Bernie’s Billionaires

By: Cliff Kincaid
Accuracy in Media

Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is running against some—but not all—billionaires. On Saturday, at a campaign appearance in South Carolina, he singled out the Koch brothers as “greedy.” But Roger Morgan, the author of a book on hedge fund operator and billionaire George Soros, wonders how greedy Soros has been, and whether the media will bother to take a look. He notes that the hedge fund operator’s net worth rose from about $9 billion before President Obama took office to over $24 billion today.

How did this happen? Was he just a good investor? Did he have inside information? Was he the beneficiary of crony capitalism? Why don’t the investigative reporters get busy on this story?

We have searched in vain for anything in the public record suggesting that socialist Sanders is concerned in the least about how Soros has made his money. While the Koch brothers make products that are useful to people, Soros manipulated and exchanged currencies to make his initial fortune. He was convicted of insider trading in France. His currency manipulations against the Bank of England, which damaged the Pound and hurt the investments of ordinary people, earned him $1 billion.

These maneuvers would seem to make him a more attractive target for a socialist like Sanders. Yet, Sanders is silent on Soros. Why?

The answer, quite simply, is that Soros has poured a lot of his money into socialist causes. One of the biggest causes into which Soros has poured millions of dollars is the legalization of dangerous drugs. In March, when Sanders spoke at Marianne Williamson’s Sister Giant conference, he appeared on the same stage as Lynne Lyman, California state director of the Drug Policy Alliance, a major Soros-funded group. Williamson, a so-called New Age spiritual teacher, ran for Congress andadvocated legalizing marijuana.

Publicly, Sanders supports decriminalization and “medical” marijuana. But Chelsea G. Summers of the New Republic discovered a 1972 Sanders letter to a local newspaper, in which he said he supported abolishing “all laws dealing with abortion, drugs, sexual behavior (adultery, homosexuality, etc.)” as part of his campaign for the governorship of Vermont.

Does this mean the legalization of LSD, heroin and cocaine?

In addition to the marijuana legalization movement, Soros money has financed the “Occupy” movement and various other Marxist-oriented groups such as Critical Resistance, founded by long-time communist Angela Davis. Her goal is to empty the prisons because, she argues, they are filled with victims of capitalism.

Soros isn’t the only billionaire financing groups or causes that Sanders believes in. Others include billionaire environmentalist Tom Steyer, billionaire gay activist Tim Gill, and billionaire anti-Second Amendment advocate Michael Bloomberg.

But Sanders only wants to talk about the billionaires who support conservatives or Republicans.

When Sanders appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on September 14, 2014, host Chuck Todd tried to not let Sanders get away with his charges against the Koch brothers without having to answer for the left-wing billionaires behind socialist causes and the Democratic Party. The issue at the time was the Supreme Court decision called Citizens United that allowed corporations, labor unions and others to exercise First Amendment rights of free speech and political advocacy in elections.

Sanders said, “The Koch brothers and the other billionaires are going to spend hundreds of millions of dollars. That is not a way you bring about change. We’ve got to mobilize the American people.” Todd responded, “Let me ask you on that billionaire front: Is there such thing as a—If a billionaire agrees with you on issues are you okay with them participating in the process? Or do you think this entire process, whether it’s Tom Steyer or Michael Bloomberg or the Koch brothers?”

Sanders tried to evade the question, saying, “Chuck, I think Citizens United will go down in history as one of the worst Supreme Court decisions ever. I think it is opening up the road to oligarchy in the United States of America, where the billionaires, like the Koch brothers…”

This somewhat confusing exchange then ensued:

Todd: Left or right?

Sanders: Left or right, but it’s mostly right. Let’s be clear about it. It’s not fair to give…

Todd: This year it’s, yeah, they have, they’re…

Sanders: And it will always be.

Todd: …spending more money.

Sanders: It will always be. Look: The Koch brothers are going to spend four-hundred million dollars. Do you know what their agenda is? Do you know what they believe in? Let me tell you what they believe in. This is what they told us. They want to end Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid. More tax breaks for the rich and large corporations. Nobody in America wants that except the billionaire class. And yet they are now able to put hundreds of millions of dollars into the political process. This is a real danger to American democracy.

Todd let Sanders get away with far too many wild charges in that exchange. First of all, the charge about the “billionaire class” wanting to completely end all social welfare programs is a gross exaggeration. Some of these programs clearly have to be modified before they go broke. According to the bipartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, Social Security last year paid $73 billion more in benefits than it raised from taxes. Sanders should be pressed on his irresponsible failure to support measures to reform the system to make sure those who paid into it get their benefits.

