Evidently, ‘Black America’ Doesn’t Get It

One Baltimore protester exclaimed to FOX News’ Geraldo Rivera, “I want to tell White America to stop not giving a damn about Black people.” And there you have it in a nutshell, the underlying sentiment trying to be vocalized by a violent, frustrated Black urban demographic that has taken to the streets in cities areas across America. There is just one thing wrong with that narrative. It is based in obliviousness of a cultural reality that has been prevalent for the last two to three generations. And it is truly sad.

I grew up in the 1960s. I remember full well the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The 1960s and the 1970s were decades of true and real change; change that reshaped and redefined American culture in many ways, some for the better, some for the worse. Those years gave way to the Civil Rights movement and the understanding of a need for gender equality, to name but a few of the good things that came from that era. But it also gave way to a degradation of the importance of personal responsibility, civility and a need to be a productive and positive member of a community.

During those years, children were taught to be painstakingly aware of what today would be referred to as racial privilege. In our schools and in our homes, Americans of all racial backgrounds began to understand, fully, the brilliance of the words of Civil Rights movement leaders, especially Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We were brought up – taught in our schools and by our parents – that we were to form our judgments of other people not on the color of their skin but on the conduct of their character. It made sense. And for at least two to three generations now that is the way White American children have been raised, the first of those generations now in their mid- to late-50s.

But where in the 1960s and 1970s, there was a real issue with racial disparity and discrimination, today we face a moment in time when an entire faction of American society – urban “Black America” – either won’t acknowledge or is incapable of acknowledging the fact that racial disparity and discrimination – societally and systemically, as history accurately recalls – has ceased to exist in the form they have been led to believe.

That sounds like a denial that racism exists in today’s culture. It is not. Rather, it is an observation – based in reality – that systemic racism and discrimination against Black Americans does not exist today, not in the form in which they are led to believe. Are there racists among us? Yes. That intellectually stunted way of thinking, sadly, will always be with us. It is human nature, and humans – no matter how dedicated Progressives are to perfecting the human race (even going so far as to practice eugenics, which is intrinsically detrimental to Black Americans) – will never reach perfection. But that societal malady is not systemic. It is a malady that affects individuals, not the entirety of cultures. Three generations of White Americans have been taught and conditioned to see past race; to see past the color of a person’s skin. Three generations have learned and benefited from a simple idea, that people should form opinions of other people based on their character, the actions, their deeds and the way they interact with others, not their skin color. But, evidently, sadly, urban “Black America” doesn’t seem to get this fact.

I don’t doubt that the person who made that statement truly believes in what he says. In fact, I am certain that he does. I am certain that he believes that every single White American that he passes on the street sees a difference between them. But that is a perception issue based on assumption, not a racial issue. And therein lays the crux of the problem we are facing today in Baltimore, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Ferguson and elsewhere. Entire urban Black American communities are judging the entirety of “White America” by the sins of eras past (even though over 600,000 men, mostly White, died in pursuit of eradicating slavery in the US Civil War) and by the intellectually stunted actions of individuals today. The sad irony in all of this is that Black America is judging White America by the color of their skin and not the content of its character. Black America – especially urban Black America – is being racist against White America. Where post-Civil Rights Movement White America has learned from the wisdom of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., it appears urban Black America has jettisoned his wisdom in preference to special interest racial privilege, at least in a macro sense.

Logic mandates that there is no possible way that one person can ever truly know what is in another person’s heart – regardless of their race – unless they engage them one-on-one. I would suggest that the man who made that comment has never taken the time to actually talk to the average “White American” about the issue; that he has never had an honest “conversation” about the issue outside of his own like-minded community. Instead, the person who made this statement has been conditioned by the opportunistic politicians and the permanently disgruntled to believe a false narrative, one that divides the nation along racial lines for the purposes of acquiring and maintaining power, and one that will be hard to remove from society unless we all – not just White Americans – start looking past skin color and more towards the character of all Americans, individually.

