In this land of free speech, certain statements are forbidden by law. Threats of violence, inciting a riot, and causing an unwarranted public panic are illegal. Rightfully so. But other than those irresponsible expressions that endanger the health and lives of others, we may opine as we choose on any subject. People of a certain character may limit their comments to the established truth and soften their words so as not to intentionally offend others, but there is no legal requirement to do so. In this free country, hurtful, despicable lies aren’t necessarily illegal. If they were, we’d need to build more prisons.
For years, and to this day, the lies of the liars have been ubiquitous. Until recently, the lies of the political left were largely free from repercussions. Every day, the unrepentant liars lied with impunity. Members of the inveterate media monopoly, left-leaning politicians, and entertainers acted as if they were unassailable. But the times, they are a-changin’. Nowadays, the media/entertainment cabal is a faded artifact of what it once was, and the liars know it. They’ve lost their power and thus, their control. Control is what they live for, so they’re rapidly becoming unhinged, losing their grip, and freaking out. This kind of journalistic justice is satisfying to observe. Who would have known that the title of a silly, low-budget 1960s game show could be so prophetic? But time has a way of recasting the trite into the axiomatic. Now it’s: “Tell the truth, or face the consequences.” That’s exactly what’s happening, and its advent is way overdue. But it’s better late than never.
Don’t believe me? Ask Jimmy Kimmel. For generations, the treacherous lies of the left were a matter of practice. Delivered by legions of iniquitous prevaricators, all reading from the same “west side of the map” script. If geography wasn’t your major, I’m talking about the extremist, sociopolitical left. In the “golden age” of TV entertainment, the late-night talk show hosts were delightfully non-partisan. Parr, Allen, Carson, and Leno were actually witty and quite funny. Now, alas, they’re all mirthless, left-leaning activists; openly partisan, mean-spirited, and as far from funny as Charlie Kirk was from AOC.
Rush was a polarizing figure; no argument there. But he didn’t achieve greatness by mean-spirited cynicism. Charlie Kirk was cut from the same cloth. Both Rush and Charlie engaged their opponents on the left, head-on, with the facts, logical arguments, and common sense, and were never subject to the bogus, self-imposed, left-wing rules of “political correctness.” Contrary to his detractors, Maja Rushey was never a hater. He won all the arguments with an incomparable intellect and a big smile on his face. Not like the washed-up Jimmy Kimmel and his scowling colleagues who still dominate the television airwaves. But the fortress that used to protect them from public ridicule and fact-checkers is crumbling all around them.
For years, those whose stock and trade was lies, smears, and slanders, delivered with an acrid, condescending sneer, got away with it. Now they’ll think twice before they spew their vitriolic hate. They peddled “cancel culture” as a means to silence their ideological opponents. But for these villains, their weapon of choice is now backfiring and being turned against them. The irony is beyond delicious. The standards of civil discourse they imposed on others didn’t apply to them. If it wasn’t for their double standards, they’d have none at all. Decent Americans can disagree strenuously with their political opponents, but they invariably show at least a modicum of respect for the dead. Now, those who mock the dead will pay a high price for their insensitive words and their louche inhumanity. It’s about time that decency prevails once again in the public square. A certain political party puts politics above everything else. I mean everything, and it shows, big time.
Somehow, the odious left-wing media, outspoken liberal entertainers, and the political liars of the left have managed to dodge voter rejection, corporate discipline, and public disapproval for many years. All of a sudden, those days are coming to an end. Happy warriors like Rush and Charlie (and some would say Trump) garner massive public support, but a steady diet of stink-faced, half-truths coupled with repellent, non-stop negativity alienates all of the reasonable constituents. At a point, mind-numbed zombies, useful (and useless) idiots, Kool-Aid drinking Karens, and haters of every stripe are the only allies that remain left-loyal. Perhaps that’s why the Democrat Party finds itself in the “enviable’ position it now enjoys.
But Jimmy Kimmel and others of his ilk were relentless. They didn’t pause for a moment of respect. On the contrary, they doubled down on their hateful, dishonest rhetoric. And because of their pathological lies and over-the-top insensitivity, a sleeping giant has awakened. Now, red-blooded American muscles, long dormant, are suddenly being enlivened in service of their masters (countless decent Americans and people all over the world). En masse, We the People have coalesced around the American touchstones of truth, decency, respect, and free speech. Murdering Charlie was the heinous act of a deranged killer. But apart from that, it was a strategic blunder of epic proportions. Now millions of Charlies will rise up and remain silent no longer. Charlie wasn’t Superman, but posthumously, every decent American will honor his memory with truth, justice, and the American way. Rest in Peace, Charlie. Your untimely death will never be in vain. Amen, and amen.