What’s more, it’s not the case that so-called right-wing billionaires are more active than those on the left. In 2014, PolitiFact, a group that purports to review political claims for factual accuracy, reviewed a list of 22 billionaires active in politics and found that 13—or more than half—gave predominantly to liberal groups or groups affiliated with the Democratic Party. The other nine gave predominantly to conservative groups.

According to Sanders, the Koch brothers are hoping to spend $400 million in this election cycle. Contrast that figure with the fact that, over the last 32 years, according to their own estimate, the Soros-funded Open Society Foundations had expenditures of almost $12 billion. In 2014, the Open Society Foundations said they had expenditures of $827 million.

These figures are not, of course, considered direct spending in elections or on behalf of candidates. But these funds support organizations that engage in political activities that may have even more of an impact than the money that goes directly into issue advocacy or the indirect and direct funding of campaigns. For example, over the 32-year period, the Soros Foundations concede they spent $1.5 billion “to promote reform in the United States on issues such as criminal justice, drugs, palliative care, education, immigration, equal rights, and democratic governance.”

All of these are loaded terms that involve substantial sums of money for left-wing political activities. The term “criminal justice” means getting people out of prison. The word “immigration” means more legal immigrants and illegal aliens in the U.S. The word “drugs” means making dangerous mind-altering substances more available to the public. And on and on it goes.

One of those terms, “palliative care,” is worth additional review and comment, especially because the Republicans have failed to stop Obamacare, and it is continuing to take root and unfold. Ione Whitlock of LifeTree, Inc., a pro-life group, has called “palliative care” a form of “imposed death” to be used on old people whose lives are said to be too costly for the health care system to maintain. LifeTree has documented Soros support for what Whitlock calls the “Big Death” lobby, being implemented under the Obamacare legislation.

Since Bernie Sanders seems to be so concerned about the elderly losing their Social Security benefits, perhaps he ought to take a look at what the Soros-funded “Big Death” lobby is up to. The aim seems to be to get the elderly out of the way so they don’t collect benefits.

Sanders can’t possibly defend that, can he?

Forum: Will Hillary Clinton Still Be The Democrat Nominee?

The Watcher’s Council

Hillary Clinton

Every week on Monday morning, the Council and our invited guests weigh in at the Watcher’s Forum with short takes on a major issue of the day, the culture or daily living. This week’s question: Will Hillary Clinton Still Be The Democrat Nominee?

Don Surber: No. She is Pig Pen in the Peanuts comic strip of politics. Everywhere she goes, dirt. Dirt and flies. The Democrats may float Mike Dukakis’ name next.

The Razor: I hope so, but I suspect she won’t be. It would be a Democrat’s worst nightmare if she prevailed through this mess and faced a competent Republican candidate. Of course, that last part assumes a lot right now from the Stupid Party. But I’m getting that uncomfortable feeling I get when I watch a comedian bombing on stage, or when I pass an accident on the road and struggle not to look. Her candidacy is looking increasingly like a slow-motion train wreck and I’m simply amazed at how arrogant, narcissistic and just plain stupid she is. Were all the smart people Bill’s friends?

I honestly hope that by Election Day 2016 she’ll be in jail. She clearly deserves it.

The Independent Sentinel: She will either be a candidate or indicted. That’s the USA today!

Since I don’t think the FBI will do anything substantive, she will be the candidate.

It’s the GOPs election to lose and lose they might very well do so.

JoshuaPundit: I think it depends on several factors, some of which I went over here.

The dislike between the Obamas and the  Clintons is palpable and personal. But beyond that, Obama considers the Clintons – believe it or not – too conservative to lead the ulta-Left prog fascist party he envisions having significant influence over even after he’s out of the White House. And much of the base agrees with him, egged on by the Soros media machine.

So here’s the first basic thing to consider. The FBI and the Inspector Generals work for Barack Obama, and if he didn’t want this e-mail controversy to surface and continue to fester, it wouldn’t have. So the first question is how far he’s willing and able to take this…far enough to knock Mrs. Clinton out of the box for the nomination but not far enough to where she feels threatened enough to have her lawyer call up someone like Benghazi chairman Trey Gowdy  and other committee heads and start talking deal in exchange for immunity and her testimony on certain matters  the Obama regime would rather weren’t made public. Mrs. Clinton is not without weapons of her own. This could end with a fine and a temporary rescinding of her security clearance, as it did with the Clinton’s creature Sandy Burger.

The second thing to consider is the nature of the Democrat field. Mrs. Clinton has raised more money than all the others combined. She also has the best organization, including Clintonistas scattered throughout the media. After which she can say “I made an honest mistake and I paid for it. Now let’s talk about amnesty and reparations and the fact I’m a woman!”

