“The Obama campaign is working in both New Mexico and Colorado, among other states, telling Latino voters about McCain’s terrible stands on the economy and about the horrible role Republicans have played and continue to play on immigration… “We are showing how the companies and outfits that exploit Latino workers are the people behind McCain,”

Between now and Election Day LaLuz said that the Obama campaign is registering voters in New Mexico and Colorado and developing lists of tens of thousands of Latino supporters for Obama.

Over 300 Sanders activists attended Democratic Socialists of America’s “Socialist Caucus” on July 27th, 2016. Jose LaLuz, DSA vice-chair and veteran labor and Puerto Rican rights activist, brought down the house with an impassioned plea to end United States colonial rule in Puerto Rico.

In 2008, Tim Wheeler and his Communist Party USA comrade Rev. Pierre L. Williamsof Baltimore canvassed for Obama in South Carolina in January of 2008.

I have been canvassing with a friend, Rev. Pierre Williams, a United Methodist minister in Baltimore. We got a vivid feel for just how deeply Obama’s message is resonating here going door-to-door in a working class neighborhood yesterday.

Tim Wheeler was in Obama’s campaign HQ as the primary results came in.

I’m at the Obama headquarters and you can hear the cheering all over. It’s really very exciting.

In early 2008, Tim Wheeler, his wife Joyce Wheeler and another Communist Party USA couple Jim Baldridge and Margaret Baldridge were all active members of Obama’s Baltimore operation – organizing, canvassing, phone banking and general campaign work.

In 2010, Tim Wheeler andJoyce Wheeler worked in Democratic Senator Patty Murray‘s campaign inSequim, Washington State.

Tim Wheeler wrote in thePeoples World:

The highest profile election victory here Nov. 2 was the reelection of Sen. Patty Murray. She defeated Republican Dino Rossi by more than 100,000 votes.
I was asked to coordinate street-corner “waves” for Murray here in my hometown. We could tell Murray was doing well by the number of motorists, especially women, who honked and gave us the thumbs-up salute, far outnumbering the Republicans who gave us a sour look and the thumbs-down.

My wife Joyce and I spent one afternoon canvassing for Murray up on Bell Hill, where my family once owned a dairy farm. It is now crowded with luxury homes with panoramic views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Mount Baker.

Weekly Featured Profile – Ray Siqueiros

KeyWiki.org

Ray Siqueiros

Ray Siqueiros is a Tuscon, Arizona activist and a high school social studies teacher. He is active in the American Federation of Teachers and is a long time member of theCommunist Party USA.

Ray Siqueiros wrote on the death of Communist Party USAleader George Edwards in 2012.

I am so glad I got to meet George 27 years ago. I had just joined the Party and moved to New York where I was able to attend many national Party events. I especially enjoyed the National Labor Committee events, where I could really fathom the idea of Industrial Concentration by rubbing shoulders with the likes of George Edwards, Hosea Hudson, Gus Hall, Henry Winston, and many other greats too long to list here. These heroes of our working class USA modeled confidence, humility, approachability, and plain honesty! I hope to continue in any way-great or small-their stunning example.

Siqueiros runs a branch of the radical Marxist/separatist group MEChA with his high school students and actively encourages them to protest for illegal immigrants.

In Tucson on March 29, 2006, hundreds of students walked out of their high schools with a message of “hear me” or at least “see me.”

Sunnyside High School students parade around the Sunnyside neighborhood with flags and loudspeakers.

At Sunnyside High School, administrators and student organizers were able to shepherd about 600 students into the auditorium to discuss the purpose of the protest and march.

Asked how the students organized so quickly, Ray Siqueiros, a Sunnyside social studies teacher, said, “It’s called technology. It’s called text messaging. It’s called myspace.com.”

Siqueiros, of Sí Se Puede, a group that organizes the annual Cesar Chavez rally, was pleased at the peaceful nature of the day and was optimistic the community would rally behind the students.

“Leave it to our kids to show us how it’s done,” he said. “It’s in tradition with Cesar Chavez. His spirit is alive and well in Tucson. The community, the parents and the school should be very proud of the students…”

In June of 2015, Ray Siqueirosreceived an award for his teaching services from local Rep.Raul Grijalva, himself a longtime ally of the Tuscon Communist Party.
