SLEEPER RACE COMES ALIVE
Study Shows Kone Could Upset Nadler in Eighth Congressional District

NEW YORK – Underdog Republican Susan Kone could upset longtime Democratic Congressman Jerrold Nadler in New York’s 8th Congressional District, according to a study of digital exposure, perception and sentiment across the Internet.

“Voters are recognizing that there are sharp differences between the two candidates in this race and nobody should assume the outcome of this election prior to November second,” said Kone.

Predictive Edge, whose proprietary software has an 85-90% accuracy forecasting record on political races, found that Susan Kone’s momentum in several key areas is moving her to within as little 12 points of Nadler—a closable gap with more than two weeks to Election Day.

The study “retrieved, classified, and evaluated 112,944 discrete data points” from the Internet—including social media—and found that Nadler’s weaknesses and Kone’s strengths are in the following areas:

• Nadler supports building a mosque near the 8th Congressional District’s Ground Zero and holding a civilian trial for 9/11 admitted mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed near Ground Zero. Kone opposes the first as insensitive and the second as dangerous. On the “sentiment” measure of compassion, Kone edges Nadler, even though she has a tiny fraction of Nadler’s campaign funds, hasn’t broadcast any TV campaign ads, and Nadler has been in office for 18 years.

• On key issues such as national debt, taxes and unemployment, Kone also is perceived to be stronger than Nadler in an election where those factors are convincing many Democrats and Independents to vote for pro-consumer, pro-jobs, anti-government spending Republican candidates like Kone, who is a successful small business owner of an agency that places people in jobs.

• On the qualities of “honesty, integrity and intelligence,” Kone also scores higher than Nadler. These qualities give Kone a potential edge over Nadler on such issues as government corruption and transparency.

Not covered by the study but nonetheless crucial in a district with the highest concentration of Jews outside of Tel Aviv, are Kone’s strong support for Israel, condemnation of the danger of Iran’s nuclear build-up (and its threat to Israel and the world), and her call for tougher measures against Iran and terrorists—all issues where Nadler has deferred to the conciliatory policies of the Administration and many of his fellow Democrats

“On issues deeply affecting the people of the 8th Congressional District—economic security and national security—I have shown myself to be open to listen and ready to lead, whereas Mr. Nadler has harshly criticized anyone who disagrees with his out-of-touch, inflexible and insensitive views,” said Kone. “Over the coming weeks I will be going to great lengths to discuss these issues with voters, and I challenge Congressman Nadler to come out and defend his positions on the economy and terrorism.”