While Socialist Bernie Sanders has been making some noise, he is still a Jew by birth, if a radical,  irreligious and anti-Israel one, Most blacks, Hispanics and Muslims will not vote for him and they’re an important, vital part of the Democrat coalition. After the New Hampshire primary, which along with Iowa is composed of most white voters, I expect him to fade. There’s no one else at this time, not really.

The recent meeting of Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren is of interest, but we’ll know soon if there are any burning embers among the smoke. For Slo-Jo to make a real run of it, he would almost certainly have to announce the first week or so of September.

GrEaT sAtAn”S gIrLfRiEnD: HRC as the Democrat candidate? Looking kinda iffy! It’s one thing to blow off Congress cats and bothersome reporters about her E Mailgate. Quite another to diss the FBI (even if the FBI is doing their very first ever Non Criminal Investigation all about HRC’s server chiz).

Yet way more important is 44’s role in all this. And it looks like 44 is driving it too. Days ago 42 meet and golfed with 44 and you can be sure two things that came up: Attorney General Lynch and Vice President Biden.

Now we learn VP Biden has been hooking up with Senator Elizabeth Warren!

As the radio cat with half his brain tied behind his back says:

The Hillary thing, I think it’s personal with the Clintons and the Obamas. I don’t think it goes any deeper. It may, but it’s personal.

Look, folks, these are the things that you think go in one ear and out the other. But when Bill Clinton in South Carolina is sitting there at a cafe talking to a buddy of his after they’ve thrown the race card down on the guy and Clinton is saying — I forget who he said this to, and it’s a prominent name, might have been Ted Kennedy. It was Ted Kennedy. He was sitting there having a drink with Ted Kennedy and Obama’s on TV or walking by, and Clinton said (doing impression), “You know, Ted, wasn’t that long ago, a guy like this would be getting us our coffee.” Well, that’s the kind of thing Obama never forgets, particularly that. That was Clinton calling Obama, I mean, that was Clinton talking about slavery, dare we say.

Obama’s an African-American, coffee, what, he’d be servant? Obama doesn’t forget that stuff. And some of the stuff that happened during that campaign, Hillary and Bill, I think this is personal with them. Well, then why did he make her secretary of state? It’s a pretty brilliant move. It looks like she’s pretty incompetent, right? And she’s got all these problems now that he probably helped create. I mean, he’s done his best to discredit her, and her coronation is now off the rails yet again, thanks to him. The old saw about keeping your friends close, your enemies closer.

Get your “Riding With Biden” paraphernalia now!

Puma By Design: Straight Answer: Nope!

The Obamas despise the Clintons and does not want them entering as they exit the White House.

Oh sure, the Barry gave the Clintons his blessing but he was just but he was merely paying a debt from the 2008 presidential campaign. Debt repaid with the left hand, screwing Clinton with the right.

As for who then? Joe Biden or Elizabeth Warren.

The powers that be are aware that Clinton will kick, scream and claw her way to becoming the left’s chosen candidate. I believe there is an urgency by some (Obama) to take her down hard once and for all.

Enter Joe Biden who must first collaborate with Elizabeth Warren so that when Hillary throws the gender card out there, Warren will run interference keeping feminists in check.

If Joe Biden fails, enter Elizabeth Warren. The plan may have been the plan all along to get the left so sick of Hillary that they would be thankful for Warren who as far as I can see is the only thing worse for America than Hillary or Bernie Sanders.

The Glittering Eye: Unless she’s actually serving time somewhere, Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic nominee. The Democrats and the Republicans have traded places. This cycle the Democrats want to fall in line and the Republicans want to fall in love.

The progressive wing of the Democratic Party (a third to half of the party) knows where its heart is: Bernie Sanders. If he were a black woman he’d be perfect. Despite where their collective heart leads, they’ll still vote for Hillary. She also has the solid support of the black caucus. That’s enough to secure the nomination.

The Republicans, on the other hand, are looking for love (in all the wrong places). That’s why no one other than The Donald can get any traction. Well, that and the 24/7 press coverage he’s receiving.

The Right Planet: Well, I really hate making predictions. But it’s long been reported that there is some bad blood between the Obama’s and the Clintons. So, I would not be surprised if the Obama Administration is firing torpedoes at the U.S.S.S. (United States Socialist Ship) Hillary Clinton. And if that’s the case, it must mean that there is something far worse than Hillary (if that’s possible) waiting in the wings. I just read that VP Biden had a meeting with Fauxchahontas (Elizabeth Warren). And Socialist Sanders is giving Comrade Hillary a run for her Clinton Cash. So there’s a damn good chance Hillary might not be the presidential candidate for the Democrats. But, what difference, at this point, does it make?