As for me, I will not be bullied back into the false narrative. I do not judge anyone on the color of their skin, nor do I know anyone, anywhere who does. It is an antiquated thought process that serves no good thing. Instead, I judge people on their actions, their deeds; the way they interact with others, whether they are kind and supportive or jaded, uncaring and indignant, whether they live by the rule of law, working to affect change through a peaceful process, or use violence to destroy, to bully, to intimidate and coerce…I judge them on their character.

Today, as I watch Baltimore burn, I can’t say much for the character of the urban Black American community. Their actions speak for themselves. They are, sadly, disappointingly, trapped in the death-cycle false narrative that institutional racism still exists in the United States…blind to the fact that they could, alternatively, truly be “free at last.”

Black Mom Changes Leftist Narrative on Violence

The reaction among responsible black and white law-abiding citizens to the black thugs rioting in Baltimore was captured by Toya Graham, the black mother who smacked her son around when she found him on the streets joining the attacks on police. Even liberals in the major media applauded her efforts.

“I don’t want him to be a Freddie Gray,” she told CBS News, referring to her son and the black youth who died under mysterious circumstances while in police custody.

CBS reported, “Graham, a single mom with six children, denounced the vandalism and violence against police officers. She said rioting in Baltimore is no way to go about getting justice for Freddie Gray and that she doesn’t want that life for her son.”

Graham then appeared on the CBS This Morning Show to discuss the incident and the struggle to raise her children.

The important teaching moment represented by this dramatic incident, a brief moment of sanity in the media, undercut the left-wing effort to somehow blame the police for the riots. As a result, the “progressives” had to go on the attack against the black mother.

Over at Think Progress, the blog of the pro-Obama Center for American Progress, Graham was attacked as a “misguided” mother who exercised bad judgment in holding her son accountable. Writer Kira Lerner said the issue was alleged police violence, not rioting in the streets by black youth.

She quoted a woman with a group opposed to “police brutality” as saying that “While she doesn’t condone the looting that was highlighted by the media in Baltimore Monday night, she said she understands where the violent protesters are coming from.”

Meanwhile, over at Hot Air, a piece by Noah Rothman ran under the headline, “Don’t let urban unrest derail conservative criminal justice reform.” While the riots were underway, he insisted that “a consensus opinion” had emerged on both the left and the right in favor of getting soft on criminals and letting more of them out of prison.

In the wake of what has happened in Baltimore and Ferguson, the Republican primary electorate might be tempted to embrace a “tough on crime” candidate, but “That would be a mistake,” Rothman informed Hot Air readers.

What’s more, he lectured them, the war on drugs has “failed” and there is no alternative to letting “non-violent offenders” out of prison.

In fact, the war on drugs did not fail. David Evans, a special advisor to the Drug Free America Foundation, notes that marijuana use went down among young people by 25 percent from the advent of the Reagan administration’s “Just Say No” campaign to the inauguration of President Obama. “If we had had a reduction in any other health problem in the U.S. of 25 percent, we would consider it an outstanding success,” he said.

Being “tough on crime” is precisely what many observers, including that courageous Baltimore mom, have concluded needs to be done in the inner cities.

Going soft was precisely what the Baltimore mayor, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, had done, accounting for the weak police response to the riots. Former police officer Michael Tremoglie points out that the Baltimore police knew that the mayor had said she wanted “protesters” protected and room furnished for them to “destroy,” and that “They knew that the DOJ [Department of Justice] was ‘monitoring’ what was occurring during the riots.”

Before he came to Hot Air, a site owned by Salem Communications, a Christian firm, Rothman had sung the praises of the pro-marijuana voices in the media such as MSNBC’s Touré. On another occasion, he had highlighted how comedian Kevin Hart and rapper Ice Cube had attacked commentator Nancy Grace’s anti-marijuana comments.

Hot Air, which claims to be the most heavily-trafficked conservative blog on the Internet, has emerged as a forum for pro-marijuana and soft-on-crime viewpoints, most of them articulated by Rothman, a former libertarian writer for Mediaite.

It is certainly true that the Rothman perspective on “criminal justice reform” has been embraced on the left.

As Accuracy in Media noted recently, in an article about a “criminal justice reform” conference held in Washington, D.C., there is a White House-directed effort to enlist conservatives to join with various progressive organizations to weaken laws against a series of violent and non-violent crimes.

