Austin Democratic Socialists of America: Warning us of dangers ahead

By: Trevor Loudon | New Zeal

Austin Democratic Socialists of America are a force to be reckoned with in and around Texas’ capital city.

With 450 to 500 members and control of the local Texas State Employees Union, Austin DSA comrades have huge influence inside the Travis and Bexar County Democratic Parties. At last year’s DNC, about 55 delegates were DSA members, including about 40 percent of Sanders’ delegates from Texas. Given DSA’s explosive growth (6,500 to 20,000 comrades in one year), Marxist influence inside the Democratic Party can only increase.

Local Representative Lloyd Doggett has long been a DSA ally, but is not the only elected official in the socialists camp.

In a  down-ballot election victory in December 2016, Austin DSA member and Bernie Sanders delegate to the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Julie Ann Nitsch won her runoff for Austin Community College Board of Trustees.

DSA Members Glenn Scott, Julie Ann Nitsch, and Claudia Corum

According to Austin DSA Co-Chair Danny Fetonte, “DSA members provided the foot soldiers for the campaign.” Nearly 300 DSAers staffed phone banks, attended Democratic Clubs and union meetings with Nitsch, block walked, did mailings, and put up signs at member’s homes and at friendly businesses.

Next up,  Austin DSA is throwing its weight behind another member, Rick Trevino, who is running for City Council in neighboring San Antonio.

Rep. Lloyd Doggett is lending his support.

DSA’s immediate goal is to turn Texas blue. Since late 2016, DSA Marxists have opened new chapters in Dallas/Fort Worth/Houston, the Brazos Valley and the Permian Basin.

Given the way the Electoral College works, if Texas – with its 34 votes – can be flipped to the Democrate column (as Red State strongholds Colorado and Virginia already have been), there will never be another Republican President.

We need to pay attention to the massive Marxist movement into the Red States. That is where real change is happening. If this quiet insurgency is not exposed and reversed, we will all be flat-footed and dumbstruck as the left establishes a one party state in America in 2020 or 2024.

Brad Crowder

Brad Crowder is a leader of the Austin Socialist Collective, the Austin, Texas branch of Socialist Alternative, an organization “dedicated to the advancement of socialist, independent working-class politics.”

In September 2008, as the Republican Party kicked off its national convention in St. Paul, Minnesota, David McKay and Bradley Crowder, a pair of activists from Midland, Texas traveled to the city.

St. Paul was their first large-scale protest, “and when they arrived they were taken aback: Rubber bullets, flash-bang grenades, tumbling tear-gas canisters—to McKay and Crowder, it seemed like an all-out war on democracy. They wanted to fight back, even going so far as to mix up a batch of Molotov cocktails.”

Just before dawn on the day of Sarah Palin’s big coming out speech, a SWAT team working with federal agents raided their crash pad, seized the Molotovs and arrested McKay, alleging that he intended to torch a parking lot full of police cars.

After taking a plea bargain, Crowder was sentenced to two years in federal prison.

Lloyd Doggett: Texas Representative finally comes out of the socialist “closet”

By: Trevor Loudon | New Zeal

Rep. Lloyd Doggett

Lloyd Doggett, a long time Texas congressman from the Austin/San Antonio area, has finally come out of the socialist “closet.”

Dogget has held office as a legislator in the Texas State Senate and served as a justice on the Texas Supreme Court, before being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1994.

Now after more than 20 years in Congress,  Representative Doggett has finally joined the socialist Congressional Progressive Caucus.

Founded in 1991 by the Marxists of Democratic Socialists of America and their decades-long ally Bernie Sanders, the Progressive Caucus is now 74 members strong and is far and away the most powerful faction in the Democratic Party.

DSA backed Lloyd Doggett before he was even a congressman.

In July 1984, Houston DSA members decided to support that year’s election campaign, by then State Senator Lloyd Doggett.

According to the August 1984 newsletter of the Houston Democratic Socialists of America:

At the July meeting we decided that DSA should provide identifiable DSA campaign workrs to the Lloyd Doggett campaign this Fall.

Sen. Doggett is certainly a candidate we can all support enthusiastically…

If you would like to be a DSA Doggett volunteer, call Bruce Griffiths at….

