been recruited by Sen. Bob Kerry of Nebraska, Minnick wanted to run as an Independent but caved when Democratic Party members wanted to support a Democratic Party candidate to run against Craig.
Labrador is also in my conservative opinion a
political opportunist. When the Kennedy-McCain Amnesty failed in 2007, Lab tells the people they can pass the “Dream Act” Amnesty which would pay for select illegal alien students education via taxpayer money. And he also advocated for more H1-B visas so corporations can bring in more foreign workers with College degrees which would take the jobs of U.S. Citizens. Of course in an election year Lab says he is against “Amnesty” but fails to define what he is calling amnesty….of course John McCain in this election year, who is another political opportunist in my opinion is also against “Amnesty” even though he joined with Ted Kennedy in 2007 to try to pass what really was another “Amnesty”.
Talk about political opportunists…what about the win/win situation of Raul Labrador…
Labradore votes for a path to citizenship for illegal aliens, loses his seat, and then capitalizes on his vote by working as an immigration attorney to get all of the recently amnestied illegal aliens in Idaho (upwards of 100,000) legalized. We are talking millions here—wake up Idaho.
