“I am in the world to change the world.” Greek Leaders Committed to Social Justice (very scary – take a look at this curriculum and agenda)

Excerpt:

What is Social Justice?
Adams, Bell and Griffin (2007) define social justice as both a process and a goal. “The goal of social justice education is full and equal participation of all groups in a society that is mutually shaped to meet their needs. Social justice includes a vision of society that is equitable and all members are physically and psychologically safe and secure.” From the book: Teaching for Diversity and Social Justice: A Sourcebook Edited by Maurianne Adams, Lee Anne Bell, and Pat Griffin.

As Humpty Dumpty has so frequently said: “Justice means whatever I say it means.”

School kids have been complaining that “it’s not FAIR” for generations when they don’t get their way.

Johnny has a candy bar and I don’t. It’s not fair.
Sally plays dodge ball better than I do. It’s not fair.
Bobby gets better grades than I do. It’s not fair.

“IT’S NOT FAIR, I TELL YOU! IT’S NOT FAIR!! If I don’t get MY way, it’s just not fair.

What we need are new rules that make it so nobody can have more than I do. We need new rules that make it so no one can get better grades than I do. We need new rules that make it so that I get recognition and admiration regardless of the quality or quantity of my work. We need new rules that make it so I get to have a job whether I have a clue or not.

Then it will all be fair.

And then we will have justice.

The rest of you? Hey, as long as it’s fair for those of us who aren’t as “lucky,” who cares about you? You guys have too much money, too much stuff, too much good fortune anyway.

But I’m gonna fix that just as soon as I figure out how to legislate LUCK.

(for those who don’t get it – this is sarcasm and irony…)