Hillary Clinton joined the campaign on Wednesday, saying that “It’s time to end the era of mass incarceration.”

Some readers at Hot Air were astounded by the advice given by Rothman, who cited the Obama Justice Department as a reliable source of information on criminal justice issues, including alleged police violence.

One said, “Isn’t it great when we can come to Hot Air to read some halfwit ‘conservative’ columnist agree with Eric Holder about root causes?”

Another said, “I don’t think this is a very timely post. At least not whilst the animals are burning, looting, robbing, raping, killing each other and forming alliances with opposing gang bangers to destabilize the structure of society.”

Still another called attention to Heather MacDonald’s piece in the New York Post, “The Perilous New Push to Excuse Lawlessness,” as being “a hundred times better than Noah’s.” The writer said, “She’s an actual conservative who lived through the times when ‘law and order’ were questionable values, and conservatives had to fight hard to implement them.”

MacDonald had referred to “a wide-ranging movement [which] is already under way to transform the criminal justice system in order to avoid a disparate impact on blacks.” But since blacks commit a disproportionate amount of the crime, she said that fulfilling this promise “would require gutting murder statutes, and most other criminal laws,” and that the country’s two-decade-long crime drop would be in jeopardy.

Despite cities like Ferguson and Baltimore going up in flames and the rare story of a mother like Toya Graham making a plea for law-and-order, the liberal media are going to make sure that the movement for criminals’ rights that now operates under the goal of achieving “criminal justice reform” will get the lion’s share of the publicity.

Indeed, Jon Stewart’s “The Daily Show” just ran a favorable story about the “Coalition for Public Safety,” which is trying to make the ACLU sound like a reasonable organization conservatives can work with. Based on what was reported, it looks like some conservative groups are taking the bait.

Updated: did Freddie Gray have spinal surgery one week ago? Awaiting story

Conservative Treehouse is reporting that Freddie Gray, Jr., the man whose death in police custody set off this weekend’s Baltimore riots, may have had spinal surgery just one week earlier. Court records unearthed by the Fourth Estate describe a structured settlement with Allstate Insurance Co. which they allege came from a car accident Gray was involved in.

Another post just up by criminal justice expert John Cardillo however, challenges the idea that cited civil litigation arose from an auto accident. Gray was a defendant, not a plaintiff in this recent case, which Cardillo says stemmed from litigation launched in 2008 by Freddie’s sister over lead poisoning years earlier. Cardillo harshly criticizes Fourth Estate for “highly unethical and irresponsible” reporting, given what he reveals to be the facts of the referenced case.

For its part, Fourth Estate claims to be releasing a story today at 6 pm that will blow the whole issue wide open. It will be interesting to see what they publish. If their story has any basis in fact, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake will have a lot of explaining to do.

Blake has come under heavy fire for condoning the violence, specifically stating in a Saturday press conference that, in the interests of assuring “free speech rights” the city had given “those who wished to destroy, space to do that as well.” Now she says her words were “twisted.”

Meanwhile, Governor Hogan has taken over emergency operations, walking the city late at night and supervising the curfew Rawlings-Blake declared would start Tuesday, the day after all the violence and looting. He covered for Blake’s gross incompetence at a press conference, where CNN’s Don Lemon grilled him — but not Blake — for not declaring a state of emergency and bringing in the National Guard sooner.

Of course that was all up to Blake, and she declined to ask for help until the city was already on fire, presumably having given the rioters all the “free speech” they needed, plus every other thing that wasn’t nailed down to boot. When Blake finally requested a state of emergency, “Within 30 seconds of receiving the call, I activated the National Guard,” Hogan said.

Yesterday, Martin Luther King’s niece, Dr. Alveda King, called for Blake’s resignation. Dr. King stated in a letter to the mayor:

Your invitation to “give space for those who want to destroy” is unbelievable. This interpretation of rights to free speech is dangerous ma’am. In 1963, my father Rev. A.D. King, after the firebombing of our home in Birmingham, Ala. urged hostile protestors to abandon violence and turn to God in prayer instead.