But Rep. Doggett would never openly support DSA’s congressional front group.

In 2014, DSA front group Progressive Democrats of America assigned activists to deliver their material to almost every US Congressman and Senator, Tim Duda, a one time leader of San Antonio Democratic Socialists of America, was assigned as the contact for Rep. Doggett.

Since 2015, DSA’s Austin local has re-formed and is now several hundred members strong. It has huge influence in the Travis County Democratic Party and has forged a strong alliance with Rep. Doggett, partially through its front group, the Austin local of Texas Alliance for Retired Americans.

Doggett with Danny Fetonte, Texas Alliance for Retired Americans and Democratic Socialists of America

Dogget, and Glenn Scott, Texas Alliance for Retired Americans, Democratic Socialists of America

According to DSA member Glenn Scott, President of the Austin Chapter of Texas Alliance for Retired Americans:

“Austin Reports a Terrific Medicare Event”, June 2015;

We had a terrific event on Saturday. We have put Austin TARA on the Austin/Central Texas political and advocacy map! Over 147 people attended the event which means we met our goal of 150! In part due to Congressman Doggett’s great reputation, we brought in many new faces. We went well beyond the TARA contact list for this event.

We built stronger ties with labor groups through this event. At least 8 unions or CLC and Building trades council contributed $. One key to turnout was our list of over 30 endorsing organizations. Most of the endorsing organizations sent at least 1 or 2 and some brought as many as 8 to 10. Austin DSA got 10 members there and TSEU brought the most with at least 12 or more. Congressman Doggett’s staff was another factor, – they did a letter to constituents and sent emails and did press for us in addition to our own efforts…

Maybe Rep. Doggett feels that his DSA comrades have more than earned his open support? Maybe after more than 30 years in public office, it’s time for Lloyd Doggett to nail his socialist colors to the mast?

Texas Marxist wins Community College Board of Trustees election: Socialism growing rapidly in “Lone Star” state

By: Trevor Loudon | New Zeal

One more Marxist wins office in Texas…a trickle that must be stemmed before it becomes a tide.

In a surprisedown-ballot election victory, Austin Democratic Socialists of America member and Sanders campaign activist, Julie Ann Nitsch, won her runoff for Austin Community College Board of Trustees on December 13th, running as a Democrat.

Nitsch started her campaign at a clear disadvantage, lacking name recognition or a political resume. She had never held a public office, or served on any local boards or commissions. Meanwhile, her strongest opponent had served as ACC trustee for the previous 6 years, had a long resume of community activism, and received endorsements from most local Democratic elected officials and leaders.

But Nitsch did have the strong backing of a huge Bernie movement in Central Texas, a DSA chapter whose large membership provided over 100 block walkers and phone bankers, and the full support of Our Revolution (the national organization that grew out of the Sanders campaign) in the runoff election.

After volunteering for the Sanders campaign in the summer of 2015, Nitsch became the Campaign Coordinator of Texans for Bernie for Travis County and, later, one of five Austin DSA comrades who served as Sanders delegates at the DNC.

Nitsch’s progressive vision and strong support base made for a vigorous, people-powered campaign.

Our Revolution also played a pivotal role in Nitsch’s victory. They sent over 51,000 text messages and made over 13,000 calls to supporters during the campaign. According to volunteers, many of the people that voted for Nitsch did so as a direct result of Our Revolution’s concerted efforts.

The Texas Democratic Party is being heavily infiltrated by Democratic Socialists of America Marxists, who are enjoying explosive growth on the back of the Sanders Presidential campaign and the anti-Trump movement.

In recent months, DSA has opened locals all over Texas, from Dallas to El Paso, Houston to the Brazos Valley and San Antonio.

DSA locals, DSA website, 01.26.2017

Backed by union muscle and money, much of it from out of state, DSA aims to play a major role in the left’s rapidly expanding campaign to turn Texas blue.

This Marxist activism in the heart of Red State Texas should neither be ignored or underestimated. If Texas can be flipped back to the Democrats, there will never be another Republican or conservative President. America as we know it will be over.

