Conscience of a Conservative
The problem with having a private speech recorded surreptitiously is that it doesn’t provide for follow-up questions to clarify one’s remarks. I am referring, of course, to the comments made by Mitt Romney about the 47% of Americans who will be voting for Democrats in general and Barack Hussein Obama in particular. At the outset I think that the word “Americans” should have been defined as “people who don’t pay taxes”. Now read the statement this way: “47% of people who don’t pay taxes will be voting for Barack Obama”. Sounds a bit different doesn’t it? I happen to be one of those Americans who don’t pay taxes BUT sure as hell am not in that 47% who would vote for Obama. I most certainly would never vote for any Democrat, especially one with Obama’s treasonous reputation for his associations with known communists and terrorists.
I don’t pay taxes because I have no Earned Income. I am 72 years old and have been retired for 11 years and have only a pension check and a Social Security check coming in every month and these two sources of funds are not taxable. By some accounts I may be considered in the low-income class but I manage to get by with what I have because I paid off my mortgage a long time ago. I also do not collect Food Stamps or any other free stuff from the government. I didn’t write the tax laws and neither did Mitt Romney. He pays the taxes he owes based on the law. That cannot be said for some of the officials in Obama’s administration who failed to pay the taxes they owed the government.
I am not making excuses for Mitt Romney’s lack of clarity in a private meeting of his supporters. I was prompted into writing this after reading a story on Fox News about a video of a black woman who was boasting about her free Obama cell phone. It then became clear how widespread the numbers are of people who don’t pay taxes.
In 2008, there were 7.1 million Lifeline accounts nationwide. There are 12.5 million today, according to Bloomberg News. About half of those are mobile phones sold by Miami-based TracFone, Sprint and hundreds of smaller regional companies. The government pays those carriers up to $10 per month for each program subscriber. Users, in turn, get free phones and 250 minutes of monthly airtime.
The fact that there were 12.5 million free cell phones four years ago paid for by the Federal government in the hands of low income people certainly gives weight to the thought that these people would want to vote for Obama if they were made to believe he alone was responsible for them. In light of our dismal Democrat-created economy, there are probably a whole lot more free phones out there today. Read the whole story here but while the first two paragraphs tell it all, the video carries all of the fervent emotion.
Protester outside of Romney rally explains how Obama gives all minorities free phones and that is why they should vote for him. Cleveland Ohio, September 26, 2012

A viral video of an Obama supporter touting her “Obama phone” has put the spotlight on an obscure federal program that provides discounted phone service to qualifying low-income Americans.
“Keep Obama as president,” the animated woman says on the video. “He gave us a phone.”
It matters not that the free cell phone program was in place years before Obama stole the White House. What is important is that many of those in the 47% group who don’t pay taxes, the ones on Welfare and live in government housing projects, get free medical care and collect Food Stamps have been made to believe that Obama is the source of their great free gifts. And I’m sure that many Democrats have spread the word that a Republican administration along with a Republican dominated Congress would certainly cut that estimated 2-billion dollar cell phone giveaway program to save money. While history tells us that it was the Republicans under Abraham Lincoln who freed the slaves it was the Democrats who created the KKK to intimidate the Black people and later on created the Welfare programs to make them dependent on Democrats to keep the free stuff coming their way and all they were expected to do was return the favor and vote for them. And the votes keep coming in, even after they die.