Thank God they listened to him, and the even greater voice of his brother, my Uncle Martin Luther King during those turbulent days. Now, you are inviting violence to your city? Who ma’am, will incur the moral and economic costs of picking up the pieces? The innocent taxpayers?

Thank you Dr. King. When are liberals ever going to be forced to face the consequences of their disastrous policies, ideologies, and decisions? I guarantee you they will have to be forced, because not one will ever admit their destructive actions voluntarily. Instead, Blake is arrogantly denying she ever encouraged the rioters. And gratitude for Larry Hogan? Perish the thought. She has barely spoken to him, content with hiding out among friends to avoid the embarrassing limelight while he cleans up her disastrous mess.

Updated: Baltimore mayor decries violence after deliberately encouraging it

Blake explains her authorization for violence

At the outset of the riots that are now sweeping Baltimore, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake held a press conference, telling reporters that the city was allowing violence in an effort to make sure rioters were able to “exercise their right to free speech” and to defuse the situation. “It’s a very delicate balancing act, because while we tried to make sure that they [meaning the rioters, not the victims] were protected from the cars and the other things that were going on, we also gave those who wished to destroy, space to do that as well…” she said. She thought that would put the city in “the best position to deescalate.”

Under orders, police held back and did nothing while rioters engaged in repeated acts of violence, including smashing car windows, destroying police cars and attacking individuals and private businesses. More than a dozen police have been injured, some seriously. This was the mayor’s idea of respecting the rioters’ First Amendment rights.

How is it possible that anyone could be so delusional, so mind-numbingly stupid, so utterly incompetent, that they would believe allowing rioters to go nuts would somehow pacify them? Predictably, they took her encouragement as opportunity for even more violence and widespread looting. The city is burning and the governor has declared a state of emergency. Now she is calling those very same people, thugs.

Now she is saying she never told anyone to destroy the city. Well perhaps she didn’t specifically say destroy “our whole city”. How nice of her. But the fact that she is denying her earlier statement with the video there for anyone to see, reveals just how utterly unfit she is for leadership. It borders on the delusional.

Last night she announced a curfew from 10 pm to 5 am starting, oddly, tonight. Why did the curfew not start last night, when people were still rioting and looting everywhere? Was she talking out of both sides of her mouth – letting them wreak havoc while pretending to become sensible? Was she continuing to let them exercise their “free speech rights” by destroying the city?

This is worse than incompetence. It is gross malfeasance in office. Martin Luther King’s niece, Dr. Alveda King, called Mayor Blake’s statement, “unbelievable,” and asks, “Who ma’am, will incur the moral and economic costs of picking up the pieces? The innocent taxpayers?” A good question. Thank you, Dr. King.

Dr. King has asked for Blake’s resignation, but don’t look for that happening anytime soon. For her to do so would imply some level of personal ethics. Perish the thought.

Stephanie Rawlings-Blake personifies the entitlement mentality that has ruined inner cities throughout the U.S. The wild, defiant and often violent behavior of criminals in this city is enabled and encouraged by an attitude always looking to blame someone else. We don’t know how or why Freddie Gray was injured, or what killed him, though it doesn’t look good for the police. We do know he was a career criminal with a record of violent crime and drug arrests.

Perhaps the mayor should consider why, despite astronomical taxes and every social welfare program known to man, Baltimore remains a cesspool of unemployment, crime and drugs. It is at least in part because the city continues to elect idiots like Blake. This is the same mayor who, while encouraging blacks to express their frustration through violence, has welcomed illegal aliens with open arms, stealing away black jobs and black businesses.

The residents of these places will not get “justice” until they figure out that their problems are their problems, and until they face them nothing will change. Continually re-electing clowns who publicly justify errant behavior while screwing the residents every which way from Sunday will only encourage more.

Baltimore Explodes – Part Deux – Rampage

A state of emergency has been declared in Baltimore and the National Guard was activated yesterday as things spiraled out of control after the Freddie Gray funeral. This follows a riot on Saturday that was the beginning of what I fear is a very, very violent summer.