Background Checks and Fingerprints

By: T F Stern | T F Stern’s Rantings

checks1Recently the State of Texas altered the requirements for the renewal process licensed locksmiths must complete in order to continue applying their skills in what used to be a free market system.  The Department of Public Safety/Private Security Bureau, (DPS/PSB) working under their interpretation of HB 4030 passed during the 84th session, has determined that locksmiths must haveyet another set of official fingerprints submitted along with a complete background check in order to maintain a valid locksmith license.

While visiting my father, holding his aging hand as we watched some insignificant golf show on the television, I noticed his fingers were a bit discolored as his circulatory system no longer functioned at peak efficiency. It’s just a guess; but you could bet the farm the fingerprints on his hands would be the same ones he’s had since birth, the same ones he had when he signed up with the Navy in WWII and the same ones he’ll have when he meets St. Peter on the other side of the veil.

Some where in Washington, as the singer Arlo Guthrie would point out in his tune, Alice’s Restaurant, there’s a study in black and white of his fingerprints…

These identifying marks don’t change all that much over time so it’s beyond my thought process as to why the State of Texas considers it necessary, requiring locksmiths to furnish a fresh set of these prints simply to renew a license… a license which has that very same set of fingerprints already tied to it and filed away collecting dust.

About the only thing such a requirement does is add $25.00 to the cost of doing business for each and every locksmith while accomplishing absolutely nothing towards the State of Texas’ goal, “protection of the public through fair and impartial regulation of the Private Investigations and Private Security Industry”

Then there’s the requirement of another complete and thorough background check in order to maintain an already issued locksmith license; that bothers me too.  Actually, the veins in my neck are pulsing and may explode while thinking about this.

checks2The State of Texas conducts a complete and thorough background check of each individual prior to issuing a locksmith license.  If the State wants to find out whether or not a licensed locksmith has committed a noteworthy criminal act since the last time he/she went through the licensing process then all the State’s investigators would have to do would be to bring up a standard criminal check on their computer, not much different than the way police officers are able to find out the same information while on patrol; it takes only a minute, sometimes less.

If someone can explain why the State of Texas considers locksmiths…locksmiths who’ve already been fingerprinted, had their background checked six ways to Sunday and then issued a license…if someone can explain why the State of Texas considers locksmiths a threat or danger to the public…  Could you hand me my blood pressure medicine; those veins are swelling some more.

Yesterday I received an email from the DPS/PSB letting me know my latest renewal efforts were finally accepted and that my pocket sized wallet card would be sent in a timely manner.

Do you see why the updated renewal process bothers me?

Tom Wakely: Stealth Marxist Runs for Congress from San Antonio

By: Trevor Loudon | New Zeal

Tom Wakely, a member of the US’ largest Marxist organization, Democratic Socialists of America is running as a Democrat for Congress in Texas’ 21st District.

Mmmmooooo

It’s highly unlikely he will be successful. The 21st Congressional District, which covers northern San Antonio, last elected a Democrat in 1974. Wakely won the Democratic nomination with 59% of the vote and will face Republican Lamar Smith in the general election.

Wakely is a “card carrying” Democratic Socialists of America member, a fact that he has yet to feature in his campaign literature. How many Democratic voters in the 21st will have any idea they are voting for a Marxist?

That won’t matter to the Gramsci-loving DSA communists. The only way they will ever achieve power is by stealth and deception. The voters are too stupid to knowingly vote for socialism…so they must be tricked into voting for what’s good for them.

Buoyed by the huge success of the Bernie Sanders campaign, and a big influx of new members, DSA has renewed their efforts to infiltrate the Democratic Party all over the country. 40% of Texas’ Sanders delegates to the recent DNC in Philadelphia were DSA members. Several covert DSA comrades have stood in Democratic races this election cycle, from New York and Oregon, to North Carolina and Maine, including Oklahoma state representative candidate Billy Hinton.

Most are long shots, but this year’s efforts are really a trial run for 2018 and 2020, when DSA and others in the Sanders movement want to have a big impact on Congress and state legislators. They essentially want a complete takeover of the Democratic party and to flood Congress with fellow Marxists.

Tom Wakely was born in San Antonio, Texas and raised in a traditional Catholic family. He graduated from Alamo Heights High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force shortly thereafter.