Nice Deb: I’ve been saying since March that it isn’t going to be Hillary. The Regime’s preferred candidate is Liz Warren, but the surest pathway to the White House for her through Biden. Biden has the name recognition and stature needed to win the presidential election in 2016 with Warren as his running mate. One term of Biden and the next two Warren. That’s the plan. That’s what we have to look forward to.

Well, there you have it.

Ted Cruz: Rise of the Evangelical & Constitutional Warrior

By: Terresa Monroe-Hamilton

Ted Cruz Religious Rally

Ted Cruz has made the evangelical vote a cornerstone of his political campaign for the presidency in 2016. This week he will launch a 50 state campaign to defund the butchers of Planned Parenthood. It is a move that is sure to be wildly popular among conservatives. His father, Rafael Cruz, must be incredibly proud of this.

Cruz invited more than 100,000 pastors via email over the weekend to take part in conference calls with him starting this week, where they will be given details on a plan to mobilize church attendees in every congressional district beginning on August 30th. This followed Cruz’s Rally for Religious Liberty that drew a crowd of over 3,000 to Iowa last week. “The recent exposure of Planned Parenthood’s barbaric practices… has brought about a pressing need to end taxpayer support of this institution,” Cruz stated flatly in a call to action distributed via email by the American Renewal Project, an organization of conservative pastors. Ted Cruz is not only appealing to the evangelical vote, he’s fighting for Christians and for the lives of the unborn. His honest and obvious devotion to his Christian faith is one of the things that appeals to so many Americans. Approximately 1 in 4 voters have identified themselves as evangelical in exit polls since the 2004 election cycle. In key Republican contests such as Iowa and in some of the Southern states that Cruz has said are critical to his run, that figure was higher during the last presidential campaign — nearly 50 percent. The evangelical vote is key to Cruz’s campaign goals and strategies. He is gifted at motivating and mobilizing voters. He’s also the favorite son of the Tea Party conservatives. Cruz is just the warrior we have waited for.

Ted Cruz Religious Rally

Ted Cruz’s rise as a champion for evangelicals and conservative constitutionalists was spurred on by the Supreme Court’s decision that gay marriage should be legalized in all 50 states. Add on top of that the release of hidden-camera videos by the Center for Medical Progress showcasing Planned Parenthood officials discussing the donation of fetal tissue in a seemingly cavalier fashion. Included in those videos is evidence that babies are being born alive and then killed. Some are having their hearts shocked to bring them back to life and then their brains are cut out. It’s horrific genocide and it is stark evidence of the ongoing American Fetal Holocaust. In short, it is murder on a massive scale.

Cruz is fighting for Americans on a whole range of issues. He has been the loudest voice against Obamacare. He addressed the issue of illegal immigration long ago and is still fighting it. While many of the other candidates talk a good game, Cruz walks the walk and can show how he has fought on each issue. He has the scars to prove it. In regards to the Planned Parenthood videos, Cruz has urged everyone he has met to watch them. He has savaged the Supreme Court over these issues. Cruz has argued cases before the Supreme Court and he has served as a law clerk there, so he knows all too well what goes on in those chambers. In an op-ed in USA Today, Cruz wrote that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell shouldn’t schedule or allow any legislation to be heard that would give federal money to Planned Parenthood. He’s absolutely right.

Both Ted Cruz and Rand Paul have proposed defunding Planned Parenthood and are willing to stand on that issue no matter what. Even if that means shutting down the government. Any shutdown would be the fault of Democrats, who would have to be “willing to try to shut down the government in order to force continued taxpayer funding from an organization that has now been caught on film apparently admitting to multiple felonies,” said Cruz. Cruz has been there before and is not afraid to take the heat and derision piled on him over Obamacare. He’ll do it again if need be.

Ted Cruz Religious Rally

Cruz’s Rally for Religious Liberty in Iowa clearly highlighted him as the evangelical candidate in the race. There is a “war on faith,” he said, evangelical voters will “stay home no longer.” Christians will no longer be silenced and shunned as if they are somehow a sub-species here in America. We are the majority and it is time we started acting like it. Gone are the days when we are so easily dismissed and marginalized. Our voices will be heard in this next election and the shout for a return to faith and principles will be thunderous.