I understood from reports yesterday that somewhere between 1,000 and 3,500 Maryland police officers were on the lines, as well as the National Guard and 5,000 officers from neighboring states that were called in to be on standby. This is beginning to look a lot like the riots in Baltimore after MLK was assassinated in 1968. What really touched me on this yesterday was seeing a pastor standing in front of the police by himself warding off the thuggish protestors. Then later in the evening, pastors and leaders marched down the street, while talking to young men trying to diffuse the explosive scenario playing out.

All of this started out as anti-police protests and the outcry over the death of Freddie Gray, who was arrested by police on April 12th and died a week later of a fatal spinal cord injury. 80% of his spinal cord was severed and the van carrying him gave him a rough ride to the police station, stopping three times on the way. They say that Gray stared at police and then took off on his bike and that was why he was arrested. I know the young man had a rap sheet, but if that is the case, there is no excuse for his arrest and certainly none for the way he was handled and killed. That does not excuse these riots which I feel are orchestrated for another agenda entirely by Marxists and Islamists.

Now riots are blooming and not just in Baltimore. Atlanta and New York are next on the violence parade of hits.

Fifteen police officers were hurt yesterday. The protestors threw huge bricks and rocks at them. Many suffered broken bones and one is still unresponsive. Two are in serious condition.

I watched a CVS Pharmacy get looted and burned. So did a Subway sandwich shop and a check cashing store. The rioters punctured the firefighter’s hose to that CVS fire, trying to make it worse. A $16 million nursing home built by a Baptist church, which was due to open in December after eight years of construction, has been burned to rubble on the city’s east side as violence spread from the west of the city. Just two blocks away, a housing development was also ablaze.

Many of these may have in fact been diversions to pull emergency services away from the west side of the city, in order to facilitate the continued looting of gun stores, check cashing stores, liquor stores and supermarkets well into Tuesday morning. Balaclava-clad mobs were seen ripping the doors off one rifle shop and passing weapons to people on the streets.

Families began to apply self-imposed martial law. They were terrified and fled their homes as raging fires spread block to block. All this after the governor took far too long to activate the National Guard and the mayor spouted the insane idiocy of letting the looters have room to destroy stuff.

Reminiscent of Saturday night, the protestors made their way to Camden Yards Stadium. The game there last night was suspended. Just as the mall was closed down at 1 pm and the CVS Pharmacy was closed as well. Good thing as it was looted and burned to the ground. The University also told all students to remain in their dorms and all schools are closed today, which will now allow the students to really be out en force. I don’t think they give a crap about any curfew declared.

There were over 2,500 at Gray’s funeral including civil rights leaders. A few hours later, rioters (mostly high school students to begin with) started throwing rocks at the police. Not all police were in riot gear, the ones that weren’t stood behind those that had the gear on. Things really got rolling at about 3 pm – there was a meme online calling for a purge to begin at 3 pm and like a flash mob, the students gathered and started getting violent. It’s as if it was practiced and rehearsed. I actually believe it was. It’s being claimed by media that police threw rocks at the protestors to fuel the conflict, which just sounds ridiculous to me. They may have thrown them in retaliation. Store owners were dragged out of their stores and beaten by these thugs, before their stores were looted and burned.

On Monday morning, three of the city’s most violent and dangerous gangs – Black Guerrilla Family, Crips and Bloods – announced an unprecedented alliance to ‘take out’ law enforcement officers, in a move that has prompted fears for police safety across the country. It is said that each gang planned to kill one police officer. BFG sports some of the city’s most violent criminals. The man who killed two NYPD cops in December last year, Ismaaiyl Brinsley, was believed to have ties to the deadly group. But even with all this going on, a Bloods member pulled a Baltimore Sun Journalist to safety during a fight. That was the exception. Earlier in the day, the Bloods and the Crips linked arms with the Nation of Islam leaders. If you haven’t figured it out yet… Islamists who sympathize with ISIS and Marxists are behind this chaos. It’s orchestrated for maximum violence.

The cops were obviously overwhelmed and outnumbered. They were actually in retreat as rocks were thrown at them. The National Guard won’t even come out until today and just as in Ferguson, it is way too late.