After his discharge from the military, Wakely joined socialist Cesar Chavez‘s Texas Farmworkers Union campaign.

Wakely was recruited by the DSA-dominated SEIU to organize hospital workers in Denver, Colorado. Two years later, he was in Milwaukee, Wisconsin working as a business agent for an independent union that represented Wisconsin Gas and Wisconsin Power employees.

After returning to Texas, Wakely and his wife ran a wine bar and jazz club, then managed a local hospice.

Tomop

Wakely’s major endorsement has come from the Texas Alliance for Retired Americans Austin local, which is led by DSA comrades Glenn Scott and Danny Fetonte.

Tom Wakely may admit his DSA membership on the DSA website, but he’s certainly not public about it.

Tom Wakely and his DSA comrades need to be called out publicly for their dishonest tactics. If you’re going to run for office, comrade Wakely, why not tell the people you’re a Marxist? Let them make a an informed choice. Is that too much to ask?

REVOLT: Judge Blocks Obama’s Insane Bathroom Directive

By: Terresa Monroe-Hamilton

Thank God for Texas! There’s a sane federal judge in the Lone Star state that has blocked Obama’s insane edict on transgenders and bathrooms in public schools. He took a solid stance in opposition to the president’s mandate that a student should be able to choose the bathroom they wish to use based on their chosen gender preference rather than reality. Figures it would take a Texan with a set to stand against this Marxist bullcrap.

As excited kids headed back for a new school year this morning, they were informed that they should use the bathroom that coincides with their anatomical differences determined at birth. I’m sure students for the most part were relieved by this and radical liberals were ticked off. Schools should be allowed to weigh in on this and have a say. You cannot separate common sense and morality from the public school system… regardless of what liberals think.

Bathrooms

From TheBlaze:

AUSTIN, Texas (TheBlaze/AP) — A federal judge in Texas has blocked the Obama administration’s directive to public schools that transgender students must be allowed to use the bathrooms and locker rooms coinciding with their chosen gender identity rather than their biological sex.

On Monday — the first day of class for most public schools in Texas — hundreds of school districts awoke to news of the order by U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor.

On Sunday, O’Connor ruled that the federal education law, Title IX, “is not ambiguous” about sex being defined as “the biological and anatomical differences between male and female students as determined at their birth.” O’Connor concurred with Texas Republican state leaders who argued that schools should have been allowed to weigh in on the directive.

Texas is leading 12 other states in taking a stance against Obama and his unconstitutional mandate. The Texas-led lawsuit was filed in May alongside Alabama, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Utah and Georgia. It also included the Republican governors of Maine, Mississippi and Kentucky. Two small school districts in Arizona and Texas — which have fewer than 600 students combined and no transgender persons on their campuses — also joined the effort to prevent the directive from being enforced.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton issued a statement hailing the judgement:

We are pleased that the court ruled against the Obama Administration’s latest illegal federal overreach. This President is attempting to rewrite the laws enacted by the elected representatives of the people, and is threatening to take away federal funding from schools to force them to conform. That cannot be allowed to continue, which is why we took action to protect States and School Districts, who are charged under state law to establish a safe and disciplined environment conducive to student learning.

That is exactly what Texas and the other states are doing… they are protecting their students, who, should this mandate be implemented, would find themselves at the mercy of deviants and sexual predators. School would no longer be a remotely safe haven for our children and grandchildren.

Paxton pointed out that it was necessary to block the directive and its enforcement before school commenced, or the schools would risk losing federal funding because of non-compliance. Obama has made it clear that schools who oppose his mandate “are clearly on notice” and they must follow his order or lose that funding. Personally, I would tell him to stuff his funding and find another way. I believe that all schools should be privately held and not take anything from the federal government. But that’s just me. Texas receives approximately $10 billion a year in federal funds.

The Department of Education and Department of Justice did not immediately react to the injunction. Oh, but they will. This sets precedent and you can bet there will be a massive, harsh response.

This all started last May when the federal government decreed that transgender students must be allowed to use bathrooms and locker rooms in accordance with their gender identity. This followed the Justice Department’s lawsuit over a North Carolina state law requiring people to use public bathrooms that corresponded with the biological sex printed on their birth certificate. US Attorney General Loretta Lynch characterized the law as akin to the policies of racial segregation. Republicans have argued that such laws are commonsense privacy safeguards. And they are.