Cruz is especially close to Dick and Betty Odgaard, the Iowa Mennonite couple who lost their business after refusing to hold a gay wedding on their business premises. As Cruz recounted their heartbreaking story in Iowa, he held Betty’s hand. She wept as she told her story… how they could not do the wedding because it violated their deeply held Christian beliefs. The issue eventually forced them to go out of business as they were persecuted and fined by the federal government for their stance. They were expected to give up their First Amendment rights of freedom of speech and religion, so that a gay couple could have the right to be married which is not guaranteed in the Constitution, period. One by one, Cruz called on others to recount how, as Christians, they had suffered similar fates and persecution. He called them heroes. That included Aaron and Melissa Klein who refused to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple and have since been fined $135,000. They are appealing their case – again. Then there is the Former Atlanta Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran, who was fired for writing a personal book on his faith, where he wrote on the sin of homosexuality. His private writings cost him his job when a fellow employee complained.

“These threats have been growing, they have been growing for decades but never have the threats been greater to religious liberty than they are right here and now today,” he said. “These threats are not imagined, they’re not made up. These are real people leading real lives who found themselves facing persecution simply for living out their faith. There is a war on faith in America today.” “They didn’t ask for confrontation and the government came to them and said, ‘Choose between faith and obedience to government power,’ and they said, ‘I follow a higher power and that is God almighty,'” Cruz said. “If we cannot worship God, if we cannot live according to our faith …. all other liberties fade away,” Cruz said.

Ted Cruz also recounted the cases he has won that had to do with religious liberty when he was Texas Solicitor General. Cases such as fighting to keep the Ten Commandments monument on the grounds of the state capitol, which was decided in his favor 5-4 by the Supreme Court. The highest court in the land is just one justice, one vote from taking down all images of God period and stripping us of our freedom of religion. “Is the next victim of persecution your pastor?” Cruz asked the crowd. “Your charity, where you volunteer your time at a crisis pregnancy center?”

“We’re at a crossroads in our country,” said Cruz’s Iowa campaign chairman, Matt Schultz. “Ted Cruz is the man who God has prepared for this moment in time to be our champion, to fight for our husbands, our wives, our children and our grandchildren, for our country.” Voters agree overwhelmingly that we need to return to our Judeo-Christian values.

Cruz drew some of his loudest cheers when he took on Planned Parenthood. “Innocent life should not be treated as a business transaction,” he said, repeating a pledge that, if elected president, he would instruct the Justice Department to investigate and potentially prosecute the organization. Oh, I pray that is so and that it comes to pass. The butchers of Planned Parenthood should all be tried and held accountable for their heinous crimes.

Ted Cruz Religious Rally

In Cruz’s email this weekend to the pastors, he made a spiritual call to arms: “I am urging you to confront this evil in our nation by praying and preaching with an unbridled passion until funding for Planned Parenthood ends, and this barbaric practice is purged from the land,” Cruz wrote in his message. This is the Black Robe Regiment come to life and our time is now. This is where pastors and the faithful take a bold stance for righteousness and for life. Of course, the leaders of Planned Parenthood, such as Executive Vice President Dawn Laguens, are coming unglued over this movement. The evil that they do no longer has a dark place to hide.

Feel the fear and the hate:

“From the beginning, this relentless campaign has been about one thing: antiabortion extremists who will do anything — lie, twist facts, villainize providers, and even reportedly break the law — in their quest to ban abortion and block millions from accessing basic reproductive health care,” she said in a statement to The Washington Post. “Ted Cruz is pushing the Republican party into territory that’s further and further away from what the majority of American voters believe.”

What a lie. But this battle is just heating up. The Tuesday conference calls with pastors will begin with a message from Cruz, who will be followed on the call by Doug Stringer, a pastor who works with American Renewal and Response USA to plan statewide prayer rallies at the request of conservative governors such as Jindal and Perry. Cruz will lead the fight while campaigning for the presidency. His fundraising efforts are only second to Jeb Bush. And the basis of Cruz’s donations are comprised of hard money that comes from voters in small amounts.

Cruz’s campaign has spent the past few months mobilizing his base, assembling coalitions and courting activists on the ground in Iowa and throughout the South. He spent mid-August on a 20-stop, seven-day bus tour across the South that included events at multiple churches and his campaign announced last week that it intends to have a pastor doing faith outreach in all 99 of Iowa’s counties. Cruz’s father Rafael, a pastor, has been traveling the country all year speaking to voters of faith. Now, that effort will be broadcast nationwide.

“You wonder why we have a federal government that comes after our free-speech rights, that comes after our religious liberty, that comes after life, that comes after marriage, that comes after our values,” Cruz said, blaming that state of affairs again on the 54 million evangelicals who stayed home during the 2012 presidential election. “I’m here to tell you,” Cruz said, “we will stay home no longer.” Ted Cruz is the evangelical and constitutional warrior we have waited for. Now, it’s our turn to fight for our freedoms and our faith.