LA is now prepping for the worst. The LAPD has ordered all officers to work in pairs after violent gangs issued ‘credible threats’ to ‘take out’ law enforcement. A ‘blue alert’ was issued across the California city on Monday amid fears people across the country will attempt ‘revenge attacks’ on police for the death of Freddie Gray. Protests are scheduled for Atlanta and New York City on Wednesday.

From the Washington Times:

Law enforcement intelligence officials have put out a warning that someone has sent a text calling on people to kill “all white police officers” in reaction to the death of Freddie Gray while in Baltimore police custody, raising fears violence could spread nationally, according to safety memos obtained by The Washington Times.

Officers are being warned of possible ambushes and urged to change travel patterns and to tone down clothes or emblems that identify them as police.

The Baltimore police department separately put out a press release on Monday saying various gangs, including the Black Guerrilla Family, Bloods and Crips “have entered into a partnership to ‘take out’ law enforcement.”

A memo from the West Virginia Intelligence Fusion Center is more specific, saying the gangs’ targets are white officers. Its report quotes another memo from the Eastern Shore Information Center in Salisbury, Md.

“Law enforcement officers are reminded to remain vigilant when conducting traffic stops and in general contact with citizens,” says the West Virginia center, which monitors criminals.

The Eastern Shore center “officer safety bulletin” states that the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office received information from a citizen who received a text with a Chicago area code.

The text said, “Kill all white police officers!! As many as you can!! Bunch of thugs with badges!!”

The Eastern Shore center took the text seriously enough to send out a warning to officers.

The guidance states, “Law enforcement officers are encouraged to remain vigilant when conducting traffic stops or other ‘routine’ contacts with citizens. Officers should be mindful of suspicious calls for service that maybe be conducive of an ambush.”

Enter Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson – both are now in the mix and Sharpton vows to lead a march. Black leaders wish he would just go back home and leave an already tense situation alone.

In the end, the rioters were threatening anyone who was not black. It was as racist as it gets. A race war is brewing and I believe that is exactly what Obama and company want. The Baltimore mayor’s office says there were 144 vehicle fires, 15 structures fires and nearly 200 arrests in the unrest that broke out in the city. There were also arrests and protests in Ferguson, Missouri. More to come definitely.

Baltimore literally exploded in violent protests last night as a few hundred #BlackLivesMatter goons shut down the city for some time. They managed to pen up 36,000 Baltimore Orioles fans within their stadium at Camden Yards as they rampaged through the streets, duking it out with bystanders. It’s being claimed that they originally meant for the protests to be peaceful… right. But people shouldn’t fret… President Barack Obama partied down at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner just 50 miles away while all hell was breaking loose. They must have been celebrating the chaos.

That’s their idea of peaceful? Fans from Bullpen Bar, Pickles Pub and Sliders Bar & Grill didn’t take too kindly to the mayhem and a brawl ensued. These thugs just destroyed things for the hell of it and attacked people because they were white. It’s shameful. Talk about racism – this is raw racism on the other side. They smashed out store windows and looted to their little black heart’s content. This is exactly why Trevor Loudon and I both believe this could be the most violent summer on record – an American Spring is blooming with hatred. You can hear chants of “F*ck the police!” and literally feel the tension in the air.

All this was supposedly due to the arrest and death of Freddie Gray, who died from spinal injuries last Sunday after his encounter with the police two weeks ago.

“In a press conference Friday, officials acknowledged Gray should have received medical help at the moment of his arrest, when he was seen by bystanders — and caught on video — howling in apparent pain,” AFP wrote, providing the background of the simmering tensions in the mid-Atlantic port town. “They also revealed that Gray, contrary to police department policy, was not buckled into his seat in the van, which made at least three unexplained stops on its way to the Western District police station. Gray died Sunday with 80 percent of his spine severed at the neck, lawyers for his family have said. His funeral is scheduled for Monday. Six officers have been suspended with pay as the police investigation inches closer to a May 1 deadline to submit findings to a Maryland state prosecutor, who could decide to press charges.”