What Obama, Lynch and others have tried to force on America is not only unconstitutional, it is unethical and immoral. I’m just saddened that only 12 states have had the spine to fight and have kept their principles intact enough to dig in their heels.

I hope this spreads and that other judges follow this example. This directive must not stand… this isn’t so much about choosing your gender as using the bathroom meant for your biological needs. It’s about ensuring that those that would take advantage of such a directive will not get the chance to prey on our kids. Sexual preference should never be valued more than the safety of our children.

A Manufactured Divide Ends In, ‘I Want to Kill White People’

By: Frank Salvato

Dallas

The racial divide in this country, as it exists today, is completely manufactured. It is manufactured by the political and activist class, and for reasons symbiotic to one another.

Politicians need to divide our nation so as to pit demographic against demographic; in order to create political party “battle lines.” This is how they create an “us against them” scenario. True Statesmen and public servants seek to better the nation in ways that are good for all of the population, not just a sympathetic demographic. That does not exist in our country today. True government of and for the people is dead.

Activists – mostly products of the victimhood and grievance class – need to divide to define special interest demographics, again to pit “us against them.” It is how they attain power and influence, as well as wealth for their “movements.” This is serious wealth. One need only look at the personal trappings of Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton to understand this.

Are there bad cops? Yes. Are there good cops that make bad decisions? Yes. But these are anomalies, not the status quote as the fraudulent #BlackLiveMatter movement, race-baiters and the Obama Administration would have you believe.

As a former first-responder I can tell you that even in the most remote locations, each day a man or woman puts on a badge to go to work, they simply want to do their jobs and come home to their families and friends. There is no other agenda than that. It is a goal. And sometimes, as in Dallas, that goal goes unachieved.

The manufactured racial divide now instituted in our nation is starting to take lives; it is fomenting in acts of domestic terrorism. At this point, the militants taking the shots are Black militants. They are targeting law enforcement and the first-responder community. It is perverted.

The fear among the situationally aware is that other intellectually stunted or militantly activist people and/or organizations that are not Black will be moved to retaliate. Many who are of the mind that a “race war” was by design; conceived and facilitated by Progressives attempting to maintain power through the chaos of “national emergency” will assume vindication at this possibility.

But this fear can only become a reality if thinking Americans – which are the overwhelming majority of our people – abandon the color blind society that we created for ourselves through the pain and growth of the 1960s and 1970s. If we do not give into the divisiveness of fear, they cannot achieve their goal of dividing America for purposes of maintaining power and fundamental transformation.

In this specific case, the catalyst for the carnage was not that a Dallas Police Officer shot a Black man. It was not that access to a “gun” caused this crisis. It was that a group of Black men whose minds had been poisoned to a manufactured racial divide pulled the triggers – repeatedly – to assassinate five police officers; wounding many more.

It was the persons, not the weapons. It was the opportunistic politics, not the society.

It is up to We the People to work through this. The Obama Administration is not on our side where this is concerned, nor is the media hacks or the ascribing punditry.

And as we do work though this, let’s all remember one thing: Those men and women who are wearing the badges, even as falsely motivated militants target them for assassination, they just want to make it past the end of their shift, doing the jobs that others fear to do, to achieve their goal of going home.

My condolences to the families, friends and brothers and sisters of the badge who have been touched by this senseless and unnecessary event.

Ted Cruz: ‘Supreme Court sided with abortion extremists’

By: Renee Nal | New Zeal

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) Addresses The Media At The Capitol

On Monday, Ted Cruz loudly denounced the Supreme Court decision to strike down Texas House Bill 2 from 2013 “that required all Texas facilities performing abortions to meet hospital-like standards — which include minimum sizes for rooms and doorways, pipelines for anesthesia…”

Cruz stated that the SCOTUS decision is political,

“Unfortunately, the Supreme Court sided with abortion extremists who care more about providing abortion-on-demand than they do protecting women’s health.”

President Obama, on the other hand, lauded the decision. He tweeted that “[E]very woman has a constitutional right to make her own reproductive choices…”