If true, there is no excuse for how this was handled. But it doesn’t excuse the behavior of the rioters. The whole peaceful protest thing suddenly flashed into a riot, where innocent bystanders were being threatened and brutalized. Then it got even more violent. Beer bottles and cans started to be thrown at fans… cars were smashed… As people looked on, the crowd of protesters stopped a blue station wagon that was carrying a white family as they tried to drive past Pickles, Bullpen and Sliders along a narrow one-way stretch between the bars and the main road. A whole pack of these animals pounded on the car, while blocking it from driving by and standing in front of it. The family was terrified. They backed up to try and flee. They were blocked again and the savages ripped open the passenger door and breached the inside of the vehicle. People, including police officers, just stood and watched. As suddenly as they had attacked the car, the protestors backed off and the people in the car fled the scene with their lives intact thankfully. They were very lucky.

The whole scene morphed into a war zone. Metal barricades were thrown aside and at police. People were yelling at the police, “Why aren’t you doing anything? They’re hurting people! They’re hurting people! They’re violent!” But the police just watched as the crowd got their violence on.

Police helicopters started buzzing the skies around the stadium. As the game was coming to a close, an announcement came over the loudspeaker to the fans that the mayor of Baltimore, due to a public safety emergency outside, had “asked” everyone inside to stay in the stadium and not try to leave. That gentle request was enforced and they were locked behind the gates. At the very last minute, just after 10 pm, the ban was lifted by the mayor and everyone was allowed to leave. But it was a stark reminder of how fast things can change for the worse.

A rally of 2,000 protestors had gathered earlier in the day. The police kept Twittering that they were trying to respect and protect the rights of the protestors. But that didn’t stop the riots, looting and chaos. A wireless store and a 7-Eleven convenience store were looted, according to a CBS Baltimore reporter. At least two people were injured and twelve were arrested. Over 300 police officers were dispatched and there is video of them storming down the streets. Police in riot gear drove the protestors back and around 10 pm they started to disperse. I would wager this is not over by a long shot.

The University of Maryland, Baltimore, which is north of the stadium, issued a shelter in place warning for students as demonstrations turned violent because of ‘civil disturbances’ in the area.

It advised students and faculty not to come to campus.

Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake posted on her Twitter account: ‘Thx 2 those who have worked to press for peace during these protests. Concerned about the violence and those who want to destroy our city.’

During a press conference she said that a ‘small group of agitators’ turned the demonstrations violent, according to NBC Baltimore.

Fredericka Gray, the twin sister of Freddie Gray who spoke to the public for the first time, urged demonstrators not to be violent and said ‘Freddie would not want this’.

‘Can ya’ll please, please stop the violence?’ she said.

The funeral for Freddie Gray, who died April 19 after suffering a fatal spinal injury while in police custody, was announced for Monday.

These so-called social justice warriors were touting signs with catchy slogans such as ‘Jail Killer Police!’ and ‘Unite Here!’ The protestors marched 2 miles to City Hall, where they invaded the grassy plaza adjacent to the building. One woman took a page from Obama’s race-charged propaganda, saying ‘I looked at my son,’ she said, ‘and thought ”that is my son.’ Dozens of protestors even laid down in the street in an impromptu ‘die-in.’ How very Occupy.

And what would a #BlackLivesMatter protest be without Malik Shabazz of the Black Lawyers for Justice. Yes, that Shabazz… of the New Black Panther Party and the Nation of Islam. Clenched fist in the air, he was there to tout racism full bore.

They knocked her down and stole something from her… thankfully a police officer chased them down and got it back. It could have been much, much worse.

In a spectacle of utter stupidity and craven cowardice, Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings thanks ISIS advocates (The Nation of Islam) for their support… No wonder everything is falling apart if this is who we have leading us.

The “Bloods” and “Crips” gangs were there as well, working together with the Nation of Islam. Note the Nation of Islam giving the extended forefinger salute representing allegiance with ISIS.

This looks like the beginning of a very violent, chaotic summer in which a European and an American Spring both have the potential to ignite, bringing much more violence into our streets and pressure from our government.
